Thou
didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they
sank as lead in the mighty waters.
But You
blew with Your breath, and the sea covered them. They
sank like lead in the mighty waters.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a
memorial of
blowing of
trumpets, an holy
convocation.
“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly
announced by
trumpet blasts.
And when they shall
blow with them, all the assembly shall
assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to
assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And if they
blow but with one
trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you.
When ye
blow an
alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.
When you sound short blasts, the camps that lie on the east side are to set out.
When ye
blow an
alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall
blow an
alarm for their journeys.
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall
blow, but ye shall not sound an
alarm.
To
convene the assembly, you are to sound long blasts, not short ones.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall
blow with the
trumpets; and they shall be to you for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the
trumpets. This shall be a permanent statute for you and the generations to come.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall
blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall
blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to
blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no
servile work: it is a day of
blowing the
trumpets unto you.
“On the first day of the seventh month, you are to hold a sacred assembly, and you must not do any regular work. This will be a day for you to sound the
trumpets.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and
Phinehas the son of
Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the
trumpets to
blow in his hand.
And Moses sent the thousand from each tribe into battle, along with
Phinehas son of
Eleazar the priest, who took with him the vessels of the sanctuary and the
trumpets for signaling.
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven
trumpets of rams horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall
blow with the
trumpets.
Have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark. Then on the seventh day, march around the city seven times, while the priests blow the horns.
And the armed men went before the priests that
blew with the
trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and
blowing with the
trumpets.
While the horns continued to sound, the armed troops marched
ahead of the priests who
blew the horns, and the rear guard followed the ark.
And seven priests bearing seven
trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and
blew with the
trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and
blowing with the
trumpets.
And the seven priests carrying seven rams’ horns kept marching
ahead of the ark of the LORD and
blowing the horns. The armed troops went in front of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the horns kept sounding.
When I
blow with a
trumpet, I and all that are with me, then
blow ye the
trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of
Gideon.
When I and all who are with me
blow our horns, then you are also to
blow your horns from all around the camp and
shout, ‘For the LORD and for
Gideon!’”
And the three companies
blew the
trumpets, and
brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the
trumpets in their right hands to
blow withal: and they
cried, The sword of the LORD, and of
Gideon.
The three companies
blew their horns and
shattered their jars. Holding the torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, they
shouted, “A sword for the LORD and for
Gideon!”
And he
smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of
Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
With a great
blow he
devastated twenty cities from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as
Abel-keramim. So the
Ammonites were subdued before the Israelites.
And
Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and
strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once
avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Then
Samson called out to the LORD: “O Lord GOD, please remember me.
Strengthen me, O God, just once more, so that with one
vengeful blow I may pay back the Philistines for my two eyes.”
And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and
slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
When war broke out again, David went out and fought the Philistines and struck them with such a mighty blow that they fled before him.
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and
smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Then David and his men went to Keilah, fought against the Philistines, and carried off their
livestock, striking them with a mighty
blow. So David saved the people of Keilah.
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will
chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
I will be his Father, and he will be My son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
And let
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet
anoint him there king over Israel: and
blow ye with the
trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.
There
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet are to
anoint him king over Israel. You are to
blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a
pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land
rejoiced, and
blew with
trumpets: and
Athaliah rent her clothes, and
cried, Treason, Treason.
And she looked out and saw the king standing by the
pillar, according to the custom. The officers and trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were
rejoicing and
blowing trumpets. Then
Athaliah tore her clothes and
screamed, “Treason! Treason!”
And Shebaniah, and
Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and
Eliezer, the priests, did
blow with the
trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-
edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and
Eliezer—the priests—were to
blow the
trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-
edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.
And
Abijah and his people
slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
Then
Abijah and his people struck them with a mighty
blow, and 500,000 chosen men of Israel fell slain.
Behold, with a great plague will the LORD
smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
So behold, the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.
And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his
pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the
trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land
rejoiced, and sounded with
trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then
Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
And she looked out and saw the king standing by his
pillar at the entrance. The officers and trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were
rejoicing and
blowing trumpets, while the singers with musical instruments were leading the praises. Then
Athaliah tore her clothes and
screamed, “Treason, treason!”
All darkness shall be
hid in his secret places: a fire not
blown shall
consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. A fire unfanned will
consume him and
devour what is left in his tent.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
Remove Your
scourge from me; I am perishing by the force of Your hand.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
As smoke is
blown away, You will drive them out; as wax melts before the fire, the wicked will perish in the presence of God.
He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
He
stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.
Blow up the
trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and at the full moon on the day of our Feast.
He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
He sends forth His word and melts them; He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
The wind blows southward, then turns northward; round and round it swirls, ever returning on its course.
Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south;
blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind.
Breathe on my garden and spread the
fragrance of its spices. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choicest fruits.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the
stubble, and the flame consumeth the
chaff, so their root shall be as
rottenness, and their
blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will decay and their blossoms will
blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of Hosts and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
He who
smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is
persecuted, and none hindereth.
It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing
blows; it subdued the nations in
rage with relentless persecution.
All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an
ensign on the mountains; and when he
bloweth a
trumpet, hear ye.
All you people of the world and dwellers of the earth, when a
banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it; when a ram’s horn sounds, you will hear it.
The paper reeds by the
brooks, by the mouth of the
brooks, and every thing sown by the
brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.
The bulrushes by the Nile, by the mouth of the river, and all the fields sown along the Nile, will wither, blow away, and be no more.
In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou
wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.
By warfare and exile You
contended with her and removed her with a fierce wind, as on the day the east wind
blows.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great
trumpet shall be
blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
And in that day a great ram’s horn will sound, and those who were perishing in Assyria will come forth with those who were exiles in Egypt. And they will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as
chaff that passeth away:
yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
But your many foes will be like fine dust, the multitude of the
ruthless like
blowing chaff. Then suddenly, in an instant,
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
The grass
withers and the flowers fall when the breath of the LORD
blows on them; indeed, the people are grass.
Yea, they shall not be planted;
yea, they shall not be sown:
yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also
blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the
whirlwind shall take them away as
stubble.
No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner have their stems taken root in the ground, than He
blows on them and they wither, and a
whirlwind sweeps them away like
stubble.
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
Behold, I have created the
craftsman who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its task; and I have created the destroyer to
wreak havoc.
Declare ye in Judah, and
publish in Jerusalem; and say,
Blow ye the
trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say,
Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to
fan, nor to
cleanse,
At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A
searing wind from the barren heights in the desert
blows toward the daughter of My people, but not to
winnow or to
sift;
O ye children of Benjamin, gather
yourselves to
flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and
blow the
trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Beth-haccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.
“Run for cover, O sons of Benjamin;
flee from Jerusalem! Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa; send up a signal over Beth-haccherem, for
disaster looms from the north, even great destruction.
The
bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not
plucked away.
The
bellows blow fiercely, blasting away the lead with fire. The refining proceeds in vain, for the wicked are not
purged.
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very
grievous blow.
You are to speak this word to them: ‘My eyes overflow with tears; day and night they do not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people has been
shattered by a
crushing blow, a severely
grievous wound.
Set ye up a standard in the land,
blow the
trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of
Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz;
appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.
“Raise a
banner in the land!
Blow the ram’s horn among the nations! Prepare the nations against her.
Summon the kingdoms against her—
Ararat, Minni, and
Ashkenaz.
Appoint a captain against her; bring up horses like
swarming locusts.
And mine eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity: I will
recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
I will not look on you with
pity, nor will I
spare you, but I will
punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the
blow.
They have
blown the
trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
They have
blown the
trumpet and made everything ready, but no one goes to war, for My wrath is upon the whole multitude.
And I will pour out mine
indignation upon thee, I will
blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of
brutish men, and skilful to destroy.
I will pour out My anger upon you; I will
breathe the fire of My
fury against you; I will hand you over to
brutal men, skilled in destruction.
As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to
blow the fire upon it, to
melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my
fury, and I will leave you there, and
melt you.
Just as one gathers silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin into the furnace to
melt with a
fiery blast, so I will gather you in My anger and wrath, leave you there, and
melt you.
Yea, I will gather you, and
blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Yes, I will gather you together and
blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted within the city.
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou
mourn nor
weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
“Son of man, behold, I am about to take away the desire of your eyes with a fatal
blow. But you must not
mourn or
weep or let your tears flow.
And he shall set engines of war against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
He will direct the
blows of his
battering rams against your walls and
tear down your towers with his axes.
If when he
seeth the sword come upon the land, he
blow the
trumpet, and
warn the people;
and he sees the sword coming against that land and
blows the ram’s horn to
warn the people.
But if the
watchman see the sword come, and
blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not
warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the
watchman’s hand.
But if the
watchman sees the sword coming and fails to
blow the horn to
warn the people, and the sword comes and takes away a life, then that one will be taken away in his iniquity, but I will hold the
watchman accountable for his blood.’
Blow the ram’s horn in Gibeah, the
trumpet in
Ramah; raise the battle cry in Beth-
aven: Lead on, O Benjamin!
Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early
dew that passeth away, as the
chaff that is driven with the
whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the
chimney.
Therefore they will be like the morning
mist, like the early
dew that vanishes, like
chaff blown from a
threshing floor, like smoke through an open window.
Blow ye the
trumpet in
Zion, and sound an
alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land
tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is
nigh at hand;
Blow the ram’s horn in
Zion; sound the
alarm on My holy mountain! Let all who dwell in the land
tremble, for the Day of the LORD is coming; indeed, it is near—
Shall a
trumpet be
blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not
tremble? If
calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his own house.
And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his
arrow shall go forth as the
lightning: and the LORD GOD shall
blow the
trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
Then the LORD will appear over them, and His
arrow will go forth like
lightning. The Lord GOD will sound the ram’s horn and advance in the whirlwinds of the south.
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto
whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few
blows. From
everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded.
And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It will be hot,’ and it is.
The wind
bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and
whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
The wind
blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with
everyone born of the Spirit.”
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that
blew.
A strong wind was
blowing, and the sea grew
agitated.
And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the
jailer to keep them safely:
And after striking them with many
blows, they threw them into prison and ordered the
jailer to guard them securely.
And when the south wind
blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by
Crete.
When a gentle south wind began to
blow, they thought they had their opportunity. So they
weighed anchor and sailed along,
hugging the coast of
Crete.
But let him ask in faith, nothing
wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and
tossed.
But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea,
blown and
tossed by the wind.
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back its four winds so that no wind would blow on land or sea or on any tree.
For the hope of the ungodly is like dust that is
blown away with the wind; like a thin
froth that is driven away with the storm; like as the smoke which is
dispersed here and there with a
tempest, and passeth away as the
remembrance of a
guest that tarrieth but a day.
Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up against them, and like a storm shall
blow them away: thus iniquity shall lay waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.
If thou
blow the
spark, it shall burn: if thou
spit upon it, it shall be
quenched: and both these come out of thy mouth.
A man
blowing a furnace is in works of heat, but the sun burneth the mountains three times more; breathing out
fiery vapours, and sending forth bright beams, it dimmeth the eyes.
At his sight the mountains are
shaken, and at his will the south wind
bloweth.
When the cold north wind
bloweth, and the water is
congealed into ice, it abideth upon every gathering together of water, and clotheth the water as with a
breastplate.
In like manner the
lightning when it breaketh forth is easy to be seen; and after the same manner the wind
bloweth in every country.
