And king David said to Ornan,
Nay; but I will
verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor
offer burnt
offerings without cost.
“No,” replied King David, “I
insist on paying the full price, for I will not take for the LORD what belongs to you, nor will I
offer burnt
offerings that cost me nothing.”
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. He called upon the LORD, who answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him at the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he
offered sacrifices there.
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt
offering, were at that season in the high place at
Gibeon.
For the tabernacle of the LORD that Moses had made in the wilderness and the altar of burnt
offering were presently at the high place in
Gibeon,
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the LORD God, as well as the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
Both for the
shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat
offering, and for the
unleavened cakes, and for that which is
baked in the pan, and for that which is
fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.
Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
Then the leaders of the households, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.
Then the people
rejoiced, for that they
offered willingly, because with perfect heart they
offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also
rejoiced with great joy.
And the people
rejoiced at the willing
response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. And King David also
rejoiced greatly.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and
offered burnt
offerings unto the LORD, on the
morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink
offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
And Solomon went up thither to the
brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and
offered a thousand burnt
offerings upon it.
Solomon offered sacrifices there before the LORD on the bronze altar in the Tent of Meeting, where he offered a thousand burnt offerings.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt
offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt
offerings every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.
He also made ten basins for washing and placed five on the south side and five on the north. The parts of the burnt
offering were
rinsed in them, but the priests used the Sea for washing.
Now, my God, let, I
beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be
attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Now, my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears
attentive to the prayer
offered in this place.
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.
And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded
trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
The priests stood at their posts, as did the Levites with the musical instruments of the LORD, which King David had made for giving
thanks to the LORD and with which David had
offered praise, saying, “For His loving devotion endures
forever.” Across from the Levites, the priests sounded
trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.
Moreover Solomon
hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he
offered burnt
offerings, and the fat of the peace
offerings, because the
brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt
offerings, and the meat
offerings, and the fat.
Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he
offered the burnt
offerings and the fat of the peace
offerings, since the bronze altar he had made could not contain all these
offerings.
Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears
attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Now My eyes will be open and My ears
attentive to the prayers
offered in this place.
Then Solomon
offered burnt
offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the
porch,
At that time Solomon
offered burnt
offerings to the LORD on the altar of the LORD he had built in front of the
portico.
Even after a certain rate every day,
offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for
offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the
porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
In keeping with the ordinances of his father David, Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites for their duties to offer praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily requirement. He also appointed gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate, for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their
apparel; his cupbearers also, and their
apparel; and his
ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
the food at his table, the seating of his servants, the service and
attire of his attendants and cupbearers, and the burnt
offerings he presented at the house of the LORD, it took her breath away.
And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the
shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the
candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have
forsaken him.
Every morning and every evening they present burnt
offerings and
fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of
showbread on the
ceremonially clean table, and every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have
forsaken Him.
And they
offered unto the LORD the same time, of the
spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the
plunder they had brought back.
And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
and next to him, Amasiah son of Zichri, the
volunteer for the LORD, and with him 200,000 mighty men of
valor.
Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to
offer the burnt
offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with
rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
Moreover, Jehoiada put the oversight of the house of the LORD into the hands of the
Levitical priests, whom David had appointed over the house of the LORD, to
offer burnt
offerings to the LORD as is written in the Law of Moses, with
rejoicing and song, as ordained by David.
And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada,
whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to
offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they
offered burnt
offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
When they were finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada to make with it the articles for the house of the LORD—utensils for the service and for the burnt offerings, dishes, and other objects of gold and silver. Throughout the days of Jehoiada, burnt offerings were presented regularly in the house of the LORD.
And they
withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast
trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
They took their stand against King Uzziah and said, “Uzziah, you have no right to offer incense to the LORD. Only the priests, the descendants of Aaron, are consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully; you will not receive honor from the LORD God.”
Then Uzziah was
wroth, and had a
censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was
wroth with the priests, the
leprosy even rose up in his
forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
Uzziah, with a
censer in his hand to
offer incense, was
enraged. But while he
raged against the priests in their presence in the house of the LORD before the altar of incense,
leprosy broke out on his
forehead.
And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and
provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.
In every city of Judah he built high places to
offer incense to other gods, and so he
provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers.
Also they have shut up the doors of the
porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor
offered burnt
offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.
They also shut the doors of the
portico and
extinguished the lamps. They did not burn incense or present burnt
offerings in the Holy Place of the God of Israel.
Then they went in to
Hezekiah the king, and said, We have
cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt
offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the
shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
Then they went in to King
Hezekiah and reported, “We have
cleansed the entire house of the LORD, the altar of burnt
offering with all its utensils, and the table of the
showbread with all its utensils.
And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.
They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And the king commanded the priests, the descendants of Aaron, to offer them on the altar of the LORD.
And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
Then they brought the goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly, who laid their hands on them.
And the priests killed them, and they made
reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an
atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt
offering and the sin
offering should be made for all Israel.
And the priests slaughtered the goats and put their blood on the altar for a sin
offering, to make
atonement for all Israel, because the king had ordered the burnt
offering and the sin
offering for all Israel.
And
Hezekiah commanded to
offer the burnt
offering upon the altar. And when the burnt
offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the
trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.
And
Hezekiah ordered that the burnt
offering be sacrificed on the altar. When the burnt
offering began, the song of the LORD and the
trumpets began as well, accompanied by the instruments of David king of Israel.
And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers
sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt
offering was finished.
The whole assembly was worshiping, the singers were singing, and the trumpeters were playing. All this continued until the burnt offering was completed.
And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.
When the offerings were completed, the king and all those present with him bowed down and worshiped.
Then
Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated
yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and
thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and
thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt
offerings.
Then
Hezekiah said, “Now that you have consecrated
yourselves to the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.” So the assembly brought sacrifices and
thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt
offerings.
And the number of the burnt
offerings, which the congregation brought, was
threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt
offering to the LORD.
The number of burnt offerings the assembly brought was seventy bulls, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.
And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
And the consecrated offerings were six hundred bulls and three thousand sheep.
But the priests were too few, so that they could not
flay all the burnt
offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had
sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to
sanctify themselves than the priests.
However, since there were not enough priests to skin all the burnt
offerings, their
Levite brothers helped them until the work was finished and until the priests had been consecrated. For the Levites had been more
diligent in
consecrating themselves than the priests had been.
And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.
Furthermore, the burnt
offerings were abundant, along with the fat of the peace
offerings and the drink
offerings for the burnt
offerings. So the service of the house of the LORD was established.
Then they killed the
passover on the
fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were
ashamed, and
sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt
offerings into the house of the LORD.
And on the
fourteenth day of the second month they slaughtered the
Passover lamb. The priests and Levites were
ashamed, and they consecrated themselves and brought burnt
offerings to the house of the LORD.
And
Hezekiah spake
comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days,
offering peace
offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.
And
Hezekiah encouraged all the Levites who performed
skillfully before the LORD. For seven days they
ate their assigned portion, sacrificing
fellowship offerings and giving
thanks to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And
Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt
offerings and for peace
offerings, to minister, and to give
thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.
Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—for the burnt
offerings and peace
offerings, for ministry, for giving
thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.
He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.
The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.
And
Azariah the chief priest of the house of
Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the
offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left
plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.
and
Azariah, the chief priest of the household of
Zadok, answered him, “Since the people began to bring their contributions into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and there is
plenty left over, because the LORD has blessed His people; this great abundance is what is left over.”
And brought in the
offerings and the
tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: over which Cononiah the
Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next.
And they faithfully brought in the contributions,
tithes, and dedicated gifts. Conaniah the
Levite was the officer in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second.
And Kore the son of Imnah the
Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the
freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things.
Kore son of Imnah the
Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the
freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions to the LORD and the consecrated gifts.
And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to
Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was
magnified in the sight of all nations from
thenceforth.
Many brought
offerings to Jerusalem for the LORD and valuable gifts for
Hezekiah king of Judah, and from then on he was
exalted in the eyes of all nations.
And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed
thereon peace
offerings and
thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.
Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace
offerings and
thank offerings on it, and he told Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
And
Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the
passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king’s substance.
From his own flocks and herds
Josiah contributed 30,000 lambs and goats
plus 3,000 bulls for the
Passover offerings for all the people who were present.
And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and
Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the
passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
His officials also contributed willingly to the people and priests and Levites. Hilkiah,
Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of the house of God, gave the priests 2,600
Passover offerings and 300 bulls.
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for
passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
Additionally, Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad, officers of the Levites,
donated to the Levites 5,000
Passover offerings and 500 bulls.
And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.
They set aside the burnt offerings to be given to the divisions of the families of the people to offer to the LORD, as is written in the Book of Moses; and they did the same with the bulls.
And they
roasted the
passover with fire according to the
ordinance: but the other holy
offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.
They
roasted the
Passover animals on the fire according to the regulation, and they boiled the other holy
offerings in pots, kettles, and
bowls and quickly brought them to all the people.
And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were
busied in
offering of burnt
offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.
Afterward, they made preparations for themselves and for the priests, since the priests, the descendants of Aaron, were
offering up burnt
offerings and fat until
nightfall. So the Levites made preparations for themselves and for the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the
passover, and to
offer burnt
offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king
Josiah.
So on that day the entire service of the LORD was carried out for
celebrating the
Passover and
offering burnt
offerings on the altar of the LORD, according to the command of King
Josiah.
And
whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the
freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.
And let every
survivor, wherever he lives, be assisted by the men of that region with silver, gold, goods, and
livestock, along with a
freewill offering for the house of God in Jerusalem.’”
And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.
And all their neighbors supported them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and
livestock, and with valuables, in addition to all their
freewill offerings.
And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave
freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.
Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to
offer burnt
offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
Then Jeshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests, along with
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates, began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt
offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they
offered burnt
offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt
offerings morning and evening.
They set up the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD—both the morning and evening burnt offerings—even though they feared the people of the land.
They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
They also celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles in accordance with what is written, and they offered burnt offerings daily based on the number prescribed for each day.
And afterward
offered the continual burnt
offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly
offered a
freewill offering unto the LORD.
After that, they presented the regular burnt
offerings and those for New Moons and for all the appointed sacred feasts of the LORD, as well as all the
freewill offerings brought to the LORD.
From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.
On the first day of the seventh month, the Israelites began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, although the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.
In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they
offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof
threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof
threescore cubits;
In the first year of King Cyrus, he issued a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem: Let the house be rebuilt as a place for offering sacrifices, and let its foundations be firmly laid. It is to be sixty cubits high and sixty cubits wide,
And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, and lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, as well as wheat, salt, wine, and oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given to them daily without fail.
That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
Then they will be able to
offer sacrifices of a sweet
aroma to the God of heaven and to pray for the lives of the king and his sons.
And
offered at the
dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin
offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
For the
dedication of the house of God they
offered a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and a sin
offering for all Israel of twelve male goats, one for each tribe of Israel.
And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely
offered unto the God of Israel, whose
habitation is in Jerusalem,
Moreover, you are to take with you the silver and gold that the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem,
And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the
freewill offering of the people, and of the priests,
offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:
together with all the silver and gold you may find in all the province of Babylon, as well as the
freewill offerings of the people and priests to the house of their God in Jerusalem.
That thou mayest
buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat
offerings and their drink
offerings, and
offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
With this money, therefore, you are to
buy as many bulls, rams, and lambs as needed, together with their grain
offerings and drink
offerings, and
offer them on the altar at the house of your God in Jerusalem.
And
weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the
offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had
offered:
and I
weighed out to them the contribution of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his counselors, his leaders, and all the Israelites there had
offered for the house of our God.
And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a
freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.
Then I told them, “You are holy to the LORD, and these articles are holy. The silver and gold are a
freewill offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.
Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity,
offered burnt
offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel,
ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin
offering: all this was a burnt
offering unto the LORD.
Then the exiles who had returned from captivity sacrificed burnt offerings to the God of Israel: 12 bulls for all Israel, 96 rams, 77 lambs, and a sin offering of 12 male goats. All this was a burnt offering to the LORD.
Then were assembled unto me every one that
trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the
transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat
astonied until the evening sacrifice.
Then
everyone who
trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat there in
horror until the evening
offering.
And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my
heaviness; and having rent my garment and my
mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God.
At the evening
offering, I got up from my
humiliation with my
tunic and
cloak torn, and I fell on my knees, spread out my hands to the LORD my God,
And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they
offered a ram of the flock for their
trespass.
Maaseiah,
Eliezer, Jarib, and Gedaliah. They
pledged to send their wives away, and for their guilt they presented a ram from the flock as a guilt
offering.
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they
fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the
rubbish which are burned?
before his associates and the army of Samaria, saying, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Can they restore the wall by themselves? Will they
offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of
rubble?”
For the
shewbread, and for the continual meat
offering, and for the continual burnt
offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin
offerings to make an
atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
for the
showbread, for the regular grain
offerings and burnt
offerings, for the Sabbath
offerings, for the New Moons and appointed feasts, for the holy
offerings, for the sin
offerings to make
atonement for Israel, and for all the duties of the house of our God.
And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law:
We have cast lots among the priests, Levites, and people for the
donation of wood by our families at the appointed times each year. They are to bring it to the house of our God to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law.
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our
dough, and our
offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the
tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the
tithes in all the cities of our
tillage.
Moreover, we will bring to the priests at the storerooms of the house of our God the firstfruits of our
dough, of our grain
offerings, of the fruit of all our trees, and of our new wine and oil. A tenth of our produce belongs to the Levites, so that they shall receive
tithes in all the towns where we labor.
For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the
offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the
porters, and the singers: and we will not
forsake the house of our God.
For the Israelites and the Levites are to bring the contributions of grain, new wine, and oil to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are kept and where the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers stay. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.”
And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.
And the people blessed all the men who
volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
Also that day they
offered great sacrifices, and
rejoiced: for God had made them
rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children
rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even
afar off.
On that day they
offered great sacrifices,
rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also
rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from
afar.
And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the
offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the
tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah
rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
And on that same day men were appointed over the rooms that housed the supplies, contributions, firstfruits, and
tithes. The portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites were gathered into these storerooms from the fields of the villages, because Judah
rejoiced over the priests and Levites who were serving.
And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where
aforetime they laid the meat
offerings, the
frankincense, and the vessels, and the
tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the
porters; and the
offerings of the priests.
and had prepared for
Tobiah a large room where they had previously stored the grain
offerings, the
frankincense, the temple articles, and the
tithes of grain, new wine, and oil prescribed for the Levites, singers, and gatekeepers, along with the contributions for the priests.
Then I commanded, and they
cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat
offering and the
frankincense.
Then I ordered that the rooms be
purified, and I had the articles of the house of God restored to them, along with the grain
offerings and
frankincense.
And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
I also arranged for contributions of wood at the appointed times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, with favor.
And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and
sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and
offered burnt
offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have
sinned, and
cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
And when the days of feasting were over, Job would send for his children to
purify them, rising early in the morning to
offer burnt
offerings for all of them. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have
sinned and
cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
Have I ever said, ‘Give me something;
offer me a
bribe from your wealth;
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and
offer up for
yourselves a burnt
offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt
offering for
yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their drink
offerings of blood will I not
offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips.
