And when Paul was now about to open his mouth,
Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked
lewdness, O ye Jews,
reason would that I should bear with you:
But just as Paul was about to speak,
Gallio told the Jews, “If this matter involved a
wrongdoing or
vicious crime, O Jews, it would be
reasonable for me to hear your
complaint.
And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the
synagogue, and
reasoned with the Jews.
When they reached Ephesus, Paul parted ways with
Priscilla and
Aquila. He himself went into the
synagogue there and
reasoned with the Jews.
The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and
bade that he should be examined by
scourging; that he might know wherefore they
cried so against him.
the commander ordered that Paul be brought into the
barracks. He directed that Paul be
flogged and
interrogated to determine the
reason for this outcry against him.
On the
morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
The next day the commander, wanting to learn the real
reason Paul was accused by the Jews, released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole
Sanhedrin to
assemble. Then he brought Paul down and had him stand before them.
And as he
reasoned of righteousness,
temperance, and judgment to come
Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
As Paul
expounded on righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment,
Felix became
frightened and said, “You may go for now. When I find the time, I will call for you.”
For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me.
For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
So for this reason I have called to see you and speak with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”
And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
For this cause God gave them up unto
vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
For the creation was subjected to
futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope
I
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
Therefore I
urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
For this reason Christ died and returned to life, that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
For though I
preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me;
yea,
woe is unto me, if I
preach not the gospel!
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
I speak to
reasonable people; judge for
yourselves what I say.
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
For this reason a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away
childish things.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I
reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside
childish ways.
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
Indeed, what was once glorious has no glory now in comparison to the glory that surpasses it.
Wherefore
shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our
boasting on your behalf.
In full view of the churches, then, show these men the proof of your love and the
reason for our
boasting about you.
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have
rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
Each one should test his own work. Then he will have
reason to
boast in himself alone, and not in someone else.
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles...
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
... for this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
For this cause, when I could no longer
forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the
tempter have
tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
For this
reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the
tempter had
somehow tempted you and caused our labor to be in vain.
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our
affliction and distress by your faith:
For this
reason, brothers, in all our distress and persecution, we have been
reassured about you, because of your faith.
And for this cause God shall send them strong
delusion, that they should believe a lie:
For this
reason God will send them a powerful
delusion so that they believe the lie,
But for this very
reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect
patience as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity.
For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
Wherefore I put thee in
remembrance that thou
stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
For this
reason I remind you to
fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not
ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
For this
reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not
ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am
convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.
Therefore I
endure all things for the
elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
For this
reason I
endure all things for the sake of the
elect, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
For this cause left I thee in
Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and
ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
The
reason I left you in
Crete was that you would set in order what was unfinished and
appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a
merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make
reconciliation for the sins of the people.
For this
reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a
merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make
atonement for the sins of the people.
And by
reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
That is why he is
obligated to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by
reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both good and evil.
But solid food is for the
mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.

Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to
envy?
Or do you think the Scripture says without
reason that the Spirit He caused to dwell in us yearns with
envy?
But
sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a
reason of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear:
But in your hearts
sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a
defense to
everyone who asks you the
reason for the hope that is in you. But
respond with gentleness and respect,
And beside this, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;
And many shall follow their
pernicious ways; by
reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Many will follow in their
depravity, and because of them the way of truth will be
defamed.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
For this reason, they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and the One seated on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them.
And I
beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice,
Woe,
woe,
woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by
reason of the other voices of the
trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, “
Woe!
Woe!
Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the
trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three angels!”
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were
darkened by
reason of the smoke of the pit.
The star opened the pit of the
Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were
darkened by the smoke from the pit.
Then they will throw dust on their heads as they
weep and
mourn and cry out: “
Woe,
woe to the great city, where all who had ships on the sea were enriched by her wealth! For in a single hour she has been destroyed.”
Behold, now are we before thee in our
iniquities, for we cannot stand any longer by
reason of these things before thee.
For the ungodly said,
reasoning with themselves, but not
aright, Our life is short and
tedious, and in the death of a man there is no remedy: neither was there any man known to have returned from the grave.
The natures of living creatures, and the
furies of wild beasts: the violence of winds, and the
reasonings of men: the
diversities of plants and the virtues of roots:
For wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passeth and goeth through all things by reason of her pureness.
Therefore unto them, as to children without the use of
reason, thou
didst send a judgment to
mock them.
For fear is nothing else but a
betraying of the succours which
reason offereth.
For whereas they would not believe any thing by
reason of the enchantments; upon the destruction of the
firstborn, they acknowledged this people to be the sons of God.

doth meditate good things in wisdom, and that
reasoneth of holy things by his understanding.

In those days also was there a very great famine, by
reason whereof the country revolted, and went with them.
We therefore at all times without ceasing, both in our feasts, and other convenient days, do remember you in the sacrifices which we offer, and in our prayers, as reason is, and as it becometh us to think upon our brethren:
By
reason whereof all my brethren are slain for Israel’s sake, and I am left alone.
Wherefore Tryphon made ready all his
horsemen to come that night: but there fell a very great snow, by
reason whereof he came not. So he departed, and came into the country of Galaad.
In like manner also
Judas gathered together all those things that were lost by
reason of the war we had, and they remain with us,

reason whereof sore calamity came upon them: for they had them to be their enemies and avengers, whose custom they followed so earnestly, and unto whom they desired to be like in all things.
Thus he that had driven many out of their country perished in a strange land, retiring to the Lacedemonians, and thinking there to find succour by reason of his kindred:
And persuaded them to agree to all
reasonable conditions, and promised that he would
persuade the king that he must needs be a friend unto them.
Now when
Timotheus had knowledge of
Judas’ coming, he sent the women and children and the other
baggage unto a fortress called Carnion: for the town was hard to
besiege, and uneasy to come unto, by
