May this water that brings a
curse enter your
stomach and cause your
belly to swell and your
thigh to
shrivel.’ Then the woman is to say, ‘
Amen,
Amen.’
And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the
maw.
This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore
Abner with the hinder end of the
spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the
spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where
Asahel fell down and died stood still.
But
Asahel refused to turn away; so
Abner thrust the
butt of his
spear into his
stomach, and it came out his back, and he fell dead on the spot. And every man
paused when he came to the place where
Asahel had fallen and died.
And when
Abner was returned to
Hebron,
Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and
smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of
Asahel his brother.
And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have
fetched wheat; and they
smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
They entered the interior of the house as if to get some wheat, and they
stabbed him in the
stomach. Then Rechab and his brother Baanah
slipped away.
But
Amasa took no
heed to the sword that was in
Joab’s hand: so he
smote him
therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his
bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So
Joab and
Abishai his brother pursued after
Sheba the son of Bichri.
Yet his meat in his
bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
yet in his
stomach his food
sours into the
venom of cobras within him.
He hath
swallowed down riches, and he shall
vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his
belly.
He
swallows wealth but vomits it out; God will force it from his
stomach.
When he is about to fill his
belly, God shall cast the
fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
When he has filled his
stomach, God will
vent His
fury upon him, raining it down on him as he eats.
The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the
belly of the wicked shall want.
A righteous man eats to his heart’s content, but the stomach of the wicked is empty.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be
stink; and instead of a
girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair
baldness; and instead of a
stomacher a
girding of
sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
Instead of
fragrance there will be a
stench; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of styled hair,
baldness; instead of fine clothing,
sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame.
Ask ye now, and see whether a man
doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in
travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
Ask now, and see: Can a male give birth? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale?
And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy
belly to eat, and fill thy
bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “eat and fill your
stomach with this
scroll I am giving you.” So I
ate, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their
bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem unclean. Their silver and gold cannot save them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their appetites or fill their
stomachs with wealth, for it became the
stumbling block that brought their iniquity.
Do not ye yet understand, that
whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the
belly, and is cast out into the draught?
“Do you not yet
realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the
stomach and then is
eliminated?
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the
belly, and goeth out into the draught,
purging all meats?
because it does not enter his heart, but it goes into the
stomach and then is
eliminated.” (Thus all foods are clean.)
Meats for the
belly, and the
belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for
fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy
stomach’s sake and thine often
infirmities.
Stop drinking only water and use a little wine instead, because of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy
belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
And I went to the angel and said, “Give me the small
scroll.” “Take it and eat it,” he said. “It will make your
stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.”
And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and
ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my
belly was bitter.
So I took the small
scroll from the angel’s hand and
ate it; and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my
stomach turned bitter.
