And when the days of his
mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
When the days of
mourning had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s
court, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please tell Pharaoh that
And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields.
And the LORD did as Moses requested, and the frogs in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields died.
If men
strive, and
hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
If men who are fighting strike a
pregnant woman and her child is born
prematurely, but there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband demands and as the
court allows.

court of fine
twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:
You are also to make a

courtyard shall be fifty cubits wide, with ten posts and ten bases.
And the breadth of the court on the east side eastward shall be fifty cubits.

courtyard shall be twenty cubits long, with a
curtain embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely
spun linen. It shall have four posts and four bases.
All the pillars round about the
court shall be
filleted with silver; their hooks shall be of silver, and their sockets of brass.
All the posts around the
courtyard shall have silver bands, silver hooks, and bronze bases.

courtyard, along with their ropes;
And he made the
court: on the south side southward the hangings of the
court were of fine
twined linen, an hundred cubits:
Then he constructed the
courtyard. The south side of the
courtyard was a hundred cubits long and had curtains of finely
spun linen,
And for the other side of the court gate, on this hand and that hand, were hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets three.
And the curtains on the other side were also fifteen cubits long, with three posts and three bases as well.
All the hangings of the
court round about were of fine
twined linen.
All the curtains around the
courtyard were made of finely
spun linen.
And the sockets for the pillars were of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver; and the overlaying of their chapiters of silver; and all the pillars of the
court were

The bases for the posts were bronze, the hooks and bands were silver, and the plating for the tops of the posts was silver. So all the posts of the
courtyard were banded with silver.
And the hanging for the gate of the
court was
needlework, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen: and twenty cubits was the length, and the height in the breadth was five cubits, answerable to the hangings of the

The
curtain for the entrance to the
courtyard was
embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely
spun linen. It was twenty cubits long and, like the curtains of the

the curtains of the
courtyard with its posts and bases; the
curtain for the gate of the
courtyard, its ropes and tent pegs, and all the

And thou shalt set up the
court round about, and
hang up the hanging at the
court gate.
And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.
And Moses set up the
courtyard around the tabernacle and the altar, and he hung the
curtain for the entrance to the
courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with
unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the
court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it.
Aaron and his sons are to eat the remainder. It must be eaten without
leaven in a holy place; they are to eat it in the
courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
The priest that offereth it for sin shall eat it: in the holy place shall it be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation.
The priest who offers it shall eat it; it must be eaten in a holy place, in the
courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.

court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall
reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden.
and the posts of the surrounding

If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall
justify the righteous, and
condemn the wicked.
If there is a dispute between men, they are to go to
court to be judged, so that the innocent may be
acquitted and the guilty condemned.
Nevertheless a
lad saw them, and told
Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man’s house in Bahurim, which had a well in his
court;
whither they went down.
But a young man did see them and told
Absalom. So the two left quickly and came to the house of a man in Bahurim. He had a well in his
courtyard, and they
climbed down into it.
And he built the inner
court with three rows of
hewed stone, and a row of
cedar beams.
And his house where he dwelt had another
court within the
porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this
porch.
And the palace where Solomon would live, set further back, was of similar construction. He also made a palace like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had married.
All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of
hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the
coping, and so on the outside toward the great
court.
All these buildings were constructed with costly stones, cut to size and
trimmed with saws inside and out from the foundation to the
eaves, and from the outside to the great
courtyard.
And the great
court round about was with three rows of
hewed stones, and a row of
cedar beams, both for the inner
court of the house of the LORD, and for the
porch of the house.
The same day did the king
hallow the middle of the
court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the
brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
On that same day the king consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar before the LORD was too small to contain all these offerings.
And it came to pass,
afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle
court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
Before Isaiah had left the middle
courtyard, the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.
And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of
Nathan-melech the
chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the
chariots of the sun with fire.
And he removed from the entrance to the house of the LORD the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun. They were in the
court near the chamber of an official named
Nathan-melech. And
Josiah burned up the
chariots of the sun.
And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of
Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which
Manasseh had made in the two
courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and
brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the
brook Kidron.
He pulled down the altars that the kings of Judah had set up on the roof near the upper chamber of
Ahaz, and the altars that
Manasseh had set up in the two
courtyards of the house of the LORD. The king
pulverized them there and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.
And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king’s presence, which were found in the city, and the principal
scribe of the host, which
mustered the people of the land, and
threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
Of those still in the city, he took a
court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as five royal advisors. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the
courts, and in the chambers, and in the
purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible for the
courts and chambers, the
purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,
At Parbar westward, four at the
causeway, and two at Parbar.
As for the
court on the west, there were four at the
highway and two at the
court.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and cattle of the king and his sons, along with the
court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the
courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the
treasuries of the house of God, and of the
treasuries of the dedicated things:
The plans contained everything David had in mind for the
courts of the house of the LORD, for all the surrounding rooms, for the
treasuries of the house of God and of the dedicated things,
Furthermore he made the
court of the priests, and the great
court, and doors for the
court, and overlaid the doors of them with brass.
He made the
courtyard of the priests and the large
court with its doors, and he overlaid the doors with bronze.
For Solomon had made a
brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the
court: and upon it he stood, and
kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
Now Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had placed it in the middle of the
courtyard. He stood on it,
knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
Moreover Solomon
hallowed the middle of the
court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the
brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar he had made could not contain all these offerings.
And
Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new
court,
Then
Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the LORD in front of the new
courtyard And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.
a third shall be at the royal palace, and a third at the Foundation Gate, while all the others are in the courtyards of the house of the LORD.
And they
conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the
court of the house of the LORD.
And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to
cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the
court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the
brook Kidron.
So the priests went inside the house of the LORD to
cleanse it, and they brought out to the
courtyard all the unclean things that they found in the temple of the LORD. Then the Levites took these things and carried them out to the Kidron Valley.
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.
Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king’s high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
and Palal son of Uzai made repairs opposite the angle and the tower that juts out from the upper palace of the king near the
courtyard of the guard. Next to him, Pedaiah son of Parosh
So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
And the people went out, brought back branches, and made booths on their own rooftops, in their courtyards, in the court of the house of God, and in the squares by the Water Gate and by the Gate of Ephraim.
And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for
Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the
courts of the house of God.
to return to Jerusalem. Then I discovered the evil that Eliashib had done on behalf of
Tobiah by providing him a room in the
courts of the house of God.
And when these days were
expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in
Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the
court of the garden of the king’s palace;
At the end of this time, in the garden
court of the royal palace, the king held a seven-day feast for all the people in the citadel of
Susa, from the least to the greatest.
And
Mordecai walked every day before the
court of the women’s house, to know how
Esther did, and what should become of her.
And every day
Mordecai would walk back and forth in front of the
court of the
harem to learn about
Esther’s
welfare and what was happening to her.
All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that
whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner
court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden
sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
“All the royal officials and the people of the king’s provinces know that one law applies to every man or woman who approaches the king in the inner
court without being summoned—that he be put to death. Only if the king extends the gold
scepter may that person live. But I have not been summoned to appear before the king for the past thirty days.”
Now it came to pass on the third day, that
Esther put on her royal
apparel, and stood in the inner
court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
On the third day,
Esther put on her royal
attire and stood in the inner
court of the palace across from the king’s quarters. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal
courtroom, facing the entrance.
And it was so, when the king saw
Esther the queen standing in the
court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to
Esther the golden
sceptre that was in his hand. So
Esther drew near, and touched the top of the
sceptre.
As soon as the king saw Queen
Esther standing in the
court, she found favor in his sight. The king extended the gold
scepter in his hand toward
Esther, and she approached and touched the
tip of the
scepter.
And the king said, Who is in the
court? Now
Haman was come into the outward
court of the king’s house, to speak unto the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows that he had prepared for him.
“Who is in the
court?” the king asked. Now
Haman had just entered the outer
court of the palace to ask the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows he had prepared for him.
And the king’s servants said unto him, Behold,
Haman standeth in the
court. And the king said, Let him come in.
So the king’s attendants answered him, “
Haman is there, standing in the
court.” “Bring him in,” ordered the king.
His children are far from safety, and they are
crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
His sons are far from safety,
crushed in
court without a defender.
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
For He is not a man like me, that I can answer Him, that we can take each other to court.
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
If He comes along to imprison you, or convenes a court, who can stop Him?
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid;
yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
You will lie down without fear, and many will court your favor.
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
Blessed is the one You choose and bring near to dwell in Your
courts! We are filled with the goodness of Your house, the
holiness of Your temple.
My soul longeth,
yea, even fainteth for the
courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
My soul longs, even
faints, for the
courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
For a day in thy
courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a
doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For better is one day in Your
courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a
doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall
flourish in the
courts of our God.
Planted in the house of the LORD, they will
flourish in the
courts of our God.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and enter His
courts.
In the courts of the LORD’S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
in the
courts of the LORD’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Hallelujah!
Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,
who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.
Go not forth
hastily to
strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
do not bring
hastily to
court. Otherwise, what will you do in the end when your
neighbor puts you to shame?
If a wise man contendeth with a
foolish man, whether he
rage or
laugh, there is no rest.
If a wise man goes to
court with a
fool, there will be
raving and
laughing with no resolution.
When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to
tread my
courts?
When you come to appear before Me, who has required this of you— this
trampling of My
courts?
And thorns shall come up in her palaces,
nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an
habitation of
dragons, and a
court for owls.
Her towers will be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers. She will become a
haunt for jackals, an abode for ostriches.
But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the
courts of my
holiness.
For those who harvest grain will eat it and praise the LORD, and those who gather grapes will drink the wine in My holy courts.”
Then came Jeremiah from
Tophet,
whither the LORD had sent him to
prophesy; and he stood in the
court of the LORD’S house; and said to all the people,
Then Jeremiah returned from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to
prophesy, and he stood in the
courtyard of the house of the LORD and proclaimed to all the people,
Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:
“This is what the LORD says: Stand in the
courtyard of the house of the LORD and speak all the words I have commanded you to speak to all the cities of Judah who come to worship there. Do not
omit a word.
(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
(This was after King Jeconiah, the queen mother, the
court officials, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the
craftsmen, and the metalsmiths had been exiled from Jerusalem.)
For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
At that time the army of the king of Babylon was
besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the
courtyard of the guard, which was in the palace of the king of Judah.
So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the
court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me,
Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the
redemption is thine;
buy it for
thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
Then, as the LORD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the
courtyard of the guard and urged me, ‘Please
buy my field in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for you own the right of inheritance and
redemption.
Buy it for
yourself.’” Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto
Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that
subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the
court of the prison.
and I gave this deed to
Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of my cousin Hanamel and the witnesses who were signing the purchase agreement and all the Jews sitting in the
courtyard of the guard.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
While Jeremiah was still confined in the
courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time:
The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the
calf;
The officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the
court officials, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the pieces of the
calf,
Then read
Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the
scribe, in the higher
court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD’S house, in the ears of all the people.
From the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the
scribe, which was in the upper
courtyard at the opening of the New Gate of the house of the LORD,
Baruch read from the
scroll the words of Jeremiah in the hearing of all the people.
And they went in to the king into the
court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the
scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
So the officials went to the king in the
courtyard. And having stored the
scroll in the chamber of Elishama the
scribe, they reported everything to the king.
Then
Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the
court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the
court of the prison.
So King
Zedekiah gave orders for Jeremiah to be placed in the
courtyard of the guard and given a
loaf of bread daily from the street of the bakers, until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the
courtyard of the guard.
Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the
dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the
court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the
dungeon there was no water, but
mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the
mire.
So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the
cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the
courtyard of the guard. They lowered Jeremiah with ropes into the
cistern, which had no water but only mud, and Jeremiah
sank down into the mud.
Now when Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the
dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;
Now Ebed-melech the
Cushite, a
court official in the royal palace, heard that Jeremiah had been put into the
cistern. While the king was sitting at the Gate of Benjamin,
So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the
dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the
court of the prison.
and they pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the
cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the
courtyard of the guard.
So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
And Jeremiah remained in the
courtyard of the guard until the day Jerusalem was captured.
Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the
court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
had Jeremiah brought from the
courtyard of the guard, and they turned him over to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So Jeremiah remained among his own people.
Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
And while Jeremiah had been confined in the
courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD had come to him:
Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the
remnant of the people whom he had recovered from
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from
Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from
Gibeon:
Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies with him took the whole
remnant of the people from
Mizpah whom he had recovered from
Ishmael son of Nethaniah after
Ishmael had killed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam: the soldiers, women, children, and
court officials he had brought back from
Gibeon.
He took also out of the city an
eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal
scribe of the host, who
mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
Of those still in the city, he took a
court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a
lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner
court, where the
idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
