And
Abram said, Lord GOD, what
wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the
steward of my house is this
Eliezer of Damascus?
But
Abram replied, “O Lord GOD, what can You give me, since I remain childless, and the
heir of my house is
Eliezer of Damascus?”
And
Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine
heir.
Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my
heir.”
And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine
heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own
bowels shall be thine
heir.
Then the word of the LORD came to
Abram, saying, “This one will not be your
heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your
heir.”
Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this
bondwoman and her son: for the son of this
bondwoman shall not be
heir with my son, even with Isaac.

They added, “There must be
heirs for the survivors of Benjamin, so that a tribe of Israel will not be

And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine
handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that
smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he
slew; and we will destroy the
heir also: and so they shall
quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
Now the whole clan has risen up against your
maidservant and said, ‘Hand over the one who struck down his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of the brother whom he killed. Then we will cut off the
heir as well!’ So they would
extinguish my one remaining
ember by not preserving my husband’s name or
posterity on the earth.”
And when
Athaliah the mother of
Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
But when
Athaliah the mother of
Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.
When
Athaliah the mother of
Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to
annihilate all the royal
heirs of the house of Judah.
And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and
heirs from Judah; My
elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
Concerning the
Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no
heir? why then
doth their king
inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
Concerning the
Ammonites, this is what the LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Is he without
heir? Why then has Milcom taken possession of
Gad? Why have his people settled in their cities?
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an
alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the
Ammonites; and it shall be a
desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be
heir unto them that were his
heirs, saith the LORD.
Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah of the
Ammonites. It will become a
heap of ruins, and its villages will be burned. Then Israel will drive out their dispossessors, says the LORD.
Yet will I bring an
heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto
Adullam the glory of Israel.
I will again bring a conqueror against you, O dweller of Mareshah. The glory of Israel will come to
Adullam.
But when the
husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the
heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’
But those
husbandmen said among themselves, This is the
heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
But when the
husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the
heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world was not given through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
For if those who live by the law are heirs, faith is useless and the promise is worthless,
And if children, then
heirs;
heirs of God, and joint-
heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.
And if we are children, then we are
heirs:
heirs of God and co-
heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be
glorified with Him.
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.
Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he is the owner of everything.
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.
Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the
bondwoman and her son: for the son of the
bondwoman shall not be
heir with the son of the free woman.
But what does the Scripture say? “
Expel the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
This
mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow
heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
so that, having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will
inherit salvation?
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to
shew unto the
heirs of promise the
immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the
heirs of the promise, He
guaranteed it with an oath.
By faith
Noah, being
warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became
heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith
Noah, when
warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became
heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
By faith he
sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the
heirs with him of the same promise:
By faith he dwelt in the promised land as a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and
heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Listen, my beloved brothers: Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to
inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him?
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow
heirs of the
gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
And that I never
polluted my name, nor the name of my father, in the land of my captivity: I am the only daughter of my father, neither hath he any child to be his
heir, neither any near
kinsman, nor any son of his alive, to whom I may keep myself for a wife: my seven husbands are already dead; and why should I live? but if it please not thee that I should die, command some regard to be had of me, and
pity taken of me, that I hear no more reproach.
Be faithful to thy neighbour in his poverty, that thou mayest
rejoice in his prosperity:
abide stedfast unto him in the time of his trouble, that thou mayest be
heir with him in his
heritage: for a mean estate is not always to be
contemned: nor the rich that is
foolish to be had in admiration.
Thus shall it go also with the wife that leaveth her husband, and bringeth in an heir by another.
