hastened into the tent unto
Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine
meal,
knead it, and make cakes upon the
hearth.
So Abraham
hurried into the tent and said to
Sarah, “Quick! Prepare three seahs of fine flour,
knead it, and
bake some bread.”
And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine
errand. And he said, Speak on.
Then a
meal was set before the man, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told you what I came to say.” So

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from
Gilead with their camels bearing
spicery and
balm and
myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
And as they sat down to eat a
meal, they looked up and saw a
caravan of
Ishmaelites coming from
Gilead. Their camels were carrying spices,
balm, and
myrrh on their way down to Egypt.

noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.

refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
Then he washed his face and came back out. Regaining his
composure, he said, “Serve the
meal.”
And in the first day there shall be an holy
convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly, and another on the seventh day. You must not do any work on those days, except to prepare the meals—that is all you may do.
Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an
ephah of barley
meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put
frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of
memorial, bringing iniquity to
remembrance.
then he is to bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring for her an offering of a tenth of an
ephah of barley flour. He is not to pour oil over it or put
frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, an offering of
memorial as a reminder of iniquity.
And Boaz said unto her, At
mealtime come thou
hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy
morsel in the
vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her
parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
At
mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come over here; have some bread and dip it into the
vinegar sauce.” So she sat down beside the harvesters, and he offered her
roasted grain, and she
ate and was satisfied and had some left over.
And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had
gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
She
picked up the grain and went into the town, where her mother-in-law saw what she had
gleaned. And she brought out what she had saved from her
meal and gave it to
Naomi.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto
Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of
Jesse to meat, neither
yesterday, nor to day?
But on the day after the New Moon, the second day, David’s place was still empty, and Saul asked his son
Jonathan, “Why hasn’t the son of
Jesse come to the
meal either
yesterday or
today?”

threescore measures of
meal,

And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a
cake, but an handful of
meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a
cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a
jar and a little oil in a
jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a
meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of
meal shall not waste, neither shall the
cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The
jar of flour will not be exhausted and the
jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”
And the barrel of
meal wasted not, neither did the
cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by
Elijah.
The
jar of flour was not exhausted and the
jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through
Elijah.
And it fell on a day, that
Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she
constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as
oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
One day
Elisha went to Shunem, and a prominent woman who lived there persuaded him to have a
meal. So whenever he would pass by, he would stop there to eat.
But he said, Then bring
meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no
harm in the pot.
Then
Elisha said, “Get some flour.” He threw it into the pot and said, “Pour it out for the people to eat.” And there was nothing
harmful in the pot.
Moreover they that were
nigh them, even unto
Issachar and
Zebulun and
Naphtali, brought bread on
asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat,
meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of
raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.
And their neighbors from as far away as
Issachar,
Zebulun, and
Naphtali came bringing food on
donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen—abundant supplies of flour, fig cakes and
raisin cakes, wine and oil, oxen and sheep. Indeed, there was joy in Israel.
Take the millstones, and
grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the
thigh, pass over the rivers.
Take millstones and
grind flour; remove your
veil; strip off your
skirt, bare your
thigh, and
wade through the streams.
For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of
mourning, neither go to
lament nor
bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and
mercies.
Indeed, this is what the LORD says: “Do not enter a house where there is a funeral
meal. Do not go to
mourn or show sympathy, for I have removed from this people My peace, My loving devotion, and My
compassion,” declares the LORD.
Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam to
Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in
Mizpah.
In the seventh month,
Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was a member of the royal family and one of the king’s chief officers, came with ten men to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam at
Mizpah, and they
ate a
meal together there.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall
reap the
whirlwind: it hath no
stalk: the
bud shall yield no
meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall
swallow it up.
For they
sow the wind, and they shall
reap the
whirlwind. There is no standing grain; what
sprouts fails to yield flour. Even if it should produce, the foreigners would
swallow it up.
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto
leaven, which a woman took, and
hid in three measures of
meal, till the whole was
leavened.
He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like
leaven that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour, until all of it was
leavened.”
But the
Pharisee was surprised to see that Jesus did not first wash before the
meal.
It is like
leaven, which a woman took and
hid in three measures of
meal, till the whole was
leavened.
It is like
leaven that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour, until all of it was
leavened.”
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready
wherewith I may
sup, and
gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and
drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my
meal and dress
yourself to serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’?
The evening
meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of
Judas, the son of Simon
Iscariot, to
betray Jesus.
And they, continuing daily with one
accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart,
With one
accord they continued to meet daily in the temple courts and to break bread from house to house, sharing their
meals with
gladness and
sincerity of heart,
And he became very
hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a
trance,
He became
hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the
meal was being prepared, he fell into a
trance.
And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and
rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Then he brought them into his home and set a
meal before them. So he and all his household
rejoiced that they had come to believe in God.
If any of them that believe not
bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go;
whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat anything set before you without raising questions of conscience.
For if I by grace be a
partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give
thanks?
For in eating every one taketh before other his own
supper: and one is
hungry, and another is
drunken.
For as you eat, each of you goes
ahead without sharing his
meal. While one remains
hungry, another gets
drunk.
See to it that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like
Esau, who for a single
meal sold his
birthright.
