And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the
moon and the eleven stars made
obeisance to me.
Then Joseph had another dream and told it to his brothers. “Look,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
And their drink offerings shall be half an
hin of wine unto a
bullock, and the third part of an
hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an
hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year.
Their drink offerings shall be half a
hin of wine with each bull, a third of a
hin with the ram, and a quarter
hin with each lamb. This is the monthly burnt offering to be made at each new
moon throughout the year.
And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
When you look to the heavens and see the sun and
moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be
enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has
apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;
and going to worship other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven—which I have forbidden—

with the
bountiful harvest from the sun and the abundant yield of the seasons,
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the
Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon
Gibeon; and thou,
Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
On the day that the LORD gave the
Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over
Gibeon, O
moon, over the Valley of
Aijalon.”
And the sun stood still, and the
moon stayed, until the people had
avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
So the sun stood still and the
moon stopped until the nation took
vengeance upon its enemies. Is this not written in the Book of
Jashar? “So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.”
And David said unto
Jonathan, Behold, to
morrow is the new
moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
So David told him, “Look,
tomorrow is the New
Moon, and I am supposed to
dine with the king. Instead, let me go and hide in the field until the third evening from now.
Then
Jonathan said to David, To
morrow is the new
moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
Then
Jonathan said to David, “
Tomorrow is the New
Moon, and you will be missed if your seat is empty.
So David
hid himself in the field: and when the new
moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
So David
hid in the field, and when the New
Moon had come, the king sat down to eat.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto
Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of
Jesse to meat, neither
yesterday, nor to day?
But on the day after the New
Moon, the second day, David’s place was still empty, and Saul asked his son
Jonathan, “Why hasn’t the son of
Jesse come to the meal either
yesterday or
today?”
And he said, Wherefore
wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new
moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.
“Why would you go to him
today?” he replied. “It is not a New
Moon or a Sabbath.” “Everything is all right,” she said.
And he put down the
idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto
Baal, to the sun, and to the
moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
Josiah also did away with the
idolatrous priests ordained by the kings of Judah to burn incense on the high places of the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem—those who had burned incense to
Baal, to the sun and
moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.
And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new
moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New
Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new
moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New
Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.
The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.
And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new
moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a
freewill offering unto the LORD.
After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings and those for New
Moons and for all the appointed sacred feasts of the LORD, as well as all the
freewill offerings brought to the LORD.
For the
shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new
moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an
atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
for the
showbread, for the regular grain offerings and burnt offerings, for the Sabbath offerings, for the New
Moons and appointed feasts, for the holy offerings, for the sin offerings to make
atonement for Israel, and for all the duties of the house of our God.
Behold even to the
moon, and it shineth not;
yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
If even the
moon does not
shine, and the stars are not pure in His sight,
He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
He covers the face of the full moon, spreading over it His cloud.
If I
beheld the sun when it
shined, or the
moon walking in brightness;
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
They shall fear thee as long as the sun and
moon endure, throughout all generations.
May they fear him as long as the sun shines, as long as the moon remains, through all generations.
In his days shall the righteous
flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the
moon endureth.
May the righteous
flourish in his days and prosperity abound, until the
moon is no more.
The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.
The day is Yours, and also the night; You established the moon and the sun.
Blow up the
trumpet in the new
moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and at the full moon on the day of our Feast.
It shall be established for ever as the
moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven.
Selah.
like the
moon, established
forever, a faithful witness in the sky.”
Selah He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows when to set.
The sun shall not
smite thee by day, nor the
moon by night.
The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.
the
moon and stars to
govern the night. His loving devotion endures
forever.
Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise Him, O sun and
moon; praise Him, all you
shining stars.
He hath taken a
bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
He took with him a
bag of money and will not return till the
moon is full.”
While the sun, or the light, or the
moon, or the stars, be not
darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
before the light of the sun,
moon, and stars is
darkened, and the clouds return after the rain,
Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?
Who is this who shines like the
dawn, as fair as the
moon, as bright as the sun, as
majestic as the stars in
procession?
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an
abomination unto me; the new
moons and sabbaths, the calling of
assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Bring your worthless offerings no more; your incense is
detestable to Me— your New
Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot
endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.
Your new
moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am
weary to bear them.
I
hate your New
Moons and your appointed feasts. They have become a burden to Me; I am
weary of bearing them.
In that day the Lord will take away the
bravery of their
tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the
moon,
In that day the Lord will take away their
finery: their anklets and headbands and crescents;
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be
darkened in his going forth, and the
moon shall not cause her light to
shine.
For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light. The rising sun will be
darkened, and the
moon will not give its light.
Then the
moon shall be confounded, and the sun
ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount
Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
The
moon will be confounded and the sun will be
ashamed; for the LORD of Hosts will reign on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
Moreover the light of the
moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be
sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
The light of the moon will be as bright as the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter—like the light of seven days—on the day that the LORD binds up the brokenness of His people and heals the wounds He has inflicted.
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the
moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an
everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
No longer will the sun be your light by day, nor the brightness of the
moon shine on your night; for the LORD will be your
everlasting light, and your God will be your
splendor.
Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy
moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine
everlasting light, and the days of thy
mourning shall be ended.
Your sun will no longer set, and your
moon will not
wane; for the LORD will be your
everlasting light, and the days of your sorrow will cease.
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.
And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the
moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof
roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the
moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves
roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name:
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
When I
extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and
darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the
moon will not give its light.
And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new
moons, and in the sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the feasts, New
Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
“This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘The gate of the inner court that faces east must be kept shut during the six days of work, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
On the Sabbaths and New
Moons the people of the land are also to bow in worship before the LORD at the entrance to that
gateway.
And in the day of the new
moon it shall be a young
bullock without
blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without
blemish.
On the day of the New
Moon he shall offer a young,
unblemished bull, six lambs, and a ram without
blemish.
I will also cause all her
mirth to cease, her feast days, her new
moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.
I will put an end to all her
exultation: her feasts, New
Moons, and Sabbaths— all her appointed feasts.
They have dealt
treacherously against the LORD: for they have
begotten strange children: now shall a month
devour them with their portions.
They have been unfaithful to the LORD; for they have borne
illegitimate children. Now the New
Moon will
devour them along with their land.
The earth shall
quake before them; the heavens shall
tremble: the sun and the
moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their
shining:
Before them the earth quakes; the heavens
tremble. The sun and
moon grow dark, and the stars lose their brightness.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the
moon to blood before the coming of the great and
awesome Day of the LORD.
The sun and the
moon shall be
darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their
shining.
The sun and
moon will grow dark, and the stars will no longer
shine.
Saying, When will the new
moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the
ephah small, and the
shekel great, and
falsifying the balances by
deceit?
asking, “When will the New
Moon be over, that we may sell grain? When will the Sabbath end, that we may market wheat? Let us reduce the
ephah and increase the
shekel; let us
cheat with
dishonest scales.
Sun and
moon stood still in their places at the
flash of Your flying arrows, at the brightness of Your
shining spear.
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the
moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken:
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be
darkened, and the
moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be
shaken.’
And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and
moored the boat.
But in those days, after that
tribulation, the sun shall be
darkened, and the
moon shall not give her light,
But in those days, after that
tribulation: ‘The sun will be
darkened, and the
moon will not give its light;
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the
moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with
perplexity; the sea and the waves
roaring;
There will be signs in the sun and
moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the nations,
bewildered by the
roaring of the sea and the
surging of the waves.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious Day of the Lord.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
The sun has one degree of
splendor, the
moon another, and the stars another; and star differs from star in
splendor.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an
holyday, or of the new
moon, or of the sabbath days:
Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath.
And I
beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great
earthquake; and the sun became black as
sackcloth of hair, and the
moon became as blood;
And when I saw the Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great
earthquake, and the sun became black like
sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole
moon turned blood red,
And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was
smitten, and the third part of the
moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was
darkened, and the day
shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
Then the fourth angel sounded his
trumpet, and a third of the sun and
moon and stars were struck. A third of the stars were
darkened, a third of the day was without light, and a third of the night as well.
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the
moon, to
shine in it: for the glory of God did
lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
And the city has no need of sun or
moon to
shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its lamp.
And after that, the continual oblations, and the sacrifice of the sabbaths, and of the new moons, and of all holy feasts.
And of the sons of Addi; Naathus, and Moosias, Lacunus, and Naidus, and Mathanias, and Sesthel, Balnuus, and Manasseas.
When ye offer unto me, I will turn my face from you: for your solemn feastdays, your new
moons, and your circumcisions, have I
forsaken.
But if the most High grant thee to live, thou shalt see after the third
trumpet that the sun shall suddenly
shine again in the night, and the
moon thrice in the day:
Upon the fourth day thou commandedst that the sun should
shine, and the
moon give her light, and the stars should be in order:
And she fasted all the days of her
widowhood, save the eves of the sabbaths, and the sabbaths, and the eves of the new
moons, and the new
moons and the feasts and solemn days of the house of Israel.
The discourse of a godly man is always with wisdom; but a
fool changeth as the
moon.
Yet have I more to say, which I have thought upon; for I am filled as the moon at the full.
He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.
From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.
He was as the morning star in the midst of a cloud, and as the moon at the full:
For sun,
moon, and stars, being bright and sent to do their offices, are
obedient.
Neither can they
shew signs in the heavens among the heathen, nor
shine as the sun, nor give light as the
moon.
O ye sun and
moon,
bless ye the Lord: praise and
exalt him above all for ever.
Furthermore I will that all the feasts, and sabbaths, and new
moons, and solemn days, and the three days before the feast, and the three days after the feast shall be all of
immunity and freedom for all the Jews in my realm.
