hired men are in the midst of her like

punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than that of
Sodom, which was overthrown in an instant without a hand turned to help her.

prolong your exile. But He will
punish your iniquity, O Daughter of
Edom; He will
expose your sins.

sinned and are no more, but we bear their
punishment.

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their
calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
Because you
harbored an ancient hatred and delivered the Israelites over to the sword in the time of their
disaster at the final stage of their

The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and hostility.

punishment thereof; because they have

revoke My judgment, because they
threshed Gilead with sledges of iron.

revoke My judgment, because they exiled a whole population, delivering them up to
Edom.

punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to
Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

revoke My judgment, because they delivered up a whole congregation of exiles to
Edom and broke a covenant of
brotherhood.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of
Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the
punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all
pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of
Edom, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and
stifled all
compassion; his anger
raged continually, and his
fury flamed
incessantly.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of
Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the
punishment thereof; because they have
ripped up the women with child of

enlarge their border:

revoke My judgment, because they
reject the Law of the LORD and fail to keep His statutes; they are led
astray by the lies in which their fathers walked.

revoke My judgment, because they sell the righteous for silver and the
needy for a pair of
sandals.

harm.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This will be the
punishment of Egypt and of all the nations that do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto
whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

punishment will be beaten with few blows. From
everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded.

For if the word spoken by angels was
stedfast, and every
transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every
transgression and disobedience received its just
punishment,
Of how much sorer
punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath
trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done
despite unto the Spirit of grace?
How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has
trampled on the Son of God,
profaned the blood of the covenant that
sanctified him, and
insulted the Spirit of grace?
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
or to governors as those sent by him to
punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for
punishment on the day of judgment.
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the
lust of uncleanness, and
despise government.
Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of
dignities.
Such
punishment is specially reserved for those who
indulge the corrupt desires of the flesh and
despise authority. Bold and self-willed, they are unafraid to
slander glorious beings.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath
torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.
Even as
Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to
fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the
vengeance of eternal fire.
In like manner,
Sodom and
Gomorrah and the cities around them, who
indulged in sexual immorality and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who
sustain the
punishment of eternal fire.
And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come
hither; I will
shew unto thee the judgment of the great
whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Then one of the seven angels with the seven
bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the
punishment of the great
prostitute, who sits on many waters.
And
whosoever shall
transgress the law of thy God, and of the king, shall be punished
diligently, whether it be by death, or other
punishment, by penalty of money, or by imprisonment.
For God hath given strait commandment to such as came, what they should do to live, even as they came, and what they should observe to avoid punishment.
For what profit is it for men now in this present time to live in
heaviness, and after death to look for
punishment?
Egypt shall
mourn, and the foundation of it shall be
smitten with the plague and
punishment that God shall bring upon it.
Thou therefore shalt go forth. and take
beforehand for me all their coasts: and if they will yield themselves unto thee, thou shalt reserve them for me till the day of their
punishment.
For when they heard by their own punishments the other to be benefited, they had some feeling of the Lord.
Instead of which
punishment, dealing
graciously with thine own people, thou preparedst for them meat of a strange taste, even quails to
stir up their
appetite:
For the creature that serveth thee, who art the Maker increaseth his strength against the unrighteous for their punishment, and abateth his strength for the benefit of such as put their trust in thee.
For the
destiny,
whereof they were worthy, drew them unto this end, and made them
forget the things that had already happened, that they might fulfil the
punishment which was wanting to their torments:
And
punishments came upon the sinners not without former signs by the force of thunders: for they suffered justly according to their own wickedness,
insomuch as they used a more hard and
hateful behaviour toward strangers.
In the punishment of the proud there is no remedy; for the plant of wickedness hath taken root in him.
Reproach not a man that turneth from sin, but remember that we are all worthy of punishment.

vengeance unto the ungodly, and keepeth them against the mighty day of their
punishment.
And being
kindled with anger,
forthwith he took away
Andronicus his purple, and rent off his clothes, and leading him through the whole city unto that very place, where he had committed impiety against Onias, there
slew he the
cursed murderer. Thus the Lord rewarded him his
punishment, as he had deserved.
Thus they that followed the matter for the city, and for the people, and for the holy vessels, did soon suffer unjust punishment.
Now I
beseech those that read this book, that they be not discouraged for these
calamities, but that they judge those
punishments not to be for destruction, but for a
chastening of our nation.
For though for the present time I should be delivered from the
punishment of men: yet should I not escape the hand of the
Almighty, neither alive, nor dead.
For our brethren, who now have suffered a short pain, are dead under God’s covenant of
everlasting life: but thou, through the judgment of God, shalt receive just
punishment for thy pride.
