drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

wineskin until they are
drunk, in order to
gaze at their nakedness!

booty, and their houses a
desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the
wine thereof.

plundered and their houses laid waste. They will build houses but not inhabit them, and plant vineyards but never drink their
wine.
And I called for a
drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new
wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
I have summoned a
drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new
wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your hands.”
If one bear holy flesh in the
skirt of his garment, and with his
skirt do touch bread, or
pottage, or
wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

stew,
wine, oil, or any other food, does that
item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.

devour, and
subdue with
sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through
wine; and they shall be filled like
bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and
conquer with slingstones; they will drink and
roar as with
wine. And they will be filled like
sprinkling bowls,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men

Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s
winepresses.
All the land from Geba to
Rimmon south of Jerusalem will be turned into a plain, but Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain in her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal
winepresses.

Neither do men pour new
wine into old
wineskins. If they do, the skins will
burst, the
wine will
spill, and the
wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new
wine into new
wineskins, and both are preserved.”

glutton and
drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is

vineyard, and
hedged it round about, and
digged a

husbandmen, and went into a far country:

wine into old bottles: else the new
wine doth burst the bottles, and the
wine is
spilled, and the bottles will be
marred: but new
wine must be put into new bottles.
And no one pours new
wine into old
wineskins. If he does, the
wine will
burst the skins, and both the
wine and the
wineskins will be ruined. Instead, new
wine is poured into new
wineskins.”
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a
vineyard, and set an
hedge about it, and
digged a place for the
winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a
vineyard. He put a wall around it,

watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.

Elijah comes to take Him down.”
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither
wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s
womb.
for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take
wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s
womb.
And no man putteth new
wine into old bottles; else the new
wine will
burst the bottles, and be
spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
And no one pours new
wine into old
wineskins. If he does, the new
wine will
burst the skins, the
wine will
spill, and the
wineskins will be ruined.

Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.

wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the
bridegroom aside
And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning
doth set forth good

wine until now.

Everyone serves the fine
wine first, and then the
cheap wine after the guests are
drunk. But you have saved the fine
wine until now!”

drunk with
wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
not dependent on wine, not violent but gentle, peaceable, and free of the love of money.

wine, not
greedy of
filthy lucre;

dignified, not double-tongued or given to much
wine or

holiness, not false accusers, not given to much
wine, teachers of good things;
Older women, likewise, are to be
reverent in their

wine, but teachers of good.
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in
lasciviousness, lusts, excess of
wine, revellings, banquetings, and
abominable idolatries:
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a
penny, and three measures of barley for a
penny; and see thou
hurt not the oil and the
wine.
And I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures, saying, “A
quart of wheat for a
denarius, and three quarts of barley for a
denarius, and do not
harm the oil and
wine.”
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the
wine of the wrath of her
fornication.
Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
The same shall drink of the
wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his
indignation; and he shall be
tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
he too will drink the
wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be
tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
And the angel thrust in his
sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great
winepress of the wrath of God.
So the angel
swung his
sickle over the earth and gathered the grapes of the earth, and he threw them into the great
winepress of God’s wrath.
And the
winepress was
trodden without the city, and blood came out of the
winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
And the
winepress was
trodden outside the city, and the blood that flowed from it rose as high as the bridles of the horses for a distance of 1,600
stadia.
And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in
remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the
wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations
collapsed. And God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup of the
wine of the
fury of His wrath.
With whom the kings of the earth have committed
fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made
drunk with the
wine of her
fornication.
The kings of the earth were immoral with her, and those who dwell on the earth were
intoxicated with the
wine of her immorality.”
For all nations have
drunk of the
wine of the wrath of her
fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed
fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her
delicacies.
All the nations have
drunk the
wine of the passion of her immorality. The kings of the earth were immoral with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown wealthy from the
extravagance of her
luxury.”
And
cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and
frankincense, and
wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and
chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

cinnamon,
spice, incense,
myrrh, and
frankincense; of
wine, olive oil, fine flour, and wheat; of cattle, sheep, horses, and
chariots; of slaves and souls of men.
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the
winepress of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God.
And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron
scepter. He treads the
winepress of the
fury of the wrath of God the
Almighty.
The first wrote, Wine is the strongest.
And he said unto them, Declare unto us your mind concerning the writings. Then began the first, who had spoken of the strength of wine;
And he said thus, O ye men, how exceeding strong is
wine! it causeth all men to
err that drink it:
But when they are from the wine, they remember not what they have done.
O ye men, is not wine the strongest, that enforceth to do thus? And when he had so spoken, he held his peace.
O ye men, it is not the great king, nor the multitude of men, neither is it
wine, that excelleth; who is it then that ruleth them, or hath the
lordship over them? are they not women?
Even of them came they: and they
nourished them up that planted the vineyards, from whence the
wine cometh.
Wine is wicked, the king is wicked, women are wicked, all the children of men are wicked, and such are all their wicked works; and there is no truth in them; in their unrighteousness also they shall perish.
And also corn, salt,
wine, and oil, and that continually every year without further question, according as the priests that be in Jerusalem shall
signify to be daily spent:

But go into a field of flowers, where no house is builded, and eat only the flowers of the field; taste no flesh, drink no wine, but eat flowers only;)

drunkenness go with thee in thy journey.

maid a
bottle of
wine, and a
cruse of oil, and filled a
bag with
parched corn, and lumps of figs, and with fine bread; so she folded all these things together, and laid them upon her.
And are resolved to
spend the firstfruits of the tenths of
wine and oil, which they had
sanctified, and reserved for the priests that serve in Jerusalem before the face of our God; the which things it is not lawful for any of the people so much as to touch with their hands.

bade that they should prepare for her of his own meats, and that she should drink of his own
wine.
Then went Bagoas from the presence of Holofernes, and came to her, and he said, Let not this fair
damsel fear to come to my lord, and to be honoured in his presence, and drink
wine, and be
merry with us and be made this day as one of the daughters of the Assyrians, which serve in the house of Nabuchodonosor.
And Holofernes took great delight in her, and
drank more
wine than he had
drunk at any time in one day since he was born.
And
Judith was left alone in the tent, and Holofernes lying alone upon his bed: for he was filled with
wine.

handmaid hath not eaten at Aman’s table, and that I have not greatly esteemed the king’s feast, nor
drunk the
wine of the drink offerings.

Sit not at all with another man’s wife, nor sit down with her in thine arms, and
spend not thy money with her at the
wine; lest thine heart
incline unto her, and so through thy desire thou fall into destruction.

The furnace proveth the edge by
dipping: so

drunk moderately: what life is then to a man that is without
wine? for it was made to make men
glad.
As a
signet of an
emerald set in a work of gold, so is the
melody of musick with pleasant
wine.
I
awaked up last of all, as one that gathereth after the grapegatherers: by the blessing of the Lord I profited, and tred my
winepress like a gatherer of grapes.
Wine and musick
rejoice the heart: but the love of wisdom is above them both.
The
remembrance of Josias is like the composition of the
perfume that is made by the art of the
apothecary: it is sweet as honey in all mouths, and as musick at a
banquet of
wine.
Now the Babylons had an
idol, called
Bel, and there were spent upon him every day twelve great measures of fine flour, and forty sheep, and six vessels of
wine.
So
Bel’s priests said, Lo, we go out: but thou, O king, set on the meat, and make ready the
wine, and shut the door fast and seal it with thine own
signet;
For as it is
hurtful to drink
wine or water alone; and as
wine mingled with water is pleasant, and delighteth the taste: even so speech finely framed delighteth the ears of them that read the story. And here shall be an end.
