All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death.
We know that
whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is
begotten of God keepeth himself,
and that wicked one toucheth him not.
We know that
anyone born of God does not keep on
sinning; the One who was born of God protects him,
and the evil one cannot touch him.
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
The elder unto the
elect lady
and her children, whom I love in the truth;
and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I alone, but also all who know the truth—
For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
because of the truth that abides in us
and will be with us
forever:
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, will be with us in truth and love.
And now I
beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
And now I
urge you,
dear lady—not as a new commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who
confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a
deceiver and an
antichrist.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, refusing to
confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the
deceiver and the
antichrist.
Whosoever transgresseth,
and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father
and the Son.
Anyone who runs
ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God.
Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father
and the Son.
If there come any unto you,
and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither
bid him God speed:
If
anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even
greet him.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
I have many things to write to you, but I would
prefer not to do so with paper
and ink. Instead, I hope to come
and speak with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest
prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Beloved, I pray that in every way you may
prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also prospers.
For I
rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came
and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
For I was overjoyed when the brothers came
and testified about your devotion to the truth, in which you continue to walk.
Beloved, thou doest faithfully
whatsoever thou doest to the brethren,
and to strangers;
Beloved, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, and especially since they are strangers to you.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth,
prating against us with
malicious words:
and not content
therewith, neither
doth he himself receive the brethren,
and forbiddeth them that would,
and casteth them out of the church.
So if I come, I will call attention to his
malicious slander against us.
And unsatisfied with that, he refuses to
welcome the brothers
and forbids those who want to do so, even putting them out of the church.
Demetrius hath good report of all men,
and of the truth itself:
yea,
and we also bear record;
and ye know that our record is true.
Demetrius has received a good testimony from
everyone,
and from the truth itself. We also
testify for him,
and you know that our testimony is true.
I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
I have many things to write to you, but I would
prefer not to do so with pen
and ink.
But I trust I shall shortly see thee,
and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends
salute thee.
Greet the friends by name.
Instead, I hope to see you soon
and speak with you face to face. Peace to you. The friends here send you greetings.
Greet each of our friends there by name.
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ,
and brother of James, to them that are
sanctified by God the Father,
and preserved in Jesus Christ,
and called:
Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ
and a brother of James, To those who are called, loved by God the Father,
and kept in Jesus Christ:
Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
Beloved, when I gave all
diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you,
and exhort you that ye should earnestly
contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Beloved, although I made every effort to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt it necessary to write
and urge you to
contend earnestly for the faith entrusted once for all to the saints.
For there are certain men
crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this
condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into
lasciviousness,
and denying the only Lord God,
and our Lord Jesus Christ.
For certain men have
crept in among you unnoticed—ungodly ones who were designated long ago for
condemnation. They turn the grace of our God into a
license for immorality,
and they deny our only Master
and Lord, Jesus Christ.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
And the angels who did not stay within their own
domain but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.
Even as
Sodom and Gomorrha,
and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to
fornication,
and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the
vengeance of eternal fire.
In like manner,
Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, who
indulged in sexual immorality
and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who
sustain the punishment of eternal fire.
Yet in the same way these dreamers
defile their bodies,
reject authority,
and slander glorious beings.
But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as
brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam,
prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also
prophesied about them: “Behold, the Lord is coming with myriads of His holy ones
To
execute judgment upon all,
and to
convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed,
and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
to
execute judgment on
everyone,
and to
convict all the ungodly of every ungodly act of wickedness
and every harsh word spoken against Him by ungodly sinners.”
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
These men are discontented grumblers, following after their own lusts; their mouths
spew arrogance; they
flatter others for their own advantage.
These be they who separate themselves,
sensual, having not the Spirit.
These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit.
But ye, beloved, building up
yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
But you, beloved, by building
yourselves up in your most holy faith
and praying in the Holy Spirit,
And indeed, have mercy on those who doubt;
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment
spotted by the flesh.
save others by
snatching them from the fire;
and to still others show mercy tempered with fear,
hating even the clothing
stained by the flesh.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Now to Him who is able to keep you from
stumbling and to present you
unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy—
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory
and majesty, dominion
and power, both now
and ever.
Amen.
to the only God our
Savior be glory, majesty, dominion,
and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time,
and now,
and for all
eternity.
Amen.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to
shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;
and he sent
and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John,
Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
who testifies to everything he saw. This is the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Blessed is the one who reads
aloud the words of this prophecy,
and blessed are those who hear
and obey what is written in it, because the time is near.
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from Him who is and was and is to come, and from the seven Spirits before His throne,
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,
and the first
begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us,
and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the
firstborn from the dead,
and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us
and has released us from our sins by His blood,
And hath made us kings
and priests unto God
and his Father; to him be glory
and dominion for ever
and ever.
Amen.
who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God
and Father—to Him be the glory
and power
forever and ever!
Amen.
Behold, he cometh with clouds;
and every eye shall see him,
and they also which pierced him:
and all kindreds of the earth shall
wail because of him. Even so,
Amen.
Behold, He is coming with the clouds,
and every eye will see Him—even those who pierced Him.
And all the tribes of the earth will
mourn because of Him. So shall it be!
Amen.
I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the ending, saith the Lord, which is,
and which was,
and which is to come, the
Almighty.
“I am the
Alpha and the
Omega,” says the Lord God, who is
and was
and is to come—the
Almighty.
I John, who also am your brother,
and companion in
tribulation,
and in the kingdom
and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called
Patmos, for the word of God,
and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I, John, your brother
and partner in the
tribulation and kingdom
and perseverance that are in Jesus, was on the island of
Patmos because of the word of God
and my testimony about Jesus.
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day,
and heard behind me a great voice, as of a
trumpet,
On the Lord’s day I was in the Spirit,
and I heard behind me a loud voice like a
trumpet,
Saying, I am
Alpha and Omega, the first
and the last:
and, What thou seest, write in a book,
and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus,
and unto
Smyrna,
and unto Pergamos,
and unto
Thyatira,
and unto
Sardis,
and unto Philadelphia,
and unto
Laodicea.
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands,
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot,
and girt about the paps with a golden
girdle.
and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long
robe, with a golden
sash around His chest.
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow,
and His eyes were like a
blazing fire.
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace,
and His voice was like the
roar of many waters.
And he had in his right hand seven stars:
and out of his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword:
and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
He held in His right hand seven stars,
and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun
shining at its brightest.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last,
I am he that liveth,
and was dead;
and, behold, I am alive for
evermore,
Amen;
and have the keys of
hell and of death.
the Living One. I was dead,
and behold, now I am alive
forever and ever!
And I hold the keys of Death
and of Hades.
Write the things which thou hast seen,
and the things which are,
and the things which shall be
hereafter;
Therefore write down the things you have seen, and the things that are, and the things that will happen after this.
The
mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand,
and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches:
and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
This is the
mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand
and of the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches,
and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.
I know thy works,
and thy labour,
and thy
patience,
and how thou canst not bear them which are evil:
and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles,
and are not,
and hast found them liars:
I know your deeds, your labor,
and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate those who are evil,
and you have tested
and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles.
And hast borne,
and hast
patience,
and for my name’s sake hast laboured,
and hast not
fainted.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen,
and repent,
and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly,
and will remove thy
candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.
Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen.
Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not
repent, I will come to you
and remove your lampstand from its place.
And unto the angel of the church in
Smyrna write; These things saith the first
and the last, which was dead,
and is alive;
To the angel of the church in
Smyrna write: These are the words of the First
and the Last, who died
and returned to life.
I know thy works,
and tribulation,
and poverty, (but thou art rich)
and I know the
blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
and are not, but are the
synagogue of
Satan.
I know your
affliction and your poverty—though you are rich!
And I am aware of the
slander of those who falsely claim to be Jews, but are in fact a
synagogue of
Satan.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried;
and ye shall have
tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death,
and I will give thee a crown of life.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you,
and you will suffer
tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death,
and I will give you the crown of life.
And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
To the angel of the church in
Pergamum write: These are the words of the One who holds the sharp, double-edged sword.
I know thy works,
and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan’s seat is:
and thou holdest fast my name,
and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein
Antipas was my faithful
martyr, who was slain among you, where
Satan dwelleth.
I know where you live, where the throne of
Satan sits. Yet you have held fast to My name
and have not denied your faith in Me, even in the day when My faithful witness
Antipas was killed among you, where
Satan dwells.
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of
Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols,
and to commit
fornication.
But I have a few things against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of
Balaam, who taught Balak to place a
stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols
and commit sexual immorality.
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly,
and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Therefore
repent! Otherwise I will come to you shortly
and wage war against them with the sword of My mouth.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden
manna,
and will give him a white stone,
and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give the hidden
manna. I will also give him a white stone inscribed with a new name, known only to the one who receives it.
And unto the angel of the church in
Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire,
and his feet are like fine brass;
To the angel of the church in
Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a
blazing fire
and whose feet are like polished bronze.
I know thy works,
and charity,
and service,
and faith,
and thy
patience,
and thy works;
and the last to be more than the first.
I know your deeds—your love, your faith, your service, your
perseverance—
and your latter deeds are greater than your first.
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman
Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach
and to
seduce my servants to commit
fornication,
and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
But I have this against you: You
tolerate that woman
Jezebel, who calls herself a
prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants to be sexually immoral
and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
Even though I have given her time to
repent of her immorality, she is unwilling.
Behold, I will cast her into a bed,
and them that commit
adultery with her into great
tribulation, except they
repent of their deeds.
Behold, I will cast her
onto a bed of sickness,
and those who commit
adultery with her will suffer great
tribulation unless they
repent of her deeds.
And I will kill her children with death;
and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the
reins and hearts:
and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
But unto you I say,
and unto the rest in
Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine,
and which have not known the depths of
Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
But I say to the rest of you in
Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching
and have not learned the so-called deep things of
Satan: I will place no further burden upon you.
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
And to the one who overcomes and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations.
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a
potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
He will rule them with an iron
scepter and shatter them like pottery—just as I have received authority from My Father.
And I will give him the morning star.
And I will give him the morning star.
And unto the angel of the church in
Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God,
and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest,
and art dead.
“To the angel of the church in
Sardis write: These are the words of the One who holds the seven Spirits of God
and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation for being alive, yet you are dead.
Be watchful,
and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Wake up
and strengthen what remains, which was about to die; for I have found your deeds incomplete in the sight of My God.
Remember therefore how thou hast received
and heard,
and hold fast,
and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a
thief,
and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Remember, then, what you have received
and heard. Keep it
and repent. If you do not
wake up, I will come like a
thief,
and you will not know the hour when I will come upon you.
Thou hast a few names even in
Sardis which have not
defiled their garments;
and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
But you do have a few people in
Sardis who have not soiled their garments,
and because they are worthy, they will walk with Me in white.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment;
and I will not
blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will
confess his name before my Father,
and before his angels.
Like them, he who overcomes will be dressed in white.
And I will never
blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will
confess his name before My Father
and His angels.
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the One who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door, which no one can shut. For you have only a little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.
Behold, I will make them of the
synagogue of
Satan, which say they are Jews,
and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come
and worship before thy feet,
and to know that I have loved thee.
Look at those who belong to the
synagogue of
Satan, who claim to be Jews but are liars instead. I will make them come
and bow down at your feet,
and they will know that I love you.
Him that overcometh will I make a
pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out:
and I will write upon him the name of my God,
and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God:
and I will write upon him my new name.
The one who overcomes I will make a
pillar in the temple of My God,
and he will never again leave it. Upon him I will write the name of My God,
and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God),
and My new name.
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the
Amen, the faithful
and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
To the angel of the church in
Laodicea write: These are the words of the
Amen, the faithful
and true Witness, the
Originator of God’s creation.
So then because thou art
lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot, I will
spue thee out of my mouth.
So because you are
lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to
vomit you out of My mouth!
Because thou sayest, I am rich,
and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art
wretched,
and miserable,
and poor,
and blind,
and naked:
You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy
and need nothing.’ But you do not
realize that you are
wretched,
pitiful, poor, blind,
and naked.
I counsel thee to
buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich;
and white
raiment, that thou mayest be clothed,
and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
and anoint thine eyes with
eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
I counsel you to
buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed
and your shameful nakedness not exposed,
and salve to
anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Those I love, I
rebuke and discipline. Therefore be earnest
and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door,
and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him,
and will
sup with him,
and he with me.
Behold, I stand at the door
and knock. If
anyone hears My voice
and opens the door, I will come in
and dine with him,
and he with Me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
To the one who overcomes, I will grant the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
After this I looked,
and, behold, a door was opened in heaven:
and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a
trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up
hither,
and I will
shew thee things which must be
hereafter.
After this I looked
and saw a door standing open in heaven.
And the voice I had previously heard speak to me like a
trumpet was saying, “Come up here,
and I will show you what must happen after these things.”
And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
At once I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne standing in heaven, with someone seated on it.
And he that sat was to look upon like a
jasper and a
sardine stone:
and there was a
rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an
emerald.
And round about the throne were four
and twenty seats:
and upon the seats I saw four
and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white
raiment;
and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads.
