And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the LORD commanded Moses.
So Moses spoke all this to the Israelites just as the LORD had commanded him.
And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded.
Then Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded:
If a woman also
vow a
vow unto the LORD,
and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
And if a woman in her father’s house during her youth makes a
vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a
pledge,
And her father hear her
vow,
and her bond
wherewith she hath bound her soul,
and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand,
and every bond
wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
and her father hears about her
vow or
pledge but says nothing to her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds
wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand:
and the LORD shall
forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
But if her father prohibits her on the day he hears about it, then none of the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. The LORD will
absolve her because her father has prohibited her.
And if she had at all an husband, when she
vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul;
If a woman marries while under a
vow or
rash promise by which she has bound herself,
And her husband heard it,
and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand,
and her bonds
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her on that day, then the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her
vow which she
vowed,
and that which she uttered with her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect:
and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband prohibits her when he hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds her or the
rash promise she has made,
and the LORD will
absolve her.
But every
vow of a widow,
and of her that is
divorced,
wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her.
And if she
vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;
If a woman in her husband’s house has made a
vow or put herself under an obligation with an oath,
And her husband heard it,
and held his peace at her,
and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand,
and every bond
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her
and does not
prohibit her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void;
and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them,
and the LORD will
absolve her.
Every
vow,
and every binding oath to
afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.
But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all the vows and pledges that bind her. He has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard about them.
These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
And the LORD said to Moses,
And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of
yourselves unto the war,
and let them go against the Midianites,
and avenge the LORD of
Midian.
So Moses told the people, “Arm some of your men for war, that they may go against the Midianites
and execute the LORD’s
vengeance on them.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them
and Phinehas the son of
Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments,
and the
trumpets to blow in his hand.
And Moses sent the thousand from each tribe into battle, along with
Phinehas son of
Eleazar the priest, who took with him the vessels of the sanctuary
and the
trumpets for signaling.
And they
warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses;
and they
slew all the males.
Then they
waged war against
Midian, as the LORD had commanded Moses,
and they killed every male.
And they
slew the kings of
Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi,
and Rekem,
and Zur,
and Hur,
and Reba, five kings of
Midian:
Balaam also the son of Beor they
slew with the sword.
Among the slain were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur,
and Reba—the five kings of
Midian. They also killed
Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
And the children of Israel took all the women of
Midian captives,
and their little ones,
and took the
spoil of all their cattle,
and all their flocks,
and all their goods.
The Israelites captured the Midianite women
and their children,
and they
plundered all their herds, flocks,
and goods.
And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
Then they burned all the cities where the Midianites had lived, as well as all their encampments,
And they took all the
spoil,
and all the prey, both of men
and of beasts.
and carried away all the
plunder and spoils, both people
and animals.
And they brought the
captives,
and the prey,
and the
spoil, unto Moses,
and Eleazar the priest,
and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near
Jericho.
They brought the
captives, spoils,
and plunder to Moses, to
Eleazar the priest,
and to the congregation of Israel at the camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from
Jericho.
And Moses,
and Eleazar the priest,
and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.
And Moses,
Eleazar the priest,
and all the leaders of the congregation went to meet them outside the camp.
And Moses was
wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands,
and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
But Moses was
angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands
and commanders of hundreds—who were returning from the battle.
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
“Have you
spared all the women?” he asked them.
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to commit
trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor,
and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
“Look, these women caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to turn unfaithfully against the LORD at Peor, so that the plague struck the congregation of the LORD.
Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
So now, kill all the boys, as well as every woman who has had relations with a man,
All of you who have killed a person or touched the dead are to remain outside the camp for seven days. On the third day
and the seventh day you are to
purify both
yourselves and your
captives.
And purify all your
raiment,
and all that is made of skins,
and all work of goats’ hair,
and all things made of wood.
And purify every garment
and leather good, everything made of goat’s hair,
and every article of wood.”
And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the
ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;
Then
Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle, “This is the statute of the law which the LORD has commanded Moses:
Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
Only the gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, and lead—
Every thing that may
abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire,
and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be
purified with the water of separation:
and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
everything that can
withstand the fire—must be put through the fire,
and it will be clean. But it must still be
purified with the water of
purification.
And everything that cannot
withstand the fire must pass through the water.
And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
On the seventh day you are to wash your clothes, and you will be clean. After that you may enter the camp.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
The LORD said to Moses,
Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man
and of beast, thou,
and Eleazar the priest,
and the chief fathers of the congregation:
“You
and Eleazar the priest
and the family heads of the congregation are to take a count of what was captured, both of man
and beast.
And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:
Then divide the
captives between the troops who went out to battle
and the rest of the congregation.
And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons,
and of the
beeves,
and of the
asses,
and of the sheep:
Set aside a tribute for the LORD from what belongs to the soldiers who went into battle: one out of every five hundred, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, or sheep.
Take it of their half,
and give it unto
Eleazar the priest, for an
heave offering of the LORD.
Take it from their half
and give it to
Eleazar the priest as an offering to the LORD.
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the
beeves, of the
asses,
and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts,
and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, sheep, or other animals,
and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.”
And Moses
and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.
So Moses
and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD had commanded Moses,
