So your
prostitution is the opposite of that of other women: No one
solicited your favors, and you paid a fee instead of receiving one; so you are the very opposite!
Thou
art thy mother’s daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou
art the sister of thy sisters, which
lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
You are the daughter of your mother, who
despised her husband and children. You are the sister of your sisters, who
despised their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.
That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.
So you will bear your disgrace and be
ashamed of all you did to comfort them.
Thou
art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast
defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and
art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a
mocking to all countries.
you are guilty of the blood you have shed, and you are
defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close and have come to the end of your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a
mockery to all the lands.
Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall
mock thee, which
art infamous and much
vexed.
Those near and far will
mock you, O infamous city, full of
turmoil.
Son of man, say unto her, Thou
art the land that is not
cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of
indignation.
“Son of man, say to her, ‘In the day of
indignation, you are a land that has not been
cleansed, upon which no rain has fallen.’
I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a
whoring after the heathen, and because thou
art polluted with their idols.
And they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How
art thou destroyed, that
wast inhabited of
seafaring men, the
renowned city, which
wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that
haunt it!
Then they will
lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O city of
renown inhabited by
seafaring men— she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples!
And say unto Tyrus, O thou that
art situate at the entry of the sea, which
art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
Tell Tyre, who dwells at the
gateway to the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coasts, that this is what the Lord GOD says: You have said, O Tyre, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
“Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre that this is what the Lord GOD says: Your heart is proud, and you have said, ‘I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods in the heart of the sea.’ Yet you are a man and not a god, though you have regarded your heart as that of a god.
Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

Thou
art the
anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou
wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
You were
anointed as a
guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the
fiery stones.
Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
“Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his multitude: ‘Who can be compared to your greatness?
To whom
art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of
Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of
Eden unto the
nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the
uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
Who then is like you in glory and greatness among the trees of
Eden? You also will be brought down to the depths of the earth to be with the trees of
Eden. You will lie among the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.’”
Son of man, take up a
lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou
art like a young lion of the nations, and thou
art as a
whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.
“Son of man, take up a
lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him: ‘You are like a lion among the nations; you are like a
monster in the seas. You
thrash about in your rivers,
churning up the waters with your feet and
muddying the streams.’
And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
Indeed, you are to them like a singer of love songs with a beautiful voice, who
skillfully plays an instrument. They hear your words but do not put them into practice.
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of
Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee,
Art thou come to take a
spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great
spoil?
Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of
Tarshish with all its villages will ask, ‘Have you come to capture the
plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to carry away
loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize great
spoil?’
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which
prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you the one of whom I have spoken in former days through My servants, the prophets of Israel, who in those times
prophesied for years that I would bring you against them?
And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall
shew thee; for to the intent that I might
shew them unto thee
art thou brought
hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
“Son of man,” he said to me, “look with your eyes, hear with your ears, and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Report to the house of Israel everything you see.”

Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of

Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with some of the
articles from the house of God. He carried these off to the land of
Shinar, to the house of his god, where he put them in the treasury of his god.
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
The king
responded to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to tell me what I saw in the dream, as well as its interpretation?”
Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.
And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou
art this head of gold.
Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
This dream I king
Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof,
forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou
art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
This is the dream that I, King
Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me the interpretation, because none of the wise men of my kingdom can
interpret it for me. But you are able, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

TEKEL; Thou
art weighed in the balances, and
art found wanting.
TEKEL means that you have been
weighed on the scales and found deficient.
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou
art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:
And I will
sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou
art my people; and they shall say, Thou
art my God.
And I will
sow her as My own in the land, and I will have
compassion on ‘No
Compassion.’ I will say to those called ‘Not My People,’ ‘You are My people,’ and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall
spoil the
treasure of all pleasant vessels.
Although he
flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come— a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will run dry. The wind will
plunder his treasury of every precious
article.
Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou
art greatly
despised.
“Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you will be deeply
despised.
If
thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how
art thou cut off!) would they not have
stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
“If
thieves came to you, if robbers by night— oh, how you will be ruined— would they not
steal only what they wanted? If
grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings?
Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?
“Tell us now,” they demanded, “who is to
blame for this
calamity that is upon us? What is your occupation, and where have you come from? What is your country, and who are your people?”
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto
Tarshish: for I knew that thou
art a
gracious God, and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to
flee toward
Tarshish. I knew that You are a
gracious and
compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending
disaster.
O thou that
art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD
straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of the LORD impatient? Are these the things He does?” Do not My words bring good to him who walks uprightly?
And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the
graven image and the
molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou
art vile.
The LORD has issued a command concerning you, O
Nineveh: “There will be no descendants to carry on your name. I will cut off the carved image and cast
idol from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.”
Art thou better than
populous No, that was
situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose
rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?
Are you better than
Thebes, stationed by the Nile with water around her, whose
rampart was the sea, whose wall was the water?
Art thou not from
everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
Are You not from
everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O LORD, You have appointed them to
execute judgment; O Rock, You have established them for correction.
Thou
art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal
treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot
tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You
tolerate the faithless? Why are You silent while the wicked
swallow up those more righteous than themselves?
Thou
art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy
foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful
spewing shall be on thy glory.
You will be filled with shame instead of glory. You too must drink and
expose your
uncircumcision! The cup in the LORD’s right hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will cover your glory.
Who
art thou, O great mountain? before
Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the

capstone accompanied by shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”
And thou
Bethlehem, in the land of Juda,
art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will be the
shepherd of My people Israel.’”
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou
art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
