slay it: she is the mother thereof.

These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the
genealogy of them that went up with me from
Babylon, in the reign of
Artaxerxes the king.
These are the family heads and
genealogical records of those who returned with me from

Artaxerxes king of

doomed to destruction, blessed is he who repays you as you have done to us.
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
This is the burden against Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz received:
And
Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’
excellency, shall be as when God overthrew
Sodom and
Gomorrah.
And
Babylon, the
jewel of the kingdoms, the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans, will be overthrown by God like
Sodom and
Gomorrah.
And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their
desolate houses, and
dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
Hyenas will
howl in her fortresses and jackals in her
luxurious palaces.
Babylon’s time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged.
That thou shalt take up this
proverb against the king of
Babylon, and say, How hath the
oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
you will sing this song of contempt against the king of
Babylon: How the
oppressor has ceased, and how his
fury has ended!
For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from
Babylon the name, and
remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.
“I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will cut off from
Babylon her name and her
remnant, her offspring and her
posterity,” declares the LORD.
And, behold, here cometh a
chariot of men, with a couple of
horsemen. And he answered and said,
Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the
graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

horsemen in pairs.” And one answered, saying: “Fallen, fallen is
Babylon! All the images of her gods lie
shattered on the ground!”

Hezekiah and asked, “Where did those men come from, and what did they say to you?” “They came to me from a distant land,”
Hezekiah replied, “from

Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Thus saith the LORD, your
redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to
Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
Thus says the LORD your
Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to
Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they
rejoice.
Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
“Go down and sit in the dust, O Virgin Daughter of
Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, O Daughter of
Chaldea! For you will no longer be called tender or delicate.
All ye,
assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on
Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
Come together, all of you, and
listen: Which of the idols has
foretold these things? The LORD’s chosen ally will carry out His desire against
Babylon, and His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
Go ye forth of
Babylon,
flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
Leave
Babylon!
Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare it with a
shout of joy,
proclaim it, let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the
womb? saith thy God.
Shall I bring a
baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?” says the LORD. “Or will I who deliver close the
womb?” says your God.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of
Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into
Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of
Babylon, and he will carry them away to
Babylon and put them to the sword.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall
spoil them, and take them, and carry them to
Babylon.
I will give away all the wealth of this city—all its products and valuables, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah—to their enemies. They will
plunder them, seize them, and carry them off to
Babylon.
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to
Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast
prophesied lies.
And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house, will go into captivity. You will go to
Babylon, and there you will die and be buried—you and all your friends to whom you have
prophesied these lies.’”
Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his
wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
“Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, since
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon is
waging war against us. Perhaps the LORD will perform for us something like all His past wonders, so that
Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”
Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands,
wherewith ye fight against the king of
Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which
besiege you without the walls, and I will
assemble them into the midst of this city.
this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will turn against you the weapons of war in your hands, with which you are fighting the king of
Babylon and the Chaldeans who
besiege you outside the wall, and I will
assemble their forces in the center of this city.
And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver
Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the
pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall
smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not
spare them, neither have
pity, nor have mercy.
‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand over
Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who
survive the plague and sword and famine, to
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not
spare them or show
pity or
compassion.’
For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
For I have set My face against this city to bring
disaster and not good, declares the LORD. It will be delivered into the hand of the king of
Babylon, who will destroy it with fire.’
And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
In fact, I will hand you over to those you
dread, who want to take your life—to
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon and to the Chaldeans.
The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon had carried away
captive Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to
Babylon.
After
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon had carried away Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, as well as the officials of Judah and the
craftsmen and metalsmiths from Jerusalem, and had brought them to
Babylon, the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the LORD.
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon;
This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon.
Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of
Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an
astonishment, and an
hissing, and perpetual desolations.
behold, I will
summon all the families of the north, declares the LORD, and I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon, whom I will bring against this land, against its residents, and against all the surrounding nations. So I will
devote them to destruction and make them an object of
horror and contempt, an
everlasting desolation.
And this whole land shall be a
desolation, and an
astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of
Babylon seventy years.
And this whole land will become a
desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of
Babylon for seventy years.
And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will
punish the king of
Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
But when seventy years are complete, I will
punish the king of
Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their guilt, declares the LORD, and I will make it an
everlasting desolation.
And now have I given all these lands into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar the king of
Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.
So now I have placed all these lands under the authority of My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon. I have even made the beasts of the field subject to him.
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same
Nebuchadnezzar the king of
Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of
Babylon, that nation will I
punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the
pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon and does not place its neck under his yoke, I will
punish that nation by sword and famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I have destroyed it by his hand.
Therefore
hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of
Babylon:
But as for you, do not
listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums, or your sorcerers who declare, ‘You will not serve the king of
Babylon.’
But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
But the nation that will put its neck under the yoke of the king of
Babylon and serve him, I will leave in its own land, to
cultivate it and reside in it, declares the LORD.”
I spake also to
Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of
Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.
And to
Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke the same message: “Put your necks under the yoke of the king of
Babylon; serve him and his people, and live!
Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the
pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of
Babylon?
Why should you and your people die by sword and famine and plague, as the LORD has decreed against any nation that does not serve the king of Babylon?
Therefore
hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of
Babylon: for they
prophesy a lie unto you.
Do not
listen to the words of the prophets who say, ‘You must not serve the king of
Babylon,’ for they are
prophesying to you a lie.
Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD;
Hearken not to the words of your prophets that
prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD’S house shall now shortly be brought again from
Babylon: for they
prophesy a lie unto you.
Then I said to the priests and to all this people, “This is what the LORD says: Do not
listen to the words of your prophets who
prophesy to you, saying, ‘Look, very soon now the articles from the house of the LORD will be brought back from
Babylon.’ They are
prophesying to you a lie.
Hearken not unto them; serve the king of
Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?
Do not
listen to them. Serve the king of
Babylon and live! Why should this city become a ruin?
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to
Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be taken to
Babylon.
Which
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon took not, when he carried away
captive Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to
Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
which
Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon did not take when he carried Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to
Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.
They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
‘They will be carried to Babylon and will remain there until the day I attend to them again,’ declares the LORD. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’”
