And I
persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons
both men and women.
I
persecuted this Way even to the death,
detaining both men and women and throwing them into prison,
For the
Sadducees say that there is neither a resurrection, nor angels, nor spirits, but the
Pharisees acknowledge them all.
And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
and I have the same hope in God that they themselves
cherish, that there will be a resurrection of
both the righteous and the wicked.
And
Festus said, King
Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me,
both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
Then
Festus said, “King
Agrippa and all who are present with us, you see this man. The whole Jewish community has petitioned me about him,
both here and in Jerusalem, crying out that he ought not to live any longer.
But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
‘But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you to
appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen from Me and what I will show you.
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
But I have had God’s help to this day, and I stand here to
testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen:
And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
“Short time or long,” Paul replied, “I wish to God that not only you but all who hear me this day may become what I am, except for these chains.”
And because the
haven was not
commodious to winter in, the more part
advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an
haven of
Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his
lodging; to whom he
expounded and
testified the kingdom of God,
persuading them concerning Jesus,
both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
So they set a day to meet with Paul, and many people came to the place he was staying. He
expounded to them from morning to evening,
testifying about the kingdom of God and
persuading them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets.
That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
I am
debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians;
both to the wise, and to the unwise.
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
For this reason Christ died and returned to life, that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are
sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
both theirs and ours:
To the church of God in Corinth, to those
sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will
expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
Even unto this present hour we
both hunger, and
thirst, and are naked, and are
buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
To this very hour we are
hungry and
thirsty, we are poorly clothed, we are
brutally treated, we are homeless.
Meats for the
belly, and the
belly for meats: but God shall destroy
both it and them. Now the body is not for
fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath
anointed us, is God;
Now it is God who establishes
both us and you in Christ. He
anointed us,
Now he that ministereth seed to the
sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
Now He who supplies seed to the
sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.
That in the
dispensation of the
fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ,
both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring all things in heaven and on earth together in Christ.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has
torn down the dividing wall of hostility
And that he might
reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the
enmity thereby:
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
And, ye masters, do the same things unto them,
forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
And masters, do the same for your slaves. Give up your use of threats, because you know that He who is
both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no
favoritism with Him.
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as
both in my bonds, and in the defence and
confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart. For in my chains and in my
defense and
confirmation of the gospel, you are all partners in grace with me.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good purpose.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
I know
both how to be
abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am
instructed both to be full and to be
hungry,
both to abound and to suffer need.
I know how to live
humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being
hungry, to having
plenty and having need.
Who
both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have
persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out as well. They are displeasing to God and hostile to all men,
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good,
both among
yourselves, and to all men.
Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
To this end we labor and
strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the
Savior of
everyone, and especially of those who believe.
Take
heed unto
thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt
both save
thyself, and them that hear thee.
Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching.
Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save
both yourself and those who hear you.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine
both to
exhort and to
convince the gainsayers.
He must hold firmly to the faithful word as it was taught, so that he can
encourage others by sound teaching and
refute those who
contradict it.
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are
defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is
defiled.
To the pure, all things are pure; but to the
defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Indeed,
both their minds and their consciences are
defiled.
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a beloved brother. He is especially beloved to me, but even more so to you, both in person and in the Lord.
God also bearing them witness,
both with signs and wonders, and with
divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
and was
affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
For
both he that sanctifieth and they who are
sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not
ashamed to call them brethren,
For
both the One who sanctifies and those who are
sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not
ashamed to call them brothers.
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Every high priest is appointed from among men to represent them in matters relating to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both good and evil.
But solid food is for the
mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and
stedfast, and which entereth into that within the
veil;
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the
curtain,
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
And since every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, it was necessary for this One also to have something to offer.
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
It is an illustration for the present time, because the gifts and sacrifices being offered were unable to
cleanse the conscience of the worshiper.
For when Moses had spoken every
precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of
calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and
sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
For when Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the law to all the people, he took the blood of
calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and
sprinkled the
scroll and all the people,
Moreover he
sprinkled with blood
both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
In the same way, he
sprinkled with blood the tabernacle and all the vessels used in worship.
Partly, whilst ye were made a
gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to
ridicule and persecution; at other times you were partners with those who were so treated.
By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed
both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped,
leaning upon the top of his staff.
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and worshiped as he
leaned on the top of his staff.
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive
berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain
both yield salt water and fresh.
My brothers, can a fig tree grow olives, or a
grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in
both which I
stir up your pure minds by way of
remembrance:
Beloved, this is now my second letter to you.
Both of them are reminders to
stir you to
wholesome thinking
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory
both now and for ever.
Amen.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory
both now and to the day of
eternity.
Amen.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath
both the Father and the Son.
Anyone who runs
ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God.
Whoever remains in His teaching has
both the Father and the Son.
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and ever.
Amen.
to the only God our
Savior be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time, and now, and for all
eternity.
Amen.
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the
backside, sealed with seven seals.
Then I saw a
scroll in the right hand of the One seated on the throne. It had writing on
both sides and was sealed with seven seals.
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Then the fifth angel sounded his
trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the
Abyss.
And he opened the
bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were
darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
The star opened the pit of the
Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were
darkened by the smoke from the pit.
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the
bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is
Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name
Apollyon.
They were ruled by a king, the angel of the
Abyss. His name in Hebrew is
Abaddon, and in Greek it is
Apollyon.
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
When the two witnesses have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the
Abyss will
wage war with them, and will overpower and kill them.
And the nations were
angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
The nations were
enraged, and Your wrath has come. The time has come to judge the dead and to reward Your servants the prophets, as well as the saints and those who fear Your name,
both small and great— and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
The second beast was permitted to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship it to be killed.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their
forehead,
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the
bottomless pit, and go into
perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the
Abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world will
marvel when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet will be.
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you who serve Him, and those who fear Him, small and great alike!”
That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
so that you may eat the flesh of kings and commanders and mighty men, of horses and riders, of
everyone slave and free, small and great.”
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These
both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone.
But the beast was captured along with the false prophet, who on its behalf had performed signs
deceiving those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
Both the beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur.
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the
Abyss, holding in his hand a great chain.
And cast him into the
bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should
deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
And he threw him into the
Abyss, shut it, and sealed it over him, so that he could not
deceive the nations until the thousand years were complete. After that, he must be released for a brief period of time.
And they took all the holy vessels of the Lord, both great and small, with the vessels of the ark of God, and the king’s treasures, and carried them away into Babylon.
And thou shalt find in the chronicles what is written concerning these things, and shalt understand that that city was
rebellious, troubling
both kings and cities:
And when they are in their cups, they
forget their love
both to friends and brethren, and a little after draw out swords:
Then
Darius the king stood up, and
kissed him, and wrote letters for him unto all the treasurers and lieutenants and captains and governors, that they should safely convey on their way
both him, and all those that go up with him to build Jerusalem.
And there were gathered unto them out of the other nations of the land, and they erected the altar upon his own place, because all the nations of the land were at
enmity with them, and
oppressed them; and they offered sacrifices according to the time, and burnt offerings to the Lord
both morning and evening.
And that the holy vessels of the house of the Lord, both of gold and silver, that Nabuchodonosor took out of the house at Jerusalem, and brought to Babylon, should be restored to the house at Jerusalem, and be set in the place where they were before.
As many therefore as have a mind
thereunto, let them depart with thee, as it hath seemed good
both to me and my seven friends the counsellors;
And there I
vowed a fast unto the young men before our Lord, to desire of him a prosperous journey
both for us and them that were with us, for our children, and for the cattle:
And I said unto them,
Both ye are holy unto the Lord, and the vessels are holy, and the gold and the silver is a
vow unto the Lord, the Lord of our fathers.
For both they and their sons have married with their daughters, and the holy seed is mixed with the strange people of the land; and from the beginning of this matter the rulers and the great men have been partakers of this iniquity.
And he read in the broad court before the holy
porch from morning unto
midday, before
both men and women; and the multitude gave
heed unto the law.
I answered and said,
Verily it is a
foolish thought that they
both have devised, for the ground is given unto the wood, and the sea also hath his place to bear his floods.
And
didst separate the one from the other: for the seventh part, namely, where the water was gathered together, might not hold them
both.
And one only path between them both, even between the fire and the water, so small that there could but one man go there at once.
But that which keepeth and is kept shall
both be preserved: and when the time cometh, the
womb preserved delivereth up the things that grew in it.
For if thou shalt acknowledge the determination of God to be just, thou shalt
both receive thy son in time, and shalt be
commended among women.
So the prayers of them both were heard before the majesty of the great God.
And Raphael was sent to
heal them
both, that is, to scale away the whiteness of
Tobit’s eyes, and to give Sara the daughter of Raguel for a wife to Tobias the son of
Tobit; and to bind
Asmodeus the evil spirit; because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance. The
selfsame time came
Tobit home, and entered into his house, and Sara the daughter of Raguel came down from her upper chamber.
So they were well pleased. Then said he to Tobias, Prepare
thyself for the journey, and God send you a good journey. And when his son had prepared all things for the journey, his father said, Go thou with this man, and God, which dwelleth in heaven,
prosper your journey, and the angel of God keep you company. So they went forth
both, and the young man’s dog with them.
So the young man did as the angel commanded him; and when they had
roasted the fish, they did eat it: then they
both went on their way, till they drew near to Ecbatane.
And the devil shall smell it, and
flee away, and never come again any more: but when thou shalt come to her, rise up
both of you, and pray to God which is
merciful, who will have
pity on you, and save you: fear not, for she is appointed unto thee from the beginning; and thou shalt preserve her, and she shall go with thee. Moreover I suppose that she shall bear thee children. Now when Tobias had heard these things, he loved her, and his heart was
effectually joined to her.
And they said, He is both alive, and in good health: and Tobias said, He is my father.
And after that they were
both shut in together, Tobias rose out of the bed, and said, Sister, arise, and let us pray that God would have
pity on us.
So they
slept both that night. And Raguel arose, and went and made a grave,
So the
maid opened the door, and went in, and found them
both asleep,
And early in the morning they went forth
both together, and came to the
wedding: and Tobias blessed his wife.
Then
Anna ran forth, and fell upon the neck of her son, and said unto him, Seeing I have seen thee, my son, from henceforth I am content to die. And they
wept both.
