Because there is wrath,
beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great
ransom cannot deliver thee.
Be
careful that no one lures you with riches; do not let a large
bribe lead you
astray.
Take
heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than
affliction.
Be
careful not to turn to iniquity, for this you have preferred to
affliction.
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
Behold, these are the ungodly, who
prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Behold, these are the wicked— always carefree as they increase their wealth.
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.
I am
forsaken among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom You remember no more, who are cut off from Your
care.
For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His
care.
Today, if you hear His voice,
I looked on my right hand, and
beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man
cared for my soul.
Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us
solace ourselves with loves.
Come, let us take our fill of love till morning. Let us delight in loving caresses!
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the
fool rageth, and is
confident.
A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a
fool is
careless and
reckless.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
He who keeps a commandment preserves his soul, but he who is careless in his ways will die.
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider
diligently what is before thee:
When you sit down to
dine with a ruler, consider
carefully what is set before you,
For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a
fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
As a dream comes through many
cares, so the speech of a
fool comes with many words.
Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye
careless women: for the
vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
In a little more than a year you will
tremble, O secure ones. For the
grape harvest will fail and the fruit harvest will not arrive.
Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye
careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and
gird sackcloth upon your loins.
Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest
carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
So now hear this, O lover of
luxury who sits securely, who says to herself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’
Wherefore do ye
spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Why
spend money on that which is not bread, and your labor on that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of foods.
For pass over the isles of
Chittim, and see; and send unto
Kedar, and consider
diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
Cross over to the coasts of
Cyprus and take a look; send to
Kedar and consider
carefully; see if there has ever been anything like this:
They have
healed also the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
For they have
healed the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be
careful in the year of
drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
He is like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It does not
worry in a year of
drought, nor does it cease to produce fruit.
And it shall come to pass, if ye
diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but
hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, and keep the Sabbath day holy, and do no work on it,
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will
heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is
Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
But I will restore your health and
heal your wounds, declares the LORD, because they call you an outcast,
Zion, for whom no one
cares.”
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon,
forbear: behold, all the land is before thee:
whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
But now, behold, I am freeing you
today from the chains that were on your wrists. If it pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take
care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
Rise up, advance against a nation at ease, one that dwells securely,” declares the LORD. “They have no gates or bars; they live alone.
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.
“Son of man,” He added, “
listen carefully to all the words I speak to you, and take them to heart.
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with
care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with
astonishment:
Then He told me, “Son of man, I am going to cut off the supply of food in Jerusalem. They will anxiously eat bread rationed by weight, and in
despair they will drink water by measure.
Son of man, eat thy bread with
quaking, and drink thy water with
trembling and with
carefulness;
And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with
carefulness, and drink their water with
astonishment, that her land may be
desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.
Then tell the people of the land that this is what the Lord GOD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: ‘They will eat their bread with
anxiety and drink their water in
dread, for their land will be
stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who dwell in it.
None eye
pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have
compassion upon thee; but thou
wast cast out in the open field, to the
lothing of thy person, in the day that thou
wast born.
No one
cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of
compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were
despised on the day of your birth.
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they
polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them, to
accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or
carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they
profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the wilderness.
And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they
bruised the teats of their
virginity.
and they played in Egypt,
prostituting themselves from their youth. Their breasts were
fondled there, and their virgin bosoms
caressed.
Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they
bruised the breasts of her
virginity, and poured their
whoredom upon her.
So you revisited the
indecency of your youth, when the Egyptians
caressed your
bosom and pressed your young breasts.
And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought
Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
accompanied by the sound of a
carefree crowd. Drunkards were brought in from the desert along with men from the
rabble, who put bracelets on your wrists and beautiful crowns on your head.
In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.
And I will send a fire on
Magog, and among them that dwell
carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send fire on
Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
The LORD said to me: “Son of man, pay attention; look
carefully with your eyes and
listen closely with your ears to everything I tell you concerning all the statutes and laws of the house of the LORD. Take
careful note of the entrance to the temple, along with all the exits of the sanctuary.
Neither shall they
shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only
poll their heads.
They must not
shave their heads or let their hair grow long, but must
carefully trim their hair.
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O
Nebuchadnezzar, we are not
careful to answer thee in this matter.
And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood
trembling.
He said to me, “Daniel, you are a man who is highly precious. Consider
carefully the words that I am about to say to you. Stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had said this to me, I stood up
trembling.
Then said the LORD, Thou hast had
pity on the
gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
But the LORD said, “You
cared about the plant, which you neither tended nor made grow. It
sprang up in a night and perished in a night.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not
care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.
For the dwellers of Maroth pined for good, but
calamity came down from the LORD, even to the gate of Jerusalem.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
The LORD is good, a
stronghold in the day of distress; He
cares for those who trust in Him.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This
carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and
twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD’S temple was laid, consider it.
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither
care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
And he sent them to
Bethlehem, and said, Go and search
diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
And sending them to
Bethlehem, he said: “Go and search
carefully for the Child, and when you find Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship Him.”
Take
heed that ye do not your
alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the
care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches,
choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the
worries of this life and the
deceitfulness of wealth
choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the
Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither
carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
They sent their disciples to Him along with the
Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are
honest and that You teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You seek favor from no one, because You pay no attention to external appearance.
And the
cares of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,
choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
but the
worries of this life, the
deceitfulness of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and
choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship,
asleep on a
pillow: and they
awake him, and say unto him, Master,
carest thou not that we perish?
But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the
cushion. So they
woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You
care that we are perishing?”
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
She had borne much
agony under the
care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no
avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are
honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”
It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent
Theophilus,
Therefore, having
carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent
Theophilus,
For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You to guard You carefully;
And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are
choked with
cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
The seeds that fell among the thorns are those who hear, but as they go on their way, they are
choked by the
worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and their fruit does not
mature.
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
He went to him and
bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took
care of him.
And on the
morrow when he departed, he took out two
pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take
care of him; and
whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
The next day he took out two
denarii and gave them to the
innkeeper. ‘Take
care of him,’ he said, ‘and on my return I will repay you for any additional expense.’
But
Martha was
cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord,
dost thou not
care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?
bid her therefore that she help me.
But
Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not
care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”
And Jesus answered and said unto her,
Martha,
Martha, thou art
careful and troubled about many things:
Take
heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
Be careful, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece,
doth not light a
candle, and
sweep the house, and seek
diligently till she find it?
Or what woman who has ten silver coins and loses one of them does not light a lamp,
sweep her house, and search
carefully until she finds it?
The man runs away because he is a
hired servant and is unconcerned for the sheep.
This he said, not that he
cared for the poor; but because he was a
thief, and had the
bag, and bare what was put therein.
Judas did not say this because he
cared about the poor, but because he was a
thief. As keeper of the money
bag, he used to take from what was put into it.
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and
hearken to my words:
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, lifted up his voice, and addressed the crowd: “Men of
Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and
listen carefully to my words.
And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take
heed to
yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
“Men of Israel,” he said, “consider carefully what you are about to do to these men.
Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the
synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And
Gallio cared for none of those things.
At this, the crowd seized Sosthenes the
synagogue leader and beat him in front of the judgment seat. But none of this was of
concern to
Gallio.
Now therefore ye with the council
signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more
carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
And the next day we touched at
Sidon. And Julius
courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
The next day we landed at
Sidon, and Julius treated Paul with consideration, allowing him to visit his friends and receive their
care.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things
honest in the sight of all men.
Do not repay
anyone evil for evil.
Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of
everybody.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man take
heed how he buildeth
thereupon.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an
expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be
careful how he builds.
But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment:
yea, I judge not mine own self.
I care very little, however, if I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let it
concern you—but if you can gain your freedom, take the opportunity.
But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
I want you to be free from
concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the work of the Lord, how he can please the Lord.
But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife,
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
But take
heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
Be
careful, however, that your freedom does not become a
stumbling block to the weak.
For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not
muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.
Doth God take
care for oxen?
For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not
muzzle an ox while it is
treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take
heed lest he fall.
So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
That there should be no
schism in the body; but that the members should have the same
care one for another.
so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual
concern for one another.
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should
weigh carefully what is said.
When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be
yea yea, and
nay nay?
When I
planned this, did I do it
carelessly? Or do I make my plans by human standards, so as to say “
Yes,
yes” when I really mean “No, no”?
For behold this
selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what
carefulness it wrought in you,
yea, what clearing of
yourselves,
yea, what
indignation,
yea, what fear,
yea, what
vehement desire,
yea, what zeal,
yea, what
revenge! In all things ye have approved
yourselves to be clear in this matter.
Consider what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear
yourselves, what
indignation, what
alarm, what longing, what zeal, what
vindication! In every way you have proved
yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did wrong or the one who was
harmed, but rather that your earnestness on our behalf would be made clear to you in the sight of God.
But
thanks be to God, which put the same earnest
care into the heart of
Titus for you.
But
thanks be to God, who put into the heart of
Titus the same devotion I have for you.
Providing for
honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
For we are taking great care to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.
Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
Apart from these external trials, I face daily the pressure of my
concern for all the churches.
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
