wept before him, saying, Why came we

nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall
smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of
Sheth.
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come
forth from Jacob, and a
scepter will arise from Israel. He will
crush the skulls of Moab and strike down all the sons of
Sheth.

But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the
fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
But we will arm ourselves and be ready to go
ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them into their place. Meanwhile, our little ones will remain in the
fortified cities for protection from the inhabitants of the land.
And Beth-nimrah, and Beth-
haran,

And your border shall turn from the south to the
ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going
forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon:
cross south of the
Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and go south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it will go on to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon,
From mount

appoint for the
manslayer, that he may
flee thither: and to them ye shall add
forty and two cities.
Six of the cities you give the Levites are to be appointed as cities of refuge, to which a
manslayer may
flee. In addition to these, give the Levites
forty-two other cities.
So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.
The total number of cities you give the Levites will be forty-eight, with their corresponding pasturelands.
And it came to pass in the
fortieth year, in the
eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the LORD had commanded him concerning them.
And ye
murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD
hated us, he hath brought us
forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the
Amorites, to destroy us.
You grumbled in your tents and said, “Because the LORD hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the
Amorites to be
annihilated.
For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Indeed, the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. The LORD your God has been with you these forty years, and you have lacked nothing.
And the
Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came
forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their
stead.)
And the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as
Gaza, were destroyed by the Caphtorites, who came out of Caphtor and settled in their place.)
All these cities were
fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
All these cities were fortified with high walls and gates and bars, and there were many more unwalled villages.
But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
Yet the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of His inheritance, as you are
today.
These are the
testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came
forth out of Egypt,
These are the
testimonies, statutes, and ordinances that Moses proclaimed to them after they had come out of Egypt,
On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the
Amorites, who dwelt at
Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel
smote, after they were come
forth out of Egypt:
while they were in the valley across the Jordan facing Beth-peor in the land of Sihon king of the
Amorites, who lived in
Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.
Then
beware lest thou
forget the LORD, which brought thee
forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage.
be careful not to
forget the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Remember that these forty years the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness, so that He might humble you and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commandments.
Thy
raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these
forty years.
Your clothing did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou
forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee
forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage;
then your heart will become proud, and you will
forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were
fiery serpents, and scorpions, and
drought, where there was no water; who brought thee
forth water out of the rock of flint;
He led you through the vast and
terrifying wilderness with its
venomous snakes and scorpions, a
thirsty and waterless land. He brought you water from the rock of flint.
Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than
thyself, cities great and
fenced up to heaven,
Hear, O Israel:
Today you are about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities
fortified to the heavens.
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD made with you, I stayed on the mountain
forty days and
forty nights. I
ate no bread and
drank no water.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
And at the end of forty days and forty nights, the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.
And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought
forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a
molten image.
And the LORD said to me, “Get up and go down from here at once, for your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. How quickly they have turned aside from the way that I commanded them! They have made for themselves a
molten image.”
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first,
forty days and
forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for
forty days and
forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
So I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, because the LORD had said He would destroy you.
I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
And I prayed to the LORD and said, “O Lord GOD, do not destroy Your people, Your inheritance, whom You redeemed through Your greatness and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time,
forty days and
forty nights; and the LORD
hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
I stayed on the mountain
forty days and
forty nights, like the first time, and that time the LORD again
listened to me and agreed not to destroy you.
Thou shalt truly
tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth
forth year by year.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
At the end of three years thou shalt bring
forth all the
tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
Observe the month of
Abib, and keep the
passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of
Abib the LORD thy God brought thee
forth out of Egypt by night.
Observe the month of
Abib and
celebrate the
Passover to the LORD your God, because in the month of
Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
Thou shalt eat no
leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat
unleavened bread
therewith, even the bread of
affliction; for thou camest
forth out of the land of Egypt in
haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest
forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.
You must not eat
leavened bread with it; for seven days you are to eat with it
unleavened bread, the bread of
affliction, because you left the land of Egypt in
haste—so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.
But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the
passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest
forth out of Egypt.
You must only offer the
Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same time you departed from Egypt.
