Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give
thanks, but also all the churches of the
Gentiles.
who have risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the
Gentiles are
grateful to them.
It is reported commonly that there is
fornication among you, and such
fornication as is not so much as named among the
Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is
intolerable even among pagans: A man has his father’s wife.
But I say, that the things which the
Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have
fellowship with devils.
No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons.
Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Do not become a
stumbling block, whether to Jews or Greeks or the church of God—
Ye know that ye were
Gentiles, carried away unto these
dumb idols, even as ye were led.
You know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led
astray to
mute idols.
For by one Spirit are we all
baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or
Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For in one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.
In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
In my frequent journeys, I have been in danger from rivers and from
bandits, in danger from my countrymen and from the
Gentiles, in danger in the city and in the country, in danger on the sea and among false brothers,
To
reveal his Son in me, that I might
preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
to
reveal His Son in me so that I might
preach Him among the
Gentiles, I did not
rush to
consult with flesh and blood,
And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I
preach among the
Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
I went in
response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I
preach among the
Gentiles. But I spoke privately to those recognized as leaders, for fear that I was running or had already run in vain.
And when James,
Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and
Barnabas the right hands of
fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the
circumcision.
And recognizing the grace that I had been given, James,
Cephas, and John—those reputed to be pillars—gave me and
Barnabas the right hand of
fellowship, so that we should go to the
Gentiles, and they to the
circumcised.
For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the
Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the
circumcision.
For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the
Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself, for fear of those in the
circumcision group.
But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a
Jew, livest after the manner of
Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the
Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
When I saw that they were not walking in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to
Cephas in front of them all, “If you, who are a
Jew, live like a
Gentile and not like a
Jew, how can you
compel the
Gentiles to live like Jews?”
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
We who are Jews by birth and not
Gentile “sinners”
And the scripture,
foreseeing that God would
justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
The Scripture foresaw that God would
justify the
Gentiles by faith, and
foretold the gospel to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past
Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
Uncircumcision by that which is called the
Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Therefore remember that formerly you who are
Gentiles in the flesh and called
uncircumcised by the so-called
circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)—
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles...
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
This
mystery is that through the gospel the
Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.
Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should
preach among the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Though I am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given me: to
preach to the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
This I say therefore, and
testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other
Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
So I tell you this, and
insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the
Gentiles do, in the
futility of their thinking.
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the
Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
To them God has chosen to make known among the
Gentiles the glorious riches of this
mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Forbidding us to speak to the
Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins
alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the
uttermost.
hindering us from telling the
Gentiles how they may be saved. As a result, they continue to
heap up their sins to full capacity; the utmost wrath has come upon them.
not in
lustful passion like the
Gentiles who do not know God;
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the
Gentiles in faith and
verity.
For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
And without controversy great is the
mystery of
godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
By common confession, the
mystery of
godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was
vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.
Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the
Gentiles.
to which I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed, and all the Gentiles would hear it. So I was delivered from the mouth of the lion.
Having your conversation
honest among the
Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the
Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the
Gentiles, when we walked in
lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and
abominable idolatries:
Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
For they went out on behalf of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the
Gentiles: and the holy city shall they
tread under foot forty and two months.
But
exclude the
courtyard outside the temple. Do not measure it, because it has been given over to the nations, and they will
trample the holy city for 42 months.
The nation of Israel, the princes, the priests and Levites, have not put away from them the strange people of the land, nor the pollutions of the
Gentiles to wit, of the
Canaanites,
Hittites, Pheresites, Jebusites, and the Moabites, Egyptians, and Edomites.
And when we were carried away
captives to Nineve, all my brethren and those that were of my kindred did eat of the bread of the
Gentiles.
Confess him before the
Gentiles, ye children of Israel: for he hath scattered us among them.
And the slaughter of our brethren, and the captivity of the country, and the
desolation of our inheritance, will he turn upon our heads among the
Gentiles,
wheresoever we shall be in
bondage; and we shall be an offence and a reproach to all them that possess us.
And my nation is this Israel, which
cried to God, and were saved: for the Lord hath saved his people, and the Lord hath delivered us from all those evils, and God hath wrought signs and great wonders, which have not been done among the
Gentiles.
Therefore hath he made two lots, one for the people of God, and another for all the Gentiles.
Therefore even upon the idols of the
Gentiles shall there be a
visitation: because in the creature of God they are become an
abomination, and stumblingblocks to the souls of men, and a
snare to the feet of the unwise.
And, behold, our sanctuary, even our beauty and our glory, is laid waste, and the
Gentiles have
profaned it.
So they recovered the law out of the hand of the
Gentiles, and out of the hand of kings, neither suffered they the
sinner to triumph.
Then
Apollonius gathered the
Gentiles together, and a great host out of Samaria, to fight against Israel.
At that time also they builded up the mount
Sion with high walls and strong towers round about, lest the
Gentiles should come and
tread it down as they had done before.
Yet at the last, their vessels being without
victuals, (for that it was the seventh year, and they in
Judea that were delivered from the
Gentiles, had eaten up the residue of the store;)
For the temple was filled with
riot and
revelling by the
Gentiles, who
dallied with harlots, and had to do with women within the circuit of the holy places, and besides that brought in things that were not lawful.
And
whoso would not
conform themselves to the manners of the
Gentiles should be put to death. Then might a man have seen the present misery.
And when he had gathered about
fourscore thousand with all the
horsemen, he came against the Jews, thinking to make the city an
habitation of the
Gentiles,
We understand also that the Jews would not consent to our father, for to be brought unto the custom of the Gentiles, but had rather keep their own manner of living: for the which cause they require of us, that we should suffer them to live after their own laws.
Now one Alcimus, who had been high priest, and had
defiled himself
wilfully in the times of their
mingling with the
Gentiles, seeing that by no means he could save himself, nor have any more access to the holy altar,
For in the former times, when they mingled not themselves with the
Gentiles, he had been accused of
Judaism, and did boldly
jeopard his body and life with all
vehemency for the religion of the Jews.
