hosts, how long
wilt thou be
angry against the prayer of thy people?

Hosts, my King and my God.

Except the LORD of
hosts had left unto us a very small
remnant, we should have been as
Sodom, and we should have been like unto
Gomorrah.
Unless the LORD of
Hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have become like
Sodom, we would have resembled
Gomorrah.
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of
hosts, the mighty One of Israel,
Ah, I will ease me of mine
adversaries, and
avenge me of mine enemies:
Therefore the Lord GOD of
Hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, declares: “
Ah, I will be relieved of My foes and
avenge Myself on My enemies.
For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
For the Day of the LORD of
Hosts will come against all the proud and lofty, against all that is
exalted— it will be humbled—
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of
hosts,
doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
For behold, the Lord GOD of Hosts is about to remove from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: the whole supply of food and water,
What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and
grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD GOD of
hosts.

crush My people and
grind the faces of the poor?” declares the Lord GOD of

For the
vineyard of the LORD of
hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of
Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of His delight. He looked for justice, but saw
bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard a cry of distress.
In mine ears said the LORD of
hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be
desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
I heard the LORD of
Hosts declare: “Surely many houses will become
desolate, great mansions left unoccupied.

hosts shall be
exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be
sanctified in righteousness.
But the LORD of
Hosts will be
exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the
stubble, and the flame consumeth the
chaff, so their root shall be as
rottenness, and their
blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of
hosts, and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will decay and their blossoms will blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of
Hosts and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
And one
cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of
hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
And they were calling out to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.”
Then said I,
Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of
hosts.
Then I said: “
Woe is me, for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips dwelling among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of
Hosts.”
Sanctify the LORD of
hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your
dread.
The LORD of
Hosts is the One you shall regard as holy. Only He should be feared; only He should be
dreaded.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of
hosts, which dwelleth in mount
Zion.
Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me as signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD of
Hosts, who dwells on Mount
Zion.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and
sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of
Hosts will
accomplish this.
For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
But the people did not return to Him who struck them; they did not seek the LORD of Hosts.
Through the wrath of the LORD of
hosts is the land
darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall
spare his brother.
By the wrath of the LORD of
Hosts the land is
scorched, and the people are fuel for the fire. No man even spares his brother.
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of
hosts, send among his fat ones
leanness; and under his glory he shall
kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

Hosts will send a wasting disease among Assyria’s
stout warriors, and under his
pomp will be
kindled a fire like a burning flame.
For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
For the Lord GOD of Hosts will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of
hosts, O my people that dwellest in
Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall
smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of
Hosts says: “O My people who dwell in
Zion, do not fear Assyria, who strikes you with a rod and lifts his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
And the LORD of
hosts shall
stir up a
scourge for him according to the slaughter of
Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
And the LORD of
Hosts will
brandish a
whip against them, as when He struck
Midian at the rock of Oreb. He will raise His staff over the sea, as He did in Egypt.
Behold, the Lord, the LORD of
hosts, shall
lop the
bough with terror: and the high ones of
stature shall be
hewn down, and the
haughty shall be humbled.
Behold, the Lord GOD of
Hosts will
lop off the branches with
terrifying power. The tall trees will be cut down, the lofty ones will be felled.
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a
tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of
hosts mustereth the
host of the battle.
Listen, a
tumult on the mountains, like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an
uproar among the kingdoms, like nations gathered together! The LORD of
Hosts is
mobilizing an army for war.
Therefore I will
shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of
hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
Therefore I will make the heavens
tremble, and the earth will be
shaken from its place at the wrath of the LORD of
Hosts on the day of His burning anger.
For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of
hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and
remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.
“I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD of
Hosts. “I will cut off from Babylon her name and her
remnant, her offspring and her
posterity,” declares the LORD.
I will also make it a possession for the
bittern, and pools of water: and I will
sweep it with the
besom of destruction, saith the LORD of
hosts.
“I will make her a place for owls and for swamplands; I will
sweep her away with the
broom of destruction,” declares the LORD of
Hosts.
The LORD of
hosts hath
sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
The LORD of
Hosts has
sworn: “Surely, as I have
planned, so will it be; as I have purposed, so will it stand.
For the LORD of
hosts hath purposed, and who shall
disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
The LORD of
Hosts has purposed, and who can
thwart Him? His hand is outstretched, so who can turn it back?
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the
remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of
hosts.
The fortress will disappear from Ephraim, and the sovereignty from Damascus. The
remnant of
Aram will be like the
splendor of the Israelites,” declares the LORD of
Hosts.
In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of
hosts of a people scattered and
peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have
spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of
hosts, the mount
Zion.
At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of
Hosts— from a people tall and smooth-
skinned, from a people widely feared, from a powerful nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— to Mount
Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD of
Hosts.
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
I will deliver the Egyptians into the hands of harsh masters, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
Where are your wise men now? Let them tell you and
reveal what the LORD of
Hosts has
planned against Egypt.
In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the
shaking of the hand of the LORD of
hosts, which he shaketh over it.
In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will
tremble with fear beneath the
uplifted hand of the LORD of
Hosts, when He brandishes it against them.
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
The land of Judah will bring terror to Egypt; whenever Judah is mentioned, Egypt will
tremble over what the LORD of
Hosts has
planned against it.
In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of
Canaan, and
swear to the LORD of
hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of
Canaan and
swear allegiance to the LORD of
Hosts. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.
And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
It will be a sign and a witness to the LORD of
Hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, He will send them a
savior and defender to
rescue them.
Whom the LORD of
hosts shall
bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
The LORD of
Hosts will
bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt My people, Assyria My
handiwork, and Israel My inheritance.”
O my
threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
O my people,
crushed on the
threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel.
For it is a day of trouble, and of
treading down, and of
perplexity by the Lord GOD of
hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
For the Lord GOD of
Hosts has set a day of
tumult and
trampling and confusion in the Valley of Vision— of breaking down the walls and crying to the mountains.
And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of
hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be
purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of
hosts.
The LORD of
Hosts has revealed in my hearing: “Until your dying day, this sin of yours will never be
atoned for,” says the Lord GOD of
Hosts.
Thus saith the Lord GOD of
hosts, Go, get thee unto this
treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
This is what the Lord GOD of
Hosts says: “Go, say to Shebna, the
steward in charge of the palace:
In that day, saith the LORD of
hosts, shall the
nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
In that day, declares the LORD of
Hosts, the
peg driven into a firm place will give way; it will be
sheared off and fall, and the load upon it will be cut down.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
The LORD of
hosts hath purposed it, to
stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
The LORD of
Hosts planned it, to
defile all its glorious beauty, to disgrace all the
renowned of the earth.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall
punish the
host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
In that day the LORD will
punish the
host of heaven above and the kings of the earth below.
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun
ashamed, when the LORD of
hosts shall reign in mount
Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
The moon will be confounded and the sun will be
ashamed; for the LORD of
Hosts will reign on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
And in this mountain shall the LORD of
hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the
lees, of fat things full of
marrow, of wines on the
lees well refined.
On this mountain the LORD of
Hosts will prepare a
banquet for all the peoples, a feast of aged wine, of choice meat, of finely aged wine.
In that day shall the LORD of
hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a
diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
On that day the LORD of
Hosts will be a crown of glory, a
diadem of
splendor to the
remnant of His people,
Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
So now, do not
mock, or your
shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of
Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole land.
This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
This also comes from the LORD of Hosts, who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.
For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion
roaring on his prey, when a multitude of
shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor
abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of
hosts come down to fight for mount
Zion, and for the hill thereof.
For this is what the LORD has said to me: “Like a lion
roaring or a young lion over its prey— and though a band of
shepherds is called out against it, it is not
terrified by their
shouting or subdued by their
clamor— so the LORD of
Hosts will come down to do battle on Mount
Zion and its heights.
As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.
Like birds
hovering overhead, so the LORD of
Hosts will protect Jerusalem. He will shield it and deliver it; He will pass over it and preserve it.”
And all the
host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a
scroll: and all their
host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
All the stars of heaven will be dissolved. The
skies will be rolled up like a
scroll, and all their stars will fall like
withered leaves from the vine, like foliage from the fig tree.
O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.
“O LORD of
Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the
cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a
remnant, and they that escape out of mount
Zion: the zeal of the LORD of
hosts shall do this.
For a
remnant will go forth from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount
Zion. The zeal of the LORD of
Hosts will
accomplish this.
Then said Isaiah to
Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of
hosts:
Then Isaiah said to
Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD of
Hosts:
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his
redeemer the LORD of
hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Thus says the LORD, the King and
Redeemer of Israel, the LORD of
Hosts: “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God but Me.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
It is I who made the earth and created man upon it. It was My hands that stretched out the heavens, and I ordained all their host.
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my
captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of
hosts.
I will raise up Cyrus in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild My city and set My exiles free, but not for payment or reward, says the LORD of Hosts.”
As for our
redeemer, the LORD of
hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Our
Redeemer—the LORD of
Hosts is His name— is the Holy One of Israel.
For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.
who indeed call
yourselves after the holy city and
lean on the God of Israel; the LORD of
Hosts is His name.
But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves
roared: The LORD of
hosts is his name.
For I am the LORD your God who stirs up the sea so that its waves
roar— the LORD of
Hosts is His name.
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of
hosts is his name; and thy
Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
For your husband is your Maker— the LORD of
Hosts is His name— the Holy One of Israel is your
Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth.
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast
forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of
hosts.
Your own evil will discipline you; your own
apostasies will
reprimand you. Consider and
realize how evil and bitter it is for you to
forsake the LORD your God and to have no fear of Me,” declares the Lord GOD of
Hosts.
But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly
heritage of the
hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.
Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of
hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall
devour them.
Therefore this is what the LORD God of Hosts says: “Because you have spoken this word, I will make My words a fire in your mouth and this people the wood it consumes.
For thus hath the LORD of
hosts said,
Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
For this is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Cut down the trees and raise a siege
ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; there is nothing but oppression in her midst.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, They shall throughly
glean the
remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “
Glean the
remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand once more like a
grape gatherer over the branches.”
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel,
Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
Thus says the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel: Correct your ways and deeds, and I will let you live in this place.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
This is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat
yourselves!
And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places
whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of
hosts.
And wherever I have banished them, the
remnant of this evil family will choose death over life,” declares the LORD of
Hosts.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
hosts, Behold, I will
melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Behold, I will refine them and test them, for what else can I do because of the daughter of My people?
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with
wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
Therefore this is what the LORD of
Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will feed this people
wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink.
Thus saith the LORD of
hosts, Consider ye, and call for the
mourning women, that they may come; and send for
cunning women, that they may come:
This is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “Take note, and
summon the
wailing women; send for the most skillful among them.
The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
For the LORD of
hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to
provoke me to anger in offering incense unto
Baal.
The LORD of
Hosts, who planted you, has decreed
disaster against you on account of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have brought upon themselves,
provoking Me to anger by burning incense to
Baal.”
But, O LORD of
hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the
reins and the heart, let me see thy
vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
O LORD of
Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart and mind, let me see Your
vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
hosts, Behold, I will
punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
So this is what the LORD of
Hosts says: “I will
punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine.
