Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:
“Tell the Israelites to do as follows with one who sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s commandments and does what is forbidden by them:
And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through
ignorance, and the thing be
hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
Now if the whole congregation of Israel strays
unintentionally and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly so that they
violate any of the LORD’s commandments and
incur guilt by doing what is forbidden,
When a ruler hath
sinned, and done somewhat through
ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
When a leader sins
unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the commandments of the LORD his God, he incurs guilt.
And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
And if one of the common people sins
unintentionally and does what is prohibited by any of the LORD’s commandments, he incurs guilt.
If a soul commit a
trespass, and sin through
ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his
trespass unto the LORD a ram without
blemish out of the flocks, with thy
estimation by shekels of silver, after the
shekel of the sanctuary, for a
trespass offering:
“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram from the flock, of proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary
shekel; it is a guilt offering.
And he shall bring a ram without
blemish out of the flock, with thy
estimation, for a
trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him concerning his
ignorance wherein he
erred and
wist it not, and it shall be
forgiven him.
He is to bring to the priest an
unblemished ram of proper value from the flock as a guilt offering. Then the priest will make
atonement on his behalf for the wrong he has committed in
ignorance, and he will be
forgiven.
Then it shall be, if ought be committed by
ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young
bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one
kid of the goats for a sin offering.
and if it was done
unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, then the whole congregation is to prepare one young bull as a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a sin offering.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be
forgiven them; for it is
ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their
ignorance:
The priest is to make
atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be
forgiven; for the sin was
unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by fire and a sin offering, presented before the LORD for their
unintentional sin.
And it shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in
ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be
forgiven, since it happened to all the people
unintentionally.
And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
Also, if one person sins
unintentionally, he is to present a year-old female goat as a sin offering.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by
ignorance before the LORD, to make an
atonement for him; and it shall be
forgiven him.
Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
You shall have the same law for the one who acts in error, whether he is a native-born
Israelite or a foreigner residing among you.
And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye
reconcile the house.
You must do the same thing on the seventh day of the month for
anyone who strays
unintentionally or in
ignorance. In this way you will make
atonement for the temple.
And now, brethren, I
wot that through
ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.
And the times of this
ignorance God
winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to
repent:
Although God overlooked the
ignorance of earlier times, He now commands all people everywhere to
repent.
For we
dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that
commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
We do not
dare to
classify or compare ourselves with some who
commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they show their
ignorance.
Having the understanding
darkened, being
alienated from the life of God through the
ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
They are
darkened in their understanding and
alienated from the life of God because of the
ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.
Who was before a
blasphemer, and a
persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
I was formerly a
blasphemer, a
persecutor, and a violent man; yet because I had acted in
ignorance and unbelief, I was shown mercy.
But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
But only the high priest entered the second room, and then only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
As
obedient children, not fashioning
yourselves according to the former lusts in your
ignorance:
As
obedient children, do not
conform to the passions of your former
ignorance.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the
ignorance of
foolish men:
For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the
ignorance of
foolish men.
For our sins are multiplied above our heads, and our ignorances have reached up unto heaven.
Remember me, and look on me,
punish me not for my sins and
ignorances, and the sins of my fathers, who have
sinned before thee:
Moreover this was not enough for them, that they
erred in the knowledge of God; but whereas they lived in the great war of
ignorance, those so great plagues called they peace.
And the expectation from within, being less, counteth the
ignorance more than the cause which bringeth the
torment.

abashed of the error of thine
ignorance.
Who will set scourges over my thoughts, and the discipline of wisdom over mine heart? that they
spare me not for mine
ignorances, and it pass not by my sins:
Lest mine
ignorances increase, and my sins abound to my destruction, and I fall before mine
adversaries, and mine enemy
rejoice over me, whose hope is far from thy mercy.
Remember the commandments, and bear no
malice to thy neighbour: remember the covenant of the Highest, and
wink at
ignorance.
My soul hath
wrestled with her, and in my doings I was exact: I stretched forth my hands to the heaven above, and
bewailed my
ignorances of her.
