And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.
And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the
interpretation of his dream, the
butler and the
baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
both of these men—the Egyptian king’s
cupbearer and
baker, who were being held in the prison—had a dream on the same night, and each dream had its own meaning.
And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no
interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not
interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
“We both had dreams,” they replied, “but there is no one to
interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Don’t
interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:
Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three branches are three days.
When the chief
baker saw that the
interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
When the chief
baker saw that the
interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: There were three baskets of white bread on my head.
And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three baskets are three days.
But he
hanged the chief
baker: as Joseph had
interpreted to them.
But Pharaoh
hanged the chief
baker, just as Joseph had described to them in his
interpretation.
And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could
interpret them unto Pharaoh.
In the morning his spirit was troubled, so he summoned all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could
interpret them for him.
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
One night both the chief
baker and I had dreams, and each dream had its own meaning.
And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he
interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did
interpret.
Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams and he interpreted them for us individually.
And it came to pass, as he
interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he
hanged.
And it happened to us just as he had
interpreted: I was restored to my position, and the other man was
hanged.”
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can
interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to
interpret it.
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can
interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can
interpret it.”
And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an
interpreter.
They did not
realize that Joseph understood them, since there was an
interpreter between them.
If thou
lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an
usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him
usury.
If you
lend money to one of My people among you who is poor, you must not act as a
creditor to him; you are not to charge him
interest.
And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, with
cunning work.
They hammered out thin sheets of gold and cut threads from them to
interweave with the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen—the work of a skilled
craftsman.
Take thou no
usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.
Do not take any
interest or profit from him, but fear your God, that your
countryman may live among you.
Thou shalt not give him thy money upon
usury, nor
lend him thy
victuals for increase.
You must not
lend him your silver at
interest or sell him your food for profit.
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have
sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have
sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you.
Intercede with the LORD so He will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses
interceded for the people.
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Do not
intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,
Then shalt thou
enquire, and make search, and ask
diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such
abomination is wrought among you;
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices
divination or
conjury,
interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
Do not charge your brother
interest on money, food, or any other type of
loan.
Unto a stranger thou mayest
lend upon
usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not
lend upon
usury: that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land
whither thou goest to possess it.
You may charge a foreigner
interest, but not your brother, so that the LORD your God may
bless you in everything to which you put your hand in the land that you are entering to possess.
Else if ye do in any wise go back, and
cleave unto the
remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
For if you turn away and
cling to the rest of these nations that remain among you, and if you
intermarry and associate with them,
And it was so, when
Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the
interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of
Midian.
When
Gideon heard the dream and its
interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Get up, for the LORD has delivered the camp of
Midian into your hand.”
And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even
threescore and seventeen men.
There he captured a young man of Succoth and
interrogated him. The young man wrote down for him the names of the seventy-seven leaders and elders of Succoth.
If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they
hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would
slay them.
If a man sins against another man, God can
intercede for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can
intercede for him?” But they would not
listen to their father, since the LORD intended to put them to death.
And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have
fetched wheat; and they
smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
They entered the
interior of the house as if to get some wheat, and they
stabbed him in the stomach. Then Rechab and his brother Baanah
slipped away.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of
cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of
fir.
He lined the
interior walls with
cedar paneling from the floor of the temple to the
ceiling, and he covered the floor with
cypress boards.
And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the
oracle he overlaid with gold.
So he overlaid with gold the whole interior of the temple, until everything was completely finished. He also overlaid with gold the entire altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.
Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon
clave unto these in love.
These women were from the nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You must not
intermarry with them, for surely they will turn your hearts after their gods.” Yet Solomon
clung to these women in love.
And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God
besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
Then the king
responded to the man of God, “
Intercede with the LORD your God and pray that my hand may be restored.” So the man of God
interceded with the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored to him as it was before.
And he made chains, as in the
oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.
He made
interwoven chains and put them on top of the pillars. He made a hundred pomegranates and fastened them into the
chainwork.
And in the days of
Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto
Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the
Syrian tongue, and
interpreted in the
Syrian tongue.
And in the days of
Artaxerxes king of Persia, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his associates wrote a letter to
Artaxerxes. It was written in
Aramaic and then translated.
Take
heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the
hurt of the kings?
See that you do not neglect this matter. Why allow this
threat to increase and the royal
interests to suffer?
Also I have made a decree, that
whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be
hanged thereon; and let his house be made a
dunghill for this.
I also decree that if any man
interferes with this directive, a beam is to be
torn from his house and raised up, and he is to be impaled on it. And his own house shall be made a pile of
rubble for this
offense.
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be
angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no
remnant nor escaping?
shall we again break Your commandments and
intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not become so
angry with us as to
wipe us out, leaving no
remnant or
survivor?
And
Haman said unto king
Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and
dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are
diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
Then
Haman informed King
Xerxes, “There is a certain people scattered and
dispersed among the peoples of every province of your kingdom. Their laws are different from
everyone else’s, and they do not obey the king’s laws. So it is not in the king’s best
interest to
tolerate them.
Yet if there is a
messenger on his side, one
mediator in a thousand, to tell a man what is right for him,
He that putteth not out his money to
usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
who
lends his money without
interest and refuses a
bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be
shaken.
Then stood up
Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
To understand a
proverb, and the
interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
by understanding the
proverbs and parables, the sayings and
riddles of the wise.
The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger
doth not
intermeddle with his joy.
The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares in its joy.
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
He who isolates himself pursues
selfish desires; he rebels against all sound judgment.
He that by
usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will
pity the poor.
He who increases his wealth by
interest and
usury lays it up for one who is kind to the poor.
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the
interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to
shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
Who is like the wise man? Who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed.
He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being
paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.
He has made its posts of silver, its base of gold, its seat of purple
fabric. Its
interior is inlaid with love by the daughters of Jerusalem.
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the
spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made
intercession for the transgressors.
Therefore I will
allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He has poured out His life unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors. Yet He bore the sin of many and made
intercession for the transgressors.
And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no
intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
He saw that there was no man; He was
amazed that there was no one to
intercede. So His own arm brought salvation, and His own righteousness sustained Him.
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make
intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
As for you, do not pray for these people, do not offer a
plea or petition on their behalf, and do not
beg Me, for I will not
listen to you.
The LORD said: “Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will
intercede with your enemy in your time of trouble, in your time of distress.
Therefore
hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:
But as for you, do not
listen to your prophets, your diviners, your
interpreters of dreams, your mediums, or your sorcerers who declare, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be taken to Babylon.
Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made
intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
Even though Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the
scroll, he would not
listen to them.
Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any
intermission,
He that hath not given forth upon
usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
He does not
engage in
usury or take excess
interest, but he withholds his hand from iniquity and executes true justice between men.
Hath given forth upon
usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
He engages in
usury and takes excess
interest. Will this son live? He will not! Since he has committed all these abominations, he will surely die; his blood will be on his own head.
That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received
usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
He withholds his hand from
harming the poor and takes no
interest or
usury. He keeps My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a man will not die for his father’s iniquity. He will surely live.
In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken
usury and increase, and thou hast
greedily gained of thy neighbours by
extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.
In you they take bribes to shed blood. You
engage in
usury, take excess
interest, and
extort your neighbors. But Me you have forgotten, declares the Lord GOD.
Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will
shew the
interpretation.
Then the astrologers answered the king in
Aramaic, “O king, may you live
forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the
interpretation.”
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the
interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a
dunghill.
The king replied to the astrologers, “My word is final: If you do not tell me the dream and its
interpretation, you will be cut into pieces and your houses will be reduced to
rubble.
But if ye
shew the dream, and the
interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore
shew me the dream, and the
interpretation thereof.
But if you tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and its interpretation.”
They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will
shew the
interpretation of it.
They answered a second time, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will give the interpretation.”
But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can
shew me the
interpretation thereof.
If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one decree for you. You have
conspired to speak before me false and
fraudulent words, hoping the situation will change. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can give me its
interpretation.”
Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would
shew the king the
interpretation.
So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him some time, so that he could give him the interpretation.
Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will
shew unto the king the
interpretation.
Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon, and said to him, “Do not
execute the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the
interpretation.”
Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in
haste and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the
captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the
interpretation.
Arioch
hastily brought Daniel before the king and said to him, “I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who will tell the king the
interpretation.”
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
The king
responded to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to tell me what I saw in the dream, as well as its
interpretation?”
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
And to me this
mystery has been revealed, not because I have more wisdom than any man alive, but in order that the
interpretation might be made known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.
This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
This was the dream; now we will tell the king its interpretation.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the
interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its
interpretation is
trustworthy.”
Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
So I issued a decree that all the wise men of Babylon be brought before me to
interpret the dream for me.
Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners came in, I told them the dream, and they could not
interpret it for me.
O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
“O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no
mystery baffles you. So explain to me the visions I saw in my dream, and their
interpretation.
This dream I king
Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the
interpretation thereof,
forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the
interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
This is the dream that I, King
Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me the
interpretation, because none of the wise men of my kingdom can
interpret it for me. But you are able, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was
astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the
interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that
hate thee, and the
interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
For a time, Daniel, who was also known as Belteshazzar, was
perplexed, and his thoughts
alarmed him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its
interpretation alarm you.” “My lord,” replied Belteshazzar, “may the dream apply to those who
hate you, and its
interpretation to your enemies!
This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree that the Most High has issued against my lord the king:
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the
interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its
interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
So all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the inscription or
interpret it for him.
Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding,
interpreting of dreams, and
shewing of hard sentences, and
dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will
shew the
interpretation.
did this because Daniel, the one he named Belteshazzar, was found to have an extraordinary spirit, as well as knowledge, understanding, and the ability to
interpret dreams, explain
riddles, and
solve difficult problems.
Summon Daniel, therefore, and he will give you the
interpretation.”
And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the
interpretation thereof: but they could not
shew the
interpretation of the thing:
Now the wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this inscription and
interpret it for me, but they could not give its
interpretation.
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make
interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the
interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are able to give
interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its
interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to
thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the
interpretation.
In
response, Daniel said to the king, “You may keep your gifts for
yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the inscription for the king and
interpret it for him.
This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
And this is the interpretation of the message: MENE means that God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
I approached one of those who were standing there, and I asked him the true meaning of all this. So he told me the interpretation of these things:
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name
Emmanuel, which being
interpreted is, God with us.
“Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him
Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can
discern the face of the sky; but can ye not
discern the signs of the times?
and in the morning, ‘
Today it will be
stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to
interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the signs of the times.
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with
usury.
Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest.
And he took the
damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being
interpreted,
Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
Taking her by the hand, Jesus said, “Talitha koum!” which means, “Little
girl, I say to you, get up!”
And they bring him unto the place
Golgotha, which is, being
interpreted, The place of a skull.
They brought Jesus to a place called
Golgotha, which means The Place of the Skull.
And at the ninth hour Jesus
cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eloi,
Eloi,
lama sabachthani? which is, being
interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?
At the ninth hour, Jesus
cried out in a loud voice, “
Eloi,
Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?”
Ye hypocrites, ye can
discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not
discern this time?
You hypocrites! You know how to
interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to
interpret the present time?
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with
usury?
Why then did you not deposit my money in the bank, and upon my return I could have collected it with interest?’
Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him,
Rabbi, (which is to say, being
interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
Jesus turned and saw them following. “What do you want?” He asked. They said to Him, “
Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are You staying?”
He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the
Messias, which is, being
interpreted, the Christ.
He first found his brother Simon and told him, “We have found the
Messiah” (which is translated as Christ).
And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus
beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called
Cephas, which is by
interpretation, A stone.
Andrew brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called
Cephas” (which is translated as Peter).
And said unto him, Go, wash in the
pool of Siloam, (which is by
interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Then He told him, “Go, wash in the
Pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came back seeing.
