And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,
the
Jebusites, the
Amorites, the Girgashites,
And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the
Jebusites.
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Hivites, and the
Jebusites, which he
sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
And when the LORD brings you into the land of the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Amorites,
Hivites, and
Jebusites—the land He
swore to your fathers that He would give you, a land flowing with milk and honey—you shall keep this service in this month.
And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the
Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the
Jebusite:
Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the
Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the
Jebusite.
The
Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the
Hittites, and the
Jebusites, and the
Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the
Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land
whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the
Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the
Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
When the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to possess, and He drives out before you many nations—the
Hittites, Girgashites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and
Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you—
And Joshua said,
Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Hivites, and the
Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the
Amorites, and the
Jebusites.
And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against
Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the
Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the
Jebusite, heard thereof;
And to the
Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the
Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under
Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, the
Perizzites, the
Hivites, and the
Jebusites:
the hill country, the foothills, the Arabah, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the lands of the
Hittites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and
Jebusites):
And the border went up by the valley of the son of
Hinnom unto the south side of the
Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of
Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:
From there the border went up the Valley of
Hinnom along the southern slope of the
Jebusites (that is, Jerusalem) and ascended to the top of the hill that faces the Valley of
Hinnom on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of
Rephaim.
As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
But the descendants of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the descendants of Judah.
And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of
Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of
Hinnom, to the side of
Jebusi on the south, and descended to En-rogel,
Then it went down to the foot of the hill that faces the Valley of
Hinnom at the northern end of the Valley of
Rephaim and ran down the Valley of
Hinnom toward the southern slope of the
Jebusites and
downward to En-rogel.
And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.
Zelah, Haeleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath-jearim—fourteen cities, along with their villages. This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.
The Benjamites, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the Benjamites.
But the man would not
tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against
Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two
asses saddled, his
concubine also was with him.
But the man was unwilling to
spend the night. He got up and departed, and arrived opposite
Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), with his two
saddled donkeys and his
concubine.
And when they were by
Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the
Jebusites, and
lodge in it.
When they were near
Jebus and the day was almost gone, the servant said to his master, “Please, let us stop at this
Jebusite city and
spend the night here.”
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the
Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the
lame, thou shalt not come in
hither: thinking, David cannot come in
hither.
Now the king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the
Jebusites who inhabited the land. The
Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and
lame can
repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
And David said on that day,
Whosoever getteth up to the
gutter, and smiteth the
Jebusites, and the
lame and the blind, that are
hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the
lame shall not come into the house.
On that day he said, “
Whoever attacks the
Jebusites must use the water shaft to reach the
lame and blind who are
despised by David.” That is why it is said, “The blind and the
lame will never enter the palace.”
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the
Jebusite.
But when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented from the
calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was by the
threshing floor of Araunah the
Jebusite.
And
Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the
Jebusite.
And that day
Gad came to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the LORD on the
threshing floor of Araunah the
Jebusite.”
The Jebusite also, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,
the
Jebusites, the
Amorites, the Girgashites,
And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
Then David and all the Israelites marched to Jerusalem (that is, Jebus), where the Jebusites inhabited the land.
And the inhabitants of
Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come
hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of
Zion, which is the city of David.
The people of
Jebus said to David, “You will never get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of
Zion (that is, the City of David).
And David said,
Whosoever smiteth the
Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So
Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
Now David had said, “
Whoever is the first to strike down a
Jebusite will become chief commander.” And
Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and he became the chief.
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
Then the angel of the LORD commanded
Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
Then the angel of the LORD ordered
Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD on the
threshing floor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him at the
threshing floor of Ornan the
Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount
Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount
Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David had prepared on the
threshing floor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Perizzites, the
Jebusites, the
Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the
Amorites.
After these things had been accomplished, the leaders approached me and said, “The people of Israel, including the priests and Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the surrounding peoples whose abominations are like those of the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Perizzites,
Jebusites,
Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and
Amorites.
And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the
Canaanites and
Hittites, of the
Amorites and
Perizzites, of the
Jebusites and Girgashites— to give it to his descendants. You have kept Your promise, because You are righteous.
And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and
Ekron as a
Jebusite.
I will remove the blood from their mouths and the abominations from between their teeth. Then they too will become a
remnant for our God; they will become like a clan in Judah, and
Ekron will be like the
Jebusites.
The nation of Israel, the princes, the priests and Levites, have not put away from them the strange people of the land, nor the pollutions of the Gentiles to wit, of the
Canaanites,
Hittites, Pheresites,
Jebusites, and the Moabites, Egyptians, and Edomites.
And they cast forth before them the Chanaanite, the Pherezite, the Jebusite, and the Sychemite, and all the Gergesites, and they dwelt in that country many days.
