lack five of the fifty righteous:
wilt thou destroy all the city for
lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

And when they did
mete it with an
omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no
lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
When they measured it by the
omer, he who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no shortfall. Each one gathered as much as he needed to eat.
And every
oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be
lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt. You must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering; you are to add salt to each of your offerings.
Either a
bullock or a lamb that hath any thing
superfluous or
lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a
freewill offering; but for a
vow it shall not be accepted.
And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Indeed, the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. The LORD your God has been with you these forty years, and you have lacked nothing.
A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without
scarceness, thou shalt not
lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest
dig brass.
a land where you will eat food without
scarcity, where you will
lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron and whose hills are ready to be mined for copper.
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness,
wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
the
afterbirth that comes from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for
lack of anything else in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you within your gates.
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
So the five men departed and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living securely, like the Sidonians,
tranquil and
unsuspecting. There was nothing
lacking in the land and no
oppressive ruler. And they were far away from the Sidonians and had no alliance with
anyone.
When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.
When you enter, you will come to an
unsuspecting people and a
spacious land, for God has delivered it into your hand. It is a place where nothing on earth is
lacking.”
Yet there is both straw and
provender for our
asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy
handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.
even though there is both straw and feed for our
donkeys, and bread and wine for me and the
maidservant and young man with me. There is nothing that we, your servants,
lack.”
And said, O LORD God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel?
“Why, O LORD God of Israel,” they
cried out, “has this happened in Israel?
Today in Israel one tribe is missing!”
And there was nothing
lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither
spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the
plunder the
Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.
And
Joab returned from following
Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there
lacked of David’s servants
nineteen men and
Asahel.
When
Joab returned from pursuing
Abner, he gathered all the troops. In addition to
Asahel,
nineteen of David’s servants were missing,
Let it rest on the head of
Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of
Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a
leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that
lacketh bread.
May it
whirl over the heads of
Joab and the entire house of his father, and may the house of
Joab never be without one having a discharge or skin disease, or one who leans on a staff or falls by the sword or
lacks food.”
Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
So David and all the people with him got up and crossed the Jordan. By
daybreak, there was no one left who had not crossed the Jordan.
And those officers provided
victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they
lacked nothing.
Each month the governors in turn provided food for King Solomon and all who came to his table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou
lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing:
howbeit let me go in any wise.
But Pharaoh asked him, “What have you
lacked here with me that you suddenly want to go back to your own country?” “Nothing,”
Hadad replied, “but please let me go.”
Yea, forty years
didst thou
sustain them in the wilderness, so that they
lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
For forty years You sustained them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.
The old lion perisheth for
lack of prey, and the
stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.
The old lion perishes for
lack of prey, and the cubs of the
lioness are scattered.
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
if I have seen one perish for
lack of clothing, or a
needy man without a
cloak,
Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
‘Job speaks without knowledge; his words lack insight.’
Who provideth for the
raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they
wander for
lack of meat.
Who provides food for the
raven when its young cry out to God as they
wander about for
lack of food?
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Young lions go
lacking and
hungry, but those who seek the LORD
lack no good thing.
He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
He who admonishes the nations, does He not discipline? He who teaches man, does He lack knowledge?
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go
astray.
He dies for
lack of discipline, led
astray by his own great folly.
But
whoso committeth
adultery with a woman
lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
And
beheld among the simple ones, I
discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
I saw among the simple, I noticed among the youths, a young man lacking judgment,
Whoso is simple, let him turn in
hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
“
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who
lacks judgment.
Whoso is simple, let him turn in
hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
“
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who
lacks judgment.
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Wisdom is found on the lips of the
discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who
lacks judgment.
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of judgment.
He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
Whoever shows contempt for his
neighbor lacks judgment, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
For
lack of guidance, a nation falls, but with many counselors comes
deliverance.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s
snout is a beautiful woman who
lacks discretion.
He that is
despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and
lacketh bread.
Better to be lightly esteemed yet have a servant, than to be self-important but lack food.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
A large population is a king’s
splendor, but a
lack of subjects is a prince’s ruin.
Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
Folly is joy to one who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding walks a straight path.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh
surety in the presence of his friend.
A man
lacking judgment strikes hands in
pledge and puts up security for his
neighbor.
I went by the field of the
slothful, and by the
vineyard of the man void of understanding;
I went past the field of a slacker and by the
vineyard of a man
lacking judgment.
He that giveth unto the poor shall not
lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a
curse.
Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.
Surely I am more
brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
Surely I am the most ignorant of men, and I lack the understanding of a man.
The heart of her husband
doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of
spoil.
The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he lacks nothing of value.
That which is
crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
God gives a man riches, wealth, and honor, so that he
lacks nothing his heart desires; but God does not allow him to enjoy them. Instead, a stranger will enjoy them. This is
futile and a
grievous affliction.
Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head
lack no
ointment.
Let your garments always be white, and never
spare the oil for your head.
Yea also, when he that is a
fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a
fool.
Even as the
fool walks along the road, his sense is
lacking, and he shows
everyone that he is a
fool.
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are
famished, and their multitude dried up with
thirst.
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her
mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
Search and read the
scroll of the LORD: Not one of these will go missing, not one will
lack her
mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will gather them by His Spirit.
Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand
shortened at all, that it cannot
redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my
rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for
thirst.
Why was no one there when I arrived? Why did no one answer when I called? Is My hand too short to
redeem you? Or do I
lack the strength to deliver you? Behold, My
rebuke dries up the sea; I turn the rivers into a desert; the fish
rot for
lack of water and die of
thirst.
The
captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.
The
captive will soon be freed; he will not die in the
dungeon, and his bread will not be
lacking.
And the wild
asses did stand in the high places, they
snuffed up the wind like
dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
Wild
donkeys stand on barren heights; they
pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail for
lack of pasture.”
And I will set up
shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be
lacking, saith the LORD.
I will raise up
shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any go missing, declares the LORD.
For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
For this is what the LORD says: David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel,
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
And from the daughter of
Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
All the
splendor has departed from the Daughter of
Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; they
lack the strength to
flee in the face of the hunter.
They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away,
stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.
Those slain by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger, who waste away, pierced with pain because the fields lack produce.
That they may want bread and water, and be
astonied one with another, and
consume away for their iniquity.
So they will
lack food and water; they will be
appalled at the sight of one another wasting away in their iniquity.
And they were scattered, because there is no
shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.
They were scattered for
lack of a
shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild beasts.
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no
shepherd, neither did my
shepherds search for my flock, but the
shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because My flock
lacks a
shepherd and has become prey and food for every wild beast, and because My
shepherds did not search for My flock but fed themselves instead,
My people are destroyed for
lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also
reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also
forget thy children.
My people are destroyed for
lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also
reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also
forget your children.
And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I
beset all your cities with cleanness of teeth and all your towns with
lack of bread, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like sheep,
oppressed for
lack of a
shepherd.
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
“All these I have kept,” said the young man. “What do I still lack?”
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou
lackest: go thy way, sell
whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Jesus looked at him, loved him, and said to him, “There is one thing you
lack: Go, sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it
withered away, because it
lacked moisture.
Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the seedlings
withered because they had no moisture.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet
lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
On hearing this, Jesus told him, “You still
lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
And he said unto them, When I sent you without
purse, and
scrip, and
shoes,
lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without
purse or
bag or
sandals, did you
lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
There were no
needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their property, bring the proceeds from the sales,
For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
What if some did not have faith? Will their
lack of faith
nullify God’s faithfulness?
So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Therefore you do not
lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly
await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may
devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that
Satan will not
tempt you through your
lack of self-control.
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
I am
glad of the coming of Stephanas and
Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was
lacking on your part they have supplied.
I am
glad that Stephanas,
Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was
lacking from you.
As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
As it is written: “He who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no shortfall.”
But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
Although I am not a polished speaker, I am certainly not lacking in knowledge. We have made this clear to you in every way possible.
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was
lacking to me the brethren which came from
Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being
burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
And when I was with you and in need, I was not a burden to
anyone; for the brothers who came from
Macedonia supplied my needs. I have
refrained from being a burden to you in any way, and I will continue to do so.
Because for the work of Christ he was
nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your
lack of service toward me.
because he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for your
deficit of service to me.
But I
rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye
lacked opportunity.
Now I
rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have revived your
concern for me. You were indeed concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
Who now
rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
Now I
rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is
lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, which is the church.
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking from your faith.
That ye may walk
honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have
lack of nothing.
Then you will
behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on
anyone.
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an
ensample unto you to follow us.
Not that we
lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to
imitate.
But let
patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Allow
perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be
mature and complete, not
lacking anything.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
But he that
lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see
afar off, and hath forgotten that he was
purged from his old sins.
But
whoever lacks these traits is
nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been
cleansed from his past sins.
I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
A man shall have no
pity upon his neighbour, but shall destroy their houses with the sword, and
spoil their goods, because of the
lack of bread, and for great
tribulation.
Now when she heard the evil words of the people against the governor, that they
fainted for
lack of water; for
Judith had heard all the words that Ozias had spoken unto them, and that he had
sworn to deliver the city unto the Assyrians after five days;
And took their money that came to
buy them, and pursued them far: but
lacking time they returned:
