The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to
obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall
pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
As for the eye that mocks a father and scorns obedience to a mother, may the ravens of the valley
pluck it out and young vultures
devour it.
But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall
spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon
Edom and Moab; and the children of
Ammon shall
obey them.
They will
swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines to the west; together they will
plunder the sons of the east. They will lay their hands on
Edom and Moab, and the
Ammonites will be subject to them.
That this is a
rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
These are
rebellious people,
deceitful children, children unwilling to
obey the LORD’s instruction.
Who among you will give ear to this? who will
hearken and hear for the time to come?
Who among you will pay attention to this? Who will
listen and
obey hereafter?
Who gave Jacob for a
spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have
sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they
obedient unto his law.
Who gave Jacob up for
spoil, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD, against whom we have
sinned? They were unwilling to walk in His ways, and they would not
obey His law.
Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
Who among you fears the LORD and
obeys the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD; let him
lean on his God.
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast
transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not
obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Only acknowledge your guilt, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God. You have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every green tree and have not obeyed My voice,’” declares the LORD.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not
obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not
obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
but this is what I commanded them: Obey Me, and I will be your God, and you will be My people. You must walk in all the ways I have commanded you, so that it may go well with you.
But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
Therefore you must say to them, ‘This is the nation that would not
listen to the voice of the LORD their God and would not receive correction. Truth has perished; it has disappeared from their lips.
And the LORD saith, Because they have
forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not
obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
And the LORD answered, “It is because they have
forsaken My law, which I set before them; they have not walked in it or
obeyed My voice.
And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel;
Cursed be the man that
obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
You must tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
Cursed is the man who does not
obey the words of this covenant,
Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
which I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey Me, and do everything I command you, and you will be My people, and I will be your God.’
For I earnestly
protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and
protesting, saying,
Obey my voice.
For from the time I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt until
today, I strongly
warned them again and again, saying, ‘
Obey My voice.’
Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.
Yet they would not
obey or
incline their ears, but each one followed the
stubbornness of his evil heart. So I brought on them all the curses of this covenant I had commanded them to follow but they did not keep.”
They are turned back to the
iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
They have returned to the sins of their forefathers who refused to obey My words. They have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their fathers.
But if they will not
obey, I will utterly
pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
But if they will not
obey, then I will
uproot that nation; I will
uproot it and destroy it, declares the LORD.”
And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not
hearken unto me:
And you have done more evil than your fathers. See how each of you follows the
stubbornness of his evil heart instead of
obeying Me.
But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
If it do evil in my sight, that it
obey not my voice, then I will
repent of the good,
wherewith I said I would benefit them.
and if it does evil in My sight and does not
listen to My voice, then I will relent of the good I had intended for it.
But if ye will not hear these words, I
swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a
desolation.
But if you do not
obey these words, then I
swear by Myself, declares the LORD, that this house will become a pile of
rubble.’”
I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
I
warned you when you were secure. You said, ‘I will not
listen.’ This has been your way from youth, that you have not
obeyed My voice.
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has given
heed to His word and
obeyed it?
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Because you have not obeyed My words,
Therefore now
amend your ways and your doings, and
obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will
repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
So now, correct your ways and deeds, and
obey the voice of the LORD your God, so that He might relent of the
disaster He has pronounced against you.
And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
They came in and possessed it, but they did not
obey Your voice or walk in Your law. They failed to perform all that You commanded them to do, and so You have brought upon them all this
disaster.
Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his
manservant, and every one his
maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they
obeyed, and let them go.
So all the officials and all the people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their menservants and maidservants and no longer hold them in
bondage. They
obeyed and released them,
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not
hearkened unto me, in
proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I
proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the
pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: You have not
obeyed Me; you have not proclaimed freedom, each man for his brother and for his
neighbor. So now I
proclaim freedom for you, declares the LORD—freedom to fall by sword, by plague, and by famine! I will make you a
horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
And we have
obeyed the voice of our
forefather Jonadab son of Rechab in all he commanded us. So we have not
drunk wine all our lives—neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters.
But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
But we have lived in tents and have
obeyed and done exactly as our
forefather Jonadab commanded us.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to
hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem: ‘Will you not accept discipline and obey My words?’ declares the LORD.
The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but
obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye
hearkened not unto me.
The words of Jonadab son of Rechab have been carried out. He commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not
drunk it to this very day because they have
obeyed the command of their
forefather. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you have not
obeyed Me!
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
Therefore this is what the LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring to Judah and to all the residents of Jerusalem all the
disaster I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them but they have not
obeyed, and I have called to them but they have not answered.’”
And Jeremiah said unto the house of the
Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have
obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
Then Jeremiah said to the house of the
Rechabites: “This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have
obeyed the command of your
forefather Jonadab and have kept all his commandments and have done all that he charged you to do,
But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did
hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
But he and his officers and the people of the land refused to obey the words that the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee.
Obey, I
beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live.
“They will not hand you over,” Jeremiah replied. “Obey the voice of the LORD in what I am telling you, that it may go well with you and you may live.
Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have
sinned against the LORD, and have not
obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
and now the LORD has fulfilled it; He has done just as He said. Because you people have
sinned against the LORD and have not
obeyed His voice, this thing has happened to you.
Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well with us, for we will obey the voice of the LORD our God!”
But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,
But if you say, ‘We will not stay in this land,’ and you thus disobey the voice of the LORD your God,
And now I have this day declared it to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent me unto you.
For I have told you
today, but you have not
obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in all He has sent me to tell you.
So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.
So Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces disobeyed the command of the LORD to stay in the land of Judah.
So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.
So they entered the land of Egypt because they did not obey the voice of the LORD, and they went as far as Tahpanhes.
Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have
sinned against the LORD, and have not
obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his
testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
Because you burned incense and
sinned against the LORD, and did not
obey the voice of the LORD or walk in His instruction, His statutes, and His
testimonies, this
disaster has
befallen you, as you see
today.”
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and
obey him.
Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and
obey Him.’
Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in His laws, which He set before us through His servants the prophets.
Yea, all Israel have
transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not
obey thy voice; therefore the
curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have
sinned against him.
All Israel has
transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to
obey Your voice; so the oath and the
curse written in the Law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us, because we have
sinned against You.
Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
Therefore the LORD has kept the
calamity in store and brought it upon us. For the LORD our God is righteous in all He does; yet we have not
obeyed His voice.
For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit
whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take
heed to the LORD.
They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be
promiscuous but not multiply. For they have stopped
obeying the LORD.
My God will cast them away, because they did not
hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
My God will
reject them because they have not
obeyed Him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can
abide it?
The LORD raises His voice in the presence of His army. Indeed, His camp is very large, for mighty are those who
obey His command. For the Day of the LORD is great and very
dreadful. Who can
endure it?
I will take
vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not
obeyed Me.”
She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
She
heeded no voice; she accepted no correction. She does not trust in the LORD; she has not drawn near to her God.
Then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the
remnant of the people,
obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of
Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
Then
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the
remnant of the people,
obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet
Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. So the people feared the LORD.
And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
But the men
marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea
obey him!
The men were
amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea
obey Him!”
Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
And they were all
amazed,
insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do
obey him.
All the people were
amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they
obey Him!”
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Overwhelmed with fear, they asked one another, “Who is this, that even the wind and the sea
obey Him?”
And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
“Where is your faith?” He asked.
Frightened and
amazed, they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they
obey Him!”
But he said,
Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of
mustard seed, ye might say unto this
sycamine tree, Be thou
plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should
obey you.
And the Lord answered, “If you have faith the size of a
mustard seed, you can say to this
mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will
obey you.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
But Peter and the other apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
For before these days rose up Theudas,
boasting himself to be
somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as
obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to
nought.
Some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be
somebody, and about four hundred men joined him. He was killed, all his followers were
dispersed, and it all came to nothing.
After this man rose up
Judas of
Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as
obeyed him, were
dispersed.
After him,
Judas the
Galilean appeared in the days of the census and drew away people after him. He too perished, and all his followers were scattered.
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
But our fathers refused to obey him. Instead, they rejected him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt.
But there rose up certain of the sect of the
Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to
circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
But some believers from the party of the
Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles must be
circumcised and required to
obey the law of Moses.”
And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
As they went from town to town, they delivered the decisions handed down by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey.
But unto them that are
contentious, and do not
obey the truth, but
obey unrighteousness,
indignation and wrath,
But for those who are self-seeking and who
reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger.
Let not sin therefore reign in your
mortal body, that ye should
obey it in the lusts thereof.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your
mortal body so that you
obey its desires.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to
obey, his servants ye are to whom ye
obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Do you not know that when you offer
yourselves as
obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you
obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness?
But God be
thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have
obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
But
thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly
obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
But not all of them
welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
You were running so well. Who has
obstructed you from
obeying the truth?
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Servants, be
obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and
trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Slaves,
obey your earthly masters with respect and fear and
sincerity of heart, just as you would
obey Christ.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always
obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling.
Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always
obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and
trembling.
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
Servants,
obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Slaves,
obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with
sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God, and that
obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
And if any man
obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be
ashamed.
Take note of
anyone who does not
obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be
ashamed.
Put them in mind to be subject to
principalities and powers, to
obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
Remind the believers to submit to rulers and authorities, to be
obedient and ready for every good work,
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance,
obeyed; and he went out, not knowing
whither he went.
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, without knowing where he was going.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit
yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can guide the whole animal.
Seeing ye have
purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
fervently:
Since you have
purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
Wives, in the same way, submit
yourselves to your husbands, so that even if they refuse to believe the word, they will be won over without words by the
behavior of their wives
Even as
Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any
amazement.
just as
Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. And you are her children if you do what is right and refuse to give way to fear.
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Blessed is the one who reads
aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and
obey what is written in it, because the time is near.
So all his people and his armies
obey him:
furthermore he lieth down, he eateth and drinketh, and taketh his rest:
O ye men, how should not the king be mightiest, when in such sort he is obeyed? And he held his tongue.
For we likewise, as ye, do
obey your Lord, and do sacrifice unto him from the days of Azbazareth the king of the Assyrians, who brought us
hither.
Like as thou hast decreed, and as many as do obey the law of the Lord.
What shall I do unto thee, O Jacob? thou, Juda, wouldest not obey me: I will turn me to other nations, and unto those will I give my name, that they may keep my statutes.
For then every one obeyed: but now the manners of them which are created in this world that is made are corrupted by a perpetual seed, and by a law which is unsearchable rid themselves.
For they
obeyed not thy commandments: wherefore thou hast delivered us for a
spoil, and unto captivity, and unto death, and for a
proverb of reproach to all the nations among whom we are
dispersed.
