And thou shalt make a
candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the
candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his
bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.
Then you are to make a lampstand of pure, hammered gold. It shall be made of one piece, including its base and shaft, its cups, and its buds and petals.
Three
bowls made like unto almonds, with a
knop and a flower in one branch; and three
bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a
knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the
candlestick.
There are to be three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and
petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extend from the lampstand.
And in the
candlestick shall be four
bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.
And on the lampstand there shall be four cups shaped like
almond blossoms with buds and
petals.
And he made the
candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the
candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his
bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:
Then he made the lampstand out of pure hammered gold, all of one piece: its base and shaft, its cups, and its buds and petals.
Three
bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a
knop and a flower; and three
bowls made like almonds in another branch, a
knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the
candlestick.
There were three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and
petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extended from the lampstand.
And in the
candlestick were four
bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:
And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like
almond blossoms with buds and

He sent messengers therefore unto
Balaam the son of Beor to
Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they
abide over against me:
he sent messengers to
Balaam son of Beor at
Pethor, which is by the Euphrates in the land of his people. “Behold, a people has come out of Egypt,” said Balak. “They cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.
Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they
hired against thee
Balaam the son of Beor of
Pethor of
Mesopotamia, to
curse thee.
For they did not meet you with food and water on your way out of Egypt, and they
hired Balaam son of Beor from
Pethor in
Aram-naharaim to
curse you.
Then
Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy
petition that thou hast asked of him.
“Go in peace,”
Eli replied, “and may the God of Israel grant the
petition you have asked of Him.”
For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him,
And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.
So now I have just one request of you; do not deny me.” “State your request,” she told him.
Then she said, I desire one small
petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not
nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee
nay.
“I have just one small request of you,” she said. “Do not deny me.” “Make your request, my mother,” the king replied, “for I will not deny you.”
What prayer and
supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou their prayer and their
supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and
petition, and may You
uphold their cause.
And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and
supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from
kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
Now when Solomon had finished praying this entire prayer and
petition to the LORD, he got up before the altar of the LORD, where he had been
kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven.
And let these my words,
wherewith I have made
supplication before the LORD, be
nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:
And may these words with which I have made my
petition before the LORD be near to the LORD our God day and night, so that He may
uphold the cause of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,
And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy
supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have
hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
And the LORD said to him: “I have heard your prayer and
petition before Me. I have consecrated this temple you have built by putting My Name there
forever; My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and
forgive thy people which have
sinned against thee.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and
petition, and may You
uphold their cause. May You
forgive Your people who
sinned against You.
And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his
supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then
Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
And when he prayed to Him, the LORD received his
plea and heard his
petition; so He brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then
Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
So we fasted and
besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He granted our request.
Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,)
Pethahiah, Judah, and
Eliezer.
Among the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (that is, Kelita),
Pethahiah, Judah, and
Eliezer.
Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and
Pethahiah, said, Stand up and
bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is
exalted above all blessing and praise.
Then the Levites—Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and
Pethahiah—said, “Stand up and
bless the LORD your God from
everlasting to
everlasting: Blessed be Your glorious name, and may it be
exalted above all blessing and praise.
And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.
Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a
descendant of Zerah son of Judah, was the king’s agent in every matter concerning the people.
And the king said unto
Esther at the
banquet of wine, What is thy
petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
And as they
drank their wine, the king said to
Esther, “What is your
petition? It will be given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
Then answered
Esther, and said, My
petition and my request is;
Esther replied, “This is my
petition and my request:
If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my
petition, and to perform my request, let the king and
Haman come to the
banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to
morrow as the king hath said.
If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my
petition and
fulfill my request, may the king and
Haman come
tomorrow to the
banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question.”
And the king said again unto
Esther on the second day at the
banquet of wine, What is thy
petition, queen
Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.
and as they
drank their wine on that second day, the king asked once more, “Queen
Esther, what is your
petition? It will be given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
Then
Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my
petition, and my people at my request:
Queen
Esther replied, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, grant me my life as my
petition, and the lives of my people as my request.
And the king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in
Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy
petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your
petition? It will be given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”
Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or
wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
Can you
pet him like a bird or put him on a
leash for your maidens?
We will
rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy
petitions.
May we
shout for joy at your victory and raise a
banner in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your
petitions.
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make
intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
As for you, do not pray for these people, do not offer a
plea or
petition on their behalf, and do not
beg Me, for I will not
listen to you.
It may be they will present their
supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the
fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
Perhaps they will bring their
petition before the LORD, and each one will turn from his wicked way; for great are the anger and
fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my
supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of
Jonathan the
scribe, lest I die there.
But now please
listen, O my lord the king. May my
petition come before you. Do not send me back to the house of
Jonathan the
scribe, or I will die there.”
Then thou shalt say unto them, I presented my
supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to
Jonathan’s house, to die there.
then tell them, ‘I was presenting to the king my
petition that he not return me to the house of
Jonathan to die there.’”
And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we
beseech thee, our
supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this
remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our
petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire
remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
And said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your
supplication before him;
Jeremiah told them, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition:
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a
petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who
petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God.
Then these men went as a group and found Daniel
petitioning and
imploring his God.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not sign a decree that for thirty days any man who
petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
Then they told the king, “Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, shows no regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed. He still makes his petition three times a day.”
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and
sackcloth, and ashes:
So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and
petition, with fasting,
sackcloth, and ashes.
Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to
shine upon thy sanctuary that is
desolate, for the Lord’s sake.
So now, our God, hear the prayers and
petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to
shine upon Your
desolate sanctuary.
O my God,
incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great
mercies.
Incline Your ear, O my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the
desolation of the city that bears Your name. For we are not presenting our
petitions before You because of our righteous acts, but because of Your great
compassion.
And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and
confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my
supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
While I was speaking, praying,
confessing my sin and that of my people Israel, and presenting my
petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy mountain—
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:
The word of the LORD that came to
Joel the son of
Pethuel.
This is the word of the LORD that came to
Joel son of
Pethuel:
And Jesus, walking by the sea of
Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called
Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called
Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.
When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law sick in bed with a fever.
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon, called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
And
Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou,
bid me come unto thee on the water.
“Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”
And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore
didst thou doubt?
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”
Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
Peter said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
And I say also unto thee, That thou art
Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of
hell shall not prevail against it.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
Then
Peter took him, and began to
rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Peter took Him aside and began to
rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!”
But he turned, and said unto
Peter, Get thee behind me,
Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
But Jesus turned and said to
Peter, “Get behind Me,
Satan! You are a
stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
Then answered
Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou
wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, I will put up three shelters—one for You, one for Moses, and one for
Elijah.”
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
While
Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud
enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Listen to Him!”
And when they were come to
Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to
Peter, and said,
Doth not your master pay tribute?
After they had arrived in
Capernaum, the collectors of the two-
drachma tax came to
Peter and asked, “Does your Teacher pay the two
drachmas?”
He saith,
Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
“
Yes,” he answered. When
Peter entered the house, Jesus
preempted him. “What do you think, Simon?” He asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs and taxes: from their own sons, or from others?”
Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
“From others,”
Peter answered. “Then the sons are
exempt,” Jesus declared.
Then came
Peter to him, and said, Lord, how
oft shall my brother sin against me, and I
forgive him? till seven times?
Then
Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I
forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Then answered
Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have
forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
“Look,” Peter replied, “we have left everything to follow You. What then will there be for us?”
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be
offended because of thee, yet will I never be
offended.
Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
Peter replied, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the other disciples said the same thing.
And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them
asleep, and saith unto
Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter.
But
Peter followed him
afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
But
Peter followed Him at a distance, right up to the
courtyard of the high priest. And he went in and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
Now
Peter sat without in the palace: and a
damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also
wast with Jesus of
Galilee.
Meanwhile,
Peter was sitting out in the
courtyard, and a servant
girl came up to him. “You also were with Jesus the
Galilean,” she said.
And when he was gone out into the
porch, another
maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of
Nazareth.
When
Peter had gone out to the
gateway, another servant
girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus of
Nazareth.”
And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
After a little while, those standing nearby came up to
Peter. “Surely you are one of them,” they said, “for your
accent gives you away.”
And
Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the
cock crow, thou shalt deny me
thrice. And he went out, and
wept bitterly.
Then
Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: “Before the
rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and
wept bitterly.
These are the twelve He appointed: Simon (whom He named Peter),
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
And He did not allow
anyone to
accompany Him except
Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
And he spake that saying openly. And
Peter took him, and began to
rebuke him.
He spoke this message quite
frankly, and
Peter took Him aside and began to
rebuke Him.
But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he
rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me,
Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
But Jesus, turning and looking at His disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me,
Satan! For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
And after six days Jesus taketh with him
Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was
transfigured before them.
After six days Jesus took with Him
Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There He was
transfigured before them.
And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Peter said to Jesus, “
Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for You, one for Moses, and one for
Elijah.”
For he
wist not what to say; for they were
sore afraid.
For they were all so
terrified that
Peter did not know what else to say.
Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
Peter began to say to Him, “Look, we have left everything and followed You.”
And
Peter calling to
remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is
withered away.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,
But
Peter said unto him, Although all shall be
offended, yet will not I.
Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I never will.”
But he spake the more
vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
But
Peter kept
insisting, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.
And he taketh with him
Peter and James and John, and began to be
sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be deeply troubled and distressed.
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
Then Jesus returned and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you
asleep?” He asked. “Were you not able to keep watch for one hour?
And
Peter followed him
afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the
courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the officers and warmed himself by the fire.
And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
While
Peter was in the
courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came down
And when she saw
Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also
wast with Jesus of
Nazareth.
and saw him warming himself there. She looked at
Peter and said, “You also were with Jesus the
Nazarene.”
And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to
Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth
thereto.
But he denied it again. After a little while, those standing nearby said once more to
Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you too are a
Galilean.”
And the second time the
cock crew. And
Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the
cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me
thrice. And when he thought
thereon, he
wept.
And immediately the
rooster crowed a second time. Then
Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the
rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he broke down and
wept.
But go your way, tell his disciples and
Peter that he goeth before you into
Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
But go, tell His disciples and
Peter, ‘He is going
ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’”
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees. “Go away from me, Lord,” he said, “for I am a sinful man.”
Simon, (whom he also named
Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and
Bartholomew,
Simon, whom He named
Peter, and his brother Andrew; James and John; Philip and
Bartholomew;
