sacrifices and sweet incense: the
shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the

forsaken him.
Every morning and every evening they present burnt offerings and
fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of
showbread on the

forsaken Him.

Then
Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated
yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring
sacrifices and
thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in
sacrifices and
thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
Then
Hezekiah said, “Now that you have consecrated
yourselves to the LORD, come near and bring
sacrifices and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.” So the assembly brought
sacrifices and
thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings.
Hath not the same
Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
Did not
Hezekiah himself remove His high places and His altars and say to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn
sacrifices’?
And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of
Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used
witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
He
sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of
Hinnom. He practiced
sorcery,

provoking Him to anger.

Manasseh his father: for Amon
sacrificed unto all the carved images which
Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father
Manasseh had done. Amon served and
sacrificed to all the idols that his father
Manasseh had made,
And they
brake down the altars of
Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the
molten images, he
brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and
strowed it upon the graves of them that had
sacrificed unto them.
Then in his presence the altars of the Baals were
torn down, and he cut to pieces the incense altars that were above them. He
shattered the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images,
crushed them to dust, and scattered them over the graves of those who had
sacrificed to them.
Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and

Then Jeshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests, along with
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates, began to build the altar of the God of Israel to
sacrifice burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings
thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
They set up the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD—both the morning and evening burnt offerings—even though they feared the people of the land.
Then they came to
Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do
sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up
hither.
they approached
Zerubbabel and the heads of the families, saying, “Let us build with you because, like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to Him since the time of King Esar-haddon of Assyria, who brought us here.”
In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered
sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof
threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof
threescore cubits;
In the first year of King Cyrus, he issued a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem: Let the house be rebuilt as a place for offering sacrifices, and let its foundations be firmly laid. It is to be sixty cubits high and sixty cubits wide,
That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
Then they will be able to offer
sacrifices of a sweet
aroma to the God of heaven and to pray for the lives of the king and his sons.
Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel,
ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.
Then the exiles who had returned from captivity sacrificed burnt offerings to the God of Israel: 12 bulls for all Israel, 96 rams, 77 lambs, and a sin offering of 12 male goats. All this was a burnt offering to the LORD.
Then were assembled unto me every one that
trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the
transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat
astonied until the evening
sacrifice.
Then
everyone who
trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat there in
horror until the evening offering.
And at the evening
sacrifice I arose up from my
heaviness; and having rent my garment and my
mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God.
At the evening offering, I got up from my
humiliation with my
tunic and
cloak torn, and I fell on my knees, spread out my hands to the LORD my God,
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they
fortify themselves? will they
sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the
rubbish which are burned?
before his associates and the army of Samaria, saying, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Can they restore the wall by themselves? Will they offer
sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of
rubble?”
Also that day they offered great
sacrifices, and
rejoiced: for God had made them
rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children
rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even
afar off.
On that day they offered great
sacrifices,
rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also
rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from
afar.
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for
yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and
sacrifice a burnt offering for
yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt
sacrifice;
Selah.
May He remember all your gifts and look
favorably on your burnt offerings.
Selah And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle
sacrifices of joy; I will sing,
yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
Then my head will be held high above my enemies around me. At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
Sacrifice and offering thou
didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but my ears You have opened. Burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not require.
Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
“Gather to Me My saints, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
I do not
rebuke you for your
sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are ever before Me.
Offer unto God
thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
Sacrifice a
thank offering to God, and
fulfill your vows to the Most High.
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation
aright will I
shew the salvation of God.
He who
sacrifices a
thank offering honors Me, and to him who rights his way, I will show the salvation of God.”
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings.
The
sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a
contrite heart, O God, thou
wilt not
despise.
The
sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a
contrite heart, O God, You will not
despise.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, in whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on Your altar.
I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
I will offer unto thee burnt
sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats.
Selah.
I will offer You fatlings as burnt offerings, with the
fragrant smoke of rams; I will offer bulls and goats.
Selah They joined themselves also unto
Baal-peor, and
ate the
sacrifices of the dead.
They yoked themselves to
Baal of Peor and
ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.
Yea, they
sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they
sacrificed unto the idols of
Canaan: and the land was
polluted with blood.
They shed innocent blood— the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they
sacrificed to the idols of
Canaan, and the land was
polluted with blood.
I will offer to thee the
sacrifice of
thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
I will offer to You a
sacrifice of
thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
The LORD is God; He has made His light to
shine upon us. Bind the
festal sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
May my prayer be set before You like incense, my
uplifted hands like the evening offering.
The
sacrifice of the wicked is an
abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
The
sacrifice of the wicked is
detestable to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Better a dry
morsel in quietness than a house full of feasting with
strife.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
To do righteousness and justice is more desirable to the LORD than sacrifice.
The
sacrifice of the wicked is
abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
The
sacrifice of the wicked is
detestable— how much more so when brought with ill intent!
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Draw near to
listen rather than to offer the
sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that
sacrificeth, and to him that
sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the
sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
It is the same for all: There is a common fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who
sacrifices and the one who does not. As it is for the good, so it is for the
sinner; as it is for the one who makes a
vow, so it is for the one who refuses to take a
vow.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
“What good to Me is your multitude of sacrifices?” says the LORD. “I am full from the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I take no delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do
sacrifice and
oblation;
yea, they shall
vow a
vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
The LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and on that day Egypt will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with
sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and
fulfill them.
Woe to
Ariel, to
Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill
sacrifices.
Woe to you, O
Ariel, the city of
Ariel where David camped! Year upon year let your festivals
recur.
The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a
sacrifice in
Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of
Idumea.
The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood. It drips with fat— with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a
sacrifice in
Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of
Edom.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy
sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor
wearied thee with incense.
You have not brought Me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored Me with your
sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor
wearied you with
frankincense.
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy
sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast
wearied me with thine
iniquities.
You have not bought Me sweet cane with your silver, nor satisfied Me with the fat of your
sacrifices. But you have burdened Me with your sins; you have
wearied Me with your
iniquities.
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
I will bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar, for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations.”
Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
On a high and lofty hill you have made your bed, and there you went up to offer sacrifices.
A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
to a people who continually
provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in the gardens and burning incense on altars of brick,
He that killeth an ox is as if he
slew a man; he that
sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an
oblation, as if he offered
swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an
idol.
Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Whoever slaughters an ox is like one who slays a man;
whoever sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever presents a grain offering is like one who offers pig’s blood;
whoever offers
frankincense is like one who blesses an
idol. Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their abominations.
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from
Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your
sacrifices sweet unto me.
What use to Me is
frankincense from
Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your
sacrifices do not please Me.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Add your burnt offerings to your other
sacrifices and eat the meat
yourselves!
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
For when I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt, I did not merely command them about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.
And people will come from the cities of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the foothills, the hill country, and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and
sacrifices, grain offerings and
frankincense, and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.
The voice of joy, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the
sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing
thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give
thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity as in former times, says the LORD.
Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to
kindle meat offerings, and to do
sacrifice continually.
nor will the priests who are Levites ever fail to have a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to present sacrifices.”
For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of
vengeance, that he may
avenge him of his
adversaries: and the sword shall
devour, and it shall be
satiate and made
drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a
sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of Hosts, a day of
vengeance against His foes. The sword will
devour until it is satisfied, until it is
quenched with their blood. For the Lord GOD of Hosts will hold a
sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou
sacrificed unto them to be
devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
You even took the sons and daughters you bore to Me and
sacrificed them as food to idols. Was your
prostitution not enough?
And I
polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the
womb, that I might make them
desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.
And I pronounced them unclean through their gifts—the
sacrifice of every
firstborn in the fire—so that I might
devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the LORD.
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their
sacrifices, and there they presented the
provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.
When I brought them into the land that I
swore to give them and they saw any high hill or
leafy tree, there they offered their
sacrifices, presented offerings that
provoked Me, sent up their
fragrant incense, and poured out their drink offerings.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
That they have committed
adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed
adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to
devour them.
For they have committed
adultery, and blood is on their hands. They have committed
adultery with their idols. They have even
sacrificed their children, whom they bore to Me, in the fire as food for their idols.
As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Like the numerous flocks for sacrifices at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so the ruined cities will be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my
sacrifice that I do
sacrifice for you, even a great
sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be
drunken, of my
sacrifice which I have
sacrificed for you.
At the
sacrifice I am preparing, you will eat fat until you are
gorged and drink blood until you are
drunk.
Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables,
whereupon they
slew their
sacrifices.
So there were four tables inside the
gateway and four outside—eight tables in all—on which the
sacrifices were to be slaughtered.
And the four tables were of
hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a
cubit and an half long, and a
cubit and an half broad, and one
cubit high:
whereupon also they laid the instruments
wherewith they
slew the burnt offering and the
sacrifice.
There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt offering, each a
cubit and a half long, a
cubit and a half wide, and a
cubit high. On these were placed the utensils used to slaughter the burnt offerings and the other
sacrifices.
And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings
thereon, and to
sprinkle blood
thereon.
Then He said to me: “Son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘These are the statutes for the altar on the day it is constructed, so that burnt offerings may be
sacrificed on it and blood may be
sprinkled on it:
And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
You must present them before the LORD; the priests are to
sprinkle salt on them and
sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the LORD.
Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall
slay the burnt offering and the
sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and ministering there. They shall slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and stand before them to minister to them.
And the prince shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests
sacrifice his burnt offerings and peace offerings. He is to bow in worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
Then said he unto me, These are the places of them that
boil, where the ministers of the house shall
boil the
sacrifice of the people.
And he said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will
cook the
sacrifices offered by the people.”
Yea, he
magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily
sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
It
magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily
sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary.
