And he said, I will send thee a
kid from the flock. And she said,
Wilt thou give me a
pledge, till thou send it?
“I will send you a young goat from my flock,” Judah answered. But she replied, “Only if you leave me
something as a
pledge until you send it.”
And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
“So where is he?” their father asked. “Why did you leave the man behind?
Invite him to have
something to eat.”
And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
They will fill your houses and the houses of all your officials and every Egyptian—something neither your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen since the day they came into this land.’” Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh’s presence.
Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for
whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
For seven days there must be no
leaven found in your houses. If
anyone eats
something leavened, that person, whether a foreigner or native of the land, must be cut off from the congregation of Israel.
Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell
thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.
Anyone who makes
something like it to enjoy its
fragrance shall be cut off from his people.”
And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of
swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.
“If someone sins by failing to
testify when he hears a public charge about
something he has witnessed, whether he has seen it or learned of it, he shall bear the iniquity.
And upon
whatsoever any of them, when they are dead,
doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or
raiment, or skin, or
sack,
whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be
cleansed.
When one of them dies and falls on
something, that article becomes unclean; any article of wood, clothing, leather,
sackcloth, or any
implement used for work must be
rinsed with water and will remain unclean until evening; then it will be clean.
And he that owneth the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as it were a plague in the house:
the owner of the house shall come and tell the priest, ‘
Something like
mildew has appeared in my house.’
To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of
leprosy.
to determine when
something is clean or unclean. This is the law regarding skin diseases and
mildew.”
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that
appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have
provoked the LORD.
But if the LORD brings about
something unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and
swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into
Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.”
Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
You may collect
something from a foreigner, but you must
forgive whatever your brother owes you.
And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days
expound the
riddle.
So he said to them: “Out of the eater came
something to eat, and out of the strong came
something sweet.” For three days they were unable to explain the
riddle.
And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall
tingle.
Then the LORD said to Samuel, “I am about to do
something in Israel at which the ears of all who hear it will
tingle.
Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought,
Something hath
befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
Saul said nothing that day because he thought, “
Something has happened to David to make him
ceremonially unclean—surely he is unclean.”
And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David
sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
Then all the people came and urged David to eat
something while it was still day, but David took an oath, saying, “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun sets!”
And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make
thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.
Jonadab told him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend you are ill. When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare it in my sight so I may watch her and eat it from her hand.’”
Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.
Then the king said to the woman, “I am going to ask you
something; do not
conceal it from me!” “Let my lord the king speak,” she replied.
He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said, Say on.
Then he said, “I have something to tell you.” “Say it,” she answered.
But Gehazi, the servant of
Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath
spared Naaman this
Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
Gehazi, the servant of
Elisha the man of God, said, “Look, my master has
spared this
Aramean,
Naaman, while not accepting what he brought. As surely as the LORD lives, I will run after him and get
something from him.”
Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
Have I ever said, ‘Give me
something; offer me a
bribe from your wealth;
And he, as a
rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is
moth eaten.
So man wastes away like
something rotten, like a
moth-eaten garment.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to
justify thee.
But if you have
something to say, answer me; speak up, for I would like to
vindicate you.
It is a
snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make
enquiry.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
I saw something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; neither is the bread to the wise, nor the wealth to the intelligent, nor the favor to the skillful. For time and chance happen to all.
Shew the things that are to come
hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods:
yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Tell us the things that are to come, so that we may know that you are gods.
Yes, do
something good or evil, that we may look on together in dismay.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire;
yea, also I have
baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have
roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an
abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
And no one considers in his heart, no one has the knowledge or insight to say, “I burned half of it in the fire, and I
baked bread on its coals; I
roasted meat and I
ate. Shall I make
something detestable with the rest of it? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our
iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Each of us has become like
something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our
iniquities carry us away like the wind.
And they have built the high places of
Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of
Hinnom so they could burn their sons and daughters in the fire—
something I never commanded, nor did it even enter My mind.
They have built also the high places of
Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto
Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
They have built high places to
Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as offerings to
Baal—
something I never commanded or mentioned, nor did it even enter My mind.
Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his
wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
“Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, since
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is
waging war against us. Perhaps the LORD will perform for us
something like all His past wonders, so that
Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”
And they built the high places of
Baal, which are in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto
Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this
abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
They have built the high places of
Baal in the Valley of
Hinnom to make their sons and daughters pass through the fire to
Molech—
something I never commanded them, nor had it ever entered My mind, that they should commit such an
abomination and cause Judah to sin.
Then
Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.
Then King
Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the prophet and received him at the third entrance to the house of the LORD. “I am going to ask you
something,” said the king to Jeremiah. “Do not hide anything from me.”
As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their
detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.
His beautiful ornaments they transformed into pride and used them to fashion their
vile images and
detestable idols. Therefore I will make these into
something unclean for them.
Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to
hang any vessel
thereon?
Can wood be taken from it to make
something useful? Or can one make from it a
peg on which to
hang utensils?
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Finally these men said, “We will never find any charge against this Daniel, unless we find something against him concerning the law of his God.”
I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
Though I wrote for them the great things of My law, they regarded them as something strange.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”
But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”
For I was an
hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
For I was
hungry and you gave Me
something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave Me
something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in,
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, and fed thee? or
thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You
hungry and feed You, or
thirsty and give You
something to drink?
And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
Then Jesus gave strict orders that no one should know about this, and He told them to give her something to eat.
Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and
buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding
countryside and villages and
buy themselves
something to eat.”
He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and
buy two hundred
pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
But Jesus told them, “You give them
something to eat.” They asked Him, “Should we go out and
spend two hundred
denarii to give all of them bread to eat?”
For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”
And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
But Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, Teacher,” he said.
And her spirit came again, and she arose
straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
Her spirit returned, and at once she got up. And He directed that she be given something to eat.
But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five
loaves and two fishes; except we should go and
buy meat for all this people.
But Jesus told them, “You give them
something to eat.” “We have only five
loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered, “unless we go and
buy food for all these people.”
Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch
something out of his mouth, that they might
accuse him.
waiting to catch Him in something He might say.
In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
Meanwhile the disciples urged Him, “
Rabbi, eat
something.”
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop
sinning, or
something worse may happen to you.”
For some of them thought, because
Judas had the
bag, that Jesus had said unto him,
Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give
something to the poor.
Since
Judas kept the money
bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him to
buy what was needed for the feast, or to give
something to the poor.
Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
Jesus replied, “If I said
something wrong,
testify as to what was wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why did you strike Me?”
And he gave
heed unto them, expecting to receive
something of them.
So the man gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight
forthwith, and arose, and was
baptized.
At that instant,
something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and his sight was restored. He got up and was
baptized,
And he became very
hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a
trance,
He became
hungry and wanted
something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a
trance.
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet
knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
He saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
I was in the city of
Joppa praying: and in a
trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
“I was in the city of
Joppa praying, and in a
trance I saw a vision of
something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came right down to me.
For as I passed by, and
beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
For as I walked around and examined your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore what you worship as
something unknown, I now
proclaim to you.
And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
As they were about to take Paul into the
barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say
something to you?” “Do you speak Greek?” he replied.
Now therefore ye with the council
signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.”
So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
So the
centurion took him to the commander and said, “Paul the prisoner sent and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has
something to tell you.”
Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king
Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
I have nothing definite to write to our sovereign one about him. Therefore I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King
Agrippa, so that after this inquiry I may have
something to write.
Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
So for your own preservation, I
urge you to eat
something, because not a single hair of your head will be lost.”
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath
whereof to glory; but not before God.
If Abraham was indeed justified by works, he had
something to
boast about, but not before God.
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
I am
convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. But if
anyone regards
something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.
And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
The one who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.
But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this to suggest that
something be done for me. Indeed, I would rather die than let
anyone nullify my
boast.
And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
If they wish to inquire about something, they are to ask their own husbands at home; for it is dishonorable for a woman to speak in the church.
And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
And what you
sow is not the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or
something else.
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
If
anyone thinks he is
something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Let him that
stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
He who has been
stealing must
steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have
something to share with the one in need.
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not
robbery to be equal with God:
Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God
something to be
grasped,
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
And since every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, it was necessary for this One also to have something to offer.
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
God had
planned something better for us, so that together with us they would be made perfect.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the
fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
Beloved, do not be surprised at the
fiery trial that has come upon you, as though
something strange were happening to you.
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, as clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, covered with eyes in front and back.
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
Then the second angel sounded his
trumpet, and
something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood,
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads, and faces like the faces of men.
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had
gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
And I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, beside which stood those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name. They were holding harps from God,
Yea, moreover, if ye return safe, I will add
something to thy wages.
