Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
“Speak to the Israelites and take from them twelve staffs, one from the leader of each tribe. Write each man’s name on his staff,
And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
and write Aaron’s name on the staff of Levi, because there must be one staff for the head of each tribe.
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod
apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff—one for each of the leaders of their tribes, twelve staffs in all. And Aaron’s staff was among them.

Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.
“The land is to be divided among the tribes as an inheritance, according to the number of names.
To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.
Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one; each tribe is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those registered.
Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the
tribes of their fathers they shall
inherit.
Indeed, the land must be divided by lot; they shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.
According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.
Each inheritance is to be divided by lot among the larger and smaller tribes.”
And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded.
Then Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded:
Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
Send into battle a thousand men from each tribe of Israel.”
So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
So a thousand men were
recruited from each
tribe of Israel—twelve thousand armed for war.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every
tribe, them and
Phinehas the son of
Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the
trumpets to blow in his hand.
And Moses sent the thousand from each
tribe into battle, along with
Phinehas son of
Eleazar the priest, who took with him the vessels of the sanctuary and the
trumpets for signaling.
And
levy a
tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the
beeves, and of the
asses, and of the sheep:
Set aside a
tribute for the LORD from what belongs to the soldiers who went into battle: one out of every five hundred, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, or sheep.
And the LORD’S
tribute of the sheep was six hundred and
threescore and fifteen.
337,500 sheep, including a tribute to the LORD of 675,
And the
beeves were thirty and six thousand; of which the LORD’S
tribute was
threescore and twelve.
36,000 cattle, including a tribute to the LORD of 72,
And the
asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which the LORD’S
tribute was
threescore and one.
30,500
donkeys, including a
tribute to the LORD of 61,
And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the LORD’S tribute was thirty and two persons.
and 16,000 people, including a tribute to the LORD of 32.
And Moses gave the
tribute, which was the LORD’S
heave offering, unto
Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.
Moses gave the
tribute to
Eleazar the priest as an offering for the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
So concerning them Moses commanded
Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of
Nun, and the chief fathers of the
tribes of the children of Israel:
So Moses gave orders about them to
Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of
Nun, and to the family leaders of the
tribes of Israel.
And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of
Gad, and to the children of
Reuben, and unto half the
tribe of
Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the
Amorites, and the kingdom of
Og king of
Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.
So Moses gave to the Gadites, to the Reubenites, and to the half-
tribe of
Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the
Amorites and the kingdom of
Og king of
Bashan—the land including its cities and the territory surrounding them.
And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the
tribes of your fathers ye shall
inherit.
And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.
And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall
inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the nine
tribes, and to the half
tribe:
So Moses commanded the Israelites, “
Apportion this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half
tribes.
For the
tribe of the children of
Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the
tribe of the children of
Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the
tribe of
Manasseh have received their inheritance:
For the
tribes of the Reubenites and Gadites, along with the half-
tribe of
Manasseh, have already received their inheritance.
The two
tribes and the half
tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan near
Jericho eastward, toward the
sunrising.
These two and a half
tribes have received their inheritance across the Jordan from
Jericho, toward the
sunrise.”
And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance.
Appoint one leader from each
tribe to distribute the land.
And the names of the men are these: Of the
tribe of Judah,
Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
These are their names:
Caleb son of Jephunneh from the
tribe of Judah;
