And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the
husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.
And the
husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.
Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.
But when the
husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’
Therefore, when the owner of the
vineyard returns, what will he do to those
tenants?”
They say unto him, He will
miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his
vineyard unto other
husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
“He will bring those wretches to a
wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the
vineyard to other
tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet
tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is
nigh:

lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become
tender and
sprout leaves, you know that summer is near.
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be
likened unto
ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the
bridegroom.
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like
ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the
bridegroom.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents.
And they that fed the
swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
Those
tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and
countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.
And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
When the
ten heard about this, they became
indignant with James and John.
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a
vineyard, and set an
hedge about it, and
digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a
vineyard. He put a wall around it,
dug a wine
vat, and built a
watchtower. Then he rented it out to some
tenants and went away on a journey.
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the
tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the
vineyard.
But those
husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
What shall therefore the lord of the
vineyard do? he will come and destroy the
husbandmen, and will give the
vineyard unto others.
What then will the owner of the
vineyard do? He will come and kill those
tenants, and will give the
vineyard to others.

Through the
tender mercy of our God; whereby the
dayspring from on high hath visited us,
because of the
tender mercy of our God, by which the
Dawn will visit us from on high,
When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can
engage with
ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
Either what woman having
ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece,
doth not light a
candle, and
sweep the house, and seek
diligently till she find it?
Or what woman who has
ten silver coins and loses one of them does not light a lamp,
sweep her house, and search carefully until she finds it?

ten men that were lepers, which stood
afar off:

ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

ten cleansed?” Jesus asked. “Where then are the other nine?
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
Beforehand, he called
ten of his servants and gave them
ten minas. ‘Conduct business with this until I return,’ he said.
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
The first servant came forward and said, ‘Master, your
mina has produced
ten more
minas.’
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
His master replied, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
Then he told those standing by, ‘Take the
mina from him and give it to the one who has
ten minas.’
(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
‘Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a
vineyard, and let it forth to
husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
Then He proceeded to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a
vineyard, rented it out to some
tenants, and went away for a long time.
And at the season he sent a servant to the
husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the
vineyard: but the
husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the
tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the
vineyard. But the
tenants beat the servant and sent him away empty-handed.
But when the
husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
But when the tenants saw the son, they discussed it among themselves and said, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
He shall come and destroy these
husbandmen, and shall give the
vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God
forbid.
He will come and kill those
tenants, and will give the
vineyard to others.” And when the people heard this, they said, “May such a thing never happen!”
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
“Come and see,” He replied. So they went and saw where He was staying, and spent that day with Him. It was about the tenth hour.
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,
And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
and he stayed and worked with them because they were tentmakers by trade, just as he was.
And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and
horsemen threescore and
ten, and
spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
Then he called two of his centurions and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy
horsemen, and two hundred
spearmen to go to Caesarea in the third hour of the night.
And when he had
tarried among them more than
ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
After
spending no more than eight or
ten days with them,
Festus went down to Caesarea. The next day he sat on the judgment seat and ordered that Paul be brought in.
For though ye have
ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have
begotten you through the gospel.
Even if you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a
vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a
vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Who
tends a flock and does not drink of its milk?
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
But in the church, I would rather speak five
coherent words to
instruct others than
ten thousand words in a tongue.
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Now we know that if the earthly
tent we live in is
dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
For in this we
groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
For in this
tent we
groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,
For we that are in this tabernacle do
groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be
swallowed up of life.
So while we are in this
tent, we
groan under our burdens, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed, so that our mortality may be
swallowed up by life.
And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath
forgiven you.
Be kind and
tenderhearted to one another,
forgiving each other just as in Christ God
forgave you.
For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh
oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
For land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is tended receives the blessing of God.
To whom also Abraham gave a
tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of
Salem, which is, King of peace;
and Abraham
apportioned to him a
tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness.” Then also, “king of
Salem” means “king of peace.”
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
Consider how great
Melchizedek was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a
tenth of the
plunder.
And
verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take
tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
Now the law commands the sons of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers—though they too are descended from Abraham.
But he whose descent is not counted from them received
tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
But
Melchizedek, who did not trace his descent from Levi, collected a
tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.
And here men that die receive
tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, payed
tithes in Abraham.
And so to speak, Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham.
By faith he
sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
By faith he dwelt in the promised land as a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.
Behold, we count them happy which
endure. Ye have heard of the
patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very
pitiful, and of
tender mercy.
See how blessed we consider those who have
persevered. You have heard of Job’s
perseverance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is full of
compassion and mercy.
Finally, all of you, be like-minded and
sympathetic, love as brothers, be
tenderhearted and humble.
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to
stir you up by putting you in
remembrance;
I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body,
Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
because I know that this tent will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam,
prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with
ten thousands of his saints,
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also
prophesied about them: “Behold, the Lord is coming with myriads of His holy ones
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have
tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer
tribulation for
ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
And I
beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was
ten thousand times
ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels and living creatures and elders
encircling the throne, and their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands.
And the same hour was there a great
earthquake, and the
tenth part of the city fell, and in the
earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the
remnant were
affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
And in that hour there was a great
earthquake, and a
tenth of the city
collapsed. Seven thousand were killed in the
quake, and the rest were
terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red
dragon, having seven heads and
ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red
dragon with seven heads,
ten horns, and seven royal crowns on his heads.
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and
ten horns, and upon his horns
ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of
blasphemy.
Then I saw a beast with
ten horns and seven heads rising out of the sea. There were
ten royal crowns on its horns and
blasphemous names on its heads.
So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and
ten horns.
And the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, where I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with
blasphemous names and had seven heads and
ten horns.
And the angel said unto me, Wherefore
didst thou
marvel? I will tell thee the
mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and
ten horns.
“Why are you so
amazed?” said the angel. “I will tell you the
mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and
ten horns.
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but will receive one hour of authority as kings, along with the beast.
And the
ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall
hate the
whore, and shall make her
desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
And the
ten horns and the beast that you saw will
hate the
prostitute. They will leave her
desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
And reigned but three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and did evil before the Lord.
And this was the number of them; A thousand golden cups, and a thousand of silver, censers of silver twenty nine, vials of gold thirty, and of silver two thousand four hundred and ten, and a thousand other vessels.
And other ten talents yearly, to maintain the burnt offerings upon the altar every day, as they had a commandment to offer seventeen:
Of the sons of Saphatias, Zaraias son of Michael, and with him
threescore and
ten men:
Of the sons of Astath,
Johannes son of Acatan, and with him an hundred and
ten men:
And these I gathered together to the river called Theras, where we pitched our tents three days: and then I surveyed them.
Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Esebrias, and Assanias, and ten men of their brethren with them:
And
Esdras the priest chose unto him the principal men of their families, all by name: and in the first day of the
tenth month they sat together to examine the matter.
And he said unto me, Ask the
womb of a woman, and say unto her, If thou bringest forth children, why
dost thou it not together, but one after another? pray her therefore to bring forth
ten children at once.
And he pardoneth; for if he did not so of his goodness, that they which have committed
iniquities might be eased of them, the
ten thousandth part of men should not remain living.
Those are the
ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the king, whom Salmanasar the king of Assyria led away
captive, and he carried them over the waters, and so came they into another land.
For the world is divided into twelve parts, and the ten parts of it are gone already, and half of a tenth part:
And there remaineth that which is after the half of the tenth part.
For of a city there shall be ten left, and two of the field, which shall hide themselves in the thick groves, and in the clefts of the rocks.
But I alone went often to Jerusalem at the feasts, as it was ordained unto all the people of Israel by an
everlasting decree, having the firstfruits and
tenths of increase, with that which was first
shorn; and them gave I at the altar to the priests the children of Aaron.
The first tenth part of all increase I gave to the sons of Aaron, who ministered at Jerusalem: another tenth part I sold away, and went, and spent it every year at Jerusalem:
And I went into Media, and left in trust with Gabael, the brother of Gabrias, at Rages a city of Media ten talents of silver.
And now I
signify this to they that I committed
ten talents to Gabael the son of Gabrias at Rages in Media.
Then
Tobit said, Thou art
welcome, brother; be not now
angry with me, because I have enquired to know thy tribe and thy family; for thou art my brother, of an
honest and good stock: for I know
Ananias and Jonathas, sons of that great Samaias, as we went together to Jerusalem to worship, and offered the
firstborn, and the
tenths of the fruits; and they were not
seduced with the error of our brethren: my brother, thou art of a good stock.
Behold, our houses, and all our places, and all our fields of wheat, and flocks, and herds, and all the lodges of our tents lie before thy face; use them as it pleaseth thee.
And when Achior had finished these sayings, all the people standing round about the
tent murmured, and the chief men of Holofernes, and all that dwelt by the sea side, and in Moab, spake that he should kill him.
Then Holofernes commanded his servants, that waited in his tent, to take Achior, and bring him to Bethulia, and deliver him into the hands of the children of Israel.
Then the children of
Esau went up with the children of
Ammon, and camped in the hill country over against Dothaim: and they sent some of them toward the south, and toward the east over against Ekrebel, which is near unto Chusi, that is upon the
brook Mochmur; and the rest of the army of the Assyrians camped in the plain, and covered the face of the whole land; and their
tents and carriages were pitched to a very great multitude.
And she made her a
tent upon the top of her house, and put on
sackcloth upon her loins and ware her widow’s
apparel.
So they returned from the tent, and went to their wards.
Thou hast saved thy life, in that thou hast hasted to come down to the presence of our lord: now therefore come to his tent, and some of us shall conduct thee, until they have delivered thee to his hands.
Then they chose out of them an hundred men to
accompany her and her
maid; and they brought her to the
tent of Holofernes.
Then was there a
concourse throughout all the camp: for her coming was noised among the
tents, and they came about her, as she stood without the
tent of Holofernes, till they told him of her.
And they that lay near Holofernes went out, and all his servants and they brought her into the tent.
So they shewed him of her; and he came out before his tent with silver lamps going before him.
And are resolved to
spend the firstfruits of the
tenths of wine and oil, which they had
sanctified, and reserved for the priests that serve in Jerusalem before the face of our God; the which things it is not lawful for any of the people so much as to touch with their hands.
Then the servants of Holofernes brought her into the
tent, and she
slept till
midnight, and she arose when it was toward the morning watch,
So she came in clean, and remained in the tent, until she did eat her meat at evening.
