Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in
travail, and the
anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of
Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying,
Woe is me now! for my soul is
wearied because of murderers.
For I hear a cry like a woman in labor, a cry of
anguish like one bearing her first child— the cry of the Daughter of
Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands to say, “
Woe is me, for my soul
faints before the murderers!”
Therefore I am full of the
fury of the LORD; I am
weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
But I am full of the LORD’s wrath; I am
tired of holding it back. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be captured, the old and the very old alike.
And they will
deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and
weary themselves to commit iniquity.
Each one betrays his friend; no one tells the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they
wear themselves out
committing iniquity.
If thou hast run with the
footmen, and they have
wearied thee, then how canst thou
contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they
wearied thee, then how
wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
“If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you
compete with horses? If you
stumble in a peaceful land, how will you do in the thickets of the Jordan?
Take the
girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
“Take the loincloth that you bought and are
wearing, and go at once to Perath and hide it there in a
crevice of the rocks.”
Thou hast
forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am
weary with
repenting.
You have
forsaken Me, declares the LORD. You have turned your back. So I will stretch out My hand against you and I will destroy you; I am
weary of showing
compassion.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was
weary with
forbearing, and I could not stay.
If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become
weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be
weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
Then you are to say, ‘In the same way Babylon will sink and never rise again, because of the
disaster I will bring upon her. And her people will grow
weary.’” Here end the words of Jeremiah.
Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.
We are closely pursued; we are
weary and find no rest.
Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in
dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of
Chaldea, the land of their
nativity:
wearing belts on their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like officers of the Babylonians in
Chaldea, the land of their birth.
She hath
wearied herself with lies, and her great
scum went not forth out of her: her
scum shall be in the fire.
It has
frustrated every effort; its thick
rust has not been removed, even by the fire.
Ye eat the fat, and ye
clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.
You eat the fat,
wear the wool, and
butcher the
fattened sheep, but you do not feed the flock.
And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within.
When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen garments; they must not wear anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple.
They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen
breeches upon their loins; they shall not
gird themselves with any thing that causeth
sweat.
They are to
wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists. They must not
wear anything that makes them
perspire.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up,
wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
And I will turn your feasts into
mourning, and all your songs into
lamentation; and I will bring up
sackcloth upon all loins, and
baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the
mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I
wearied thee?
testify against me.
‘My people, what have I done to you?
Testify against Me how I have
wearied you!
Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall
weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not indeed from the LORD of Hosts that the labor of the people only feeds the fire, and the nations
weary themselves in vain?
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be
ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath
prophesied; neither shall they
wear a rough garment to
deceive:
And on that day every prophet who prophesies will be
ashamed of his vision, and he will not put on a
hairy cloak in order to
deceive.
Ye said also, Behold, what a
weariness is it! and ye have
snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was
torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
You also say: ‘Oh, what a
nuisance!’ And you turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring offerings that are
stolen,
lame, or sick! Should I accept these from your hands?” asks the LORD.
Ye have
wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we
wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
You have
wearied the LORD with your words; yet you ask, “How have we
wearied Him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the sight of the LORD, and in them He delights,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than
raiment?
Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will
wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Therefore do not
worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we
wear?’
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? behold, they that
wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
Come to Me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft
raiment? Behold, they which are
gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings courts.
Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who
wear elegant clothing and live in
luxury are found in palaces.
And when the day began to
wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and
lodge, and get
victuals: for we are here in a desert place.
As the day neared its end, the Twelve came to Jesus and said, “Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding villages and
countryside for
lodging and provisions. For we are in a
desolate place here.”
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will
wear.
Sell that ye have, and give
alms; provide
yourselves bags which wax not old, a
treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no
thief approacheth, neither
moth corrupteth.
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will
avenge her, lest by her continual coming she
weary me.
yet because this widow keeps
pestering me, I will give her justice. Then she will stop
wearing me out with her perpetual requests.’”
Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being
wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
Since Jacob’s well was there, Jesus,
weary from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Then came Jesus forth,
wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple
robe. And
Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
When Jesus came out
wearing the crown of thorns and the purple
robe,
Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”
In
weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and
thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
in labor and
toil and often without sleep, in hunger and
thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure.
And let us not be
weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we
faint not.
Let us not grow
weary in well-doing, for in due time we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up.
But ye, brethren, be not
weary in well doing.
But as for you, brothers, do not grow
weary in well-doing.
They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as
doth a garment;
They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
Consider Him who
endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly
apparel, and there come in also a poor man in
vile raiment;
Suppose a man comes into your meeting
wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in
shabby clothes also comes in.
And ye have respect to him that
weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my
footstool:
If you
lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,” but say to the poor man, “You must stand” or “Sit at my feet,”
And hast borne, and hast
patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not
fainted.
After this I
beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.
And to her was granted that she should be
arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
She was given clothing of fine linen, bright and pure.” For the fine linen she wears is the righteous acts of the saints.
They shall have the tree of life for an
ointment of sweet savour; they shall neither labour, nor be
weary.
Be not
weary: for when the day of trouble and
heaviness cometh, others shall
weep and be sorrowful, but thou shalt be
merry and have abundance.
And he said unto me, Thou canst not. And I said, Wherefore, Lord?
whereunto was I born then? or why was not my mother’s
womb then my grave, that I might not have seen the
travail of Jacob, and the
wearisome toil of the stock of Israel?
Lo, yet am I
weary in my mind, and very weak in my spirit; and little strength is there in me, for the great fear
wherewith I was
afflicted this night.
Now when the evening was come, his servants made
haste to depart, and Bagoas shut his tent without, and dismissed the waiters from the presence of his lord; and they went to their beds: for they were all
weary, because the feast had been long.
Thou knowest my necessity: for I
abhor the sign of my high estate, which is upon mine head in the days wherein I
shew myself, and that I
abhor it as a
menstruous rag, and that I
wear it not when I am private by myself.
When it is present, men take example at it; and when it is gone, they desire it: it
weareth a crown, and triumpheth for ever, having
gotten the victory,
striving for
undefiled rewards.
We
wearied ourselves in the way of wickedness and destruction:
yea, we have gone through deserts, where there lay no way: but as for the way of the Lord, we have not known it.
And if thou seest a man of understanding, get thee
betimes unto him, and let thy foot
wear the steps of his door.

token of a heart that is in prosperity; and the finding out of parables is a
wearisome labour of the mind.

garnished his works for ever, and in his hand are the chief of them unto all generations: they neither labour, nor are
weary, nor cease from their works.
From him that
weareth purple and a crown, unto him that is clothed with a linen
frock.
When ye
glorify the Lord,
exalt him as much as ye can; for even yet will he far exceed: and when ye
exalt him, put forth all your strength, and be not
weary; for ye can never go far enough.

wear a golden
buckle.
Beside this, that he should be obeyed of every man, and that all the writings in the country should be made in his name, and that he should be clothed in purple, and wear gold:
Also that it should be lawful for none of the people or priests to break any of these things, or to
gainsay his words, or to gather an assembly in the country without him, or to be clothed in purple, or
wear a
buckle of gold;
For he built
gladly a place of exercise under the tower itself, and brought the chief young men under his subjection, and made them
wear a
hat.
Now when they that were with
Gorgias had fought long, and were
weary,
Judas called upon the Lord, that he would
shew himself to be their helper and leader of the battle.
