Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of
Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of
Goshen.
So Joseph went and told Pharaoh: “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all they own, have come from the land of
Canaan and are now in
Goshen.”
They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to
sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is
sore in the land of
Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of
Goshen.
Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the famine in the land of
Canaan has been severe. So now, please allow your servants to settle in the land of
Goshen.”
And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very
sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of
Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
There was no food, however, in all that region, because the famine was so severe; the lands of Egypt and
Canaan had been exhausted by the famine.
And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of
Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

Canaan in exchange for the grain they were
buying, and he brought it into Pharaoh’s palace.
And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of
Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
When the money from the lands of Egypt and
Canaan was gone, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our funds have run out!”
When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We
cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our
livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.

And as for me, when I came from Padan,
Rachel died by me in the land of
Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto
Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of
Ephrath; the same is
Bethlehem.
Now as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow
Rachel died along the way in the land of
Canaan, some distance from
Ephrath. So I buried her there beside the road to
Ephrath” (that is,
Bethlehem).
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather
yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall
befall you in the last days.
Then Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather around so that I can tell you what will happen to you in the days to come:
In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before
Mamre, in the land of
Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
The cave is in the field of Machpelah near
Mamre, in the land of
Canaan. This is the field Abraham purchased from Ephron the Hittite as a burial site.
My father made me
swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
digged for me in the land of
Canaan, there shalt thou
bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and
bury my father, and I will come again.
my father made me
swear an oath when he said, ‘I am about to die. You must
bury me in the tomb that I
dug for myself in the land of
Canaan.’ Now let me go and
bury my father, and then return.”
For his sons carried him into the land of
Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before
Mamre.
They carried him to the land of
Canaan and buried him in the cave at Machpelah in the field near
Mamre, which Abraham had purchased from Ephron the Hittite as a burial site.
And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites.
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the
Levite thy brother? I know that he
can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he
seeth thee, he will be
glad in his heart.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is not Aaron the
Levite your brother? I know that he
can speak well, and he is now on his way to meet you. When he sees you, he will be
glad in his heart.
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand,
wherewith thou shalt do signs.
But take this staff in your hand so you can perform signs with it.”
Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
Go and get your own straw wherever you can find it; but your workload will in no way be reduced.’”
And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of
Canaan, the land of their
pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
I also established My covenant with them to give them the land of
Canaan, the land where they lived as foreigners.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers and
canals and ponds, and cause the frogs to come up
onto the land of Egypt.’”
And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one
cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the
hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
They will cover the face of the land so that no one
can see it. They will
devour whatever is left after the
hail and eat every tree that grows in your fields.
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he
sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
And when the LORD brings you into the land of the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Amorites,
Hivites, and Jebusites—the land He
swore to your fathers that He would give you, a land flowing with milk and honey—you shall keep this service in this month.
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the
Canaanites, as he
sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
And after the LORD brings you into the land of the
Canaanites and gives it to you, as He
swore to you and your fathers,
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
And as for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
Then the dukes of
Edom shall be
amazed; the mighty men of Moab,
trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of
Canaan shall
melt away.
Then the chiefs of
Edom will be dismayed;
trembling will seize the leaders of Moab; those who dwell in
Canaan will
melt away,
And the children of Israel did eat
manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat
manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of
Canaan.
The Israelites
ate manna forty years, until they came to a land where they could settle; they
ate manna until they reached the border of

Thou
wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it
thyself alone.
Surely you and these people with you will wear
yourselves out, because the task is too heavy for you. You
cannot handle it alone.
And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for
thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
Have these men judge the people at all times. Then they
can bring you any major issue, but all minor cases they
can judge on their own, so that your load may be
lightened as they share it with you.
If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to
endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
If you follow this advice and God so directs you, then you will be able to
endure, and all these people
can go home in peace.”
And Moses said unto the LORD, The people
cannot come up to mount
Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and
sanctify it.
But Moses said to the LORD, “The people
cannot come up Mount
Sinai, for You solemnly
warned us, ‘Put a boundary around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’”
If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that
smote him be
quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly
healed.

can get up and walk around outside with his staff. Nevertheless, he must
compensate the man for his lost work and see that he is completely
healed.
And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the
Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.
And he said unto the elders,
Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you.
Whoever has a dispute
can go to them.”
And thou shalt make a
candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the
candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his
bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.
Then you are to make a lampstand of pure, hammered gold. It shall be made of one piece, including its base and shaft, its cups, and its buds and petals.
And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the
candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the
candlestick out of the other side:
Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other.
Three
bowls made like unto almonds, with a
knop and a flower in one branch; and three
bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a
knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the

There are to be three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extend from the lampstand.
And in the
candlestick shall be four
bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers.
And on the lampstand there shall be four cups shaped like
almond blossoms with buds and petals.
And there shall be a
knop under two branches of the same, and a
knop under two branches of the same, and a
knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the
candlestick.
For the six branches that extend from the lampstand, a
bud must be under the first pair of branches, a
bud under the second pair, and a
bud under the third pair.
And thou shalt set the table without the
vail, and the
candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.
And place the table outside the
veil on the north side of the tabernacle, and put the lampstand opposite the table, on the south side.
It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together.
It shall have two shoulder pieces attached at two of its corners, so it can be fastened.
And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be
anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
The holy garments that belong to Aaron will belong to his sons after him, so they
can be
anointed and ordained in them.

myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet
cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet
calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

the table with its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense,
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have
sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD;
peradventure I shall make an
atonement for your sin.
The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin. Now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I
can make
atonement for your sin.”
And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the
Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight, unless You go with us? How else will we be distinguished from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
But He added, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”
Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the
Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
The
candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light,
the lampstand for light with its
accessories and lamps and oil for the light;
And he made the
candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the
candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his
bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:
Then he made the lampstand out of pure hammered gold, all of one piece: its base and shaft, its cups, and its buds and petals.

candlestick out of the other side thereof:

Three
bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a
knop and a flower; and three
bowls made like almonds in another branch, a
knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the
candlestick.
There were three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extended from the lampstand.
And in the
candlestick were four
bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:
And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like
almond blossoms with buds and petals.
The pure
candlestick, with the lamps thereof, even with the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and the oil for light,
the pure gold lampstand with its row of lamps and all its utensils, as well as the oil for the light;
And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the
candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.
Then bring in the table and set out its arrangement; bring in the lampstand as well, and set up its lamps.
And he put the
candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
He also placed the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle
And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make
atonement for him.
He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, so it
can be accepted on his behalf to make
atonement for him.
And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his
trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
If, however, he
cannot afford a lamb, he may bring to the LORD as
restitution for his sin two turtledoves or two young pigeons—one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that
sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an
ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any
frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.
But if he
cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he may bring a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour as a sin offering. He must not put olive oil or
frankincense on it, because it is a sin offering.
And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an
atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
But if she
cannot afford a lamb, she shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. Then the priest will make
atonement for her, and she will be clean.’”
And if a
leprosy break out abroad in the skin, and the
leprosy cover all the skin of him that hath the plague from his head even to his foot,
wheresoever the priest looketh;
But if the skin disease breaks out all over his skin so that it covers all the skin of the
infected person from head to foot, as far as the priest
can see,
And if he be poor, and
cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a
trespass offering to be waved, to make an
atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;
If, however, the person is poor and
cannot afford these offerings, he is to take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved to make
atonement for him, along with a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of olive oil,
And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.
and two turtledoves or two young pigeons,
whichever he
can afford, one to be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.
And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he can get;
Then he must sacrifice the turtledoves or young pigeons,
whichever he
can afford,
This is the law of him in whom is the plague of
leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which pertaineth to his
cleansing.
This is the law for someone who has a skin disease and
cannot afford the cost of his
cleansing.”
When ye be come into the land of
Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of
leprosy in a house of the land of your possession;
“When you enter the land of
Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a
contamination of
mildew into a house in that land,
After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of
Canaan,
whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
You must not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not follow the practices of the land of
Canaan, into which I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs.
He shall order the lamps upon the pure
candlestick before the LORD continually.
He shall tend the lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD continually.
And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
Then the land will yield its fruit, so that you can eat your fill and dwell in safety in the land.
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
But if he
cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the
buyer until the Year of
Jubilee. In the
Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to his property.
And if thy brother be
waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt
relieve him:
yea, though he be a stranger, or a
sojourner; that he may live with thee.
Now if your
countryman becomes destitute and
cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a foreigner or stranger, so that he
can continue to live among you.
I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of
Canaan, and to be your God.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of
Canaan and to be your God.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you
can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.
But if he be poorer than thy
estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that
vowed shall the priest value him.
But if the one making the
vow is too poor to pay the
valuation, he is to present the person before the priest, who shall set the value according to what the one making the
vow can afford.
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall
devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
Nothing that a man sets apart to the LORD from all he owns—whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land—can be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the LORD.
He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.
He must not
inspect whether it is good or bad, and he shall not make any substitution. But if he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute shall become holy; they
cannot be redeemed.’”
From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—
everyone who
can serve in Israel’s army.
And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the
candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary
wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.
Their duties were the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the articles of the sanctuary used with them, and the
curtain—all the service for these items.
And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the
candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his
tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof,
wherewith they minister unto it:
They are to take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand used for light, together with its lamps,
wick trimmers, and
trays, as well as the jars of oil with which to supply it.
But if the man has no relative to whom
restitution can be made for the wrong, the
restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of
atonement, by which the
atonement is made for him.
This is the law of the
Nazarite who hath
vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the
vow which he
vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
This is the law of the
Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD for his separation, in addition to whatever else he
can afford; he must
fulfill whatever
vow he makes, according to the law of his separation.”
Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the
candlestick.
“Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the
candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And this work of the
candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the
candlestick.
This is how the lampstand was constructed: it was made of hammered gold from its base to its blossoms, fashioned according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses.
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they
weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
Where can I get meat for all these people? For they keep crying out to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
I
cannot carry all these people by myself; it is too
burdensome for me.
Send thou men, that they may search the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
“Send out for
yourself men to
spy out the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”
And Moses sent them to
spy out the land of
Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
When Moses sent them to
spy out the land of
Canaan, he told them, “Go up through the Negev and into the hill country.
The
Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the
Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the
Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the
Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
And
Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Then
Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we
can certainly
conquer it!”
But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
But the men who had gone up with him replied, “We cannot go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are!”
(Now the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To
morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
Now since the
Amalekites and
Canaanites are living in the valleys, turn back
tomorrow and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”
For the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.
For there the
Amalekites and
Canaanites will face you, and you will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He will not be with you.”
Then the
Amalekites and
Canaanites who lived in that part of the hill country came down, attacked them, and routed them all the way to Hormah.
And when king
Arad the
Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the
spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
When the
Canaanite king of
Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked Israel and captured some prisoners.
