Alexander the
coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
Alexander the
coppersmith did great
harm to me. The Lord will repay him according to his
deeds.
Who gave himself for us, that he might
redeem us from all iniquity, and
purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
He saved us, not by the righteous
deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and
renewal by the Holy Spirit.
This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou
affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
This saying is
trustworthy. And I want you to
emphasize these things, so that those who have believed God will take care to
devote themselves to good
deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for the people.
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it.
And let us consider one another to
provoke unto love and to good works:
And let us consider how to
spur one another on to love and good
deeds.
But
whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a
forgetful hearer, but a
doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his
deed.
But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom, and continues to do so—not being a
forgetful hearer, but an effective
doer—he will be blessed in what he does.
What
doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will
shew thee my faith by my works.
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
But
wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
O
foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without
deeds is worthless?
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
As you can see, a man is justified by his deeds and not by faith alone.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Who is a wise man and
endued with knowledge among you? let him
shew out of a good conversation his works with
meekness of wisdom.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by
deeds done in the
humility that comes from wisdom.
Seeing ye have
purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
fervently:
Since you have
purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another
deeply, from a pure heart.
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your good
deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
And above all things have
fervent charity among
yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
For if God
spared not the angels that
sinned, but cast them down to
hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
For if God did not
spare the angels when they
sinned, but cast them
deep into
hell, placing them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing,
vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful
deeds;)
(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was
tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless
deeds he saw and heard)—
Not as
Cain, who was of that wicked one, and
slew his brother. And wherefore
slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
Do not be like
Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did
Cain slay him? Because his own
deeds were evil, while those of his brother were righteous.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.
For he that biddeth him God speed is
partaker of his evil
deeds.
Whoever greets such a person shares in his evil
deeds.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his
deeds which he doeth,
prating against us with
malicious words: and not content
therewith, neither
doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
So if I come, I will call attention to his
malicious slander against us. And unsatisfied with that, he refuses to
welcome the brothers and forbids those who want to do so, even putting them out of the church.
To
execute judgment upon all, and to
convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly
deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
to
execute judgment on
everyone, and to
convict all the ungodly of every ungodly act of wickedness and every harsh word spoken against Him by ungodly sinners.”
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy
patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
I know your
deeds, your labor, and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles.
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and
repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy
candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.
Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen.
Repent and perform the
deeds you did at first. But if you do not
repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the
deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also
hate.
I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy
patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
I know your
deeds—your love, your faith, your service, your
perseverance—and your latter
deeds are greater than your first.
Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit
adultery with her into great
tribulation, except they
repent of their
deeds.
Behold, I will cast her
onto a bed of sickness, and those who commit
adultery with her will suffer great
tribulation unless they
repent of her
deeds.
And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the
reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
But unto you I say, and unto the rest in
Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of
Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
But I say to the rest of you in
Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned the so-called
deep things of
Satan: I will place no further burden upon you.
And unto the angel of the church in
Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
“To the angel of the church in
Sardis write: These are the words of the One who holds the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your
deeds; you have a reputation for being alive, yet you are dead.
Be watchful, and
strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Wake up and
strengthen what remains, which was about to die; for I have found your
deeds incomplete in the sight of My God.
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door, which no one can shut. For you have only a little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou
wert cold or hot.
I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other!
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead—those who die in the Lord from this moment on.” “
Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their
deeds will follow them.”
And
blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and
repented not of their
deeds.
and
curse the God of heaven for their pains and sores; yet they did not
repent of their
deeds.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and
hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds.
Go thy way, and
shew my people their sinful
deeds, and their children their wickedness which they have done against me; that they may tell their children’s children:
Are their
deeds then any better that inhabit Babylon, that they should therefore have the dominion over
Sion?
And he said unto me, If I should ask thee how great dwellings are in the midst of the sea, or how many springs are in the beginning of the
deep, or how many springs are above the
firmament, or which are the outgoings of
paradise:
Peradventure thou wouldest say unto me, I never went down into the
deep, nor as yet into
hell, neither did I ever
climb up into heaven.
And I said, Speak on, my God. Then said he unto me, The sea is set in a wide place, that it might be deep and great.
The entrance thereof is narrow, and is set in a dangerous place to fall, like as if there were a fire on the right hand, and on the left a deep water:
And
deceived themselves by their wicked
deeds; and said of the most High, that he is not; and knew not his ways:
And the work shall follow, and the reward shall be shewed, and the good deeds shall be of force, and wicked deeds shall bear no rule.
Take thou no
indignation at them which are
deemed worse than beasts; but love them that always put their trust in thy righteousness and glory.
For the just, which have many good works laid up with thee, shall out of their own deeds receive reward.
And he said unto me, Like as thou canst neither seek out nor know the things that are in the deep of the sea: even so can no man upon earth see my Son, or those that be with him, but in the day time.
The earth quaketh, and the foundations thereof; the sea ariseth up with waves from the deep, and the waves of it are troubled, and the fishes thereof also, before the Lord, and before the glory of his power:
He searcheth the deep, and the treasures thereof; he hath measured the sea, and what it containeth.
But she replied upon me, It was given for a gift more than the wages.
Howbeit I did not believe her, but
bade her render it to the owners: and I was
abashed at her. But she replied upon me, Where are thine
alms and thy righteous
deeds? behold, thou and all thy works are known.
And when thou
didst not delay to rise up, and leave thy
dinner, to go and cover the dead, thy good
deed was not
hid from me: but I was with thee.
For
inquisition shall be made into the counsels of the ungodly: and the sound of his words shall come unto the Lord for the
manifestation of his wicked
deeds.
But the multiplying
brood of the ungodly shall not
thrive, nor take
deep rooting from
bastard slips, nor lay any fast foundation.
But she
drowned their enemies, and cast them up out of the bottom of the
deep.
But
deemed either fire, or wind, or the swift air, or the circle of the stars, or the violent water, or the lights of heaven, to be the gods which
govern the world.
For they were
pricked, that they should remember thy words; and were quickly saved, that not falling into
deep forgetfulness, they might be continually mindful of thy goodness.
Who can find out the height of heaven, and the breadth of the earth, and the deep, and wisdom?
Honour thy father and mother both in word and deed, that a blessing may come upon thee from them.
Be not
hasty in thy tongue, and in thy
deeds slack and remiss.
The
affliction of an hour maketh a man
forget pleasure: and in his end his
deeds shall be discovered.
Behold, the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, the deep, and the earth, and all that therein is, shall be moved when he shall visit.
None of their unrighteous
deeds are
hid from him, but all their sins are before the Lord
The
alms of a man is as a
signet with him, and he will keep the good
deeds of man as the apple of the eye, and give
repentance to his sons and daughters.
My son,
blemish not thy good
deeds, neither use uncomfortable words when thou givest any thing.

fool saith, I have no friends, I have no
thank for all my good
deeds, and they that eat my bread speak evil of me.

Till he have rendered to every man according to his
deeds, and to the works of men according to their devices; till he have judged the cause of his people, and made them to
rejoice in his mercy.
He seeketh out the
deep, and the heart, and considereth their
crafty devices: for the Lord knoweth all that may be known, and he beholdeth the signs of the world.
By his counsel he appeaseth the deep, and planteth islands therein.
O Elias, how
wast thou honoured in thy
wondrous deeds! and who may glory like unto thee!
And return from their stiff neck, and from their wicked
deeds: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, which
sinned before the Lord.

Joseph the son of
Zacharias, and Azarias, captains of the garrisons, heard of the
valiant acts and warlike
deeds which they had done.
As concerning the rest of the acts of John, and his wars, and worthy deeds which he did, and the building of the walls which he made, and his doings,
Wherefore even they of Tyrus, moved with hatred of that wicked deed, caused them to be honourably buried.
The men of
Joppa also did such an ungodly
deed: they prayed the Jews that dwelt among them to go with their wives and children into the boats which they had prepared, as though they had meant them no
hurt.
Who accepted of it according to the common decree of the city, as being
desirous to live in peace, and
suspecting nothing: but when they were gone forth into the
deep, they
drowned no less than two hundred of them.
