And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
For I have chosen him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has promised.”
And hast not suffered me to
kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done
foolishly in so
doing.
But you did not even let me
kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye. Now you have done a
foolish thing.
Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.
Is this not the cup my master drinks from and uses for
divination? What you have done is wicked!’”
Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in
holiness, fearful in praises,
doing wonders?
Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You—
majestic in
holiness,
revered with praises, performing wonders?
And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou
thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
When his father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone as judge, with all the people standing around you from morning till evening?”
And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.
But Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good.
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from
doing harm to Your people.
And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
And the LORD said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will perform wonders that have never been done in any nation in all the world. All the people among whom you live will see the LORD’s work, for it is an
awesome thing that I am
doing with you.
And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;
so that all the skilled
craftsmen who were
doing all the work on the sanctuary left their work
And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.
and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the LORD has commanded us to do.”
And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be
hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
Now if the whole congregation of Israel strays
unintentionally and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly so that they
violate any of the LORD’s commandments and
incur guilt by
doing what is forbidden,
After the
doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the
doings of the land of
Canaan,
whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
You must not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not follow the practices of the land of
Canaan, into which I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs.
And Moses said,
Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things, for it was not my own doing:
And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come
nigh unto you.
They are to join you and attend to the duties of the Tent of Meeting, doing all the work at the Tent; but no outsider may come near you.
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
“We will stay on the main road,” the Israelites replied, “and if we or our herds drink your water, we will pay for it. There will be no problem; only let us pass through on foot.”
When thou shalt
beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt
yourselves, and make a
graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to
provoke him to anger:
After you have children and grandchildren and you have been in the land a long time, if you then act corruptly and make an
idol of any form—
doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God and
provoking Him to anger—
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in
doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in
doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man
whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
You are not to do as we are
doing here
today, where
everyone does what seems right in his own eyes.
Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
Do not eat it, so that it may go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD.
Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.
Be careful to obey all these things I command you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God.
When thou shalt
hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all His commandments I am giving you
today and
doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD your God.
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in
transgressing his covenant,
If a man or woman among you in one of the towns that the LORD your God gives you is found
doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God by
transgressing His covenant
The LORD shall send upon thee
cursing,
vexation, and
rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy
doings, whereby thou hast
forsaken me.
The LORD will send curses upon you, confusion and reproof in all to which you put your hand, until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the wickedness you have committed in
forsaking Him.
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken
Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to
Jericho and her king, so he had done to
Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured
Ai and devoted it to destruction—
doing to
Ai and its king as he had done to
Jericho and its king—and that the people of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living near them.
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own
doings, nor from their
stubborn way.
But when the judge died, the Israelites became even more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods to serve them and bow down to them. They would not give up their evil practices and
stubborn ways.
And
Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more
blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
When they were by the house of
Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the
Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee
hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?
And while they were near
Micah’s house, they recognized the voice of the young
Levite; so they went over and asked him, “Who brought you here? What are you
doing in this place? Why are you here?”
And these went into
Micah’s house, and
fetched the carved image, the
ephod, and the
teraphim, and the
molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?
When they entered
Micah’s house and took the
graven image, the
ephod, the household idols, and the
molten idol, the priest said to them, “What are you
doing?”
Now
Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Now
Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were
doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
“Why are you
doing these things?”
Eli said to his sons. “I hear about your wicked deeds from all these people.
According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day,
wherewith they have
forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
Just as they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day,
forsaking Me and serving other gods, so they are
doing to you.
But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.
But if you
persist in
doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”
And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and
saluted his brethren.
Then David left his supplies in the care of the
quartermaster and ran to the battle line. When he arrived, he asked his brothers how they were
doing.
And Saul said unto him, Why have ye
conspired against me, thou and the son of
Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
And Saul asked him, “Why have you and the son of
Jesse conspired against me? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God for him so that he could rise up against me to lie in wait, as he is
doing today.”
Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife
Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was
churlish and evil in his
doings; and he was of the house of
Caleb.
His name was Nabal, and his wife’s name was
Abigail. She was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband, a Calebite, was harsh and evil in his dealings.
Thou knowest
Abner the son of
Ner, that he came to
deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how
Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war
prospered.
When Uriah came to him, David asked how
Joab and the troops were
doing with the war.
Wherefore hast thou
despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of
Ammon.
Why then have you
despised the command of the LORD by
doing evil in His sight? You put Uriah the Hittite to the sword and took his wife as your own, for you have slain him with the sword of the
Ammonites.
And
Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So
Hiram made an end of
doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the house of the LORD:
Additionally, Huram made the pots, shovels, and
sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished all the work that he had undertaken for King Solomon in the house of the LORD:
And if thou
wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in
integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and
wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:
And as for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, with a heart of
integrity and uprightness,
doing all I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and ordinances,
And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;
I
tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you. But you were not like My servant David, who kept My commandments and followed Me with all his heart,
doing only what was right in My eyes.
For his sins which he
sinned in
doing evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of
Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.
because of the sins he had committed,
doing evil in the sight of the LORD and following the example of
Jeroboam and the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.
And he came thither unto a cave, and
lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here,
Elijah?
There
Elijah entered a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “What are you
doing here,
Elijah?”
And it was so, when
Elijah heard it, that he
wrapped his face in his
mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here,
Elijah?
When
Elijah heard it, he
wrapped his face in his
cloak and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him and said, “What are you
doing here,
Elijah?”
And he walked in all the ways of
Asa his father; he turned not aside from it,
doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
And
Jehoshaphat walked in all the ways of his father
Asa; he did not turn away from them, but did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. The high places, however, were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good
tidings, and we hold our peace: if we
tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.
Finally, they said to one another, “We are not
doing what is right.
Today is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until morning light, our sin will overtake us. Now, therefore, let us go and tell the king’s household.”
And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,
Then they would put the counted money into the hands of those who
supervised the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn would pay those
doing the work—the carpenters, builders,
But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired
therewith the house of the LORD.
Instead, it was paid to those doing the work, and with it they repaired the house of the LORD.
And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used
divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced
divination and
soothsaying. They devoted themselves to
doing evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to anger.
Moreover
Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin
wherewith he made Judah to sin, in
doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Moreover,
Manasseh shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end, in addition to the sin that he had caused Judah to commit,
doing evil in the sight of the LORD.
And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
And let them deliver it into the hands of the supervisors of those doing the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn are to give it to the workmen repairing the damages to the house of the LORD—
Go ye,
enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is
kindled against us, because our fathers have not
hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
“Go and inquire of the LORD for me, for the people, and for all Judah concerning the words in this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book by doing all that is written about us.”
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was
doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.
in gold and silver, bronze and iron—
craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and may the LORD be with you.”
And as for thee, if thou
wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;
And as for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, doing all I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and ordinances,
But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
but he sought the God of his father and walked by His commandments rather than the practices of Israel.
And he walked in the way of
Asa his father, and departed not from it,
doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD.
And
Jehoshaphat walked in the way of his father
Asa and did not turn away from it; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD.
And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and
amend the house:
They put it into the hands of the supervisors of those doing the work of the house of the LORD, who in turn gave it to the workmen restoring and repairing the house of the LORD.
And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
Then Shaphan brought the book to the king and reported, “Your servants are doing all that has been placed in their hands.
Go,
enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.
“Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for those remaining in Israel and Judah concerning the words in the book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that has been poured out on us because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD by doing all that is written in this book.”
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands,
doing according to their abominations, even of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Perizzites, the Jebusites, the
Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the
Amorites.
After these things had been accomplished, the leaders approached me and said, “The people of Israel, including the priests and Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the surrounding peoples whose abominations are like those of the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Perizzites, Jebusites,
Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and
Amorites.
And the rulers knew not
whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, for I had not yet told the Jews or priests or nobles or officials or any other workers.
But when
Sanballat the Horonite,
Tobiah the
Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about this, they
mocked us and
ridiculed us, saying, “What is this you are
doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they
fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the
rubbish which are burned?
before his associates and the army of Samaria, saying, “What are these feeble Jews
doing? Can they restore the wall by themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of
rubble?”
Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
So I continued, “What you are doing is not right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our foreign enemies?
And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it to go down to you?”
Therefore was he
hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
He had been
hired to
intimidate me so that I would sin by
doing as he suggested, so they could give me a bad name in order to discredit me.
Then I
contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and
profane the sabbath day?
Then I
rebuked the nobles of Judah and asked, “What is this evil you are
doing—
profaning the Sabbath day?
Shall we then
hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to
transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
Must we now hear that you too are doing all this terrible evil and acting unfaithfully against our God by marrying foreign women?”
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
If He takes away, who can stop Him? Who
dares to ask Him, ‘What are You
doing?’
For I know not to give
flattering titles; in so
doing my maker would soon take me away.
For I do not know how to
flatter, or my Maker would remove me in an instant.
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in
Zion: declare among the people his
doings.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in
Zion;
proclaim His deeds among the nations.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and
deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
The words of his mouth are wicked and
deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and well-
doing.
And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
Then all mankind will fear and
proclaim the work of God; so they will
ponder what He has done.
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
Come and see the works of God; how
awesome are His deeds toward mankind.
I will
meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy
doings.
I will
reflect on all You have done and
ponder Your mighty deeds.
This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
This is from the LORD, and it is
marvelous in our eyes.
from those who enjoy
doing evil and
rejoice in the twistedness of evil,
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
Even a young man is known by his actions— whether his conduct is pure and upright.
For thou shalt
heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
For in so
doing, you will
heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.
Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
For the king’s word is supreme, and who can say to him, “What are you doing?”
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
When the sentence for a crime is not speedily executed, the hearts of men become fully set on doing evil.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their
doings are against the LORD, to
provoke the eyes of his glory.
For Jerusalem has
stumbled and Judah has fallen because they spoke and acted against the LORD,
defying His glorious presence.
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their labor.
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his
doings among the people, make mention that his name is
exalted.
and on that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD;
proclaim His name! Make His works known among the peoples; declare that His name is
exalted.
What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast
hewed thee out a
sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a
sepulchre on high, and that graveth an
habitation for himself in a rock?
What are you
doing here, and who authorized you to
carve out a tomb for
yourself here—to
chisel your tomb in the height and cut your resting place in the rock?
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from
polluting it, and keepeth his hand from
doing any evil.
Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without
profaning it and keeps his hand from
doing any evil.”
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,
Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
Will He be
angry forever? Will He be
indignant to the end?’ This you have spoken, but you keep
doing all the evil you can.”
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my
fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can
quench it, because of the evil of your
doings.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and remove the foreskins of your hearts, O men of Judah and people of Jerusalem. Otherwise, My wrath will break out like fire and burn with no one to
extinguish it, because of your evil deeds.”
Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
“Your ways and deeds have brought this upon you. This is your punishment; how bitter it is, because it pierces to the heart!”
For my people is
foolish, they have not known me; they are
sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
“For My people are fools; they have not known Me. They are
foolish children, without understanding. They are skilled in
doing evil, but they know not how to do good.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel,
Amend your ways and your
doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
Thus says the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel: Correct your ways and deeds, and I will let you live in this place.
For if ye throughly
amend your ways and your
doings; if ye throughly
execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
For if you really correct your ways and deeds, if you act justly toward one another,
Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
And the LORD informed me, so I knew. Then You showed me their deeds.
Can the
Ethiopian change his skin, or the
leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
Can the
Ethiopian change his skin, or the
leopard his spots? Neither are you able to do good— you who are accustomed to
doing evil.
I the LORD search the heart, I try the
reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his
doings.
I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind to reward a man according to his way, by what his deeds deserve.
