And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and
wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up;
for I will deliver them into thine hand.
So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
So they came up to
Baal-perazim; and David
smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking
forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place
Baal-perazim.
So David and his men went up to
Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a
bursting flood, God has
burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place
Baal-perazim.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle:
for God is gone
forth before thee to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him
forever.”
And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.
And David called
for Zadok and
Abiathar the priests, and
for the Levites,
for Uriel, Asaiah, and
Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and
Amminadab,
And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites:
sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared
for it.
And he said to them, “You are the heads of the
Levitical families. You and your relatives must
consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared
for it.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us.
For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was
for song: he
instructed about the song, because he was skilful.
Chenaniah the head
Levite was the director of the music because he was highly skilled.
And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Berechiah and Elkanah were to be guardians of the ark.
And Shebaniah, and
Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and
Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the
trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-
edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers
for the ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and
Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the
trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-
edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.
And David was clothed with a
robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an
ephod of linen.
Now David was dressed in a
robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, as well as the singers and Chenaniah, the director of music
for the singers. David also
wore a linen
ephod.
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
So they brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
Remember His covenant
forever, the word He ordained
for a thousand generations—
And hath confirmed the same to Jacob
for a law, and to Israel
for an
everlasting covenant,
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an
everlasting covenant:
He suffered no man to do them wrong:
yea, he reproved kings
for their sakes,
Sing unto the LORD, all the earth;
shew forth from day to day his salvation.
Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Proclaim His salvation day after day.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.
Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth.
O give
thanks unto the LORD;
for he is good;
for his mercy endureth
for ever.
Give
thanks to the LORD,
for He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel
for ever and ever. And all the people said,
Amen, and praised the LORD.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from
everlasting to
everlasting.” Then all the people said, “
Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”
And with them Heman and
Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give
thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth
for ever;
With them were Heman,
Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give
thanks to the LORD,
for “His loving devotion endures
forever.”
And with them Heman and
Jeduthun with
trumpets and cymbals
for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were
porters.
Heman and
Jeduthun had with them
trumpets and cymbals
for the music and instruments
for the songs of God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to
bless his house.
Then all the people departed
for their homes, and David returned home to
bless his household.
Then
Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart;
for God is with thee.
And
Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart,
for God is with you.”
For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
And I have been with thee
whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
Also I will
ordain a place
for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
And I will provide a place
for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness
oppress them as they did at the beginning
And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will
subdue all thine enemies.
Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will
subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a house
for you.
He shall build me an house, and I will
stablish his throne
for ever.
He will build a house
for Me, and I will establish his throne
forever.
But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom
for ever: and his throne shall be established
for evermore.
But I will set him over My house and My kingdom
forever, and his throne will be established
forever.”
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction, O LORD God.
What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
What more can David say to You for so honoring Your servant? For You know Your servant,
O LORD, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
O LORD. For the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and revealed all Your greatness.
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to
redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to
redeem as a people
for Himself? You made a name
for Yourself through great and
awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
For thy people Israel
didst thou make thine own people
for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own
forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established
forever. Do as You have promised,
Let it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou
wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
Now therefore let it please thee to
bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee
for ever:
for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed
for ever.
So now You have been pleased to
bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue
forever before You.
For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed
forever.”
David captured from him a thousand
chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he
hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept
for the
chariots.
He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to
enquire of his
welfare, and to
congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and
smitten him; (
for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
he sent his son Hadoram to
greet King David and
bless him
for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze,
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
But the princes of the children of
Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee
for to search, and to overthrow, and to
spy out the land?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect
for your father? Have not his servants come to you to
explore the land,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them:
for the men were greatly
ashamed. And the king said,
Tarry at
Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
When someone came and told David about his men, he sent messengers to meet them, since the men had been thoroughly
humiliated. The king told them, “Stay in
Jericho until your beards have grown back, and then return.”
And when the children of
Ammon saw that they had made themselves
odious to David, Hanun and the children of
Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to
hire them
chariots and
horsemen out of
Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.
So they
hired thirty and two thousand
chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of
Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
So they
hired for themselves thirty-two thousand
chariots, as well as the king of
Maacah with his troops, who came and camped near Medeba while the
Ammonites came from their cities and marched out
for battle.
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves
for battle at the entrance to the city, while the kings who had come stayed by themselves in the open country.
And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of
Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in
array against the children of
Ammon.
And he placed the rest of the
forces under the command of his brother
Abishai, who
arrayed them against the
Ammonites.
And he said, If the Syrians be too strong
for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of
Ammon be too strong
for thee, then I will help thee.
“If the Arameans are too strong
for me,” said
Joab, “then you will come to my
rescue. And if the
Ammonites are too strong
for you, then I will come to your
rescue.
Be of good courage, and let us
behave ourselves
valiantly for our people, and
for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.
Be strong and let us fight
bravely for our people and
for the cities of our God. May the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in
array against them. So when David had put the battle in
array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, advanced toward the Arameans, and
arrayed for battle against them. When David lined up to
engage them in battle, they fought against him.
But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David
slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in
chariots, and
forty thousand
footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
And it came to pass, that after the year was
expired, at the time that kings go out to battle,
Joab led
forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of
Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David
tarried at Jerusalem. And
Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war,
Joab led out the army and
ravaged the land of the
Ammonites. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. And
Joab attacked Rabbah and
demolished it.
But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them:
for the king’s word was
abominable to
Joab.
But
Joab did not include Levi and Benjamin in the count, because the king’s command was
detestable to him.
And David said unto God, I have
sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I
beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant;
for I have done very
foolishly.
Then David said to God, “I have
sinned greatly because I have done this thing. Now I
beg You to take away the iniquity of Your servant,
for I have acted very
foolishly.”
And David said unto
Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD;
for very great are his
mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
David answered
Gad, “I am deeply distressed. Please, let me fall into the hand of the LORD,
for His
mercies are very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.”
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have
sinned and done evil indeed; but as
for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house, but do not let this plague remain upon Your people.”
Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Then David said to Ornan, “Grant me the site of this
threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the LORD. Sell it to me
for the full price, so that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also
for burnt offerings, and the
threshing instruments
for wood, and the wheat
for the meat offering; I give it all.
Ornan said to David, “My lord the king may take whatever seems good. Look, I will give the oxen
for the burnt offerings, the
threshing sledges
for the wood, and the wheat
for the grain offering—I will give it all.”
And king David said to Ornan,
Nay; but I will
verily buy it
for the full price:
for I will not take that which is thine
for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
“No,” replied King David, “I
insist on paying the full price,
for I will not take
for the LORD what belongs to you, nor will I offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
So David paid Ornan six hundred shekels of gold for the site.
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at
Gibeon.
For the tabernacle of the LORD that Moses had made in the wilderness and the altar of burnt offering were presently at the high place in
Gibeon,
But David could not go before it to
enquire of God:
for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
but David could not go before it to inquire of God, because he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the LORD God, as well as the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to
hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
And David prepared iron in abundance
for the
nails for the doors of the gates, and
for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;
David provided a large quantity of iron to make the
nails for the doors of the gateways and
for the fittings, together with more bronze than could be
weighed Also
cedar trees in abundance:
for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much
cedar wood to David.
and more
cedar logs than could be counted;
for the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought a large quantity of
cedar logs to David.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded
for the LORD must be exceeding
magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation
for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
And David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built
for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent—famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore I must make preparations
for it.” So David made
lavish preparations before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David called
for his son Solomon and
instructed him to build a house
for the LORD, the God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
“My son,” said David to Solomon, “it was in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God,
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
but this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and
waged great wars. You are not to build a house
for My Name because you have shed so much blood on the ground before Me.
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
But a son will be born to you who will be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for his name will be Solomon, and I will grant to Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He is the one who will build a house
for My Name. He will be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel
forever.’
Then shalt thou
prosper, if thou takest
heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage;
dread not, nor be dismayed.
Then you will succeed, if you carefully follow the statutes and ordinances that the LORD commanded Moses
for Israel. Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared
for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight;
for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add
thereto.
Now behold, I have taken great pains to provide
for the house of the LORD—100,000 talents of gold, 1,000,000 talents of silver, and bronze and iron too great to be
weighed. I have also provided timber and stone, and you may add to them.
Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of
cunning men
for every manner of work.
You also have many workers: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and men skilled in every kind of work—
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
“Is not the LORD your God with you, and has He not granted you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before the LORD and His people.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
“Of these,” said David, “24,000 are to oversee the work of the house of the LORD, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,
Moreover four thousand were
porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise
therewith.
4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments I have made for giving praise.”
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should
sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons
for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to
bless in his name
for ever.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart
forever to
consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name
forever.
Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
As for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families, registered individually by name—those twenty years of age or older who worked in the service of the house of the LORD.
For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
For David had said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem
forever.
And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
So now the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles for its service.”
For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
For according to the final instructions of David, the Levites twenty years of age or older were counted,
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron
for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the
purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible
for the courts and chambers, the
purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,
Both
for the
shewbread, and
for the fine flour
for meat offering, and
for the
unleavened cakes, and
for that which is
baked in the pan, and
for that which is
fried, and
for all manner of measure and size;
And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.
And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another;
for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of
Eleazar, and of the sons of
Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot,
for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both
Eleazar’s and
Ithamar’s descendants.
And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the
scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and
Zadok the priest, and
Ahimelech the son of
Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken
for Eleazar, and one taken
for Ithamar.
The
scribe, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a
Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers:
Zadok the priest,
Ahimelech son of
Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites—one family being taken from
Eleazar, and then one from
Ithamar.
Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
This was their appointed order
for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed
for them by their
forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
Concerning Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, the first was Isshiah.
As for Rehabiah, from his sons: The first was Isshiah.
All these were the sons of Heman the king’s
seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these sons of Heman the king’s
