Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the
labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
And I called for a
drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the
labour of the hands.
I have summoned a
drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the
labor of your hands.”
I
smote you with blasting and with
mildew and with
hail in all the
labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with
blight,
mildew, and
hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that
oppress the
hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. And I will be a swift witness against sorcerers and adulterers and perjurers, against oppressors of the widowed and fatherless, and against those who
defraud laborers of their wages and deny justice to the foreigner but do not fear Me,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And why take ye thought for
raiment? Consider the
lilies of the field, how they grow; they
toil not, neither do they
spin:
And why do you
worry about clothes? Consider how the
lilies of the field grow: They do not
labor or
spin.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is
plenteous, but the
labourers are few;
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is
plentiful, but the workers are few.
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”
Come unto me, all ye that
labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
Come to Me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to
hire labourers into his
vineyard.
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a
landowner who went out early in the morning to
hire workers for his
vineyard.
And when he had agreed with the
labourers for a
penny a day, he sent them into his
vineyard.
So when even was come, the lord of the
vineyard saith unto his
steward, Call the
labourers, and give them their
hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
When evening came, the owner of the
vineyard said to his
foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last ones
hired and moving on to the first.’
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
And He told them, “The harvest is
plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the
labourer is worthy of his
hire. Go not from house to house.
Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
Consider the
lilies how they grow: they
toil not, they
spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not
arrayed like one of these.
Consider how the
lilies grow: They do not
labor or
spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
I sent you to
reap that
whereon ye bestowed no
labour: other men
laboured, and ye are entered into their
labours.
I sent you to
reap what you have not worked for; others have done the hard work, and now you have taken up their
labor.”
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto
everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of
approval.”
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Greet Mary, who bestowed much
labour on us.
Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you.
Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who
labour in the Lord.
Salute the beloved
Persis, which
laboured much in the Lord.
Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, women who have worked hard in the Lord.
Greet my beloved
Persis, who has worked very hard in the Lord.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.
For we are
labourers together with God: ye are God’s
husbandry, ye are God’s building.
For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,
forasmuch as ye know that your
labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be
steadfast and immovable. Always
excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your
labor in the Lord is not in vain.
That ye submit
yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and
laboureth.
to submit to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
So we
aspire to please Him, whether we are here in this body or away from it.
In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in labor, sleepless nights, and hunger;
Not
boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s
labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
Neither do we
boast beyond our limits in the
labors of others. But we hope that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you will greatly increase as well,
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a
fool) I am more; in
labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths
oft.
Are they servants of Christ? I am speaking like I am out of my mind, but I am so much more: in harder labor, in more imprisonments, in worse beatings, in frequent danger of death.
In
weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and
thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
in
labor and
toil and often without sleep, in hunger and
thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure.
I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
I fear for you, that my efforts for you may have been in vain.
Let him that
stole steal no more: but rather let him
labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
He who has been
stealing must
steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my
labour: yet what I shall choose I
wot not.
But if I go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. So what shall I choose? I do not know.
Holding forth the word of life; that I may
rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither
laboured in vain.
as you hold forth the word of life, in order that I may
boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or
labor in vain.
Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in
labour, and fellow soldier, but your
messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
But I thought it necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, who is also your
messenger and minister to my needs.
And I intreat thee also, true
yokefellow, help those women which
laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Yes, and I ask you, my true
yokefellow, to help these women who have
labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
To this end I also
labor,
striving with all His energy working powerfully within me.
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always
labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always
wrestling in prayer for you, so that you may stand
mature and fully
assured in the full will of God.
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and
labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
and continually recalling before our God and Father your work of faith, your
labor of love, and your
enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For ye remember, brethren, our
labour and
travail: for
labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Surely you recall, brothers, our
labor and
toil. We worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to
anyone while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
For this cause, when I could no longer
forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the
tempter have
tempted you, and our
labour be in vain.
For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the
tempter had
somehow tempted you and caused our
labor to be in vain.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as
travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like
labor pains on a
pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
And we
beseech you, brethren, to know them which
labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and
admonish you;
But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work
diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you instruction.
Neither did we eat any man’s bread for
nought; but wrought with
labour and
travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
nor did we eat
anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in
labor and
toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
To this end we
labor and
strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the
Savior of
everyone, and especially of those who believe.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not
muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The
labourer is worthy of his reward.
For the Scripture says, “Do not
muzzle an ox while it is
treading out the grain,” and, “The worker is worthy of his wages.”
The hardworking farmer should be the first to
partake of the crops.
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.
For God is not unrighteous to
forget your work and
labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
For God is not unjust. He will not
forget your work and the love you have shown for His name as you have ministered to the saints and continue to do so.
Behold, the
hire of the
labourers who have
reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by
fraud, crieth: and the
cries of them which have
reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of
sabaoth.
Look, the wages you
withheld from the workmen who
mowed your fields are crying out against you. The
cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
I know thy works, and thy
labour, and thy
patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
I know your deeds, your
labor, and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles.
And hast borne, and hast
patience, and for my name’s sake hast
laboured, and hast not
fainted.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their
labours; and their works do follow them.
And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead—those who die in the Lord from this moment on.” “
Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their
labors, for their deeds will follow them.”
By this also ye must know that women have dominion over you: do ye not
labour and
toil, and give and bring all to the woman?
The servants of the temple: the sons of
Esau, the sons of Asipha, the sons of Tabaoth, the sons of Ceras, the sons of Sud, the sons of Phaleas, the sons of
Labana, the sons of Graba,
And they appointed the Levites from twenty years old over the works of the Lord. Then stood up Jesus, and his sons and brethren, and Cadmiel his brother, and the sons of Madiabun, with the sons of Joda the son of Eliadun, with their sons and brethren, all Levites, with one
accord setters forward of the business,
labouring to advance the works in the house of God. So the workmen built the temple of the Lord.
They shall have the tree of life for an
ointment of sweet savour; they shall neither
labour, nor be
weary.
And yet their reward appeareth not, and their labour hath no fruit: for I have gone here and there through the heathen, and I see that they flow in wealth, and think not upon thy commandments.
At the same time shall men hope, but nothing obtain: they shall
labour, but their ways shall not
prosper.
And I said, No, Lord: but of very grief have I spoken: for my
reins pain me every hour, while I
labour to
comprehend the way of the most High, and to seek out part of his judgment.
Open me the places that are closed, and bring me forth the winds that in them are shut up,
shew me the image of a voice: and then I will declare to thee the thing that thou
labourest to know.
If then they that live labour not to enter these strait and vain things, they can never receive those that are laid up for them.
If therefore thou shalt destroy him which with so great labour was fashioned, it is an easy thing to be ordained by thy commandment, that the thing which was made might be preserved.
Let the multitude perish then, which was born in vain; and let my
grape be kept, and my plant; for with great
labour have I made it perfect.
Then say I unto thee, Like as thou hast brought forth with labour; even so the earth also hath given her fruit, namely, man, ever since the beginning unto him that made her.
And therefore
shake off thy great
heaviness, and put away the multitude of sorrows, that the Mighty may be
merciful unto thee again, and the Highest shall give thee rest and ease from thy
labour.
And whereas she told thee that she
nourished him with
labour: that was the dwelling in Jerusalem.
And shall lay before them their evil thoughts, and the torments
wherewith they shall begin to be
tormented, which are like unto a flame: and he shall destroy them without
labour by the law which is like unto me.
And therefore they that labour labour in vain:
Therefore the king of Egypt rose up against them, and dealt
subtilly with them, and brought them low with
labouring in brick, and made them slaves.
Remember what things he did to Abraham, and how he tried Isaac, and what happened to Jacob in
Mesopotamia of Syria, when he kept the sheep of
Laban his mother’s brother.
For
whoso despiseth wisdom and
nurture, he is
miserable, and their hope is vain, their
labours unfruitful, and their works unprofitable:
For glorious is the fruit of good labours: and the root of wisdom shall never fall away.
Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldness before the face of such as have
afflicted him, and made no account of his
labours.
And if a man love righteousness her
labours are virtues: for she teacheth
temperance and
prudence, justice and
fortitude: which are such things, as men can have nothing more profitable in their life.
O send her out of thy holy heavens, and from the throne of thy glory, that being present she may labour with me, that I may know what is pleasing unto thee.
And hardly do we
guess aright at things that are upon earth, and with
labour do we find the things that are before us: but the things that are in heaven who hath searched out?
When the righteous fled from his brother’s wrath she guided him in right paths, shewed him the kingdom of God, and gave him knowledge of holy things, made him rich in his travels, and multiplied the fruit of his labours.
Rendered to the righteous a reward of their labours, guided them in a marvellous way, and was unto them for a cover by day, and a light of stars in the night season;
For the
potter, tempering soft earth, fashioneth every vessel with much
labour for our service:
yea, of the same clay he maketh both the vessels that serve for clean uses, and likewise also all such as serve to the contrary: but what is the use of either sort, the
potter himself is the judge.
And employing his
labours lewdly, he maketh a vain god of the same clay, even he which a little before was made of earth himself, and within a little while after returneth to the same, out when his life which was lent him shall be demanded.
Notwithstanding his care is, not that he shall have much
labour, nor that his life is short: but striveth to
excel goldsmiths and silversmiths, and endeavoureth to do like the workers in brass, and counteth it his glory to make
counterfeit things.
Instead
whereof thou feddest thine own people with angels’ food, and
didst send them from heaven bread prepared without their
labour, able to content every man’s delight, and agreeing to every taste.
For whether he were
husbandman, or
shepherd, or a
labourer in the field, he was overtaken, and
endured that necessity, which could not be avoided: for they were all bound with one chain of darkness.
For the whole world
shined with clear light, and none were hindered in their
labour:
Come unto her as one that ploweth and soweth, and wait for her good fruits: for thou shalt not
toil much in
labouring about her, but thou shalt eat of her fruits right soon.
Hate not
laborious work, neither
husbandry, which the most High hath ordained.
Better is he that laboureth, and aboundeth in all things, than he that boasteth himself, and wanteth bread.
There is one that
laboureth, and taketh pains, and maketh
haste, and is so much the more behind.
Marvel not at the works of sinners; but trust in the Lord, and
abide in thy
labour: for it is an easy thing in the sight of the Lord on the sudden to make a poor man rich.
A
cheerful countenance is a
token of a heart that is in prosperity; and the finding out of parables is a
wearisome labour of the mind.
Shalt thou not leave thy travails unto another? and thy labours to be divided by lot?
He
garnished his works for ever, and in his hand are the chief of them unto all generations: they neither
labour, nor are
weary, nor cease from their works.
A
labouring man that A is given to
drunkenness shall not be rich: and he that contemneth small things shall fall by little and little.
A
fool travaileth with a word, as a woman in
labour of a child.
Behold that I have not laboured for myself only, but for all them that seek wisdom.
Chastise thy son, and hold him to
labour, lest his
lewd behaviour be an offence unto thee.
