For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, in whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on Your altar.
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render
thank offerings to You.
I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
I will enter Your house with burnt
offerings; I will
fulfill my vows to You—
I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats.
Selah.
I will offer You fatlings as burnt
offerings, with the
fragrant smoke of rams; I will offer bulls and goats.
Selah Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an
offering and enter His courts.
Accept, I
beseech thee, the
freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
Accept the
freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me Your judgments.
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
May my prayer be set before You like incense, my
uplifted hands like the evening
offering.
I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
“I have made my peace
offerings;
today I have paid my vows.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
“What good to Me is your multitude of sacrifices?” says the LORD. “I am full from the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I take no delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an
abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of
assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Bring your worthless
offerings no more; your incense is
detestable to Me— your New Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot
endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.
And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and
oblation;
yea, they shall
vow a
vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
The LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and on that day Egypt will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and
offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and
fulfill them.
And
Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt
offering.
Lebanon is not sufficient for fuel, nor its animals enough for a burnt
offering.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt
offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an
offering, nor
wearied thee with incense.
You have not brought Me sheep for burnt
offerings, nor honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with
offerings, nor
wearied you with
frankincense.
Yet it pleased the LORD to
bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an
offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall
prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall
prosper in his hand.
Yet it was the LORD’s will to
crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt
offering, He will see His offspring, He will
prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will
prosper in His hand.
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
I will bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar, for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations.”
Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
Your portion is among the smooth stones of the valley; indeed, they are your lot. Even to them you have poured out a drink offering and offered a grain offering. Should I relent because of these?
For I the LORD love judgment, I
hate robbery for burnt
offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an
everlasting covenant with them.
But ye are they that
forsake the LORD, that
forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that
troop, and that furnish the drink
offering unto that number.
But you who
forsake the LORD, who
forget My holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill
bowls of mixed wine for
Destiny,
He that killeth an ox is as if he
slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an
oblation, as if he offered
swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an
idol.
Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Whoever slaughters an ox is like one who slays a man;
whoever sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever presents a grain
offering is like one who offers pig’s blood;
whoever offers
frankincense is like one who blesses an
idol. Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their abominations.
And they shall bring all your brethren for an
offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an
offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites bring an
offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from
Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt
offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
What use to Me is
frankincense from
Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt
offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me.”
The children gather wood, and the fathers
kindle the fire, and the women
knead their
dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink
offerings unto other gods, that they may
provoke me to anger.
The sons gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women
knead the
dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven; they pour out drink
offerings to other gods to
provoke Me to anger.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Add your burnt
offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat
yourselves!
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
For when I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt, I did not merely command them about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to
provoke me to anger in
offering incense unto
Baal.
The LORD of Hosts, who planted you, has decreed
disaster against you on account of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have brought upon themselves,
provoking Me to anger by burning incense to
Baal.”
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt
offering and an
oblation, I will not accept them: but I will
consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the
pestilence.
Although they may fast, I will not
listen to their cry; although they may offer burnt
offerings and grain
offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will finish them off by sword and famine and plague.”
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.
And people will come from the cities of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the foothills, the hill country, and the Negev, bringing burnt
offerings and sacrifices, grain
offerings and
frankincense, and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.
They have built also the high places of
Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt
offerings unto
Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
They have built high places to
Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as
offerings to
Baal—something I never commanded or mentioned, nor did it even enter My mind.
And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be
defiled as the place of
Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink
offerings unto other gods.
The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be
defiled like that place, Topheth—all the houses on whose rooftops they burned incense to all the host of heaven and poured out drink
offerings to other gods.”
And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto
Baal, and poured out drink
offerings unto other gods, to
provoke me to anger.
And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will come in, set it on fire, and burn it, along with the houses of those who
provoked Me to anger by burning incense to
Baal on their rooftops and by pouring out drink
offerings to other gods.
The voice of joy, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing
thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give
thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity as in former times, says the LORD.
Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt
offerings, and to
kindle meat
offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
nor will the priests who are Levites ever fail to have a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to present sacrifices.”
That there came certain from
Shechem, from
Shiloh, and from Samaria, even
fourscore men, having their beards
shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with
offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
eighty men who had
shaved off their beards,
torn their garments, and cut themselves came from
Shechem,
Shiloh, and Samaria, carrying grain
offerings and
frankincense for the house of the LORD.
But we will certainly do
whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink
offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we
plenty of
victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
Instead, we will do everything we
vowed to do: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and offer drink
offerings to her, just as we, our fathers, our kings, and our officials did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had
plenty of food and good things, and we saw no
disaster.
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?
“Moreover,” said the women, “when we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink
offerings to her, was it without our husbands’ knowledge that we made
sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink
offerings to her?”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have
vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink
offerings unto her: ye will surely
accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands your words: ‘We will surely perform our vows that we have made to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink
offerings to her.’ Go
ahead, then, do what you have promised! Keep your vows!
Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.
In Moab, declares the LORD, I will bring an end to those who make offerings on the high places and burn incense to their gods.
And the basons, and the firepans, and the
bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, took the captain of the guard away.
The captain of the guard also took away the basins, censers,
sprinkling bowls, pots, lampstands, pans, and drink
offering bowls—anything made of pure gold or fine silver.
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the
provocation of their
offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink
offerings.
When I brought them into the land that I
swore to give them and they saw any high hill or
leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, presented
offerings that
provoked Me, sent up their
fragrant incense, and poured out their drink
offerings.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
And the chambers and the
entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt
offering.
There was a chamber with a
doorway by the
portico in each of the inner gateways. There the burnt
offering was to be washed.
And in the
porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to
slay thereon the burnt
offering and the sin
offering and the
trespass offering.
Inside the
portico of the
gateway were two tables on each side, on which the burnt
offerings, sin
offerings, and guilt
offerings were to be slaughtered.
And the four tables were of
hewn stone for the burnt
offering, of a
cubit and an half long, and a
cubit and an half broad, and one
cubit high:
whereupon also they laid the instruments
wherewith they
slew the burnt
offering and the sacrifice.
There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt
offering, each a
cubit and a half long, a
cubit and a half wide, and a
cubit high. On these were placed the utensils used to slaughter the burnt
offerings and the other sacrifices.
And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
The double-
pronged hooks, each a
handbreadth long, were fastened all around the inside of the room, and the flesh of the
offering was to be placed on the tables.
Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat
offering, and the sin
offering, and the
trespass offering; for the place is holy.
Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple
courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy
offerings. There they will place the most holy
offerings—the grain
offerings, the sin
offerings, and the guilt
offerings—for the place is holy.
And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more
defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their
whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
and He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place for the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the Israelites
forever. The house of Israel will never again
defile My holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their
prostitution and by the funeral
offerings for their kings at their deaths.
Now let them put away their
whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
Now let them remove far from Me their
prostitution and the funeral
offerings for their kings, and I will dwell among them
forever.
And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt
offerings thereon, and to
sprinkle blood
thereon.
Then He said to me: “Son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘These are the statutes for the altar on the day it is constructed, so that burnt
offerings may be sacrificed on it and blood may be
sprinkled on it:
And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of
Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young
bullock for a sin
offering.
You are to give a young bull from the
herd as a sin
offering to the
Levitical priests who are of the family of
Zadok, who approach Me to minister before Me, declares the Lord GOD.
Thou shalt take the
bullock also of the sin
offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
Then you are to take away the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the appointed part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
And on the second day thou shalt offer a
kid of the goats without
blemish for a sin
offering; and they shall
cleanse the altar, as they did
cleanse it with the
bullock.
On the second day you are to present an
unblemished male goat as a sin
offering, and the altar is to be
cleansed as it was with the bull.
And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
You must present them before the LORD; the priests are to
sprinkle salt on them and sacrifice them as a burnt
offering to the LORD.
Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin
offering: they shall also prepare a young
bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without
blemish.
For seven days you are to provide a male goat daily for a sin
offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the flock, both
unblemished.
And when these days are
expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt
offerings upon the altar, and your peace
offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord GOD.
At the end of these days, from the eighth day on, the priests are to present your burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar. Then I will accept you, declares the Lord GOD.’”
Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall
slay the burnt
offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and ministering there. They shall slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and stand before them to minister to them.
And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord GOD.
And on the day he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he must present his sin offering, declares the Lord GOD.
They shall eat the meat
offering, and the sin
offering, and the
trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
They shall eat the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings. Everything in Israel devoted to the LORD will belong to them.
And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every
oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest’s: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your
dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.
The best of all the firstfruits and of every contribution from all your
offerings will belong to the priests. You are to give your first
batch of
dough to the priest, so that a blessing may rest upon your homes.
And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat
offering, and for a burnt
offering, and for peace
offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep shall be given from each flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain
offerings, burnt
offerings, and peace
offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt
offerings, and meat
offerings, and drink
offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin
offering, and the meat
offering, and the burnt
offering, and the peace
offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt
offerings, grain
offerings, and drink
offerings for the feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin
offerings, grain
offerings, burnt
offerings, and peace
offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
And the priest is to take some of the blood from the sin
offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the
ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the inner court.
And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a
bullock for a sin
offering.
On that day the prince shall provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.
And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt
offering to the LORD, seven bullocks and seven rams without
blemish daily the seven days; and a
kid of the goats daily for a sin
offering.
Each day during the seven days of the feast, he shall provide seven bulls and seven rams without
blemish as a burnt
offering to the LORD, along with a male goat for a sin
offering.
He shall also provide as a grain
offering an
ephah for each bull and an
ephah for each ram, along with a
hin of olive oil for each
ephah of grain.
In the seventh month, in the
fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin
offering, according to the burnt
offering, and according to the meat
offering, and according to the oil.
During the seven days of the feast that begins on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, he is to make the same provision for sin
offerings, burnt
offerings, grain
offerings, and oil.’
And the prince shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt
offering and his peace
offerings, and he shall worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests sacrifice his burnt
offerings and peace
offerings. He is to bow in worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
And the burnt
offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath day shall be six lambs without
blemish, and a ram without
blemish.
The burnt
offering that the prince presents to the LORD on the Sabbath day shall be six
unblemished male lambs and an
unblemished ram.
And the meat
offering shall be an
ephah for a ram, and the meat
offering for the lambs as he shall be able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
The grain
offering with the ram shall be one
ephah, and the grain
offering with the lambs shall be as much as he is able, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And he shall prepare a meat
offering, an
ephah for a
bullock, and an
ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
He is to provide a grain
offering of an
ephah with the bull, an
ephah with the ram, and as much as he is able with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And in the feasts and in the
solemnities the meat
offering shall be an
ephah to a
bullock, and
ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
At the festivals and appointed feasts, the grain
offering shall be an
ephah with a bull, an
ephah with a ram, and as much as one is able to give with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt
offering or peace
offerings voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt
offering and his peace
offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
When the prince makes a
freewill offering to the LORD, whether a burnt
offering or a peace
offering, the gate facing east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt
offering or peace
offering just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and the gate must be closed after he goes out.
Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt
offering unto the LORD of a lamb of the first year without
blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
And you shall provide an
unblemished year-old lamb as a daily burnt
offering to the LORD; you are to offer it every morning.
And thou shalt prepare a meat
offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an
ephah, and the third part of an
hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a meat
offering continually by a perpetual
ordinance unto the LORD.
You are also to provide with it every morning a grain
offering of a sixth of an
ephah with a third of a
hin of oil to
moisten the fine flour—a grain
offering to the LORD. This is a permanent statute.
Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering.
Thus they shall provide the lamb, the grain offering, and the oil every morning as a regular burnt offering.’
Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests shall
boil the
trespass offering and the sin
offering, where they shall
bake the meat
offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, to
sanctify the people.
and said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall
boil the guilt
offering and the sin
offering, and where they shall
bake the grain
offering, so that they do not bring them into the outer court and
transmit holiness to the people.”
And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and the length of a
tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the sanctuary.
Then the king
Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an
oblation and sweet odours unto him.
At this, King
Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, paid
homage to Daniel, and ordered that an
offering of incense be presented to him.
And he shall
confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the
desolate.
And he will
confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and
offering. And on the wing of the temple will come the
abomination that causes
desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured out upon him.”
They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit
whoredom, and your spouses shall commit
adultery.
They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn
offerings on the hills, under oak,
poplar, and
terebinth, because their shade is pleasant. And so your daughters turn to
prostitution and your daughters-in-law to
adultery.
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to Me, and though they eat the meat, the LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and
punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.
They shall not offer wine
offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be
polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
They will not pour out wine
offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not please Him, but will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat will be
defiled. For their bread will be for themselves; it will not enter the house of the LORD.
The meat
offering and the drink
offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD’S ministers,
mourn.
Grain and drink
offerings have been cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests are in
mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
Gird yourselves, and
lament, ye priests:
howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in
sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat
offering and the drink
offering is
withholden from the house of your God.
Put on
sackcloth and
lament, O priests;
wail, O ministers of the altar. Come,
spend the night in
sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because the grain and drink
offerings are
withheld from the house of your God.
Who knoweth if he will return and
repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat
offering and a drink
offering unto the LORD your God?
Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave a blessing behind Him— grain and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
Offer
leavened bread as a
thank offering, and loudly
proclaim your
freewill offerings. For that is what you children of Israel love to do,” declares the Lord GOD.
Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
Even though you offer Me burnt
offerings and grain
offerings, I will not accept them; for your peace
offerings of
fattened cattle I will have no regard.
Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt
offerings, with
calves of a year old?
With what shall I come before the LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to Him with burnt
offerings, with year-old
calves?
From beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my
dispersed, shall bring mine
offering.
From beyond the rivers of
Cush My worshipers, My scattered people, will bring Me an
offering.
Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of
Josiah the son of
Zephaniah;
“Take an
offering from the exiles—from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon—and go that same day to the house of
Josiah son of
Zephaniah.
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try
offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for
nought? neither do ye
kindle fire on mine altar for
nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an
offering at your hand.
“Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer
kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept no
offering from your hands.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
For My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be presented in My name, because My name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Ye said also, Behold, what a
weariness is it! and ye have
snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was
torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an
offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
You also say: ‘Oh, what a
nuisance!’ And you turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring
offerings that are
stolen,
lame, or sick! Should I accept these from your hands?” asks the LORD.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
As for the man who does this, may the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob
everyone who is
awake and aware—even if he brings an
offering to the LORD of Hosts.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the
offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.
And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping and
groaning, because He no longer regards your
offerings or receives them
gladly from your hands.
