And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins
girded, your
shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in
haste: it is the LORD’S
passover.
This is how you are to eat it: You must be fully dressed for travel, with your
sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. You are to eat in
haste; it is the LORD’s
Passover.
For I will
pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will
smite all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will
execute judgment: I am the LORD.

pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every
firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will
execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
And the blood shall be to you for a
token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will
pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I
smite the land of Egypt.

Passover lamb.
For the LORD will
pass through to
smite the Egyptians; and when he
seeth the blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will
pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to
smite you.
When the LORD
passes through to strike down the Egyptians, He will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will
pass over that
doorway; so He will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

passover, who
passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he
smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

spared our homes.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD
slew all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the
firstborn of man, and the
firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the
matrix, being males; but all the
firstborn of my children I
redeem.
And when Pharaoh
stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of man and beast. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the
firstborn male of every
womb, but I
redeem all the
firstborn of my sons.’

pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest
peradventure the people
repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, though it was shorter. For God said, “If the people face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

Fear and
dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people
pass over, O LORD, till the people
pass over, which thou hast purchased.
and terror and
dread will fall on them. By the power of Your arm they will be as still as a stone until Your people
pass by, O LORD, until the people You have bought
pass by.

thunder and
lightning. A thick cloud was upon the mountain, and a very loud blast of the ram’s horn went out, so that all the people in the camp
trembled.
For that is his covering only, it is his
raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to
pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am
gracious.
because his
cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? And if he
cries out to Me, I will hear, for I am
compassionate.
This they shall give, every one that
passeth among them that are numbered, half a
shekel after the
shekel of the sanctuary: (a
shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half
shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.
Everyone who crosses over to those counted must pay a half
shekel, according to the sanctuary

afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to
pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the Tent of Meeting outside the camp.
And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

And it came to

pass before thee, and I will
proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be
gracious to whom I will be
gracious, and will
shew mercy on whom I will
shew mercy.

pass before you,” the LORD replied, “and I will
proclaim My name—the LORD—in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I have
compassion.”
And it shall come to
pass, while my glory
passeth by, that I will put thee in a
clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I
pass by:
and when My glory
passes by, I will put you in a
cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have
passed by.
And the LORD
passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God,
merciful and
gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Then the LORD
passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is
compassionate and
gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with
leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the
passover be left unto the morning.

leavened, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the
Passover Feast remain until morning.
And it came to
pass, when Moses came down from mount
Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses

Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was unaware that his face had become

pass through the fire to

profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
And I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to fear. I will rid the land of dangerous animals, and no sword will pass through your land.
And concerning the
tithe of the
herd, or of the flock, even of
whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
Every tenth animal from the
herd or flock that
passes under the
shepherd’s rod will be holy to the LORD.
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to
pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her people.
All the days of the
vow of his separation there shall no
razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
For the entire period of his
vow of separation, no
razor shall
pass over his head. He must be holy until the time of his separation to the LORD is complete; he must let the hair of his head grow long.

anointed and consecrated it and all its furnishings, along with the altar and all its utensils.
Let the children of Israel also keep the
passover at his appointed season.
“The Israelites are to observe the
Passover at its appointed time.
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the
passover.
So Moses told the Israelites to observe the
Passover,
And they kept the
passover on the
fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of
Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
and they did so in the Wilderness of
Sinai, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And there were certain men, who were
defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the
passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
But there were some men who were unclean due to a dead body, so they could not observe the
Passover on that day. And they came before Moses and Aaron that same day
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your
posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey
afar off, yet he shall keep the
passover unto the LORD.
“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any one of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a journey, he may still observe the
Passover to the LORD.
They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the
passover they shall keep it.
they may not leave any of it until morning or break any of its bones. They must observe the
Passover according to all its statutes.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger shall
sojourn among you, and will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one
ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
If a foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the foreigner and the native of the land.’”

pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that
hate thee
flee before thee.

hate You
flee before You.”

prophesied—but they never did so again.
And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground

And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

And it shall come to
pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall
blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they
murmur against you.
The staff belonging to the man I choose will
sprout, and I will rid Myself of the constant
grumbling of the Israelites against you.”
And it came to
pass, that on the
morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was

The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, representing the house of Levi, had
sprouted, put forth buds,
blossomed, and produced almonds.
Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
Please let us
pass through your land. We will not cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s
Highway; we will not turn to the right or to the left until we have
passed through your territory.”
And
Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not
pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
But
Edom answered, “You may not travel through our land, or we will come out and
confront you with the sword.”
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
“We will stay on the main road,” the Israelites replied, “and if we or our herds drink your water, we will pay for it. There will be no problem; only let us pass through on foot.”
And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And
Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
But
Edom insisted, “You may not
pass through.” And they came out to
confront the Israelites with a large army and a strong hand.
Thus
Edom refused to give Israel
passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
So
Edom refused to allow Israel to
pass through their territory, and Israel turned away from them.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a
fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to
pass, that every one that is
bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a
fiery serpent and mount it on a pole. When
anyone who is
bitten looks at it, he will live.”
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to
pass, that if a serpent had
bitten any man, when he
beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
So Moses made a bronze
snake and mounted it on a pole. If
anyone who was
bitten looked at the bronze
snake, he would live.
Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
“Let us
pass through your land. We will not cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s
Highway until we have
passed through your territory.”

confront Israel in the wilderness. When he came to Jahaz, he fought against Israel.

pass on the
morrow, that Balak took
Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of
Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

baal. From there he could see the outskirts of the camp of the people.
And it came to
pass after the plague, that the LORD spake unto Moses and unto
Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,
After the plague had ended, the LORD said to Moses and
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest,
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.
Every thing that may
abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be
purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
everything that can
withstand the fire—must be put through the fire, and it will be clean. But it must still be
purified with the water of
purification. And everything that cannot
withstand the fire must
pass through the water.
But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.
But your servants are
equipped for war, and every man will cross over to the battle before the LORD, just as our lord says.”
And Moses said unto them, If the children of
Gad and the children of
Reuben will
pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of
Gilead for a possession:
And Moses said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites cross the Jordan with you, with every man armed for battle before the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you are to give them the land of
Gilead as a possession.
But if they will not
pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of
Canaan.
But if they do not arm themselves and go across with you, then they must accept their possession among you in the land of
Canaan.”
We will
pass over armed before the LORD into the land of
Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
We will cross over into the land of
Canaan armed before the LORD, that we may have our inheritance on this side of the Jordan.”
And they departed from
Rameses in the first month, on the
fifteenth day of the first month; on the
morrow after the
passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.
On the
fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the
Passover, the Israelites set out from
Rameses. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians,
And they departed from before
Pi-hahiroth, and
passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in
Marah.
They set out from
Pi-hahiroth and crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at
Marah.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are
passed over Jordan into the land of
Canaan;
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of
Canaan,
But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to
pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall
vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will
harass you in the land where you settle.
Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.
And then I will do to you what I had
planned to do to them.”
And your border shall turn from the south to the
ascent of Akrabbim, and
pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and
pass on to Azmon:
cross south of the
Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and go south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it will go on to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon,
And it came to
pass in the
fortieth year, in the
eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;
In the
fortieth year, on the first day of the
eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the LORD had commanded him concerning them.
And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to
pass through the coast of your brethren the children of
Esau, which dwell in
Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good
heed unto
yourselves therefore:
and command the people: ‘You will
pass through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of
Esau, who live in
Seir. They will be afraid of you, so you must be very careful.
And when we
passed by from our brethren the children of
Esau, which dwelt in
Seir, through the way of the plain from
Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and
passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
So we
passed by our brothers, the descendants of
Esau, who live in
Seir. We turned away from the Arabah road, which comes up from
Elath and Ezion-
geber, and traveled along the road of the Wilderness of Moab.
So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
Now when all the fighting men among the people had died,
Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
“
Today you are going to cross the border of Moab at Ar.
Rise ye up, take your journey, and
pass over the river
Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and
contend with him in battle.
“Arise, set out, and cross the
Arnon Valley. See, I have delivered into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land. Begin to take possession of it and
engage him in battle.
Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
“Let us pass through your land; we will stay on the main road. We will not turn to the right or to the left.
Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
You can sell us food to eat and water to drink in exchange for silver. Only let us pass through on foot,
(As the children of
Esau which dwell in
Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall
pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.
just as the descendants of
Esau who live in
Seir and the Moabites who live in Ar did for us, until we cross the Jordan into the land that the LORD our God is giving us.”
