And the sons of
Cush; Seba, and
Havilah, and
Sabtah, and Raamah, and
Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah;
Sheba, and Dedan.
The sons of
Cush: Seba,
Havilah,
Sabtah, Raamah, and
Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah:
Sheba and Dedan.
And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To
morrow is the rest of the holy
sabbath unto the LORD:
bake that which ye will
bake to day, and
seethe that ye will
seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
He told them, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘
Tomorrow is to be a day of complete rest, a holy
Sabbath to the LORD. So
bake what you want to
bake, and
boil what you want to
boil. Then set aside whatever remains and keep it until morning.’”
And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
“Eat it
today,” Moses said, “because
today is a
Sabbath to the LORD.
Today you will not find anything in the field.
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
For six days you may gather, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, it will not be there.”
See, for that the LORD hath given you the
sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days;
abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
Understand that the LORD has given you the
Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day He will give you bread for two days. On the seventh day,
everyone must stay where he is; no one may leave his place.”
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
But the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
but the seventh day is a
Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your
manservant or
maidservant or
livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates.
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the
sabbath day, and
hallowed it.
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, but on the seventh day He rested. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying,
Verily my
sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that
doth sanctify you.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Surely you must keep My Sabbaths, for this will be a sign between Me and you for the generations to come, so that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
Ye shall keep the
sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for
whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Keep the
Sabbath, for it is holy to you.
Anyone who profanes it must surely be put to death.
Whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from among his people.
Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the
sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:
whosoever doeth any work in the
sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a
Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD.
Whoever does any work on the
Sabbath day must surely be put to death.
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
The Israelites must keep the
Sabbath,
celebrating it as a permanent covenant for the generations to come.
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a
sabbath of rest to the LORD:
whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
For six days work may be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a
Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD.
Whoever does any work on that day must be put to death.
Ye shall
kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the
sabbath day.
Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
It shall be a
sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall
afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.
It is a
Sabbath of complete rest for you, that you may humble
yourselves; it is a permanent statute.
Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must keep My Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
You must keep My Sabbaths and have reverence for My sanctuary. I am the LORD.
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the
sabbath of rest, an holy
convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the
sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a day of sacred assembly. You must not do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the
morrow after the
sabbath the priest shall wave it.
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD so that it may be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the
Sabbath.
And ye shall count unto you from the
morrow after the
sabbath, from the day that ye brought the
sheaf of the wave offering; seven
sabbaths shall be complete:
From the day after the
Sabbath, the day you brought the
sheaf of the wave offering, you are to count off seven full weeks.
Even unto the
morrow after the seventh
sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
You shall count off fifty days until the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a
sabbath, a
memorial of blowing of
trumpets, an holy
convocation.
“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly
announced by
trumpet blasts.
It shall be unto you a
sabbath of rest, and ye shall
afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye
celebrate your
sabbath.
It will be a
Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble
yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to keep your
Sabbath.”
Beside the
sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your
freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
These offerings are in addition to the offerings for the LORD’s
Sabbaths, and in addition to your gifts, to all your
vow offerings, and to all the
freewill offerings you give to the LORD.
Also in the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a
sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a
sabbath.
On the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the produce of the land, you are to
celebrate a feast to the LORD for seven days. There shall be complete rest on the first day and also on the eighth day.
Every
sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an
everlasting covenant.
Every Sabbath day the bread is to be set out before the LORD on behalf of the Israelites as a permanent covenant.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.
“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land that I am giving you, the land itself must observe a Sabbath to the LORD.
But in the seventh year shall be a
sabbath of rest unto the land, a
sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither
sow thy field, nor
prune thy
vineyard.
But in the seventh year there shall be a
Sabbath of complete rest for the land—a
Sabbath to the LORD. You are not to
sow your field or
prune your
vineyard.
And the
sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy
maid, and for thy
hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
And you shall count off seven Sabbaths of years—seven times seven years—so that the seven Sabbaths of years amount to forty-nine years.
Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
You must keep My Sabbaths and have reverence for My sanctuary. I am the LORD.
Then shall the land enjoy her
sabbaths, as long as it lieth
desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her
sabbaths.
Then the land shall enjoy its
Sabbaths all the days it lies
desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies. At that time the land will rest and enjoy its
Sabbaths.
As long as it lieth
desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your
sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
As long as it lies
desolate, the land will have the rest it did not receive during the
Sabbaths when you lived in it.
The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her
sabbaths, while she lieth
desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they
despised my judgments, and because their soul
abhorred my statutes.
For the land will be abandoned by them, and it will enjoy its
Sabbaths by lying
desolate without them. And they will pay the penalty for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and
abhorred My statutes.
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:
On the
Sabbath day, present two
unblemished year-old male lambs, accompanied by a grain offering of two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, as well as a drink offering.
This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.
Keep the
sabbath day to
sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.
But the seventh day is the
sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy
manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine
ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy
manservant and thy
maidservant may rest as well as thou.
but the seventh day is a
Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your
manservant or
maidservant, nor your ox or
donkey or any of your
livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates, so that your
manservant and
maidservant may rest as you do.
And remember that thou
wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the
sabbath day.
Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
And he said, Wherefore
wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor
sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.
“Why would you go to him
today?” he replied. “It is not a New Moon or a
Sabbath.” “Everything is all right,” she said.
And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;
and commanded them, “This is what you are to do: A third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath shall guard the royal palace,
And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.
the two divisions that would go off duty on the Sabbath are to guard the house of the LORD for the king.
And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
So the commanders of hundreds did everything that Jehoiada the priest had ordered. Each of them took his men—those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty—and came to Jehoiada the priest.
And the
covert for the
sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
And on account of the king of Assyria, he removed the
Sabbath canopy they had built in the temple and closed the royal entryway outside the house of the LORD.
And the sons of
Cush; Seba, and
Havilah, and
Sabta, and Raamah, and
Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah;
Sheba, and Dedan.
The sons of
Cush: Seba,
Havilah,
Sabta, Raamah, and
Sabteca. The sons of Raamah:
Sheba and Dedan.
And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the
shewbread, to prepare it every
sabbath.
Some of their Kohathite brothers were responsible for preparing the rows of the
showbread every
Sabbath.
And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the
sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening as well as on the
Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the
sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for
Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the
sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be
porters of the doors;
This is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath shall keep watch at the doors,
So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
So the Levites and all Judah did everything that Jehoiada the priest had ordered. Each of them took his men—those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty—for Jehoiada the priest had not released any of the divisions.
He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.
The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.
To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her
sabbaths: for as long as she lay
desolate she kept
sabbath, to fulfil
threescore and ten years.
So the land enjoyed its
Sabbath rest all the days of the
desolation, until seventy years were completed, in
fulfillment of the word of the LORD through Jeremiah.
And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
You revealed to them Your holy Sabbath and gave them commandments and statutes and laws through Your servant Moses.
And if the people of the land bring ware or any
victuals on the
sabbath day to sell, that we would not
buy it of them on the
sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the
exaction of every debt.
When the people of the land bring
merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the
Sabbath day, we will not
buy from them on a
Sabbath or holy day. Every seventh year we will let the fields lie
fallow, and will
cancel every debt.
For the
shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the
sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an
atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
for the
showbread, for the regular grain offerings and burnt offerings, for the
Sabbath offerings, for the New Moons and appointed feasts, for the holy offerings, for the sin offerings to make
atonement for Israel, and for all the duties of the house of our God.
In those days saw I in Judah some
treading winepresses on the
sabbath, and bringing in
sheaves, and
lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the
sabbath day: and I
testified against them in the day wherein they sold
victuals.
In those days I saw people in Judah
treading winepresses on the
Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on
donkeys, along with wine, grapes, and figs. All kinds of goods were being brought into Jerusalem on the
Sabbath day. So I
warned them against selling food on that day.
There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
Additionally, men of Tyre who lived there were importing fish and all kinds of
merchandise and selling them on the
Sabbath to the people of Judah in Jerusalem.
Then I
contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and
profane the
sabbath day?
Then I
rebuked the nobles of Judah and asked, “What is this evil you are doing—
profaning the
Sabbath day?
Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by
profaning the
sabbath.
Did not your forefathers do the same things, so that our God brought all this
disaster on us and on this city? And now you are
rekindling His wrath against Israel by
profaning the
Sabbath!”
And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
When the evening shadows began to fall on the gates of Jerusalem, just before the Sabbath, I ordered that the gates be shut and not opened until after the Sabbath. I posted some of my servants at the gates so that no load could enter on the Sabbath day.
Then I
testified against them, and said unto them, Why
lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the
sabbath.
but I
warned them, “Why are you camping in front of the wall? If you do it again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they did not return on the
Sabbath.
And I commanded the Levites that they should
cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to
sanctify the
sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and
spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
Then I
instructed the Levites to
purify themselves and guard the gates in order to keep the
Sabbath day holy. Remember me for this as well, O my God, and show me mercy according to Your abundant loving devotion.
And the
Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away;
yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
the
Sabeans swooped down and took them away. They put the servants to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an
abomination unto me; the new moons and
sabbaths, the calling of
assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Bring your worthless offerings no more; your incense is
detestable to Me— your New Moons,
Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot
endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.
Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and
merchandise of
Ethiopia and of the
Sabeans, men of
stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make
supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
This is what the LORD says: “The products of Egypt and the
merchandise of
Cush, along with the
Sabeans, men of
stature, will come over to you and will be yours; they will
trudge behind you; they will come over in chains and bow down to you. They will
confess to you: ‘God is indeed with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.’”
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the
sabbath from
polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the
Sabbath without
profaning it and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
For this is what the LORD says: “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, who choose what pleases Me and hold fast to My covenant—
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the
sabbath from
polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD to minister to Him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be His servants— all who keep the
Sabbath without
profaning it and who hold fast to My covenant—
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD; Take
heed to
yourselves, and bear no burden on the
sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
This is what the LORD says: Take
heed for
yourselves; do not carry a load or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem on the
Sabbath day.
Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the
sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but
hallow ye the
sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
You must not carry a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath day, but you must keep the Sabbath day holy, just as I commanded your forefathers.
And it shall come to pass, if ye
diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the
sabbath day, but
hallow the
sabbath day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the
Sabbath day, and keep the
Sabbath day holy, and do no work on it,
But if ye will not
hearken unto me to
hallow the
sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the
sabbath day; then will I
kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.
But if you do not
listen to Me to keep the
Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the
Sabbath day, then I will
kindle an
unquenchable fire in its gates to
consume the citadels of Jerusalem.’”
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her
affliction and of her
miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the
adversaries saw her, and did
mock at her
sabbaths.
In the days of her
affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands she received no help. Her enemies looked upon her,
laughing at her
downfall.
And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and
sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden
booth; He has destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed feasts and
Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
Moreover also I gave them my
sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that
sanctify them.
I also gave them My Sabbaths as a sign between us, so that they would know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they
despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my
sabbaths they greatly
polluted: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them in the wilderness, to
consume them.
Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not follow My statutes and they rejected My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they utterly
profaned My
Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and put an end to them in the wilderness.
Because they
despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but
polluted my
sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
because they kept
rejecting My ordinances, refusing to walk in My statutes, and
profaning My
Sabbaths; for their hearts continually went after their idols.
And
hallow my
sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
Keep My Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us, so that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they
polluted my
sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them, to
accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they
profaned My
Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the wilderness.
Because they had not executed my judgments, but had
despised my statutes, and had
polluted my
sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.
For they did not practice My ordinances, but they rejected My statutes and
profaned My
Sabbaths, fixing their eyes on the idols of their fathers.
Her priests have
violated my law, and have
profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and
profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have
hid their eyes from my
sabbaths, and I am
profaned among them.
Her priests do violence to My law and
profane My holy things. They make no distinction between the holy and the common, and they fail to distinguish between the clean and the unclean. They disregard My
Sabbaths, so that I am
profaned among them.
Moreover this they have done unto me: they have
defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have
profaned my
sabbaths.
They have also done this to Me: On that very same day, they
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My
Sabbaths.
And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought
Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
accompanied by the sound of a carefree crowd. Drunkards were brought in from the desert along with men from the
rabble, who put bracelets on your wrists and beautiful crowns on your head.
And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine
assemblies; and they shall
hallow my
sabbaths.
In any dispute, they shall
officiate as judges and judge according to My ordinances. They must keep My laws and statutes regarding all My appointed feasts, and they must keep My
Sabbaths holy.
And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the
sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the feasts, New Moons, and
Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
“This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘The gate of the inner court that faces east must be kept shut during the six days of work, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
On the
Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are also to bow in worship before the LORD at the entrance to that
gateway.
And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the
sabbath day shall be six lambs without
blemish, and a ram without
blemish.
The burnt offering that the prince presents to the LORD on the
Sabbath day shall be six
unblemished male lambs and an
unblemished ram.
Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings
voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the
sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
When the prince makes a
freewill offering to the LORD, whether a burnt offering or a peace offering, the gate facing east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or peace offering just as he does on the
Sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and the gate must be closed after he goes out.
I will also cause all her
mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her
sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.
I will put an end to all her
exultation: her feasts, New Moons, and
Sabbaths— all her appointed feasts.
And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the
Sabeans—to a distant nation.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the
sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the
ephah small, and the
shekel great, and
falsifying the balances by
deceit?
asking, “When will the New Moon be over, that we may sell grain? When will the
Sabbath end, that we may market wheat? Let us reduce the
ephah and increase the
shekel; let us
cheat with
dishonest scales.
At that time Jesus went on the
sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an
hungred, and began to
pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the
Sabbath. His disciples were
hungry and began to
pick the heads of grain and eat them.
But when the
Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the
sabbath day.
When the
Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the
Sabbath.”
Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the
sabbath days the priests in the temple
profane the
sabbath, and are
blameless?
Or
haven’t you read in the Law that on the
Sabbath the priests in the temple break the
Sabbath and yet are innocent?
