Thou shalt not
avenge, nor bear any
grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself: I am the LORD.
Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle
gender with a
diverse kind: thou shalt not
sow thy field with mingled
seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
You are to keep My statutes. You shall not
crossbreed two different kinds of
livestock; you shall not
sow your fields with two kinds of
seed; and you shall not wear clothing made of two kinds of material.
Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither
seek after wizards, to be
defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
You must not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not
seek them out, or you will be
defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel,
Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his
seed unto
Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any
Israelite or foreigner living in Israel who gives any of his children to
Molech must be put to death. The people of the land are to stone him.
And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his
seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his
seed unto
Molech, and kill him not:
And if the people of the land ever hide their eyes and fail to put to death the man who gives one of his children to
Molech,
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
Neither shall he
profane his
seed among his people: for I the LORD do
sanctify him.
so that he does not
defile his offspring among his people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”
Speak unto Aaron, saying,
Whosoever he be of thy
seed in their generations that hath any
blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
“Say to Aaron, ‘For the generations to come, none of your descendants who has a physical defect may approach to offer the food of his God.
No man that hath a
blemish of the
seed of Aaron the priest shall come
nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a
blemish; he shall not come
nigh to offer the bread of his God.
No
descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to present the offerings made by fire to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he is not to come near to offer the food of his God.
Say unto them,
Whosoever he be of all your
seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel
hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
Tell them that for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites
consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
What man
soever of the
seed of Aaron is a
leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And
whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose
seed goeth from him;
I also will do this unto you; I will even
appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning
ague, that shall
consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall
sow your
seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
then this is what I will do to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that will destroy your sight and
drain your life. You will
sow your
seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
And if a man shall
sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy
estimation shall be according to the
seed thereof: an homer of barley
seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.
If a man consecrates to the LORD a
parcel of his land, then your
valuation shall be proportional to the
seed required for it—fifty shekels of silver for every homer of barley
seed.
And all the
tithe of the land, whether of the
seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
Thus any
tithe from the land, whether from the
seed of the land or the fruit of the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
But the Kohathites are not to go in and look at the holy objects, even for a moment, or they will die.”
And if the woman be not
defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive
seed.
But if the woman has not
defiled herself and is clean, she will be unaffected and able to conceive children.
All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the
husk.
All the days of his separation, he is not to eat anything that comes from the
grapevine, not even the
seeds or skins.
And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
So they set out on a three-day journey from the mountain of the LORD, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD traveling
ahead of them for those three days to
seek a resting place for them.
But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this
manna, before our eyes.
But now our
appetite is gone; there is nothing to
see but this
manna!”
Now the
manna resembled
coriander seed, and its appearance was like that of gum resin.
And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not
see my
wretchedness.
If this is how You are going to treat me, please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not
see my own
wretchedness.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not My word will come to pass.”
With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
I speak with him face to face, clearly and not in
riddles; he
sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you unafraid to speak against My servant Moses?”
And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
See what the land is like and whether its people are strong or weak, few or many.
And there we saw the giants, the sons of
Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
We even saw the
Nephilim there—the descendants of
Anak that come from the
Nephilim! We
seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have
seemed the same to them!”
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art
seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been
seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
Because all those men which have
seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have
tempted me now these ten times, and have not
hearkened to my voice;
not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness—yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times—
Surely they shall not
see the land which I
sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that
provoked me
see it:
not one will ever
see the land that I
swore to give their fathers. None of those who have treated Me with contempt will
see it.
But my servant
Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land
whereinto he went; and his
seed shall possess it.
But because My servant
Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will
inherit it.
And it shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them;
seeing all the people were in ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be
forgiven, since it happened to all the people
unintentionally.
And it shall be unto you for a
fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye
seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a
whoring:
These will serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the commandments of the LORD, that you may obey them and not
prostitute yourselves by following your own heart and your own eyes.
And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you,
seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up
yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them, “You have taken too much upon
yourselves! For
everyone in the entire congregation is holy, and the LORD is in their midst. Why then do you
exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?”
Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel and brought you near to Himself to perform the work at the LORD’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?
And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
He has brought you near, you and all your fellow Levites, but you are seeking the priesthood as well.
To be a
memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the
seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as
Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
just as the LORD commanded him through Moses. This was to be a reminder to the Israelites that no outsider who is not a
descendant of Aaron should approach to offer incense before the LORD, lest he become like
Korah and his followers.
And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an
atonement for the people.
So Aaron took the
censer as Moses had ordered and ran into the midst of the assembly. And
seeing that the plague had begun among the people, he offered the incense and made
atonement for the people.
All the
heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy
seed with thee.
All the holy offerings that the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and to your sons and daughters as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you and your offspring.”
And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.
Why have you led us up out of Egypt to bring us to this
wretched place? It is not a place of grain, figs, vines, or pomegranates—and there is no water to drink!”
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.
“
See, I have come to you,”
Balaam replied, “but can I say just anything? I must speak only the word that God puts in my mouth.”
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that Balak took
Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of
Baal, that thence he might
see the utmost part of the people.
The next morning, Balak took
Balaam and brought him up to Bamoth-
baal. From there he could
see the outskirts of the camp of the people.
For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
For I
see them from
atop the rocky cliffs, and I watch them from the hills. Behold, a people dwelling apart, not
reckoning themselves among the nations.
And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest
see them: thou shalt
see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not
see them all: and
curse me them from thence.
Then Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place where you can
see them. You will only
see the outskirts of their camp—not all of them. And from there,
curse them for me.”
He hath not
beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he
seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the
shout of a king is among them.
He considers no
disaster for Jacob; He
sees no trouble for Israel. The LORD their God is with them, and the
shout of the King is among them.
And when
Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to
bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to
seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
And when
Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to
bless Israel, he did not resort to
sorcery as on previous occasions, but he turned his face toward the wilderness.
He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who
sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his
seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than
Agag, and his kingdom shall be
exalted.
Water will flow from his buckets, and his
seed will have abundant water. His king will be greater than
Agag, and his kingdom will be
exalted.
He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who
sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
I shall
see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not
nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall
smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of
Sheth.
I
see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come forth from Jacob, and a
scepter will arise from Israel. He will
crush the skulls of Moab and strike down all the sons of
Sheth.
And when
Phinehas, the son of
Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a
javelin in his hand;
On
seeing this,
Phinehas son of
Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, got up from the assembly, took a
spear in his hand,
And he shall have it, and his
seed after him, even the covenant of an
everlasting priesthood; because he was
zealous for his God, and made an
atonement for the children of Israel.
It will be a covenant of permanent priesthood for him and his descendants, because he was
zealous for his God and made
atonement for the Israelites.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.
And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was;
And he shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of
Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
He shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who will
seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the
Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”
Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.
“Command the Israelites and say to them:
See that you present to Me at its appointed time the food for My offerings by fire, as a pleasing
aroma to Me.
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to
inspect the land.
Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall
see the land which I
sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
‘Because they did not follow Me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty years of age or older who came out of Egypt will
see the land that I
swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—
Or with any stone,
wherewith a man may die,
seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his
harm:
or without looking drops a heavy stone that kills him, but he was not an enemy and did not intend to
harm him,
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD
sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their
seed after them.
See, I have placed the land before you. Enter and possess the land that the LORD
swore He would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants after them.”
And when we departed from
Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the
Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
And just as the LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from
Horeb and went toward the hill country of the
Amorites, through all the vast and
terrifying wilderness you have
seen. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
and the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
The plan seemed good to me, so I selected twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have
seen the sons of the Anakims there.
Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts
melt, saying: ‘The people are larger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the heavens. We even saw the descendants of the
Anakim there.’”
And in the wilderness, where thou hast
seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man
doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
and in the wilderness, where the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way by which you traveled until you reached this place.”
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to
shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation
see that good land, which I
sware to give unto your fathers,
“Not one of the men of this evil generation shall
see the good land I
swore to give your fathers,
Save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall
see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath
trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
except
Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will
see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land on which he has set foot, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.”
Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river
Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and
contend with him in battle.
“Arise, set out, and cross the
Arnon Valley.
See, I have delivered into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land. Begin to take possession of it and
engage him in battle.
And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest
inherit his land.
Then the LORD said to me, “
See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Now begin to
conquer and possess his land.”
And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have
seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms
whither thou passest.
And at that time I commanded Joshua: “Your own eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. The LORD will do the same to all the kingdoms you are about to enter.
I pray thee, let me go over, and
see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and
Lebanon.
Please let me cross over and
see the good land beyond the Jordan—that pleasant hill country as well as
Lebanon!”
Get thee up into the top of
Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
Go to the top of
Pisgah and look to the west and north and south and east.
See the land with your own eyes, for you will not cross this Jordan.
But charge Joshua, and
encourage him, and
strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to
inherit the land which thou shalt
see.
But commission Joshua,
encourage him, and
strengthen him, for he will cross over
ahead of the people and enable them to
inherit the land that you will
see.”
Your eyes have
seen what the LORD did because of
Baal-peor: for all the men that followed
Baal-peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Your eyes have
seen what the LORD did at
Baal-peor, for the LORD your God destroyed from among you all who followed
Baal of Peor.
Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land
whither ye go to possess it.
See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.
Only take
heed to
thyself, and keep thy soul
diligently, lest thou
forget the things which thine eyes have
seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Only be on your guard and
diligently watch
yourselves, so that you do not
forget the things your eyes have
seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.
And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
When you look to the heavens and
see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be
enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has
apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
And there you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
But if from there you will seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
Because He loved your fathers, He chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by His presence and great power,
And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have
seen this day that God
doth talk with man, and he liveth.
and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the fire.
Today we have
seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.
Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have
seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
The LORD also said to me, “I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked people.
Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.
Yet the LORD has set His affection on your fathers and loved them. And He has chosen you, their descendants after them, above all the peoples, even to this day.
He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
He is your praise and He is your God, who has done for you these great and
awesome wonders that your eyes have
seen.
And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not
seen the
chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
Know this day that it is not your children who have known and seen the discipline of the LORD your God: His greatness, His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm;
But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
For it is your own eyes that have seen every great work that the LORD has done.
And that ye may
prolong your days in the land, which the LORD
sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their
seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
and so that you may live long in the land that the LORD
swore to your fathers to give them and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.
For the land,
whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy
seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you
sowed your
seed and
irrigated on foot, like a vegetable garden.
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a
curse;
See,
today I am setting before you a blessing and a
curse—
But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his
habitation shall ye
seek, and thither thou shalt come:
Instead, you must seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to establish as a dwelling for His Name, and there you must go.
Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man
whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
You are not to do as we are doing here
today, where
everyone does what
seems right in his own eyes.
Take
heed to
thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou
seest:
Be careful not to offer your burnt offerings in just any place you see;
What thing
soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add
thereto, nor diminish from it.
See that you do everything I command you; do not add to it or
subtract from it.
Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an
alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
You are not to eat any
carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Thou shalt truly
tithe all the increase of thy
seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
It shall not
seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double
hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all that thou doest.
Do not regard it as a
hardship to set your servant free, because his six years of service were worth twice the wages of a
hired hand. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all you do.
And there shall be no
leavened bread
seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
No
