And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they
hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
“Do you intend to reign over us?” his brothers asked. “Will you actually rule us?” So they
hated him even more because of his dream and his
statements.
And they said, The man asked us straitly of our
state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the
tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
They replied, “The man questioned us in detail about ourselves and our family: ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?’ And we answered him accordingly. How could we possibly know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother here’?”
And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at
daybreak the sea returned to its normal
state. As the Egyptians were retreating, the LORD swept them into the sea.
Say unto them,
Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel
hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
Tell them that for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a
state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites
consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the
brooks of
Arnon,
Therefore it is
stated in the Book of the Wars of the LORD: “Waheb in Suphah and the wadis of the
Arnon,
And when he that
doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
When someone flees to one of these cities, stands at the entrance of the city gate, and states his case before its elders, they are to bring him into the city and give him a place to live among them.
And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.
So now I have just one request of you; do not deny me.” “State your request,” she told him.
And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have
therewith sent
Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his
leprosy.
And the letter that he took to the king of Israel
stated: “With this letter I am sending my servant
Naaman, so that you may cure him of his
leprosy.”
And there came a writing to him from
Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of
Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of
Asa king of Judah,
Then a letter came to Jehoram from
Elijah the prophet, which
stated: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father
Jehoshaphat or of
Asa king of Judah,
So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.
So the workmen labored, and in their hands the repair work progressed. They restored the house of God according to its specifications, and they
reinforced it.
And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being
diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the
state of the king.
Beverages were served in an
array of goblets of gold, each with a different design, and the royal wine flowed freely, according to the king’s
bounty.
Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even
Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the
state of the king.
Then the king held a great
banquet,
Esther’s
banquet, for all his officials and servants. He proclaimed a tax
holiday in the provinces and gave gifts worthy of the king’s
bounty.
Behold, thou hast made my days as an
handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee:
verily every man at his best
state is altogether vanity.
Selah.
You, indeed, have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing before You. Truly each man at his best exists as but a breath.
Selah He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
Be thou
diligent to know the
state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Be sure to know the state of your flocks, and pay close attention to your herds;
For the
transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the
state thereof shall be prolonged.
A land in rebellion has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
There be three things which go well,
yea, four are comely in going:
There are three things that are
stately in their
stride, and four that are impressive in their walk:
And upon all the ships of
Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.
against every ship of
Tarshish, and against every
stately vessel.
Take counsel together, and it shall come to
nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
Devise a plan, but it will be
thwarted;
state a proposal, but it will not happen. For God is with us.”
All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb.
And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.
I will remove you from office, and you will be
ousted from your position.
Put me in
remembrance: let us
plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
Remind Me, let us
argue the matter together.
State your case, so that you may be
vindicated.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no
stately form or majesty to
attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom
Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
The letter was entrusted to Elasah son of Shaphan and Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom
Zedekiah king of Judah sent to King
Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. It
stated:
When thy sisters,
Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.
And your sisters,
Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their former
state. You and your daughters will also return to your former
state.
And satest upon a
stately bed, and a table prepared before it,
whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.
You sat on a
couch of
luxury with a table spread before it, on which you had set My incense and My oil,
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final
plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”
Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
Jesus made this statement because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee
hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
Then He said to the tree, “May no one ever eat of your fruit again.” And His disciples heard this statement.
And the
scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
“Right, Teacher,” the
scribe replied. “You have
stated correctly that God is One and there is no other but Him,
For he hath regarded the low estate of his
handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
But they did not understand the statement He was making to them.
But they understood not this saying, and it was
hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
But they did not understand this
statement. It was
veiled from them so that they could not
comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final
plight of that man is worse than the first.”
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.
When
Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
When
Pilate heard this
statement, he was even more afraid,
Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
They were especially
grieved by his
statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
And they gave him
audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
The crowd
listened to Paul until he made this
statement. Then they lifted up their voices and
shouted, “Rid the earth of him! He is not fit to live!”
Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
Otherwise, let these men
state for themselves any crime they found in me when I stood before the
Sanhedrin,
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: “The Holy Spirit was right when He spoke to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:
For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and
Sarah shall have a son.
For this is what the promise
stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and
Sarah will have a son.”
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send
Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your
state.
Now I hope in the Lord Jesus to send
Timothy to you soon, that I also may be
cheered when I learn how you are doing.
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
I have
nobody else like him who will genuinely care for your needs.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in
whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content.
I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.
All my
state shall
Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a beloved brother, a faithful minister, and a fellow servant in the Lord.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Now the Spirit expressly
states that in later times some will
abandon the faith to follow
deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts.
God again designated a certain day as “
Today,” when a long time later He spoke through David as was just
stated: “
Today, if you hear His voice, do not
harden your hearts.”
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself, ye do well:
Smite by the
deceit of my lips the servant with the prince, and the prince with the servant: break down their
stateliness by the hand of a woman.
Seeing then we understand that this people alone is continually in opposition unto all men, differing in the strange manner of their laws, and evil affected to our state, working all the mischief they can that our kingdom may not be firmly established:
But they will maintain the state of the world, and all their desire is in the work of their craft.
For he saw that it was impossible that the
state should continue quiet, and Simon leave his folly, unless the king did look
thereunto.
To the end that, if any thing fell out contrary to expectation, or if any
tidings were brought that were
grievous, they of the land, knowing to whom the
state was left, might not be troubled:
For as long as
Judas liveth, it is not possible that the
state should be quiet.
But Alcimus, perceiving the love that was
betwixt them, and considering the covenants that were made, came to
Demetrius, and told him that Nicanor was not well affected toward the
state; for that he had ordained
Judas, a
traitor to his realm, to be the king’s successor.
