And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the
herb yielding seed, and the fruit
tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and
herb yielding seed after his kind, and the
tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every
herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every
tree, in the which is the fruit of a
tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
And the LORD God commanded him, “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden,
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
Now the serpent was more
subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman,
Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every
tree of the garden?
Now the serpent was more
crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any
tree in the garden?’”
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden,
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’”
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
When the woman saw that the
tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and
ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he
ate it.
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the
trees of the garden.
Then the man and his wife heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the
breeze of the day, and they
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the
trees of the garden.
And he said, Who told thee that thou
wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the
tree,
whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
“Who told you that you were naked?” asked the LORD God. “Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
And the man answered, “The woman whom You gave me, she gave me fruit from the
tree, and I
ate it.”
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast
hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the
tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it:
cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
And to Adam He said: “Because you have
listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the
tree of which I commanded you not to eat,
cursed is the ground because of you; through
toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil. And now, lest he reach out his hand and take also from the
tree of life, and eat, and live
forever...”
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of
Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the
tree of life.
So He drove out the man and stationed
cherubim on the east side of the Garden of
Eden, along with a
whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the
tree of life.
Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
Please say you are my sister, so that I will be
treated well for your sake, and on account of you my life will be
spared.”
And he
entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he
asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she
asses, and camels.
He
treated Abram well on her account, and
Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female
donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels.
And there came one that had escaped, and told
Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of
Mamre the Amorite, brother of
Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were
confederate with
Abram.
Then an escapee came and reported this to
Abram the Hebrew. Now
Abram was living near the Oaks of
Mamre the Amorite, a brother of
Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were bound by
treaty to
Abram.
And Sarai said unto
Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my
maid into thy
bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was
despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
Then Sarai said to
Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was
pregnant, she has
treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.”
But
Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy
maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
“Here,” said
Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai
treated Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.
Let a little water, I pray you, be
fetched, and wash your feet, and rest
yourselves under the
tree:
Let a little water be brought, that you may wash your feet and rest
yourselves under the
tree.
And he took butter, and milk, and the
calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the
tree, and they did eat.
Then Abraham brought curds and milk and the
calf that had been prepared, and he set them before the men and stood by them under the
tree as they
ate.
That be far from thee to do after this manner, to
slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
Far be it from You to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to
sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed
sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
“Get out of the way!” they replied. And they declared, “This one came here as a foreigner, and he is already acting like a judge! Now we will treat you worse than them.” And they pressed in on Lot and moved in to break down the door.
Then
Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I
offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
Then
Abimelech called Abraham and asked, “What have you done to us? How have I
sinned against you, that you have brought such
tremendous guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done.”
And Abraham planted a
grove in Beer-
sheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the
everlasting God.
And Abraham planted a
tamarisk tree in
Beersheba, and there he called upon the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.
And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before
Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the
trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure
So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near
Mamre, the cave that was in it, and all the
trees within the boundaries of the field were deeded over
And Isaac
trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken
venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him?
yea, and he shall be blessed.
Isaac began to
tremble violently and said, “Who was it, then, who
hunted the game and brought it to me? Before you came in, I
ate it all and blessed him—and indeed, he will be blessed!”
And Jacob took him rods of green
poplar, and of the
hazel and
chesnut tree; and
pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.
Jacob, however, took fresh branches of
poplar,
almond, and plane
trees, and
peeled the bark,
exposing the white inner wood of the branches.
And Jacob was
wroth, and
chode with
Laban: and Jacob answered and said to
Laban, What is my
trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?
Then Jacob became incensed and
challenged Laban. “What is my crime?” he said. “For what sin of mine have you so hotly pursued me?
And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an
harlot?
But they replied, “Should he have
treated our sister like a
prostitute?”
Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall
hang thee on a
tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and
hang you on a
tree. Then the birds will eat the flesh of your body.”
And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of
Canaan to
buy food.
And when Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he
treated them as strangers and spoke harshly to them. “Where have you come from?” he asked. “From the land of
Canaan,” they replied. “We are here to
buy food.”
And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my
sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?
“My silver has been returned!” he said to his brothers. “It is here in my
sack.” Their hearts
sank, and
trembling, they turned to one another and said, “What is this that God has done to us?”
And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you
treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought
Simeon out unto them.
“It is fine,” said the
steward. “Do not be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, gave you the
treasure that was in your sacks. I received your silver.” Then he brought
Simeon out to them.
So shall ye say unto Joseph,
Forgive, I pray thee now, the
trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I
beg you, please
forgive the
transgression and sin of your brothers, for they did you wrong.’ So now, Joseph, please
forgive the
transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph
wept.
Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to
afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh
treasure cities,
Pithom and Raamses.
So the Egyptians appointed taskmasters over the Israelites to
oppress them with forced labor. As a result, they built
Pithom and
Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.
Then the officers of the children of Israel came and
cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
So the
Israelite foremen went and appealed to Pharaoh: “Why are you
treating your servants this way?
And I will
sever in that day the land of
Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of
flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
But on that day I will give special
treatment to the land of
Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of
flies will be found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.
And the
hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the
hail smote every
herb of the field, and
brake every
tree of the field.
Throughout the land of Egypt, the
hail struck down everything in the field, both man and beast; it beat down every plant of the field and
stripped every
tree.
And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the
hail, and shall eat every
tree which groweth for you out of the field:
They will cover the face of the land so that no one can see it. They will
devour whatever is left after the
hail and eat every
tree that grows in your fields.
For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was
darkened; and they did eat every
herb of the land, and all the fruit of the
trees which the
hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the
trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
They covered the face of all the land until it was black, and they consumed all the plants on the ground and all the fruit on the
trees that the
hail had left behind. Nothing green was left on any
tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
Then the dukes of
Edom shall be
amazed; the mighty men of Moab,
trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of
Canaan shall
melt away.
Then the chiefs of
Edom will be dismayed;
trembling will seize the leaders of Moab; those who dwell in
Canaan will
melt away,
And he
cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a
tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an
ordinance, and there he proved them,
And Moses
cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a log. And when he cast it into the waters, they were
sweetened. There the LORD made for them a statute and an
ordinance, and there He tested them,
And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and
threescore and ten palm
trees: and they
encamped there by the waters.
Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the waters.
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, for He did this when they
treated Israel with
arrogance.”
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar
treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
Now if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, you will be My
treasured possession out of all the nations—for the whole earth is Mine.
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the
trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp
trembled.
On the third day, when morning came, there was
thunder and
lightning. A thick cloud was upon the mountain, and a very loud blast of the ram’s horn went out, so that all the people in the camp
trembled.
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the
trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood
afar off.
For all manner of
trespass, whether it be for ox, for
ass, for sheep, for
raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall
condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
In all cases of
illegal possession of an ox, a
donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any lost
item that someone claims, ‘This is mine,’ both parties shall bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges find guilty must pay back double to his
neighbor.
Take
heed to
thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land
whither thou goest, lest it be for a
snare in the midst of thee:
Be careful not to make a
treaty with the inhabitants of the land you are entering, lest they become a
snare in your midst.
And he shall bring his
trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath
sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a
kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an
atonement for him concerning his sin.
and he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD for the sin he has committed: a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering. And the priest will make
atonement for him concerning his sin.
And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his
trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
If, however, he cannot afford a lamb, he may bring to the LORD as
restitution for his sin two turtledoves or two young pigeons—one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
If a soul commit a
trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his
trespass unto the LORD a ram without
blemish out of the flocks, with thy
estimation by shekels of silver, after the
shekel of the sanctuary, for a
trespass offering:
“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins
unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram from the flock, of proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary
shekel; it is a guilt offering.
And he shall make
amends for the
harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part
thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him with the ram of the
trespass offering, and it shall be
forgiven him.
Regarding any holy thing he has
harmed, he must make
restitution by adding a fifth of its value to it and giving it to the priest, who will make
atonement on his behalf with the ram as a guilt offering, and he will be
forgiven.
And he shall bring a ram without
blemish out of the flock, with thy
estimation, for a
trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he
erred and
wist it not, and it shall be
forgiven him.
He is to bring to the priest an
unblemished ram of proper value from the flock as a guilt offering. Then the priest will make
atonement on his behalf for the wrong he has committed in ignorance, and he will be
forgiven.
It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty before the LORD.”
If a soul sin, and commit a
trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in
fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath
deceived his neighbour;
“If someone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by
deceiving his
neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or
stolen, or if he extorts his
neighbor Or all that about which he hath
sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more
thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his
trespass offering.
or anything else about which he has
sworn falsely. He must make
restitution in full, add a fifth of the value, and pay it to the owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.
Then he must bring to the priest his guilt offering to the LORD: an
unblemished ram of proper value from the flock.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be
forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in
trespassing therein.
In this way the priest will make
atonement for him before the LORD, and he will be
forgiven for anything he may have done to
incur guilt.”
It shall not be
baken with
leaven. I have given it unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire; it is most holy, as is the sin offering, and as the
trespass offering.
It must not be
baked with
leaven; I have assigned it as their portion of My offerings made by fire. It is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
Likewise this is the law of the
trespass offering: it is most holy.
“Now this is the law of the guilt offering, which is most holy:
In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the
trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he
sprinkle round about upon the altar.
The guilt offering must be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and the priest shall
sprinkle its blood on all sides of the altar.
And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a
trespass offering.
The priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD; it is a guilt offering.
As the sin offering is, so is the
trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh
atonement therewith shall have it.
The guilt offering is like the sin offering; the same law applies to both. It belongs to the priest who makes
atonement with it.
This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the
trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings;
This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the
ordination offering, and the peace offering,
And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a
trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD:
Then the priest is to take one of the male lambs and present it as a guilt offering, along with the log of olive oil; and he must wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.
And he shall
slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest’s, so is the
trespass offering: it is most holy:
Then he is to slaughter the lamb in the sanctuary area where the sin offering and burnt offering are slaughtered. Like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.
And the priest shall take some of the blood of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot:
The priest is to take some of the blood from the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the
trespass offering:
And the priest is to put some of the oil remaining in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.
And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a
trespass offering to be waved, to make an
atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;
If, however, the person is poor and cannot afford these offerings, he is to take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved to make
atonement for him, along with a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering, a log of olive oil,
And the priest shall take the lamb of the
trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD:
The priest shall take the lamb for the guilt offering, along with the log of olive oil, and wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.
And he shall kill the lamb of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the
trespass offering, and put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot:
And after he slaughters the lamb for the guilt offering, the priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the
trespass offering:
The priest shall also put some of the oil in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot—on the same places as the blood of the guilt offering.
And he shall bring his
trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a
trespass offering.
The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting as his guilt offering to the LORD.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for him with the ram of the
trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be
forgiven him.
The priest shall make
atonement on his behalf before the LORD with the ram of the guilt offering for the sin he has committed, and he will be
forgiven the sin he has committed.
And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of
trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as
uncircumcised: three years shall it be as
uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
When you enter the land and plant any kind of tree for food, you shall regard the fruit as forbidden. For three years it will be forbidden to you and must not be eaten.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as
thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You must
treat the foreigner living among you as native-born and love him as
yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they
profane not my holy name in those things which they
hallow unto me: I am the LORD.
“Tell Aaron and his sons to
treat with respect the sacred offerings that the Israelites have consecrated to Me, so that they do not
profane My holy name. I am the LORD.
Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of
trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do
sanctify them.
by allowing the people to eat the sacred offerings and thus to bear the punishment for guilt. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”
And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly
trees, branches of palm
trees, and the boughs of thick
trees, and willows of the
brook; and ye shall
rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
On the first day you are to gather the fruit of
majestic trees, the branches of palm
trees, and the boughs of
leafy trees and of willows of the
brook. And you are to
rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.
And as a yearly
hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.
He shall be
treated like a man
hired from year to year, but a foreign owner must not rule over him harshly in your sight.
Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
I will give you rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
and your strength will be spent in vain. For your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.
If they shall
confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their
trespass which they
trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
But if they will
confess their iniquity and that of their fathers in the unfaithfulness that they practiced against Me, by which they have also walked in hostility toward Me—
And all the
tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the
tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
Thus any
tithe from the land, whether from the seed of the land or the fruit of the
trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a
trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
“Tell the Israelites that when a man or woman acts unfaithfully against the LORD by
committing any sin against another, that person is guilty
Then they shall
confess their sin which they have done: and he shall
recompense his
trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath
trespassed.
and must
confess the sin he has committed. He must make full
restitution, add a fifth to its value, and give all this to the one he has wronged.
But if the man has no relative to whom
restitution can be made for the wrong, the
restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of
atonement, by which the
atonement is made for him.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man’s wife go aside, and commit a
trespass against him,
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if any man’s wife goes
astray and is unfaithful to him
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her people.
All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine
tree, from the kernels even to the
husk.
All the days of his separation, he is not to eat anything that comes from the
grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.
And he shall
consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a
trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was
defiled.
He must rededicate his time of separation to the LORD and bring a year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. But the preceding days shall not be counted, because his separation was
defiled.
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
Then Moses said to Hobab, the son of Moses’ father-in-law Reuel the Midianite, “We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said: ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”
And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my
wretchedness.
If this is how You are going to
treat me, please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own
wretchedness.”
And what the land is, whether it be fat or
lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there
trees in it or not? Be
courageous, and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people
provoke me? and how long will it be
ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?
And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this people
treat Me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in Me,
despite all the signs I have performed among them?
