thirtieth year of

While all this was happening, I was not in Jerusalem, because I had returned to
Artaxerxes king of Babylon in the thirty-second year of his reign. Some time later I obtained leave from the king
In those days, while
Mordecai sat in the king’s gate,
two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were
wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king
Ahasuerus.
And it was found written, that
Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh,
two of the king’s chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king
Ahasuerus.
And there it was found recorded that
Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh,
two of the eunuchs who guarded the king’s entrance, when they had
conspired to
assassinate King

shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

travail and
vexation of spirit.

Come back, come back, O Shulammite! Come back, come back, that we may
gaze upon you. Why do you look at the Shulammite, as on the dance of
Mahanaim?

vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof

twain he covered his face, and with
twain he covered his feet, and with
twain he did fly.

two they covered their feet, and with
two they were flying.

heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be
fainthearted for the
two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
and say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Do not be afraid or
disheartened over these
two smoldering stubs of
firewood—over the fierce anger of Rezin and
Aram and of the son of Remaliah.
For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be
forsaken of both her kings.
For before the boy knows enough to
reject evil and choose good, the land of the
two kings you
dread will be laid waste.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall
nourish a young cow, and
two sheep;
On that day a man will raise a young cow and two sheep,
Yet
gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the
shaking of an olive tree,
two or three
berries in the top of the
uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
Yet gleanings will remain, like an olive tree that has been beaten—
two or three
berries atop the tree, four or five on its fruitful branches,” declares the LORD, the God of Israel.
Ye made also a
ditch between the
two walls for the water of the old
pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
You built a
reservoir between the walls for the waters of the ancient
pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or consider Him who
planned it long ago.
Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!
Thus saith the LORD to his
anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have
holden, to
subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the
two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
This is what the LORD says to Cyrus His
anointed, whose right hand I have
grasped to
subdue nations before him, to disarm kings, to open the doors before him, so that the gates will not be shut:
But these
two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and
widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy
sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
These
two things will overtake you in a moment, in a single day: loss of children, and
widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many
sorceries and the
potency of your spells.
These
two things are come unto thee; who shall be
sorry for thee?
desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?
For my people have committed
two evils; they have
forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and
hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
“For My people have committed
two evils: They have
forsaken Me, the fountain of living water, and they have
dug their own cisterns— broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
Turn, O
backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and
two of a family, and I will bring you to
Zion:
“Return, O faithless children,” declares the LORD, “for I am your master, and I will take you—one from a city and
two from a family—and bring you to
Zion.
The LORD shewed me, and, behold,
two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away
captive Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
After
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, as well as the officials of Judah and the
craftsmen and metalsmiths from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon, the LORD showed me
two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the LORD.
Within
two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:
Within
two years I will restore to this place all the articles of the house of the LORD that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and carried to Babylon.
And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of
two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
And in the presence of all the people Hananiah proclaimed, “This is what the LORD says: ‘In this way, within
two years I will break the yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon off the neck of all the nations.’” At this, Jeremiah the prophet went on his way.
Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The
two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have
despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
“Have you not noticed what these people are saying: ‘The LORD has rejected the
two families He had chosen’? So they
despise My people and no longer regard them as a nation.
And I will give the men that have
transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the
calf in
twain, and passed between the parts thereof,
And those who have
transgressed My covenant and have not fulfilled the terms of the covenant they made before Me, I will treat like the
calf they cut in
two in order to pass between its pieces.
And it came to pass, that when
Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate
betwixt the
two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
When
Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the
two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.
Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
The
two pillars, one sea, and twelve
brasen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, the twelve bronze bulls under it, and the movable stands that King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
In the
eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away
captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and
two persons:
Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
Such were their faces. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching the wings of the creature on either side, and two wings covering its body.
And under the
firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had
two, which covered on this side, and every one had
two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
And under the
expanse, their wings stretched out toward one another. Each one also had
two wings covering its body.
Thou therefore, son of man,
prophesy, and
smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.
‘So then, son of man,
prophesy and strike your hands together. Let the sword strike
two times, even three. It is a sword that slays, a sword of great slaughter closing in on every side!
Also, thou son of man,
appoint thee
two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both
twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.
“Now you, son of man, mark out
two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same land. And make a
signpost where the road branches off to each city.
For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the
two ways, to use
divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.
For the king of Babylon stands at the
fork in the road, at the junction of the
two roads, to seek an
omen: He shakes the arrows, he consults the idols, he examines the liver.
Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:
“Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother,
Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:
Because you have said, ‘These two nations and countries will be ours, and we will possess them,’ even though the LORD was there,
And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. Then they will no longer be two nations and will never again be divided into two kingdoms.
Then measured he the
porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof,
two cubits; and the
porch of the gate was inward.
it was eight cubits deep, and its jambs were
two cubits thick. And the
portico of the
gateway faced the temple.
And in the
porch of the gate were
two tables on this side, and
two tables on that side, to
slay thereon the burnt offering and the sin offering and the
trespass offering.
Inside the
portico of the
gateway were
two tables on each side, on which the burnt offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings were to be slaughtered.
And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were
two tables; and on the other side, which was at the
porch of the gate, were
two tables.
Outside, as one goes up to the entrance of the north
gateway, there were
two tables on one side and
two more tables on the other side of the gate’s
portico.
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two chambers, one beside the north gate and facing south, and another beside the south gate and facing north.
Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits.
And he went into the inner sanctuary and measured the side pillars at the entrance to be two cubits wide. The entrance was six cubits wide, and the walls on each side were seven cubits wide.
And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a
cherub and a
cherub; and every
cherub had
two faces;
were alternating carved
cherubim and palm trees. Each
cherub had
two faces:
The altar of wood was three cubits high, and the length thereof two cubits; and the corners thereof, and the length thereof, and the walls thereof, were of wood: and he said unto me, This is the table that is before the LORD.
There was an altar of wood three cubits high and two cubits square. Its corners, base, and sides were of wood. And the man told me, “This is the table that is before the LORD.”
And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.
Both the outer sanctuary and the inner sanctuary had double doors,
And the doors had
two leaves
apiece,
two turning leaves;
two leaves for the one door, and
two leaves for the other door.
and each door had
two swinging panels. There were
two panels for one door and
two for the other.
And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be
two cubits, and the breadth one
cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one
cubit.
The space from the
gutter on the ground to the lower
ledge shall be
two cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide. The space from the smaller
ledge to the larger
ledge shall be four cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide.
And one lamb out of the flock, out of
two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep shall be given from each flock of
two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
After he brought me through the entry, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north: and, behold, there was a place on the two sides westward.
Then the man brought me through the entrance at the side of the gate into the holy chambers facing north, which belonged to the priests, and he showed me a place there at the far western end
Thus saith the Lord GOD; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall
inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have
two portions.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “These are the boundaries by which you are to divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall receive two portions.
And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
And
Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about
threescore and
two years old.
and
Darius the
Mede received the kingdom at the age of sixty-
two.
The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I
beheld till the wings thereof were
plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
The first beast was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were
torn off and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on
two feet like a man, and given the mind of a man.
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a ram with two horns standing beside the canal. The horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one grew up later.
And he came to the ram that had
two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his power.
He came toward the
two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and
rushed at him with
furious power.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his
two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his
two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And he said unto me, Unto
two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.
He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.”
The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.
The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia.
