Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to
purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Some of the
wise will fall, so that they may be refined,
purified, and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
And they that be
wise shall
shine as the brightness of the
firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Then the
wise will
shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness will
shine like the stars
forever and ever.
Many shall be
purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the
wise shall understand.
Many will be
purified, made spotless, and refined, but the wicked will continue to act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the
wise will understand.
Who is
wise, and he shall understand these things?
prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the
wise men out of
Edom, and understanding out of the mount of
Esau?
In that day, declares the LORD, will I not destroy the
wise men of
Edom and the men of understanding in the mountains of
Esau?
And
Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very
wise.
and also against
Hamath, which borders it, as well as Tyre and
Sidon, though they are very
shrewd.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this
wise: When as his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was
pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Now when Jesus was born in
Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came
wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
After Jesus was born in
Bethlehem in
Judea, during the time of King Herod,
Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
Then Herod, when he had
privily called the
wise men, enquired of them
diligently what time the star appeared.
Then Herod called the
Magi secretly and learned from them the exact time the star had appeared.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was
mocked of the
wise men, was exceeding
wroth, and sent forth, and
slew all the children that were in
Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had
diligently enquired of the
wise men.
When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the
Magi, he was filled with
rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in
Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the
Magi.
For
verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one
jot or one
tittle shall in no
wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single
jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will
liken him unto a
wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Therefore
everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a
wise man who built his house on the rock.
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of
wolves: be ye therefore
wise as serpents, and
harmless as doves.
Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among
wolves; therefore be as
shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
And
whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple,
verily I say unto you, he shall in no
wise lose his reward.
And if
anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”
At that time Jesus answered and said, I
thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast
hid these things from the
wise and
prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
“I will also ask you one question,” Jesus replied, “and if you answer Me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and
wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and
crucify; and some of them shall ye
scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute them from city to city:
Because of this, I am sending you prophets and
wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and
crucify, and others you will
flog in your synagogues and
persecute in town after town.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time?
And five of them were
wise, and five were
foolish.
Five of them were
foolish, and five were
wise.
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
But the wise ones took oil in flasks along with their lamps.
And the
foolish said unto the
wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
The
foolish ones said to the
wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
But the
wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and
buy for
yourselves.
‘No,’ said the
wise ones, ‘or there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and
buy some for
yourselves.’
And when Jesus saw that he answered
discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that
durst ask him any question.
When Jesus saw that the man had answered
wisely, He said, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one
dared to question Him any further.
But he spake the more
vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any
wise. Likewise also said they all.
But Peter kept
insisting, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.
In that hour Jesus
rejoiced in spirit, and said, I
thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast
hid these things from the
wise and
prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
At that time Jesus
rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the
wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and
wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and
wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?
And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of
infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no
wise lift up herself.
and a woman there had been disabled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was
hunched over and could not stand up straight.
And the lord
commended the unjust
steward, because he had done
wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation
wiser than the children of light.
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no
wise enter therein.
Truly I tell you,
anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away.
After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of
Tiberias; and on this
wise shewed he himself.
Later, by the Sea of
Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way:
And God spake on this
wise, That his seed should
sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into
bondage, and
entreat them evil four hundred years.
God told him that his descendants would be foreigners in a strange land, and that they would be
enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this
wise, I will give you the sure
mercies of David.
In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’
Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.
‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’”
I am
debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the
wise, and to the unwise.
Professing themselves to be
wise, they became fools,
Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools,
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin.
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this
wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall
ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will
ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down)
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest ye should be
wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the
fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
I do not want you to be ignorant of this
mystery, brothers, so that you will not be
conceited: A
hardening in part has come to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but
condescend to men of low estate. Be not
wise in your own conceits.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be
conceited.
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am
glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you
wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I
rejoice over you. But I want you to be
wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil.
To God only
wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever.
Amen.
to the only
wise God be glory
forever through Jesus Christ!
Amen.
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the
prudent.
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will
frustrate.”
Where is the
wise? where is the
scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made
foolish the wisdom of this world?
Where is the
wise man? Where is the
scribe? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made
foolish the wisdom of the world?
Because the
foolishness of God is
wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For the
foolishness of God is
wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth.
But God hath chosen the
foolish things of the world to
confound the
wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty;
But God chose the
foolish things of the world to shame the
wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a
wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man take
heed how he buildeth
thereupon.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an
expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds.
Let no man
deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be
wise in this world, let him become a
fool, that he may be
wise.
Let no one
deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is
wise in this age, he should become a
fool, so that he may become
wise.
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the
wise in their own
craftiness.
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the
wise in their
craftiness.”
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the
wise are
futile.”
We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are
wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are
despised.
We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.
I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you
wise enough to
arbitrate between his brothers?
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
I speak to reasonable people; judge for
yourselves what I say.
For we
dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that
commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not
wise.
We do not
dare to
classify or compare ourselves with some who
commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they show their ignorance.
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without,
redeeming the time.
Act
wisely toward outsiders,
redeeming the time.
Now unto the King eternal,
immortal, invisible, the only
wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
Now to the King eternal,
immortal, and invisible, the only God, be honor and glory
forever and ever.
Amen.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
For
somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this manner: “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.”
Who is a
wise man and
endued with knowledge among you? let him
shew out of a good conversation his works with
meekness of wisdom.
Who is
wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the
humility that comes from wisdom.
To the only
wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.
Amen.
to the only God our
Savior be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time, and now, and for all
eternity.
Amen.
And there shall in no
wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither
whatsoever worketh
abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor
anyone who practices an
abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Let every one of us speak a sentence: he that shall overcome, and whose sentence shall seem
wiser than the others, unto him shall the king
Darius give great gifts, and great things in
token of victory:
And said that, when the king is risen, some will give him the writings; and of whose side the king and the three princes of Persia shall judge that his sentence is the wisest, to him shall the victory be given, as was appointed.
Then said the king unto him, Ask what thou
wilt more than is appointed in the writing, and we will give it thee, because thou art found
wisest; and thou shalt sit next me, and shalt be called my cousin.
Who spake
wise sentences before
Darius the king of Persia in the second year of his reign, in the month
Nisan, which is the first month.
And teach them to the
wise of the people, whose hearts thou knowest may
comprehend and keep these secrets.
And when thou hast done, some things shalt thou
publish, and some things shalt thou
shew secretly to the
wise: to
morrow this hour shalt thou begin to write.
But keep the seventy last, that thou mayest deliver them only to such as be wise among the people:
Let not the wages of any man, which hath wrought for thee,
tarry with thee, but give him it out of hand: for if thou serve God, he will also repay thee: be
circumspect my son, in all things thou doest, and be
wise in all thy conversation.
Ask counsel of all that are
wise, and
despise not any counsel that is profitable.
And the
maid is fair and
wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from Rages we will
celebrate the marriage: for I know that Raguel cannot marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be guilty of death, because the right of inheritance
doth rather
appertain to thee than to any other.
For they shall see the end of the wise, and shall not understand what God in his counsel hath decreed of him, and to what end the Lord hath set him in safety.
But the multitude of the
wise is the
welfare of the world: and a
wise king is the upholding of the people.
God hath granted me to speak as I would, and to conceive as is meet for the things that are given me: because it is he that leadeth unto wisdom, and directeth the wise.
To whom hath the root of wisdom been revealed? or who hath known her wise counsels?
There is one wise and greatly to be feared, the Lord sitting upon his throne.
The heart of the
prudent will understand a parable; and an
attentive ear is the desire of a
wise man.
In no
wise speak against the truth; but be
abashed of the error of thine ignorance.
Say not, I have
sinned, and what
harm hath happened unto me? for the Lord is
longsuffering, he will in no
wise let thee go.
If thou love to hear, thou shalt receive understanding: and if thou bow thine ear, thou shalt be wise,
Stand in the multitude of the elders; and
cleave unto him that is
wise.
Forego not a
wise and good woman: for her grace is above gold.
Despise not the discourse of the
wise, but
acquaint thyself with their
proverbs: for of them thou shalt learn instruction, and how to serve great men with ease.
As near as thou canst,
guess at thy neighbour, and
consult with the
wise.
Let thy talk be with the wise, and all thy communication in the law of the most High.
For the hand of the
artificer the work shall be
commended: and the
wise ruler of the people for his speech.
A
wise judge will
instruct his people; and the government of a
prudent man is well ordered.
Unto the servant that is
wise shall they that are free do service: and he that hath knowledge will not
grudge when he is reformed.
When a rich man is fallen, he hath many helpers: he speaketh things not to be spoken, and yet men
justify him: the poor man
slipped, and yet they
rebuked him too; he spake
wisely, and could have no place.
A
wise man will fear in every thing, and in the day of
sinning he will
beware of offence: but a
fool will not observe time.
They that were of understanding in sayings became also
wise themselves, and poured forth
exquisite parables.
There is an
exquisite subtilty, and the same is unjust; and there is one that turneth aside to make judgment appear; and there is a
wise man that justifieth in judgment.
There is a reproof that is not comely: again, some man holdeth his tongue, and he is wise.
There is one that keepeth silence, and is found
wise: and another by much
babbling becometh
hateful.
A
wise man will hold his tongue till he see opportunity: but a
babbler and a
fool will regard no time.
A wise man by his words maketh him beloved: but the graces of fools shall be poured out.
A
wise sentence shall be rejected when it cometh out of a
fool’s mouth; for he will not speak it in due season.
