This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
But at the age of fifty, they must retire from performing the work and no longer serve.
And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of
Sinai, in the first month of the second
year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
In the first month of the second
year after Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of
Sinai:
Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a
year, that the cloud
tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining
thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
Whether the cloud
lingered for two days, a month, or longer, the Israelites camped and did not set out as long as the cloud remained over the tabernacle; but when it was lifted, they would set out.
And it came to pass on the
twentieth day of the second month, in the second
year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
On the
twentieth day of the second month of the second
year, the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle of the Testimony,
And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us.”
And they ascended by the south, and came unto
Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of
Anak, were. (Now
Hebron was built seven
years before Zoan in Egypt.)
They went up through the Negev and came to
Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of
Anak, dwelled. It had been built seven
years before Zoan in Egypt.
Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty
years old and upward, which have
murmured against me,
Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census,
everyone twenty
years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.
And your children shall
wander in the wilderness forty
years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
Your children will be
shepherds in the wilderness for forty
years, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.
After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a
year, shall ye bear your
iniquities, even forty
years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
In keeping with the forty days you
spied out the land, you shall bear your guilt forty
years—a
year for each day—and you will experience My
alienation.
And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
Also, if one person sins
unintentionally, he is to present a
year-old female goat as a sin offering.
How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians
vexed us, and our fathers:
how our fathers went down to Egypt, where we lived many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers,
Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.
“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by the houses of their fathers—all those twenty years of age or older who can serve in the army of Israel.”
Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.
“Take a census of the men twenty years of age or older, as the LORD has commanded Moses.” And these were the Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt:
And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.
And tell them that this is the offering made by fire you are to present to the LORD as a regular burnt offering each day: two
unblemished year-old male lambs.
And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:
On the Sabbath day, present two
unblemished year-old male lambs, accompanied by a grain offering of two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, as well as a drink offering.
And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot;
At the beginning of every month, you are to present to the LORD a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And their drink offerings shall be half an
hin of wine unto a
bullock, and the third part of an
hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an
hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the
year.
Their drink offerings shall be half a
hin of wine with each bull, a third of a
hin with the ram, and a quarter
hin with each lamb. This is the monthly burnt offering to be made at each new moon throughout the
year.
But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first
year: they shall be unto you without
blemish:
Present to the LORD an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished.
But ye shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year;
Present a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD,
And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; one young
bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first
year without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, you are to present a burnt offering of one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
But ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD for a sweet savour; one young
bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first
year; they shall be unto you without
blemish:
Present as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD a burnt offering of one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first
year; they shall be without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, you are to present an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the second day ye shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:
On the second day you are to present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the third day eleven bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first
year without
blemish;
On the third day you are to present eleven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the fourth day ten bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first
year without
blemish:
On the fourth day you are to present ten bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the fifth day nine bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:
On the fifth day you are to present nine bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the sixth day eight bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first
year without
blemish:
On the sixth day you are to present eight bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
And on the seventh day seven bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first
year without
blemish:
On the seventh day you are to present seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: one
bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first
year without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, you are to present an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a
year old, all
unblemished,
Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty
years old and upward, shall see the land which I
sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
‘Because they did not follow Me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty
years of age or older who came out of Egypt will see the land that I
swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—
And the LORD’S anger was
kindled against Israel, and he made them
wander in the wilderness forty
years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.
The anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He made them
wander in the wilderness forty
years, until the whole generation who had done evil in His sight was gone.
And Aaron the priest went up into mount
Hor at the commandment of the LORD, and died there, in the
fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.
At the LORD’s command, Aaron the priest
climbed Mount
Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the
fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.
And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three
years old when he died in mount
Hor.
Aaron was 123
years old when he died on Mount
Hor.
And it came to pass in the
fortieth year, in the
eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;
In the
fortieth year, on the first day of the
eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the LORD had commanded him concerning them.
For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Indeed, the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. The LORD your God has been with you these forty years, and you have lacked nothing.
And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the
brook Zered, was thirty and eight
years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD
sware unto them.
The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the
Brook of Zered was thirty-eight
years, until that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had
sworn to them.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Remember that these forty years the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness, so that He might humble you and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commandments.
Thy
raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty
years.
Your clothing did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
It is a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning to the end of the year.
Thou shalt truly
tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth
year by
year.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
At the end of three
years thou shalt bring forth all the
tithe of thine increase the same
year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.
At the end of every seven
years you must
cancel debts.
Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh
year, the
year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him
nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
Be careful not to
harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh
year, the
year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.
And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you must set him free.
It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double
hired servant to thee, in serving thee six
years: and the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all that thou doest.
Do not regard it as a
hardship to set your servant free, because his six
years of service were worth twice the wages of a
hired hand. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all you do.
Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household.
Each year you and your household are to eat it before the LORD your God in the place the LORD will choose.
Three times in a
year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:
Three times a
year all your men are to appear before the LORD your God in the place He will choose: at the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the LORD empty-handed.
That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may
prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
Then his heart will not be
exalted above his countrymen, and he will not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or to the left, in order that he and his sons may reign many
years over his kingdom in Israel.
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one
year, and shall
cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
If a man is newly married, he must not be sent to war or be pressed into any duty. For one year he is free to stay at home and bring joy to the wife he has married.
When thou hast made an end of
tithing all the
tithes of thine increase the third
year, which is the
year of
tithing, and hast given it unto the
Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
When you have finished laying aside a tenth of all your produce in the third
year, the
year of the
tithe, you are to give it to the
Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat and be filled within your gates.
And I have led you forty
years in the wilderness: your clothes are not
waxen old upon you, and thy
shoe is not
waxen old upon thy foot.
For forty
years I led you in the wilderness, yet your clothes and
sandals did not wear out.
And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
he said to them, “I am now a hundred and twenty years old; I am no longer able to come and go, and the LORD has said to me, ‘You shall not cross the Jordan.’
And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven
years, in the
solemnity of the
year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,
Then Moses commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of remission of debt, during the Feast of Tabernacles,
Remember the days of old, consider the
years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will
shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.
Remember the days of old; consider the years long past. Ask your father, and he will tell you, your elders, and they will inform you.
Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.
Surely You love the people; all the holy ones are in Your hand, and they sit down at Your feet; each receives Your words—
And Moses was an hundred and twenty
years old when he died: his eye was not
dim, nor his natural force
abated.
Moses was a hundred and twenty
years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, and his
vitality had not diminished.
For the children of Israel walked forty
years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD
sware that he would not
shew them the land, which the LORD
sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
For the Israelites had
wandered in the wilderness forty
years, until all the nation’s men of war who had come out of Egypt had died, since they did not obey the LORD. So the LORD
vowed never to let them see the land He had
sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
And the
manna ceased on the
morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel
manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of
Canaan that
year.
And the day after they had eaten from the produce of the land, the
manna ceased. There was no more
manna for the Israelites, so that
year they began to eat the crops of the land of
Canaan.
Now Joshua was old and
stricken in
years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and
stricken in
years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
Now Joshua was old and well along in years, and the LORD said to him, “You are old and well along in years, but very much of the land remains to be possessed.
Forty
years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
I was forty
years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
spy out the land, and I brought back to him an
honest report.
And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five
years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel
wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day
fourscore and five
years old.
Now behold, as the LORD promised, He has kept me alive these forty-five
years since He spoke this word to Moses, while Israel
wandered in the wilderness. So here I am
today, eighty-five
years old,
And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and
stricken in age.
A long time after the LORD had given Israel rest from all the enemies around them, when Joshua was old and well along in years,
And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and
stricken in age:
he summoned all Israel, including its elders, leaders, judges, and officers. “I am old and well along in years,” he said,
