And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into

preach the gospel unto them.

preach the gospel to them.
But the Jews which believed not, moved with
envy, took unto them certain
lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an
uproar, and
assaulted the house of
Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
The Jews, however, became
jealous. So they brought in some troublemakers from the marketplace, formed a
mob, and sent the city into an
uproar. They
raided Jason’s house in search of Paul and
Silas, hoping to bring them out to the people.
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;
whereof he hath given
assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to
everyone by raising Him from the dead.”

cried one thing, and some another: for the
assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
Meanwhile the
assembly was in
turmoil. Some were
shouting one thing and some another, and most of them did not even know why they were there.

Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go

aboard. He had arranged this because he was going there on foot.

That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye
assist her in
whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
Welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and
assist her with anything she may need from you. For she has been a great help to many people, including me.
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has
assigned to each his
role.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, along with the power of the Lord Jesus,
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.
But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so
ordain I in all churches.
Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has
assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is what I
prescribe in all the churches.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
But we will not
boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
We, however, will not
boast beyond our limits, but only within the field of influence that God has
assigned to us—a field that reaches even to you.
Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
I
assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie.
That their hearts might be comforted, being
knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full
assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the
mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
that they may be encouraged in heart,
knit together in love, and filled with the full riches of complete understanding, so that they may know the
mystery of God, namely Christ,
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction—just as you know we lived among you for your sake.
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be
ashamed.
Take note of
anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not
associate with him, so that he may be
ashamed.

whereof they
affirm.

confidently assert.
If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them
relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may
relieve them that are widows indeed.
If any believing woman has dependent widows, she must assist them and not allow the church to be burdened, so that it can help the widows who are truly in need.

assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
But as for you, continue in the things you have learned and firmly believed, since you know from whom you have learned them.
Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the
assembly.”
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence
stedfast unto the end;
We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.
And we desire that every one of you do
shew the same
diligence to the full
assurance of hope unto the end:
We want each of you to show this same
diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.
Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
let us draw near with a
sincere heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled to
cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Not
forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but
exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us
encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.

To the general
assembly and church of the
firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
in joyful
assembly, to the congregation of the
firstborn,
enrolled in heaven. You have come to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
For if there come unto your
assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly
apparel, and there come in also a poor man in
vile raiment;
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in
shabby clothes also comes in.
But was
rebuked for his iniquity: the
dumb ass speaking with man’s voice
forbad the madness of the prophet.
But he was
rebuked for his
transgression by a
donkey, otherwise without speech, that spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
And
hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall
assure our hearts before him.
And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will
assure our hearts in His presence:
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God
Almighty.
These are
demonic spirits that perform signs and go out to all the kings of the earth, to
assemble them for battle on the great day of God the
Almighty.

Armageddon.
And they
assembled the kings in the place that in Hebrew is called
Armageddon.
And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies
assembled to
wage war against the One seated on the horse, and against His army.
And shall go out to
deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth,
Gog and
Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
and will go out to
deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—
Gog and
Magog—to
assemble them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the
seashore.
And Jeconias, and Samaias, and
Nathanael his brother, and
Assabias, and Ochiel, and

The sons of Airus, the sons of Daisan, the sons of Noeba, the sons of Chaseba, the sons of Gazera, the sons of Azia, the sons of Phinees, the sons of Azare, the sons of Bastai, the sons of Asana, the sons of Meani, the sons of Naphisi, the sons of Acub, the sons of Acipha, the sons of Assur, the sons of Pharacim, the sons of Basaloth,
For we likewise, as ye, do obey your Lord, and do sacrifice unto him from the days of Azbazareth the king of the
Assyrians, who brought us
hither.
Did very carefully oversee the holy works, assisting the ancients of the Jews and governors of the temple.
For that he had turned the counsel of the king of
Assyria toward them, to
strengthen their hands in the works of the Lord God of Israel.
Of the sons of Banid,
Assalimoth son of Josaphias, and with him an hundred and
threescore men:
Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Esebrias, and Assanias, and ten men of their brethren with them:
So all they that were then moved at the word of the Lord God of Israel
assembled unto me, whilst I
mourned for the iniquity: but I sat still full of
heaviness until the evening sacrifice.
Because they understood the words wherein they were
instructed, and for the which they had been
assembled.
Woe be unto thee,
Assur, thou that hidest the unrighteous in thee! O thou wicked people, remember what I did unto
Sodom and Gomorrha;
Those are the ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the king, whom Salmanasar the king of
Assyria led away
captive, and he carried them over the waters, and so came they into another land.
Also the Carmanians
raging in wrath shall go forth as the wild boars of the wood, and with great power shall they come, and join battle with them, and shall waste a portion of the land of the
Assyrians.
And from the land of the
Assyrians shall the enemy
besiege them, and
consume some of them, and in their host shall be fear and
dread, and
strife among their kings.
Who in the time of Enemessar king of the
Assyrians was led

I
Tobit have walked all the days of my life in the ways of truth and justice, and I did many almsdeeds to my brethren, and my nation, who came with me to Nineve, into the land of the
Assyrians.
But before he died he heard of the destruction of Nineve, which was taken by Nabuchodonosor and
Assuerus: and before his death he
rejoiced over Nineve.
And there came unto him all they that dwelt in the hill country, and all that dwelt by Euphrates, and
Tigris and Hydaspes, and the plain of Arioch the king of the Elymeans, and very many nations of the sons of Chelod,
assembled themselves to the battle.
Then Nabuchodonosor king of the
Assyrians sent unto all that dwelt in Persia, and to all that dwelt westward, and to those that dwelt in
Cilicia, and Damascus, and Libanus, and Antilibanus, and to all that dwelt upon the sea coast,
But all the inhabitants of the land made light of the commandment of Nabuchodonosor king of the
Assyrians, neither went they with him to the battle; for they were not afraid of him:
yea, he was before them as one man, and they sent away his ambassadors from them without effect, and with disgrace.
And in the
eighteenth year, the two and
twentieth day of the first month, there was talk in the house of Nabuchodonosor king of the
Assyrians that he should, as he said,
avenge himself on all the earth.
And when he had ended his counsel, Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians called Holofernes the chief captain of his army, which was next unto him, and said unto him.
Then Holofernes went forth from the presence of his lord, and called all the governors and captains, and the officers of the army of Assur;
And he took camels and
asses for their carriages, a very great number; and sheep and oxen and goats without number for their provision:
Now the children of Israel, that dwelt in
Judea, heard all that Holofernes the chief captain of Nabuchodonosor king of the
Assyrians had done to the nations, and after what manner he had
spoiled all their temples, and brought them to
nought.
Then was it declared to Holofernes, the chief captain of the army of
Assur, that the children of Israel had prepared for war, and had shut up the passages of the hill country, and had fortified all the tops of the high hills and had laid impediments in the
champaign countries:
And when the
tumult of men that were about the council was ceased, Holofernes the chief captain of the army of
Assur said unto Achior and all the Moabites before all the company of other nations,
And they called together all the ancients of the city, and all their youth ran together, and their women, to the assembly, and they set Achior in the midst of all their people. Then Ozias asked him of that which was done.
And he answered and declared unto them the words of the council of Holofernes, and all the words that he had spoken in the midst of the princes of
Assur, and
whatsoever Holofernes had spoken proudly against the house of Israel.
And Ozias took him out of the assembly unto his house, and made a feast to the elders; and they called on the God of Israel all that night for help.
So the camp of the children of
Ammon departed, and with them five thousand of the
Assyrians, and they pitched in the valley, and took the waters, and the fountains of the waters of the children of Israel.
Then the children of
Esau went up with the children of
Ammon, and camped in the hill country over against Dothaim: and they sent some of them toward the south, and toward the east over against Ekrebel, which is near unto Chusi, that is upon the
brook Mochmur; and the rest of the army of the
Assyrians camped in the plain, and covered the face of the whole land; and their tents and carriages were pitched to a very great multitude.
Thus all the company of
Assur remained about them, both their
footmen,
chariots, and
horsemen, four and thirty days, so that all their vessels of water failed all the inhibitants of Bethulia.
Then all the people
assembled to Ozias, and to the chief of the city, both young men, and women, and children, and
cried with a loud voice, and said before all the elders,
God be judge between us and you: for ye have done us great injury, in that ye have not required peace of the children of Assur.
Then there was great
weeping with one consent in the midst of the
assembly; and they
cried unto the Lord God with a loud voice.
Now when she heard the evil words of the people against the governor, that they
fainted for lack of water; for
Judith had heard all the words that Ozias had spoken unto them, and that he had
sworn to deliver the city unto the
Assyrians after five days;
For, behold, the
Assyrians are multiplied in their power; they are
exalted with horse and man; they glory in the strength of their
footmen; they trust in shield, and
spear, and bow, and
sling; and know not that thou art the Lord that breakest the battles: the Lord is thy name.
Thus they went straight forth in the valley: and the first watch of the Assyrians met her,
Then went Bagoas from the presence of Holofernes, and came to her, and he said, Let not this fair
damsel fear to come to my lord, and to be honoured in his presence, and drink wine, and be
merry with us and be made this day as one of the daughters of the
Assyrians, which serve in the house of Nabuchodonosor.
So she took the head out of the
bag, and shewed it, and said unto them, behold the head of Holofernes, the chief captain of the army of
Assur, and behold the
canopy, wherein he did lie in his
drunkenness; and the Lord hath
smitten him by the hand of a woman.
And so soon as the morning shall appear, and the sun shall come forth upon the earth, take ye every one his weapons, and go forth every
valiant man out of the city, and set ye a captain over them, as though ye would go down into the field toward the watch of the
Assyrians; but go not down.
Then they shall take their armour, and shall go into their camp, and raise up the captains of the army of
Assur, and shall run to the tent of Holofernes, but shall not find him: then fear shall fall upon them, and they shall
flee before your face.
Then they called Achior out of the house of Ozias; and when he was come, and saw the head of Holofernes in a man’s hand in the assembly of the people, he fell down on his face, and his spirit failed.
But when the Assyrians saw them, they sent to their leaders, which came to their captains and tribunes, and to every one of their rulers.
When the captains of the Assyrians’ army heard these words, they rent their coats and their minds were wonderfully troubled, and there was a cry and a very great noise throughout the camp.
And the residue that dwelt at Bethulia, fell upon the camp of
Assur, and
spoiled them, and were greatly enriched.
Assur came out of the mountains from the north, he came with ten thousands of his army, the multitude
whereof stopped the torrents, and their
horsemen have covered the hills.
And the nations were those that were assembled to destroy the name of the Jews:
Therefore those days shall be unto them in the month
Adar, the
fourteenth and
fifteenth day of the same month, with an
assembly, and joy, and with
gladness before God, according to the generations for ever among his people.
And love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving
heed unto her laws is the
assurance of incorruption;
