exalted Your name

beset me behind
and before,
and laid thine hand upon me.

hem me in behind
and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.
If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the
uttermost parts of the sea;

dawn, if I settle by the
farthest sea,

even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

My substance was not
hid from thee, when I was made in secret,
and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was
woven together in the depths of the earth.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I

deceitfully; Your enemies take Your name in vain.

hate them, O LORD, that
hate thee?

grieved with those that rise up against thee?

hid a
snare for me,

practise wicked works with men that work iniquity:
and let me not eat of their
dainties.
Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their
delicacies.
Let the righteous
smite me; it shall be a kindness:
and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their
calamities.
Let the righteous man strike me; let his
rebuke be an act of loving devotion. It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked.
Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

and breaks up the soil, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of
Sheol.
