And without controversy great is the
mystery of
godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of
angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
By common confession, the
mystery of
godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was
vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by
angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.
I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the
elect angels, that thou observe these things without
preferring one before another, doing nothing by
partiality.
I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the
elect angels to maintain these principles without
bias, and to do nothing out of
partiality.
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
So He became as far superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is excellent beyond theirs.
For unto which of the
angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I
begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
For to which of the
angels did God ever say: “You are My Son;
today I have become Your Father”? Or again: “I will be His Father, and He will be My Son”?
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
And again, when God brings His
firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all God’s
angels worship Him.”
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire.”
But to which of the
angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy
footstool?
Yet to which of the
angels did God ever say: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a
footstool for Your feet”?
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Are not the
angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will
inherit salvation?
For if the word spoken by
angels was
stedfast, and every
transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
For if the message spoken by
angels was binding, and every
transgression and disobedience received its just punishment,
For unto the
angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come,
whereof we speak.
For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
Thou madest him a little lower than the
angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and
didst set him over the works of thy hands:
You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the
angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for
everyone.
For
verily he took not on him the nature of
angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.
But ye are come unto mount
Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of
angels,
Instead, you have come to Mount
Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to myriads of
angels Be not
forgetful to
entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained
angels unawares.
Do not neglect to show
hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained
angels without knowing it.
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, when they
foretold the things now
announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even
angels long to look into these things.
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.
For if God
spared not the
angels that
sinned, but cast them down to
hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
For if God did not
spare the
angels when they
sinned, but cast them deep into
hell, placing them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
Whereas
angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing
accusation against them before the Lord.
Yet not even
angels, though greater in strength and power,
dare to bring such
slanderous charges against them before the Lord.
And the
angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
And the
angels who did not stay within their own
domain but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to
shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and
signified it by his
angel unto his servant John:
This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John,
The
mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the
angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
This is the
mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand and of the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the
angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

angel of the church in
Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

blazing fire and whose feet are like polished bronze.
And unto the
angel of the church in
Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
“To the
angel of the church in
Sardis write: These are the words of the One who holds the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation for being alive, yet you are dead.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment; and I will not
blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will
confess his name before my Father, and before his
angels.
Like them, he who overcomes will be dressed in white. And I will never
blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will
confess his name before My Father and His
angels.
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the One who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.
And unto the
angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the
Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
To the
angel of the church in
Laodicea write: These are the words of the
Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the
Originator of God’s creation.
And I saw a strong
angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
And I saw a mighty
angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the
scroll?”
And I
beheld, and I heard the voice of many
angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many
angels and living creatures and elders
encircling the throne, and their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands.
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back its four winds so that no wind would blow on land or sea or on any tree.
And I saw another
angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he
cried with a loud voice to the four
angels, to whom it was given to
hurt the earth and the sea,
And I saw another
angel ascending from the east, with the seal of the living God. And he called out in a loud voice to the four
angels who had been given power to
harm the land and the sea:
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. And they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God,
And I saw the seven
angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven
trumpets.
And I saw the seven
angels who stand before God, and they were given seven
trumpets.
And another
angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden
censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
Then another
angel, who had a golden
censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
And the smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God from the hand of the angel.
And the
angel took the
censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an
earthquake.
And the seven
angels which had the seven
trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
And the seven
angels with the seven
trumpets prepared to sound them.
The first
angel sounded, and there followed
hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
Then the first
angel sounded his
trumpet, and
hail and fire mixed with blood were
hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, along with a third of the trees and all the green grass.
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
Then the second
angel sounded his
trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood,
And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
Then the third
angel sounded his
trumpet, and a great star burning like a
torch fell from heaven and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
And the fourth
angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was
smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was
darkened, and the day
shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
Then the fourth
angel sounded his
trumpet, and a third of the sun and moon and stars were struck. A third of the stars were
darkened, a third of the day was without light, and a third of the night as well.
And I
beheld, and heard an
angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice,
Woe,
woe,
woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the
trumpet of the three
angels, which are yet to sound!
And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, “
Woe!
Woe!
Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the
trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three
angels!”
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Then the fifth
angel sounded his
trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the
Abyss.
And they had a king over them, which is the
angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is
Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name
Apollyon.
They were ruled by a king, the
angel of the
Abyss. His name in Hebrew is
Abaddon, and in Greek it is
Apollyon.
And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
Then the sixth
angel sounded his
trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God
Saying to the sixth
angel which had the
trumpet, Loose the four
angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
saying to the sixth
angel with the
trumpet, “Release the four
angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”
And the four
angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to
slay the third part of men.
So the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.
And I saw another mighty
angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a
rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
Then I saw another mighty
angel coming down from heaven,
wrapped in a cloud, with a
rainbow above his head. His face was like the sun, and his legs were like pillars of fire.
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh
angel, when he shall begin to sound, the
mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh
angel, when he is about to sound his
trumpet, the
mystery of God will be fulfilled, just as He proclaimed to His servants the prophets.”
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the small
scroll that lies open in the hand of the
angel standing on the sea and on the land.”
And I went unto the
angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy
belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
And I went to the
angel and said, “Give me the small
scroll.” “Take it and eat it,” he said. “It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.”
And I took the little book out of the
angel’s hand, and
ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my
belly was bitter.
So I took the small
scroll from the
angel’s hand and
ate it; and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned bitter.
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the number of worshipers there.
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Then the seventh
angel sounded his
trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign
forever and ever.”
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his
angels fought against the
dragon; and the
dragon fought and his
angels,
Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his
angels fought against the
dragon, and the
dragon and his
angels fought back.
And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
But the
dragon was not strong enough, and no longer was any place found in heaven for him and his
angels.
And the great
dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and
Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his
angels were cast out with him.
And the great
dragon was
hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil and
Satan, the
deceiver of the whole world. He was
hurled to the earth, and his
angels with him.
And I saw another
angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to
preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Then I saw another
angel flying overhead, with the eternal gospel to
proclaim to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation and tribe and tongue and people.
And there followed another
angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication.
Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
And the third
angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his
forehead, or in his hand,
And a third
angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If
anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his
forehead or on his hand,
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his
indignation; and he shall be
tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy
angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
he too will drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be
tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy
angels and of the Lamb.
And another
angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy
sickle, and
reap: for the time is come for thee to
reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
Then another
angel came out of the temple, crying out in a loud voice to the One seated on the cloud, “
Swing Your
sickle and
reap, because the time has come to harvest; for the crop of the earth is ripe.”
And another
angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp
sickle.
Then another
angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp
sickle.
And another
angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and
cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp
sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp
sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
Still another
angel, with authority over the fire, came from the altar and called out in a loud voice to the
angel with the sharp
sickle, “
Swing your sharp
sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the vine of the earth, because its grapes are ripe.”
And the
angel thrust in his
sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
So the
angel swung his
sickle over the earth and gathered the grapes of the earth, and he threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath.
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Then I saw another great and
marvelous sign in heaven: seven
angels with the seven final plagues, with which the wrath of God is completed.
And the seven
angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts
girded with golden girdles.
And out of the temple came the seven
angels with the seven plagues, dressed in clean and bright linen and
girded with golden sashes around their chests.
And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
Then one of the four living creatures gave the seven
angels seven golden
bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives
forever and ever.
And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven
angels, “Go, pour out on the earth the seven
bowls of God’s wrath.”
And the first went, and poured out his
vial upon the earth; and there fell a
noisome and
grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
So the first
angel went and poured out his
bowl on the earth, and
loathsome,
malignant sores broke out on those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
And the second
angel poured out his
vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
And the second
angel poured out his
bowl into the sea, and it turned to blood like that of the dead, and every living thing in the sea died.
And the third
angel poured out his
vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
And the third
angel poured out his
bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they turned to blood.
And I heard the
angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and
wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
And I heard the angel of the waters say: “Righteous are You, O Holy One, who is and was, because You have brought these judgments.
And the fourth
angel poured out his
vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to
scorch men with fire.
Then the fourth
angel poured out his
bowl on the sun, and it was given power to
scorch the people with fire.
And the fifth
angel poured out his
vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they
gnawed their tongues for pain,
And the fifth
angel poured out his
bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was
plunged into darkness, and men began to
gnaw their tongues in
anguish And the sixth
angel poured out his
vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
And the sixth
angel poured out his
bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East.
And the seventh
angel poured out his
vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
Then the seventh
angel poured out his
bowl into the air, and a loud voice came from the throne in the temple, saying, “It is done!”
And there came one of the seven
angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come
hither; I will
shew unto thee the judgment of the great
whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Then one of the seven
angels with the seven
bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great
prostitute, who sits on many waters.
So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
And the
angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, where I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with
blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
And the
angel said unto me, Wherefore
didst thou
marvel? I will tell thee the
mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
“Why are you so
amazed?” said the
angel. “I will tell you the
mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the
whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
Then the
angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the
prostitute was seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.
And after these things I saw another
angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was
lightened with his glory.
After this I saw another
angel descending from heaven with great authority, and the earth was
illuminated by his glory.
And a mighty
angel took up a stone like a great
millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Then a mighty
angel picked up a stone the size of a great
millstone and cast it into the sea, saying: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be cast down, never to be seen again.
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage
supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Then the
angel told me to write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage
supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
And I saw an
angel standing in the sun; and he
cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather
yourselves together unto the
supper of the great God;
Then I saw an
angel standing in the sun, and he
cried out in a loud voice to all the birds flying overhead, “Come, gather together for the great
supper of God,
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Then I saw an
angel coming down from heaven with the key to the
Abyss, holding in his hand a great chain.
And there came unto me one of the seven
angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come
hither, I will
shew thee the
bride, the Lamb’s wife.
Then one of the seven
angels with the seven
bowls full of the seven final plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the
bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve
angels, and names written
thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
The city had a great and high wall with twelve gates inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, and twelve angels at the gates.
And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
The angel who spoke with me had a golden measuring rod to measure the city and its gates and walls.
And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
And he measured its wall to be 144 cubits, by the human measure the angel was using.
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his
angel to
shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Then the angel said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
And I am John, who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.
I Jesus have sent mine
angel to
testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.”
Then had I
pity upon your mournings, and gave you
manna to eat; so ye did eat
angels’ bread.
