purification be given them:
and let the king
appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom to

eunuch in charge of the women, and let them be given
beauty treatments.

beautiful; whom
Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

Mordecai had brought up Hadassah (that is,
Esther), the daughter of his uncle, because she did not have a father or mother. The young woman was lovely in form and appearance, and when her father and mother had died,
Mordecai had taken her in as his own daughter.
And the
maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for
purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

maid’s turn was come to go in to king
Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of
myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the
purifying of the women;)

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the
beauty of the LORD, and to
enquire in his temple.
One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to
gaze on the
beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the
beauty of
holiness.
When thou with rebukes
dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his
beauty to
consume away like a
moth: surely every man is vanity.
Selah.
So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
and the king will desire your beauty; bow to him, for he is your lord.
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount
Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
Beautiful in
loftiness, the joy of all the earth, like the peaks of Zaphon is Mount
Zion, the city of the great King.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their
beauty shall
consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Like sheep they are destined for
Sheol. Death will be their
shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in
Sheol, far from their lofty abode.
Out of
Zion, the perfection of
beauty, God hath
shined.
From
Zion, perfect in
beauty, God shines forth.
And let the
beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands—
yes, establish the work of our hands!
Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and
beauty fill His sanctuary.
O worship the LORD in the
beauty of
holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the
beauties of
holiness from the
womb of the morning: thou hast the
dew of thy youth.
Your people shall be willing on Your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy
splendor, from the
womb of the
dawn, to You belongs the
dew of Your youth.
For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will
beautify the
meek with salvation.
For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the
afflicted with salvation.
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
She will set a
garland of grace on your head; she will present you with a crown of
beauty.”
Lust not after her
beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Do not
lust in your heart for her
beauty or let her
captivate you with her eyes.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s
snout is a
beautiful woman who lacks
discretion.

splendor of the old.
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

beautiful treasure.
Favour is
deceitful, and
beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Charm is
deceptive and
beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
He has made everything
beautiful in its time. He has also set
eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot
fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end.
Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.
Your cheeks are beautiful with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels.
Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.
How
beautiful you are, my
darling! Oh, how very
beautiful! Your eyes are like doves.
My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
My beloved calls to me, “Arise, my
darling. Come away with me, my
beautiful one.
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender
grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
The fig tree ripens its figs; the
blossoming vines spread their
fragrance. Arise, come away, my
darling; come away with me, my
beautiful one.”
Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount
Gilead.
How
beautiful you are, my
darling— how very
beautiful! Your eyes are like doves behind your
veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats streaming down Mount
Gilead.
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
You are altogether
beautiful, my
darling; in you there is no
flaw.
What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou
dost so charge us?
How is your beloved better than others, O most beautiful among women? How is your beloved better than another, that you charge us so?
Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women?
whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee.
Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Which way has he turned? We will seek him with you.
Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners.
You are as
beautiful, my
darling, as Tirzah, as lovely as Jerusalem, as
majestic as troops with banners.
How
beautiful are thy feet with
shoes, O prince’s daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a
cunning workman.
How
beautiful are your
sandaled feet, O daughter of the prince! The curves of your thighs are like jewels, the
handiwork of a master.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be
stink; and instead of a
girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair
baldness; and instead of a stomacher a
girding of
sackcloth; and burning instead of
beauty.
Instead of
fragrance there will be a
stench; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of styled hair,
baldness; instead of fine clothing,
sackcloth; instead of
beauty, shame.
In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
On that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of Israel’s survivors.
And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the
beauty of the Chaldees’
excellency, shall be as when God overthrew
Sodom and
Gomorrah.
And Babylon, the
jewel of the kingdoms, the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans, will be overthrown by God like
Sodom and
Gomorrah.
The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to
stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
The LORD of Hosts
planned it, to
defile all its glorious
beauty, to disgrace all the
renowned of the earth.
Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious
beauty is a
fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
Woe to the
majestic crown of Ephraim’s drunkards, to the
fading flower of his glorious
splendor, set on the summit above the fertile valley, the pride of those overcome by wine.
And the glorious
beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a
fading flower, and as the
hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it
seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.
The
fading flower of his
beautiful splendor, set on the summit above the fertile valley, will be like a ripe fig before the summer harvest:
Whoever sees it will take it in his hand and
swallow it.
In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a
diadem of
beauty, unto the residue of his people,
On that day the LORD of Hosts will be a crown of glory, a
diadem of
splendor to the
remnant of His people,
Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Your eyes will see the King in His
beauty and behold a land that stretches
afar.
The
carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the
beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a
stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a
shrine.
Awake,
awake; put on thy strength, O
Zion; put on thy
beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the
uncircumcised and the unclean.
How
beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good
tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto
Zion, Thy God reigneth!
How
beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who
proclaim peace, who bring good
tidings, who
proclaim salvation, who say to
Zion, “Your God reigns!”
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no
beauty that we should desire him.
He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to
attract us, no
beauty that we should desire Him.
The glory of
Lebanon shall come unto thee, the
fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to
beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
To
appoint unto them that
mourn in
Zion, to give unto them
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be
glorified.
to
console the mourners in
Zion— to give them a crown of
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of
despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be
glorified.
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
Our holy and
beautiful temple, where our fathers praised You, has been burned with fire, and all that was
dear to us lies in ruins.
But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly
heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.
I have
likened the daughter of
Zion to a comely and delicate woman.
Though she is
beautiful and delicate, I will destroy the Daughter of
Zion.
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath
kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree,
beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty
roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
Egypt is like a very fair
heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north.
Egypt is a
beautiful heifer, but a
gadfly from the north is coming against her.
All ye that are about him,
bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the
beautiful rod!
And from the daughter of
Zion all her
beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
All the
splendor has departed from the Daughter of
Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; they lack the strength to
flee in the face of the hunter.
How hath the Lord covered the daughter of
Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the
beauty of Israel, and remembered not his
footstool in the day of his anger!
How the Lord has covered the Daughter of
Zion with the cloud of His anger! He has cast the glory of Israel from heaven to earth. He has abandoned His
footstool in the day of His anger.
All that pass by
clap their hands at thee; they hiss and
wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of
beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
All who pass by
clap their hands at you in
scorn. They hiss and
shake their heads at the Daughter of Jerusalem: “Is this the city that was called the perfection of
beauty, the joy of all the earth?”
As for the
beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their
detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.
His
beautiful ornaments they transformed into pride and used them to fashion their
vile images and
detestable idols. Therefore I will make these into something unclean for them.
I have caused thee to multiply as the
bud of the field, and thou hast increased and
waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou
wast naked and bare.
I made you
thrive like a plant of the field. You grew up and
matured and became very
beautiful. Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.
And I put a
jewel on thy
forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a
beautiful crown upon thine head.
I put a ring in your nose, earrings on your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head.
Thus
wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy
raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and
broidered work; thou
didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou
wast exceeding
beautiful, and thou
didst prosper into a kingdom.
So you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was made of fine linen, silk, and
embroidered cloth. You
ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You became very
beautiful and rose to be queen.
And thy
renown went forth among the heathen for thy
beauty: for it was perfect through my
comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Your fame spread among the nations on account of your
beauty, for it was perfect in the
splendor I bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.
But thou
didst trust in thine own
beauty, and playedst the
harlot because of thy
renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.
But because of your fame, you trusted in your
beauty and played the
harlot. You
lavished your favors on
everyone who passed by, and your
beauty was theirs for the asking.
Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy
beauty to be
abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.
At the head of every street you built your lofty shrines and
degraded your
beauty. With increasing
promiscuity, you spread your legs to all who passed by.
And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought
Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and
beautiful crowns upon their heads.
accompanied by the sound of a carefree crowd. Drunkards were brought in from the desert along with men from the
rabble, who put bracelets on your wrists and
beautiful crowns on your head.
And they shall make a
spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy
merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art
situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect
beauty.
Tell Tyre, who dwells at the
gateway to the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coasts, that this is what the Lord GOD says: You have said, O Tyre, ‘I am perfect in
beauty.’
Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.
Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders perfected your beauty.
The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they
hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy
beauty perfect.
Men of Arvad and Helech
manned your walls all around, and the men of Gammad were in your towers. They hung their shields around your walls; they perfected your
beauty.
Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the
beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall
defile thy brightness.
behold, I will bring foreigners against you, the most
ruthless of nations. They will draw their swords against the
beauty of your wisdom and will
defile your
splendor.
