Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart
fainted, for he
believed them not.
“Joseph is still alive,” they said, “and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt!” But Jacob was
stunned, for he did not
believe them.
And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not
believe me, nor
hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
Then Moses answered, “What if they do not
believe me or
listen to my voice? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
“This is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”
And it shall come to pass, if they will not
believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will
believe the voice of the latter sign.
And the LORD said, “If they refuse to
believe you or
heed the witness of the first sign, they may
believe that of the second.
And it shall come to pass, if they will not
believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not
believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”
And the people
believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their
affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
and they
believed. And when they heard that the LORD had attended to the Israelites and had seen their
affliction, they bowed down and worshiped.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you.” And Moses relayed to the LORD what the people had said.
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people
provoke me? and how long will it be
ere they
believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?
And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this people treat Me with contempt? How long will they refuse to
believe in Me,
despite all the signs I have performed among them?
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye
believed me not, to
sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust Me to show My
holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
But in spite of all this, you did not trust the LORD your God,
Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye
believed him not, nor
hearkened to his voice.
And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh-barnea, He said, “Go up and possess the land that I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You neither believed Him nor obeyed Him.
And Achish
believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to
abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
So Achish trusted David, thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter
stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant
forever.”
And the princes of the children of
Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to
spy it out, and to overthrow it?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really
believe he is showing respect for your father? Has not David instead sent his servants to
explore the city,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
Howbeit I
believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.
But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told to me. Your wisdom and prosperity have far exceeded the report I heard.
Notwithstanding they would not hear, but
hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not
believe in the LORD their God.
But they would not
listen, and they
stiffened their necks like their fathers, who did not
believe the LORD their God.
But the princes of the children of
Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to
spy out the land?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really
believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to
explore the land,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
Howbeit I
believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
But I did not believe the reports until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not half of the greatness of your wisdom was told to me. You have far exceeded the report I heard.
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth,
Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established;
believe his prophets, so shall ye
prosper.
Early in the morning they got up and left for the Wilderness of Tekoa. As they set out,
Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “Hear me, O people of Judah and Jerusalem.
Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be
upheld;
believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.”
Now therefore let not
Hezekiah deceive you, nor
persuade you on this manner, neither yet
believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
So now, do not let
Hezekiah deceive you, and do not let him mislead you like this. Do not
believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand!”
If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not
believe that he had
hearkened unto my voice.
If I summoned Him and He answered me, I do not
believe He would
listen to my voice.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He despairs of his return from darkness; he is marked for the sword.
If I
laughed on them, they
believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
If I
smiled at them, they did not
believe it; the light of my countenance was precious.
Wilt thou
believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy
barn?
Can you trust him to bring in your grain and gather it to your
threshing floor?
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and
rage: neither
believeth he that it is the sound of the
trumpet.
Trembling with excitement, he devours the distance; he cannot stand still when the ram’s horn sounds.
I had
fainted, unless I had
believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Still I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
because they did not
believe God or
rely on His salvation.
For all this they
sinned still, and
believed not for his
wondrous works.
In spite of all this, they kept on
sinning;
despite His wonderful works, they did not
believe.
Then
believed they his words; they
sang his praise.
Then they
believed His promises and
sang His praise.
Yea, they
despised the pleasant land, they
believed not his word:
They
despised the pleasant land; they did not
believe His promise.
I
believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly
afflicted:
I
believed, therefore I said, “I am greatly
afflicted.”
Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments.
The simple
believeth every word: but the
prudent man looketh well to his going.
The simple man
believes every word, but the
prudent man watches his steps.
When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
When he speaks
graciously, do not
believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart.
And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.’”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in
Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that
believeth shall not make
haste.
So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in
Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who
believes will never be
shaken.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
They have
belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
They have
lied about the LORD and said: “He will not do anything;
harm will not come to us; we will not see sword or famine.
For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt
treacherously with thee;
yea, they have called a multitude after thee:
believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.
Even your brothers— your own father’s household— even they have
betrayed you; even they have
cried aloud against you. Do not trust them, though they speak well of you.
And said unto him,
Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the
Ammonites hath sent
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to
slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam believed them not.
and said to him, “Are you aware that Baalis king of the
Ammonites has sent
Ishmael son of Nethaniah to take your life?” But Gedaliah son of
Ahikam did not
believe them.
The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have
believed that the
adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.
The kings of the earth did not
believe, nor any people of the world, that an enemy or a
foe could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
Then was the king exceeding
glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of
hurt was found upon him, because he
believed in his God.
The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den, and when Daniel was lifted out of the den, no wounds
whatsoever were found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
So the people of
Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on
sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
And the Ninevites
believed God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in
sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least.
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
“Look at the nations and observe— be utterly
astounded! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never
believe even if someone told you.
And Jesus said unto the
centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast
believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was
healed in the
selfsame hour.
Then Jesus said to the
centurion, “Go! As you have
believed, so will it be done for you.” And his servant was
healed at that very hour.
And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them,
Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him,
Yea, Lord.
After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you
believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “
Yes, Lord,” they answered.
But
whoso shall
offend one of these little ones which
believe in me, it were better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and that he were
drowned in the depth of the sea.
But if
anyone causes one of these little ones who
believe in Me to
stumble, it would be better for him to have a large
millstone hung around his neck and to be
drowned in the depths of the sea.
And all things,
whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
What was the source of John’s baptism? Was it from heaven or from men?” They
deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not
believe him?’
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye
believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots
believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it,
repented not afterward, that ye might
believe him.
For John came to you in a righteous way and you did not
believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not
repent and
believe him.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
At that time, if
anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not
believe it.
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
So if they tell you, ‘There He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
“He saved others, but He cannot save Himself. He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye, and
believe the gospel.
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near.
Repent and
believe in the gospel!”
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the
synagogue, Be not afraid, only
believe.
But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
“If You can?”
echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who
believes!”
And
straightway the father of the child
cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I
believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Immediately the boy’s father
cried out, “I do
believe; help my unbelief!”
And
whosoever shall
offend one of these little ones that
believe in me, it is better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
But if
anyone causes one of these little ones who
believe in Me to
stumble, it would be better for him to have a large
millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea.
For
verily I say unto you, That
whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall
believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have
whatsoever he saith.
“Truly I tell you that if
anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and has no doubt in his heart but
believes that it will happen, it will be done for him.
Therefore I say unto you, What things
soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall havethem.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
They
deliberated among themselves what they should answer: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not
believe him?’
And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
At that time if
anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not
believe it.
Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and
believe. And they that were
crucified with him
reviled him.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and
believe!” And even those who were
crucified with Him
berated Him.
And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
And when they heard that Jesus was alive and she had seen Him, they did not believe it.
And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.
And they went back and reported it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and
upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they
believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
Later, as they were eating, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and
rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not
believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.
He that
believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be
damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
And these signs will
accompany those who
believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely
believed among us,
Many have undertaken to
compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
And, behold, thou shalt be
dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou
believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”
Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
The seeds along the path are those who hear, but the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while
believe, and in time of
temptation fall away.
The seeds on rocky ground are those who hear the word and receive it with joy, but they have no root. They believe for a season, but in the time of testing, they fall away.
But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just
believe, and she will be
healed.”
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
They
deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why did you not
believe him?’
Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
“If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.
And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Then Jesus said to them, “O
foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to
believe all that the prophets have spoken!
And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
While they were still in disbelief because of their joy and
amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He came as a witness to
testify about the Light, so that through him
everyone might
believe.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—
Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
Jesus said to him, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.”
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in
Cana of
Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples
believed on him.
Jesus performed this, the first of His signs, at
Cana in
Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples
believed in Him.
When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the
passover, in the feast day, many
believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
While He was in Jerusalem at the
Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and
believed in His name.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
That
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
that
everyone who
believes in Him may have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that
everyone who
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
He that
believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.
Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but
whoever does not
believe has already been condemned, because he has not
believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
He that
believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that
believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.
Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
“Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
And many of the
Samaritans of that city
believed on him for the saying of the woman, which
testified, He told me all that ever I did.
Many of the
Samaritans from that town
believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
And many more believed because of his own word;
And many more believed because of His message.
And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
They said to the woman, “We now
believe not only because of your words; we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the
Savior of the world.”
Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
“Go,” said Jesus. “Your son will live.” The man took Jesus at His word and departed.
So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Then the father realized that this was the very hour in which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and all his household believed.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Truly, truly, I tell you,
whoever hears My word and
believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
