And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a
cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

cubit from the top, place a door in the side of the ark, and
build lower, middle, and upper decks.

build a family.”

Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother

And let us arise, and go up to
Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

And if thou
wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not
build it of
hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast
polluted it.

chisel on it, you will
defile it.

And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he
sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou
buildedst not,
And when the LORD your God brings you into the land He
swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that He would give you—a land with great and splendid cities that you did not
build,
Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses in which to dwell,
Thou shalt not plant thee a
grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou shalt make thee.
Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole next to the altar you will build for the LORD your God,
Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to
inherit, into three parts, that every
slayer may
flee thither.
You are to
build roads for
yourselves and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any
manslayer can
flee to these cities.
Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.
But you may destroy the trees that you know do not produce fruit. Use them to
build siege works against the city that is
waging war against you, until it falls.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.

violate her. You will
build a house but will not live in it. You will plant a
vineyard but will not enjoy its fruit.

adjured them at that time, saying,
Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and
buildeth this city
Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his
firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
At that time Joshua
invoked this solemn oath: “
Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and rebuilds this city,
Jericho; at the cost of his
firstborn he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”
Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What
trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have
builded you an altar, that ye might
rebel this day against the LORD?
“This is what the whole congregation of the LORD says: ‘What is this breach of faith you have committed
today against the God of Israel by turning away from the LORD and
building for
yourselves an altar, that you might
rebel against the LORD this day?
Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD’S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but
rebel not against the LORD, nor
rebel against us, in
building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.
If indeed the land of your inheritance is unclean, then cross over to the land of the LORD’s possession, where the LORD’s tabernacle stands, and take possession of it among us. But do not
rebel against the LORD or against us by
building for
yourselves an altar other than the altar of the LORD our God.
Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:
That is why we said, ‘Let us take action and build an altar for ourselves, but not for burnt offerings or sacrifices.
God
forbid that we should
rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to
build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.
Far be it from us to
rebel against the LORD and turn away from Him
today by
building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings, or sacrifices, other than the altar of the LORD our God, which stands before His tabernacle.”
And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
So I gave you a land on which you did not
toil and cities that you did not
build, and now you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’
And
build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second
bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the
grove which thou shalt cut down.
Then
build a proper altar to the LORD your God on the top of this
stronghold. And with the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down, take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering.”
And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like
Rachel and like Leah, which two did
build the house of Israel: and do thou
worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in
Bethlehem:
“We are witnesses,” said the elders and all the people at the gate. “May the LORD make the woman entering your home like
Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you be prosperous in Ephrathah and famous in
Bethlehem.
And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will
build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine
anointed for ever.
Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest. He will do whatever is in My heart and mind. And I will
build for him an
enduring house, and he will walk before My
anointed one for all time.
Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build for Me a house to dwell in?
In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why
build ye not me an house of
cedar?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to
shepherd My people Israel, ‘Why
haven’t you built Me a house of
cedar?’
He shall
build an house for my name, and I will
stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
He will
build a house for My Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom
forever.
For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.
For You, O LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant when You said, ‘I will build a house for you.’ Therefore Your servant has found the courage to offer this prayer to You.
And
Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
And that day
Gad came to David and said to him, “Go up and
build an altar to the LORD on the
threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To
buy the threshingfloor of thee, to
build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
“Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” Araunah said. “To
buy your
threshing floor,” David replied, “that I may
build an altar to the LORD, so that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him,
Build thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any
whither.
Then the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “
Build a house for
yourself in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go
anywhere else.
And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
Later, Solomon formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his palace and the house of the LORD, as well as the wall around Jerusalem.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to the wars
waged on all sides against my father David, he could not
build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’
And Solomon’s
builders and
Hiram’s
builders did
hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to
build the house.
So Solomon’s and
Hiram’s
builders, along with the Gebalites,
quarried the stone and prepared the timber and stone for the construction of the temple.
And it came to pass in the four hundred and
eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month
Zif, which is the second month, that he began to
build the house of the LORD.
In the four hundred and
eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, in the month of Ziv, the second month of the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, he began to
build the house of the LORD.
And the house, when it was in
building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor
axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in
building.
The temple was constructed using finished stones cut at the
quarry, so that no hammer or
chisel or any other iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built.
Concerning this house which thou art in
building, if thou
wilt walk in my statutes, and
execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
“As for this temple you are
building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will
fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David.
And in the
eleventh year, in the month
Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in
building it.
In his
eleventh year and eighth month, the month of
Bul, the temple was finished in every detail and according to every
specification. So he built the temple in seven years.
But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.
Solomon, however, took thirteen years to complete the construction of his entire palace.
All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of
hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the
coping, and so on the outside toward the great court.
All these
buildings were constructed with costly stones, cut to size and
trimmed with saws inside and out from the foundation to the
eaves, and from the outside to the great
courtyard.
Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
‘Since the day I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there. But I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to
build an house unto my name, thou
didst well that it was in thine heart.
But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.
Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.
Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
But will God indeed dwell upon the earth? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.
Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,
Now when Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and had achieved all that he had desired to do,
And this is the reason of the
levy which king Solomon raised; for to
build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and
Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and
Megiddo, and
Gezer.
This is the account of the forced labor that King Solomon imposed to
build the house of the LORD, his own palace, the supporting terraces, and the wall of Jerusalem, as well as Hazor,
Megiddo, and
Gezer.
And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his
chariots, and cities for his
horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to
build in Jerusalem, and in
Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
as well as all the store cities that Solomon had for his
chariots and horses—whatever he desired to
build in Jerusalem,
Lebanon, and throughout the land of his dominion.
But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he
build Millo.
As soon as Pharaoh’s daughter had come up from the City of David to the palace that Solomon had built for her, he built the supporting terraces.
And it shall be, if thou
wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and
wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and
build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
If you
listen to all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight in order to keep My statutes and commandments as My servant David did, then I will be with you. I will
build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.
And it came to pass, when
Baasha heard thereof, that he left off
building of
Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
Then King
Asa summoned all the men of Judah, with no exceptions, and they carried away the stones of
Ramah and the timbers
Baasha had used for
building. And with these materials King
Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as
Mizpah.
In his days did Hiel the Bethelite
build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in
Abiram his
firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of
Nun.
In
Ahab’s days, Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt
Jericho. At the cost of
Abiram his
firstborn he laid its foundation, and at the cost of Segub his youngest he set up its gates, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Joshua son of
Nun.
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
Please let us go to the Jordan, where each of us can get a log so we can
build ourselves a place to live there.” “Go,” said
Elisha.
And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,
Then they would put the counted money into the hands of those who
supervised the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn would pay those doing the work—the carpenters,
builders,
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an
arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: ‘He will not enter this city or shoot an
arrow into it. He will not come before it with a shield or
build up a siege
ramp against it.
Unto carpenters, and
builders, and masons, and to
buy timber and
hewn stone to repair the house.
to the carpenters,
builders, and masons—to
buy timber and dressed stone to repair the temple.
And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had
builded for
Ashtoreth the
abomination of the Zidonians, and for
Chemosh the
abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the
abomination of the children of
Ammon, did the king
defile.
And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire.
He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem—every
significant building.
Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to
build him an house.
Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with
cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to
build a palace for him.
And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build Me a house in which to dwell.
And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will
subdue all thine enemies.
Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will
build thee an house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will
subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will
build a house for you.
He shall
build me an house, and I will
stablish his throne for ever.
He will
build a house for Me, and I will establish his throne
forever.
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou
wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
Then the angel of the LORD commanded
Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then the angel of the LORD ordered
Gad to tell David to go up and
build an altar to the LORD on the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Then David said to Ornan, “Grant me the site of this
threshing floor, that I may
build an altar to the LORD. Sell it to me for the full price, so that the plague upon the people may be
halted.”
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to
hew wrought stones to
build the house of God.
So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be
builded for the LORD must be exceeding
magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
And David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent—famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore I must make preparations for it.” So David made
lavish preparations before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David called for his son Solomon and
instructed him to
build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
“My son,” said David to Solomon, “it was in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God,
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
but this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and
waged great wars. You are not to
build a house for My Name because you have shed so much blood on the ground before Me.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He is the one who will
build a house for My Name. He will be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel
forever.’
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and
prosper thou, and
build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as He said you would.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to
build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had made ready for the
building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to
build a house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to
build it,
But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
but God said to me, ‘You are not to
build a house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has
spilled blood.’
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.
Take
heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to
build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
Consider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”
